Is lightroom 3 really more fast then 2.5

Hi
i have a question
i bought lightroom 1.4.1
i tried lightroom 2.x and the beta version 3
but i did not find more fast then the 2.x version
do you find the beta3 more fast then 2.x?
i'm under xp and vista
thanks

Interactive performance is improved (e,g. scrolling thumbnails in Grid view and switching from module to module). However, preview rendering and export are slower.

It's not a simple "press this button" type of thing.  I've identified some 50+ things that can and should be adjusted to make Windows 7 less a toy and more serious.
One tweak, for example, is to disable the silly and intrusive indexing, which supposedly makes searching for things faster.  Without it searches still work, but they search right now instead of relying on often outdated or corrupted index data.  And the system isn't continuously on the hard drive looking for new stuff to index.
Another is that the system comes with a "feature" called User Access Control enabled, and for non-technical users this can help keep their system from becoming infected with malware, but for people who know what they're doing and practice safe computing (e.g., don't download every free toolbar that comes along, configure Internet Explorer to distrust everyone, that sort of thing) it can really get in the way.  Most knowledgeable people disable it.
Personally I've disabled some of the new "gee whiz" desktop features, such as docking windows to the sides of the monitor, and Aero Peek, because I find them mentally disruptive.
There are also some nice freeware programs like ShellFolderFix (positions Explorer windows to where they were last time), WizMouse (sends mouse events to the window the mouse is hovering over), ClassicShell (adds some classic desktop features back that Microsoft removed).
Even such things as changing the settings of the desktop can really help - for example reducing the Window Border to 0 makes more space available to do real work.
There are many others.  Best thing for you to do is to check back here and ask a question if you want to know how to make something work better.  Lots of experts here.

  • FAST REFRESH OF MV IS TAKING MORE TIME THEN COMPLETE REFRESH IN PRODUCTION

    Hi
We have production enviroment in which FAST REFRESH OF MV IS TAKING MORE TIME THEN COMPLETE REFRESH. Can you tell me what are the differences between this refreshes?
    Regards,
    RJ.

    Sure:
    create table emp (id number(9));
    Table created.
    SQL> alter table emp add primary key (id);
    Table altered.
    create materialized view log on emp;
    Materialized view log created.
    create materialized view emp_mv as select * from emp;
    Materialized view created.
    Complete refresh:
    SQL> exec dbms_snapshot.refresh('EMP_MV','C');
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    Fast Refresh:
    SQL> exec dbms_snapshot.refresh('EMP_MV','F');
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
This is the basic setup. There are many more options to the create materialized view statement, just FYI.

  • Purchase, licensing, payment Why after i paid $150 for the product do i have to buy a serial number to use lightroom for more then 30 days?

Purchase, licensing, payment Why after i paid $150 for the product do i have to buy a serial number to use lightroom for more then 30 days? Why doesn't a serial number come with my online purchase? should people have to register a product they bought from the same website? why wouldn't this all be tied together with your purchase? total headache.... also i downloaded the free trial for 30 days and when my trial was up i went to buy the product and found it nearly impossible to find without joining something that has a monthly fee. Is this the standard for buying things online these days?

When you purchased Lightroom you should have received an e-mail with your serial number. Better go back and check your e-mails that you received from Adobe. I think one of them should be a receipt, and should have the serial number printed on it.

  • 1.3 is more slow then 1.2

    Hi
I found the 1.3 more slow then the 1.2 , i mean the sliders are slow to move in the develop module using the zoom ratio Fit to screen
the 1.2 is blazing fast , the 1.3 is slow
    I run it on xp , p4 3.6 ,4gb of ram , and 4 sata2 in raid
I did notice that the sliders are slow , sticky not smooth only in the fit to screen zoom ratio in the other ratios it's fast
I played in the catalog setting , with different setting and i tried to render 1:1
, update ati drivers ,i have a x800 pic express with 512 mb of ram
this version 1.3 has for me the same problem of the 1.0
    my spec
    Giovanni P4 3.6 ,4gb ram ,4 hds sata2 seagate 320gb, xp pro 2 , ati x800 pci-express 512mb , photoshop cs3 ,lightroom 1.2

