Is license upgraded from Student to Commercial transferable?

Hello.
I want to buy Student and Teacher CS6 license. I am aware, they are available for commercial work, but not transferable.
When CS7 comes out, after upgrading my license, will I receive full commercial, transferable license, that wont be market as "student" in any way?
I value the option to sell my license if somehow I would no longer have need for certain software (it alleviates the risk of the purchase). That would be great if it is the case, because cost of my Student license will somehow go toward cost of my commercial license.
Best regards,
Filip
BTW. I live in Europe, if it matters

No, because any Adobe upgrade is contingent on owning/keeping the previous version you upgraded from (having them both, they go together) — and that previous version in your case is an education edition that was purchased at a large discount and so is not transferrable...
This is the case no matter where you are in the world.

  • Upgrade from Student License

I am a student at the moment (but hopefully not much longer, a year or so) thinking about buying a student license of Lightroom. My question now: Is it possible to upgrade from a student version to the full version of a new release (let's say version 2.0;-) or do I then have to buy a full license?
    Thanks in advance,
    Alexandra

The versions sre alll the same, only the price is different.AFAIK.
You'll only have to pay the higher price once you can't back up the lower with an ID.

  • Can a CS5 Professional license, upgraded from CS2 Educational license, be transferred?

    As I understand it:
    1. Educational Licenses cannot be transferred
    2. If you upgrade an Educational to a Professional, it replaces the old license (stop me if I'm wrong)
So, I just want to know if the newer, Professional license can be transferred to another person, just like any other professional license?

Once one has a full license (they are not known within Adobe as a professional license), it does not matter whether it was obtained via an upgrade from an academic or educational version or not. The license has the same transfer privileges as if the full product, not an upgrade, was purchased. Once the upgrade is completed and you transfer the license, you may no longer use the original academic or educational license.

  • Upgrading from educational to commercial versions?

I currently have Adobe Creative Suite 1.0 Education version that I purchased in 2003 when I was still a student. I am upgrading to a new iMac and want to upgrade my CS software to the Intel-friendly CS4 Design Premium. Adobe is running a great deal on upgrades (CS3 upgrade rate from any version of Creative Suite, not just CS3) that I would like to take advantage of, but no one at the Apple store seems to know if I can upgrade from an Educational suite to a Commercial suite at these rates. I am no longer a student, and would be using the CS software to create for-profit pieces.
So, to boil it down, will the $599 upgrade work for Educational-to-Commercial, or do I have to start from scratch with the $1,800 suite? That's a big difference in price, and I'd hate to buy the upgrade only to find out it doesn't work and I have to shell out for the whole shebang.
    Thanks for your help!

Be sure you buy the correct upgrade package CS to CS4 and do it before April 31 which is when tiered pricing kicks in and it will cost $200 more.
Also CS is the last upgradable version Adobe only goes 3 versions back as soon as CS5 is released CS will no longer be eligible.

  • Options for upgrade from Student?

    Hi,
I'm currently well out of date with my CS version..currently still on CS3 of production premium (student edition)
I'm looking to update this..im no longer a student anymore and am looking to upgrade to either production premium (standard edition) or design premium (standard)
I've read online that I can upgrade from CS3 to CS6..however does this still work if you original copy was a student edition?
Really dont want to have to buy a whole new set from scratch, so will have to look into just buying individual programs as needed if I can't.
Have not been able to find an answer anywhere on this one.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Janine
p.s. Sorry if i posted in the wrong section...

Yes, commercial upgrades also work with S&T editions, you will just have to handle this through Adobe directly du to the serial number hocuspocus involved.

  • Upgrading from Student Edition (no longer student)

I currently have a student edition license for LR2, but am no longer a student.  Can I buy the upgrade to LR4 do I need to start over without the upgrade?

Your version of LR3 is the same as the full paid version its just that you paid less for the license being a student. Upgrading to LR4 will be fine. If you installing on the same computer then the serial number from LR 3 will be recognised when you input the upgrade serial number and the program will be installed.
If you are installing on a  new computer, when you enter the LR 4 upgrade serial number you will be requested to imput the previous version number so you need to have the number handy.

  • Is it possible to upgrade from Student version Lightroom 3 to a private Lightroom 5?

I'm trying to find out if I can upgrade from my student version of Lightroom 3 to a private version of Lightroom 5, or do I have to buy the whole version of Lightroom 5? I would like to be sure about which to buy before I make a purchase and obviously make a saving if I can just purchase the upgrade.

