Is KODO Standard edition "enough" for low db usage app?

Hi,
We have a Swing application used by 80 users. Our needs from JDO are:
- Obj to table mapping (simple)
- Relationship management (FK translated to obj. references)
- Being able to generate JavaBeans out of db tables
Can we use standard edition of KODO for these tasks?
(It's kind of lazy of me to ask, instead of trying, I know).
Thanks!

Of course. I'm using it for a pretty intense web application that has 16-32
threads monitoring websites, as well as over 200 concurrent users without
any problems. I did follow all the optimization steps in the manual, which
did make a difference.

  • Is Standard Edition free for development purpose

    Hello,
I am using Oracle 10g express edition on a 32-bit Redhat Enterprise Linux 4. My test database have come upto 2gb and after that the database stopped working. I have been told to change to 64-bit OS through forums because of the 2gb file size limitation for 32-bit OS. When I checked the Oracle downoad site, there is no 32-bit Oracle express edition 10g. There is a 64-bit Oracle standard edition. Is Oracle 10g Standard Edition free for development purposes? What about Oracle 11g Standard edition?

All Oracle software, though, is available for download from OTN with a license that allows you to prototype your application. Once the application is beyond the prototype phase, you'd need to purchase an appropriate license for your development environment, but you may just be looking at prototyping...
As well, note that the database size and RAM restrictions in the express edition would not be expected to change if Oracle ever released a 64-bit version. The whole point of those restrictions is to ensure that the free express edition doesn't cannibalize sales of the standard edition databases.

  • When will you return standard edit boxes for To, From etc fields?

Starting from some recent version some of the developers spoiled TB by introducing non-standard edit-boxes for To, From , CC, etc fields in the new e-mail header.
Apart from the fact that their usability is questionable, they are just behave strange -- not like edit boxes in all other applications! If someone wants non-standard look, use add-ons. Do not spoil default version, please.
    Reference: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1051638

Toad-Hall, good points! Let me address them.
BTW, you obviously edited your reply because I do not see "What is the purpose of this question, which is not a question"
    1. Anyway, the reason why I wrote here is very simple. When one sees "New update available" and clciks on "What is new" one sees the page with new features and the link "Tell us what you think". So I told ;-)
..of course, as always, on the way...it turned out that I am asking some question, but who is guilty in this sick design? Surely not me ;-)
Wanna file some bug to stop this? ;-)
    2. Concerning "limited time". I simply do not believe it. One guy found time to spoil UI, and now suddenly no one (including him) has the time to return things back. My impression is that there is too much energy/time/etc which is directed in the wrong direction. For example, TB has a serious mailbox fragmentation problem, but developprs ignore it. They change (perfectly working) GUI instead!
    3. If the developers know how to fix the bug using userChrome.css, why they still didn't do this by supplying an appropriate userChrome.css by default??? I can hardly imagine a user who wishes to tweak userChrome.css after (each) update. My understanding is that the software should come with standard (for this OS) GUI. If someone wants to tweak, than HE should edit userChrome.css.
    My best regards,
    Edward

  • IOS 7 doesn't work on iPod touch 4g, so does the mean its the end for this device? Or are they going to make updates specially for lower devices an apps that are compatible ??

iOS 7 doesn't work on iPod touch 4g, so does the mean its the end for this device? Or are they going to make updates specially for lower devices an apps that are compatible ??

Which apps remain compatible will be up to the individual developers who sell those apps. There will be no further iOS updates, but those aren't really necessary to continue to use and enjoy your device. I still have an iPad 1 running on iOS 5, and it is fully functional.
The App Store has an app called VintApps 3.1.1 that is specifically geared toward iOS 3.1, however, you would probably be able to run most of those apps on your iPod, and considering that there will be a rather large market for iOS 6 apps users, it is not likely that you will see a significant reduction in choices any time soon.
It is not the end for the device in any sense except that it is at it's ultimate iOS level. And again, I have an iPad that is at it's ultimate iOS level (iOS 5), and I get new apps all the time that work for both my iPad and my iPhone that runs iOS 6.1.1
    No need to fret....
    Cheers,

  • Standard MacBook enough for Adobe CS3

    Hi,
Thinking about buying my first Mac after 10 years of PC use. Is the standard MacBook enough to run Adobe's CS3 Master Collection? I mostly use Photoshop, Flash and Dreamweaver with occasional Premier Pro use. I also wouldn't mind switching from Cakewalk to Audition. Will the 15 inch monitor be enough?
    thanks

Yes. Max out RAM, however, for best performance.

  • High Definition - is 802.11N Draft standard fast enough for streaming?

My understanding, from what I've read, is that 802.11n draft standard is actually only running at 50% speed of the actual final 802.11n protocol that will be out in a couple of years.
If Itunes starts selling HD content or I import an HD-DVD or Blu-Ray disc to Itunes, is the 802.11n fast enough to be able to stream this content to Apple tv? Has anyone tried this?
    Thanks!

