Is LabVIEW Runtime required for a DLL created by LabVIEW ?

Hi
Could some one advice me on this matter please.
I am trying to build a DLL for a set of functions created in LabVIEW. Now I am wondering if I need to use it with some other language like VB or C++, do I need to install the LabVIEW runtime of the same version as the original functions ?
Any settings required while creating the DLL ?
I am trying to create it in LV 7.0

Is there any documentation of 'hard' runtime requirements in terms of Solaris kernel etc. versions?
I've just installed Studio 12.3 on Solaris 10 u9 (x64) and both the toolchain and binaries built with it seem to work fine, despite the documented requirement for Sol10u10 for Studio itself.
I can't find anything which talks about runtime requirements for binaries built using Studio.
Are there lurking issues which I may run into in production if I try to deploy binaries built using 12.3 on a Solaris version before 10u10?

lists the minimum OS version as "Solaris 10 10/08", which is S10u6, not S10u10. So you are safe in using S10u9. (Sometimes documentation refers to the date of the update and sometimes to the update number, which I agree can be confusing.)
The basic runtime compatibility rule has been that you can run on a newer OS version than where you built, not necessarily on an older OS version. The problem is that new OS versions introduce new interfaces, and a program might intentionally or unintentionally depend on an interface that does not exist in an older Solaris version. In that case, the application would not work on the older OS.
Historically, updates to Solaris were only bug fixes. But Solaris 10 has been out so long that some updates introduced new features and new interfaces.
A safe rule is to build on the oldest OS version that you intend to allow clients to use. For Solaris 10, it is safest to extend that rule to the oldest update that you intend to allow clients to use.

How to make a category required for all files created within a folder

I've defined a category. It has attributes which have been flagged as required.
When I view the properies of a particular workspace (library), the category is shown as available to the workspace. However, the category is not shown as required. And the "required" checkbox is not clickable.
So .. how, from the OCS DHTML applet, do I make a particular category a required category for all files in a folder?

Perhaps the Category Attribute is not marked as "configurable" when it was created. You can check this by "switching into Admin Mode" and drilling down the Categories using "Manage Categories" link. Check if the category attribute is marked as configurable or not.

Deviation required for Division to create Order with billing reference

Hi All.,
I want to Create Order with the reference of Billing Document. Just consider one case.,
Billing Document Sales Area is , ABC/10/BZ
I am creating sale order for Sales area, ABC/DI/ST with reference of Billing Document having Division BZ.
System will thow an error as "Division ST deviates from Division BZ".
Is it possible to create order with such scenario???
Is there any Division specific Copy control routine????

In Sales document type, transaction VOV8, there is a field 'Check Division', which if checked will not allow a division different than the Sales area at the header of the Sales order. If you are trying a fresh cycle, you can remove this check which will allow entering a different division at item level without any problems.
Plus if you create a new order with reference to the invoice of above stated order, system will allow a different division value at the item level.

Installer LV7.1 - LabVIEW load error code 21: An external subroutine required for execution could not be found.

Je cherche à créer un installer portatif utilisant les drivers NI-DAQmx 8.7.1 et NI-CAN 2.6.0.
Je dispose d'un code LV 7.1 et j'ai installé l'application builder 7.1.
Mais une fois l'application installé sur un PC vierge de Labview, j'obtiens le message suivant:
load error code 21: An external subroutine required for execution could not be found.
Ce message est répété plusieurs fois (pour différents VIs) puis le programme ne se lance pas.
J'ai bien veillé à installer les drivers NI-CAN et NI-DAQmx correspondant au préalable sur la machine cible.
En chercant sur le forum, plusieurs pistes m'ont été proposé:
La version NI-DAQ
L'intégration du Run time Engine
Un problème de DLL
J'ai vérifié ces 3 points mais cela n'a pas règlé mon problème.

En fait, j'ai bien inclu le runtime engine de Labview qui était effectivement la source de l'erreur.
L'installation de NI-DAQmx v 8.7.1 provoque la mise à jour de la version du runtime engine (passage de 7.1 à 7.1.1).
J'ai donc désinstallé Le runtime engine 7.1.1 (ce qui a provoqué la désinstallation de labview et NI-DAQ).
Puis je suis passé par une version plus ancienne de NI-DAQ (7.2) que j'ai adapté (inclusions de DLL et de VIs).
Les messages d'erreurs ont alors tout simplement disparus!

Required Windows updates to run/load dlls created with Visual C++ 2013

I have dlls created with VS2013 C++. Dlls are statically linked with runtime libraries and therefore do not require the redistributable to run on a machine that does not have VS2013 installed.
I have a test machine with Win7 SP1 64-bit without any windows updates. When I try to load a dll created with VS2013 in an executable on that machine, the code dies. Another test machine with windows 7 SP1 fully updated using windows updates loads the same
dll without a problem and the code runs fine.
My question is which windows updates for Win 7 and Win 8 are necessary for dll created with VS2013 to load and run?

I did use dependency walker. In my post above (third post in the thread) I actually state that:
"The code crashes(=dies) on the machine without windows updates. I used dependency walker and there are no missing dlls.
Even if there were missing dlls, which there are none, those would be system dlls, because a machine with fully up to date Win7 loads and executes the code without a problem."
The dll is statically linked (/Mt flag was used). For a good measure I installed redistributable which did not solve the problem. Besides static linking applies to runtime dlls, not the system dlls.

Small runtime engine for newer labview versions?

A few times in the past I have created simple LabVIEW standalone executibles. I did this in 8.6 and used the runtime engine minimal installer instead of the full version. This resulted in an installation package size of 30-35 Meg.
I agin need to create a simple executible but have not seen a minimum runtime installer for any LabVIEW version since 8.6
Are there any minimal runtimes for other versions?
The default 2014 runtime is 264 Meg!!! It is hard to explain to a customer why a simple "Hello World" program requires a 200+ Meg download.

DLL created by labview get stuck

I tried to run test created with lab view with external tool.
This tool load dll and call execution function.
I created a dll from the Labview test (I used simple function for test that only extract numbers) and I used __stdcall
when I use this dll from an executable It works fine. (My application call a dll, and the dll call to the dll created from labview)
however when I use it from my dll it get stuck
I tried to load the dll dynamically with loadLibrary() and It works fine only for the first time (It gets stuck when I called it again)
I found that if I call it from the same thread it works fine, but if I call it from two different threads (the second call is long after the first call has finished, so there is no race condition) It gets stuck from the second thread.
I used visual studio to see where the call get stuck, and it is in lvrt.dll
Does anyone know what can I do to solve this problem.

The problem might be that the first thread is not pumping messages and so the LabVIEW gets hung up waiting for events. This problem has been fixed in LV 8 so I'm assuming you're using an earlier version. If so, you can follow the steps outlined in the link above (creating a message pumping thread and calling your DLL with that first).