You can simply buy the upgrade, no need to buy the complete version.

  • Upgrade from student CS4 to eLearning 2.5

I want to upgrade my student version to a full version of eLearning 2.5. Based on what I have read online, it appears to me that there is no problem upgrading to a full version suite. Is that correct?
    Thanks!

The right side, near the top, has the link to buy... says "upgrade from $599"

  • Installing upgrade from student edition

I purchased CS3 Master Collection in 2008 from VCU - so it was a student edition. Now I need to upgrade to CS6. I have 2 questions:
    1. can I upgrade to a commercial edition from a student edition?
    1. last week my Filevault encryption app on my Macbook grew so large that I had to disable it. That meant that I had to delete a lot of files including my CS3 to create the space.
I do not know the technical aspects of upgrades. Do I need to reinstall my CS3. If I cannot find the discs can I get a download version from my license key on file?

Thanks you for the quick response. I will definitely go ahead then.
    Happy holidays!

  • Upgrading from student vr. of 5.5?

Hi, I am interested in purchasing Adobe CS5.5 Web Premium Student & Teacher Edition from Amazon.ca as it's cheaper & easier for me to use than CS6. My questions are, if I choose to upgrade to CS6 a) is an upgrade available from CS5.5 to CS6 b) how much does it cost and c) how much time left do I have to upgrade? I couldn't find the answer on the FAQ page, all I saw was something about a free upgrade which I'm pretty sure I wouldn't qulify for and the agent I spoke to was completely useless who just wanted me to buy CS6 outright...

Nobody can tell you anything. If you buy CS5.5 now and decide to upgrade to CS6 next year, that may no longer be possible. With this weeks announcement for the Creative Cloud only model you shouldn't expect conventional retail versions to be around forever. Also S&T versions can only be upgraded to commercial versions, so if you are still a student one year from now and want to avoid double-spending on the full suite, no matter the discounted price, you might as well buy CS6 now.

  • Upgrade from Student CS3

    Hi,
I have the DW CS3 Student Version, which I have been using
throughout my Web Design course (provided by the School). I would
like to use this program commercially, which isn't allowed in the
    Student version.
    - Can I upgrade?
    - Or do I have to purchase the full version?
    - If I can upgrade, how much does it cost (I'm in the UK)?
    Many Thanks!
    Shelley

I think David's point is that you should talk to the source
rather than going to a public forum because no one from Adobe will
respond in the public forum. Your question is a sales question that
is better answered by sales staff rather than people who come here
primarily for product support after purchase.
I myself am from the US so I cannot attest to any terms or
conditions that may be different for Adobe outside the US. Also the
best prices I would be able to supply are ones using an online
calculator, which from personal experience I can say are typically
unreliable and usually not representative of pricing elsewhere.
I would follow David's advice on this one because people can
say one thing here, but Adobe will have the final word on the
    discussion.

  • Upgrade from student

I currently have CS3 student edition of Design Standard.  I was thinking about upgrading to CS4 because I want to start doing production work.  I came across this link here that states that student editions can be used for production work.  Is this true?  Will I be violating my license agreement if I use my current copy for production work?
    Here's the link....
    http://www.adobe.com/education/students/studentedition/faq.html
You have to click on the portion that says "How can I use my software" to show the section about production work.

    whiting_david wrote:
Now that does also count for CS3 correct?  And what exactly is Adobe's definition of "Production work?"
Adobe does not use that term on that page so they cannot offer a definition for it.
'Commercial' means you are trading/exchanging your product/work for money or beers.
If an upgrade policy is limited to a particular version such as only CS4 or CS3, it would be explicitly stated.

  • Upgrade from student version to regular version.

    Hi,
I purchased a student version of LR4 about a year ago.  Now I want to purchase a non-student version of LR5.  Can I just buy the upgrade or do I need to buy LR5?  If LR5 will I then have both LR4 and LR5 on my MAC?

Yes, you can buy the upgrade "version" of Lightroom 5. Actually, there is only one version of Lightroom. The program is the same. There are just different licensing provisions. When you install Lightroom 5 you will have both versions on your computer. They will work independently of each other. You can keep Lightroom 4 for as long as you want. I still have it on my computer, but will probably remove it soon because I very seldom use it anymore.
Since you have Lightroom 4 installed, the installation of the new version will find the needed serial number, and you only have to enter the serial number with the new version.