My understanding, from what I've read, is that
802.11n draft standard is actually only running at
50% speed of the actual final 802.11n protocol that

No. No idea where you got that idea. Right now the Wi-Fi alliance is "certifying" 801.11n Draft 2.0 devices. It is called "draft" simply because it won't be formally approved until 2008, given the normal standardization schedules. Between draft and approved final there may be changes, but they are usually minor, so much so that sometimes a firmware update may do the job.
If Itunes starts selling HD content or I import an
HD-DVD or Blu-Ray disc to Itunes, is the 802.11n fast

First of all, don't expect iTunes to provide HD-DVD or Blue-Ray format files any times soon (I mean expect years before you see that). These are 1080p formats, which are NOT supported by the Apple TV. Apple TV does support content with a maximum resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels at 24 fps, which can be considered "720p" HD content, though not at the full cable frame rate.
Yes, Apple TV can stream this content. I have converted several HD programs captured from ESPN (which broadcasts in 720p), converted them to H.264 at 1280x720x24fps using MPEGStreamClip (http://www.squared5.com/) and stream them to my AppleTV.

  • Looking for a power usage app..

Seems like I have done everything I know of or could find in fourms to reduce the apps that are using up power on my iPhone 3GS.
Does anyone know of an APP that will tell me what APPS or services are using up power?
    Thanks...
    ~Charlie

    Hi Charlie,
Many misunderstand how multitasking actually works on iOS. Although you will see apps on your Multitasking tray (when you double press the home button), those are not actually running as they are in a "suspended/saved" state. Be advised that once an app is in this state, it uses virtually no battery power.
Here's an [extremely good rundown by another user of how Mutlitasking works|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=12719950#12719950].
Perhaps you have worn down the battery in your phone. Battery capacity eventually degrades, but you can slow or reduce the process by following [some basic care steps|http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html].
To answer your question directly, there is no such app that will provide you with information on the power usage of another app as it would really all be zero. There are some services, such as location services, that can reduce your battery if turned on and being actively used though.

  • Oracle 10g Enterprise vs Standard Edition performance

For a database hosted on a single machine is there any performance advantage in using Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition over Standard Edition? For our application we do not require data warehousing or OLAP, just the ability to store and query a large amount of XML as CLOBs or using sturctured mapping.
I have looked at online documentation but have not been able to find the answer. Any advice would be appreciated.

Probably not. Unless there is some EE feature you can leverage, there probably won't be a performance difference.

  • Does Oracle Database Standard Edition One 10.2 has HTML DB ?

    RDBMS Version: 10.2
Operating System and Version: Red Hat Enterprise AS/ES 3
Does Oracle Database Standard Edition One has HTML DB ?
    Hi,
My company plans to buy Oracle Database Standard Edition One for a small project. Does this have HTML DB option ?
    Please advice,
    Thx,

    According to the documentation:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/htmldb/pdf/Oracle_HTML_DB_2.0_Data_Sheet.pdf
Oracle HTML DB is a standard feature of Oracle Database 10g, available in Standard One, Standard and Enterprise Edition at no additional charge.

  • Cramming it all into one Standard Edition server

    Hello,
I'm rolling out a fresh deployment of Lync Server 2013.  Right now the idea is to have one Standard Edition server with about 2500 users homed there that will have the following things collocated:
    A/V Conferencing service
    Mediation service
Monitoring and Archiving services (will probably use Exchange 2013 for storage)
    Persistent Chat server
The two Persistent Chat databases: the PC database and the PC Compliance DB
So, from everything I've read, it's supported to have all that stuff on one Standard Edition server.  Is it wise to do that if there are 2500 users?  Seems to me like a lot of load, even though all those roles are technically supported.
We're considering having two Standard Edition servers for high availability that would have our 2500 users spread evenly between them.  (not a Enterprise FE pool).  We should be able to spread out those collocated roles if we had two SE servers,
    right?
    Thanks for the help,
    Brandon

Yes, a Lync Standard edition server will support up to 5,000 users. The only thing to do is to make sure you have sufficiently spec'd your hardware, use the Capacity Planning tool to input the users and traffic to ensure you have sufficient hardware to cope
    with the load: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36828
Regarding spreading out co-located roles if you pair two Standard Edition servers; this is not possible. Both servers will have all the roles and you pair them, so that in the event
of failure of one server, you can fail over to the other server. You could home users on either pool to distribute load that way, just make sure that either pool can handle the load of all users should a failure occur and failover is required.
On a side note, if you need external access, Edge services (and Directors, Reverse Proxy, etc) will need their own servers, as will the Office Web App Server if you want to do PowerPoint sharing in Lync meetings

  • Oracle Database 10g Standard Edition

Oracle Database 10g Standard Edition Suitable for medium sized organization. Actually it supports how many no of concurrent connection, workload??

Yes, it is suitable for, and is used in many medium sized organizations. It supports as many concurrent connections as possible until the operating system starts paging or swapping. At which time it slows down. I personally have seen it handle 125 concurrent connections.
You question is like asking 'will a Pentium 4 CPU handle Microsoft Powerpoint?'. And the answer is 'yes, of course'. But what about when you want to run video clips in Powerpoint?
There is no accurate way of answering your question without understanding the exact workload you plan on generating.