I want to add my voice to the "1.3 is slower than 1.2 list"
We work with both PC's and Macs, and we are both sitting here shaking our heads as to the slowness... almost unusable when trying to sort photos.
The slowness is very dramatic AFTER you have applied a few edits to a photo. So if you have cropped, adjusted exposure, etc, to a bunch of photos, and then you want to go through all the adjusted photos to further narrow them down, the "rendering larger version" message goes on for a long time between each photo. While that happens, the photo is very blurry.
Lightroom seems to be an acceptable option only for people that are working with a few dozen photos at a time. In my case the collection that I have adjusted and am trying to narrow down is about 330 images.
Yes, I have rendered the photos both large and 1:1. From RAW files.
I am re-rendering now (over 1 hour so far and still waiting) the large versions after they have been adjusted.
If forcing a re-render fixes the problem, that means that Lightroom is not storing an adjusted preview whenever it leaves a photo, causing the preview to be recalculated every time it gets revisited from then after. It seems that crop and rotate can make things really bad.
(And before you bother Lee Jay... we know that Lightroom works perfectly peachy-keen for you all the time)

  • How to use CLIENT_TEXT_IO more fast?

    Hello,
I'm using new features for Forms 10g like WebUtil, but I can't fine work with file manipulation - CLIENT_TEXT_IO.
The loading of the text file with 7mb size, delay 15-30 minutes, is not good.
I like know one other way for this works more fast, anybody help me?
I tried using Java for replace WebUtil commands (CLIENT_TEXT_IO), but, my java class, works as a client program. I accept others forms to resolve this problem, but, I look for solutions using WebUtil, if is possible.
    Thanks in advanced.

It seems the implementation of CLIENT_TEXT_IO is not optimal, refer to the webutil manual for performance improvement.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/webutil/web_util.pdf - page 6-1.
Use functions in an efficient manner. For instance if you need to read a text file on
the client computer, it will probably be more efficient to transfer the file to the
users’s work area using WebUtil_File_Transfer and then read it with normal
TEXT_IO, rather than reading it line by line across the network

  • Can I use lightroom on more than one computer

Am I able to use lightroom on more than one computer. As in if I download it to my PC can I then use the same license for my laptop?

Yes, you are allowed to have to installations at any time from the same license, provided each installation is for your own personal use and the two installations are not used simultaneously

  • How Can i clean my memory and make my imac more faster ?

I am new user in mac i have imac 4 g ram  and need a way to clean the memory and make my imac more faster ...

You can't "clean" RAM. If the "storage" space on your hard drive isn't enough then put in a larger hard drive or delete any of your data you no longer need or can store on an external drive. Beyond this I cannot say because you have not provided enough information such as the amount of installed RAM, Capacity of your hard drive and the amount of available space on the hard drive, the specific iMac model you have.
    You can try reinstalling Lion:
    Reinstalling Lion Without the Installer
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.
However, if your computer doesn't have enough RAM or your hard drive is full, then reinstalling won't help.

  • Is 802.11b/g faster then 802.11g

The wireless network I have at my house has two Powerbook G4s (Both with Airport Extreme Cards) connected to it and I am wondering if Switching to 802.11g is faster then 802.11b/g. I dont have any computers connecting that need 802.11b.
    Thnx

OK, Just to give you an idea about the difference between the 2.
If you are accessing the internet and downloading things and only have a DSL connection or just ordinary dial up then you may just as well set your Macs to 'b'. Signal/Bandwidth strength is greater with 'b'. Most dial up is '56k' and mmost DSL is 512 to 2mbs. So just using 11b is more than plenty. But if you have DSL from 8 up to 24meg speeds then 'g' is what you should use. But remember that the '54' speed is only the transfer / communication speed between 2 points. You can transfer a large file say a CD of music from one iTunes on one Mac to another Mac (example) and use 11g. You could of course double this by using a ethernet connection between the 2 Macs at 100mbps or even Firewire at 400 ot 800.
So in a nutshell use 'g' if you are transfering large data file and need to minimize time. But then of course you will do what suits your environment best.
    Cheers

  • I have two iphones using the same computer and I can only find a backup for my iphone and not my girlfriends.  She uses itunes a lot more often then I do but cant find it

I have two iphones using the same computer and I can only find a backup for my iphone and not my girlfriends.  She uses itunes a lot more often then I do but cant find it.  Really need some help.  Shouldnt her apps and details be saved online in the itunes store?  Even her apps wont appear

If you create an Apple ID for your daughter, signing out of the existing Apple ID with the iTunes & App Store on her iPhone will not change anything on your iPhone.
All apps include DRM protection which is tied to the Apple ID that was used to download the apps.
If she starts using her Apple ID to download apps, when there is an app update for an app on her iPhone that was downloaded with the current shared Apple ID, she will need to use that Apple ID and password to download the app updates.

