Is Lightroom CC available?

I don't see it in my CC list of aps. I have requested a download through the Adobe page, and the page replied "... is downloading" but I don't see any actual evidence of download... Anyone?
Subscripting paid up to date; Photoshop CC successfully downloaded; Bridge update successfully downloaded. No Icon for Lightroom CC.

Ideally, if this job is done right, people will be able to make a robust plugin without needing to understand so much of what's under the hood.
Anyway, I don't much understand the web-engine plugins, nor how they fit into the rest of the infrastructure - this is the area where your expertise may be the most valuable.
Don't forget to chime in on the Lightroom Plugin Development site over at Assembla too...

Personally I like New Zealand and am happy to put up with the quirks of living in a small country very distant from the masses.

Lightroom now available to Pre-Order

Adobe has made Lightroom available for Pre-Order. Price is posted as US$199 or £146 (inc VAT). Shipping is Feb 19th. Price is expected to rise after April 30th to $299.
This is a great tool and a must have, in my opinion, if you shoot lots of RAW images.

I don't understand how there can be a £200 difference between the 128GB SSD model and the 256GB SSD model when the only difference is an extra stick of 128GB SSD which can be bought for £60 or am I missing something here?
Also, it shows there is only 1 mini display port instead of 2 and that there is an external VGA port. Is this new to the UK models? as the US models all have 2 mini display ports and 1 hdmi port only with no vga port

Why is there no student version of Lightroom 6 available?

I planned to stop my CC photography plan, because I can't afford it anymore and I don't really need Photoshop but Lightroom, since Lightroom has panoramas and HDR now available. But now there is no Students & Teachers Edition available anymore and I have to pay the full price, which I also can't afford. What can Adobe do to keep me as a paying costumer?

Well, one thought is Adobe is offering upgrade pricing from older Student editions. So if you happened to have ever purchased a standalone copy of LR1-LR5, then you could get the lower upgrade price for LR6.

I was told that Lightroom 5 is now available as free download for Creative Cloud members, and as a perpetual license. How do I take advantage of this? I have creative cloud, and lightroom 4, but I dont know how to get the perpetual license. I am also a student.

You dont need perpetual license. Creative cloud membership entitles you to get Lightroom 5. Please do check that you meet the the system requirements of Lightroom: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom/tech-specs.html. If you don't have Creative cloud Membership, you can get the perpetual licence/subscription of Lightroom 5 from the link I just gave.

Lightroom 5 available for download So...

Adobe released Lightroom 5 for download this moring. So, my question is " Is it still worth it to holding out for Aperture 4 " or start making plans for Lightroom 5. I can't stand Lightroom UI ( or I would of which long time ago ) but Apple is dragging their feet with Aperture 4 and I don't know/think Apple is willing or able to catch up or even surpass Adobe Lightroom now. Ya I know what people will say " if Lightroom is for you, then don't let the door hit you in the backside".
So, it's a choice of Adobe's terribly ugly UI or Apple's Aperture constantly losing my pictures settings and now their unwillingness to keep Aperture current. Any thoughts to help me out.

Yes, it sounds good in theory ... though, if they offer it as discussed, by creating proxy RAW files using Smart Previews ... then upload those previews to the cloud, then download those previews to your iPad ... then sync the work back to Lightroom on your desktop computer library ... I mean "whew!" ... that sure sounds like a lot of effort just to do some keywording/captioning on the iPad ...

Even better, if there were an Aperture iOS app that could pull the RAW file jpeg previews in the field, work on the images, and sync back to the RAW images once loaded in your main archive could avoid the need to duplicate work when traveling light.
At least that's what I would do if I were an engineer working on Aperture ...

New Software for Lightroom is available! - This is a pop-up and not genuine

I have just received a pop-up for Lightroom. I have done a general search and it appears this is some kind of spam/scam? I noticed that there are others who have also received this pop-up. It does not look like a genuine Adobe upgrade. It has 'Ignore these updates' 'remind me later' and download'....I have not 'clicked on any of its links.
I am operating on OS X 10.10.1 with a safari browser and my Adobe Lightroom and 'Flash' are both up-to-date'. My lightroom and all Adobe product is operating in Adobe CC. How do I get rid of this 'thing'?

Thanks for the answers. I will say the pop-up looked suspicious and not at all what I would have expected from Adobe. As mentioned when I went with an online 'Google' search with regards this pop-up I found that there were others who also had doubts about this 'pretty basic pop-up'. But hey, thanks to both of you for the swift response and replies...All going as normal here and I can rest-easy.

Is there a version of Lightroom still available which I can use with Mac OSX 10.5.8?

I have an old Macbook Pro running OSX 10.5.8. I know the latest Lightroom needs 10.7 or above but until I upgrade my computer entirely, I was hoping to learn on a compatible version of Lightroom.

I am planning to buy Lightroom 5 (New/Unopened) on Amazon and wanted to make sure I will be able to download the version 5 updates (I believe it's up to 5.3 currently?) from the Adobe site FOR FREE? Does anyone know?

Yes, provided you enter a valid serial number into Lightroom, all dot point updates (5.2, 5.3 etc) are free.
Adobe does not know or care where you purchased the software from provided you've got a valid serial number.

Lightroom 6--available in both standalone perpetual licence as well as CC?

I'm ready to upgrade from my old licence (v2.7) to the latest Lightroom. I need a standalone version. I've read that LR6 will be out in March 2015. When it is released, will LR6 be in a standalone version as well as CC? Will I be able to upgrade from v2 to v6?

Update for Lightroom not available - not a Creative Cloud member

I did not use Creative cloud and am not interested in using it. there is an update I am told for Lightroom, but whenever I go to update it takes me to Creative Cloud.
I use Lightroom for my enjoyment, thus, not interested in spending the extra money. I buy the new versions when it comes out.
How do I get the last update if I do not subscribe to Creative cloud.

Three steps. First, you can simply download the latest release using the LR6 direct links instead here:
New Adobe Lightroom 6 (CC) Direct Download Links – Free Trials
Next, see this page where you can buy a LR6 standalone license, either Full or Upgrade (from a previous LR version):
Purchase Adobe Software Products - Most Popular
You may need to change your region in the lower left of that page, if it doesn't switch automatically to your country.
...and then finally just follow these instructions to permanently activate the product/trial installed on your system:
Lightroom Help | Serialize Lightroom CC trial to activate as Lightroom 6
That will convert the Lightroom CC subscription version on your computer to a Lightroom 6 perpetual licensed copy.

Added Lightroom, not available to download in Cloud list

Switched my Photoshop CC ($19) subscription to Photoshop Photography ($9) which includes a Lightroom subscription. When I go to download link for Lightroom, my Adobe cloud opens up but Lightroom is not listed.