  • Lumia 1020 Discharging faster then charging.

i have a Lumia 1020 ATT version, fully updated and I have found that if i use Waze or the HERE Drive+ while having bluetooth enabled for music to my car radio that the phone discharges faster then my car charger can charge it.  the car charger im using is http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B8M4IMK/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1  which seems to be the most powerfull one i can find.  any suggestions would be great, as i can do this with my Nexus 4 without a issue, but losing 12-20% of my battery on a 2 hour drive is driving me nuts.  oh and i have made sure that the phone is actually charging

Anker products are generally very good and the charge current is more than enough so this should work fine. Have you contacted Anker support on this and are you usre you use the Android output as the Apple output will not provide full current to non Apple products.
I use their 13,000 mA battery with my 1020 when on my bike and with navigation, music streaming and cycling stats apps running I do not loose charge at all using the 2A output on that.
Click on the blue Star Icon below if my advice has helped you or press the 'Accept As Solution' link if I solved your problem..

  • Safari and firefox stop working after a few minutes of browsing, regardless of what site I'm on. I have to restart my computer to get internet access again but it only works for a few more minutes, then I have to restart again. Please help!

Safari and firefox stop working after a few minutes of browsing, regardless of what site I'm on. I have to restart my computer to get internet access again but it only works for a few more minutes, then I have to restart again. I don't get a spinning ball, it just stops working at whatever page it's on. I can close the program just fine but when I re-open it, either safari or firefox, it freezes trying to load the hompage. This started a few days ago after trying to stream a movie on my computer. I'm on a Mac Air OS X Version 10.6.8 and have downloaded all updates. When I go into finder, it says I have over 80 gigs available. Is there some other memory cache that I need to check? Thanks so much for your help.

It's not a router problem as I explained in my post. If it was a router problem then I wouldn't have the problem everywhere I go. It is an issue with the software.
Then I guess the millions of people running 10.5.7 with no issues are just hallucinating that their machines are working fine?
I'm not trying to belittle your issues; you're certainly having them and I know first hand how annoying an intermittent AirPort issue can be. (In fact, mine was due to an AirPort driver bug that no one else seemed to suffer from.)
The single best diagnostic you could do is take your system running 10.5.7 to an Apple Store, and try using their in-store network.
If your machine performs flawlessly, it may be a router issue.
If your machine has connectivity issues there, it may be a hardware problem with your machine.
There have been numerous people in multiple threads over the years who swore that an update was buggy because things used to work, but returned later to sheepishly admit that they took their machine in, a problem was found and fixed, and now their Mac works flawlessly with the newer software.
But simply reinstalling 10.5.5 in no way means the explanation of how firmware bugs may be at play here is incorrect.
In the context of that explanation, all you've done is possibly reinstall software that asks to add "2 + 3."

  • Magic Mouse: Eneloop Really More Cost Effective than Lithium?

Hi. Under heavy use, gaming or doing professional work for 16 hours a day at most is it really more environment friendly and cost effective to put Lithium disposable batteries like Everyready's Ultimate?
Supposing you used a calculated cost of having the Sanyo charger + four Sanyo Eneloops + trickle charge (although rechargeables can be charged many times which could last you decades. I think 80+ years. Having four Eneloops is realistic because, you need two extra Eneloops in the ready) vs. the Ultimate, how much would their cost be?
By the way, how long does Eneloop last if you use it heavily? The Lithium Ultimate performs so much better than alkaline (it's only at 94% after a month. The Advanced Alkaline was only at 3 weeks before it had to be replaced at 10% or risk having a leak if it's not replaced),
    Gbu,
    Alvin

For me, yes. Buying new batteries every few weeks got old. The eneloops are great and last about as long as the copper-tops I was using (which lasted about a month). I think I calculated saving money about the 5th month. B&H Photo has them for about $20.
