Is lion still safe from Zeus malware? I was an idiot and was fooled by a fake LinkedIn email

Is lion os still safe from Zeus malware? I was an idiot an fell for a fake LinkedIn message. Not sure if anything happened. Also, is the iPhone safe as well?

Back in 2006 I responded to a promotion from Apple enabling me to buy Final Cut Studio at a huge discount, if I would send them my Final Cut Pro serial #. I did that
I took advantage of the same "crossgrade" offer. If I recall correctly, they didn't ask for you to send them your serial number. They required you to send your old FCP install disc. Here's the instructions from the PDF order form for the offer:
Instructions
1. Fill out this order form and enclose it with
payment of US$199 plus applicable sales tax
and your original Final Cut Pro 4 or Final Cut
Pro HD Install DVD for each Final Cut Studio
Upgrade Kit ordered.
Apple recommends that you make
photocopies of the completed order form
and the face of the Final Cut Pro 4 or Final
Cut Pro HD Install DVD for your records.
2. Mail the completed order form, payment, and
the original Final Cut Pro 4 or Final Cut Pro HD
Install DVD to:
Apple
My point is that IF you sent in the old install disc, you may still have the old serial number. It was originally printed on two labels and was affixed to the front of the booklet titled "Installing Your Software."
My upgrade was from FCP 4.5 ... but you may have upgraded from a different version. It may be worth a look to see if you can find it.

  • Calling Web Service with Flex 3.0 from WAS 6.40 and WAS 7.0

I have followed Axel Kratel's tutorial from
"How to Develop Flex Applications that Invoke Web Services" and tested it against a WAS 6.40 and a WAS
    7.00.
In both cases, I get in the fault handler: faultCode="Channel.Security.Error".
Could you tell for which systems it is supported?
The error might have to do with crossdomain.xml file??
    Thanks for your insight!
    Tanguy Mezzano
PS: I am testing it through a VPN, through a proxy, and with Basic Authentication.

    tanguy,
In most cases it has to be the crossdomain.xml file.
One way to check it out ...
I use flexbuilder - if I run the application within flexbuilder then the application runs fine - i.e I execute the application from flexbuilder.
However if I compile the same as an SWF and run the SWF through my browser I get the security error.
You might want to also give the development environment you are using - are you using the SDK ??
Also since you are working on VPN- just check if you are able to get the WSDL for your web service through the browser - we have a problem of having to execute the web service locally to check the same- I get an error page  ( URL ending in ssocntl... or something to do with SSO ... )

  • Mountain Lion still available from App store?

Hi. I purchased Mountain Lion from the App Store sometime last year, but for some reason that I can't remember, didn't install it. It might have been because I read somewhere that although it was a little quicker than Lion, it was also less secure.
Anyway, Mavericks was introduced and I downloaded that instead.
By some reckoning, my MacBook is a bit light on in memory (2GB) for Maverick to function at its best. Some time after installing Maverick, I tried to download Mountain Lion from the App Store but it wouldn't let me. Is there any way I can get the OS which, after all, I have paid for?
    Thanks.

I'm using Mavericks. There are some things I like about Mavericks, but there has been a distinct performance drop since installing it on both my iMac and laptop. I don't like the new Pages and the latest Yosemite-compatible version of Pages seems to bring no improvements in word-processing matters and, if anything, looks even worse (I installed Yosemite just to see if the new Pages was worth having, since I use Pages a lot for my dissertation and other things).
So, I don't need Yosemite for the new Pages, and am going back at least to Mavericks but preferably to Mountain Lion. Lion was my favorite upgrade, but Mountain Lion, which I purchased but didn't download, I haven't tried.
It downloads onto my Macbook, but when I try to install it I get messages indicating the version is too new or simply that I can't install onto this computer. I'm sorry I can't remember the exact message. I will try to install it again by other means and let you all know how it goes.
Thanks all for your responses so far.

  • Why is email being sent from my secondary and not from my default account as per my settings - even when I remove the secondary email account?

I have 2 email accounts on my iPhone 4S. My secondary account is a gmail account. My primary account (not gmail) is set as my default account. Why, when I compose a new message in my primary account and then send, the email is issued from from gmail? And then why if I delete/ remove my gmail account from my iPhone and then compose a new message from my primary account (now the only account on my iPhone) it still sends from the gmail account?

No, "My Number" was not listed in my Phone menu, I had to manually type it it.  Is there a way for that number to automatically be listed in that "My Number" spot?  Would that maybe have something to do with my phone number not being listed as an option in the "Send and Receive" spot under messaging???

  • How do I totally remove the 'ghost' of mountain lion from my ibook G4? I erased and restored to panther then Snow Leopard but ML still causing problems

I am not very tech savvy but work from home and have used Macs for about 18 years, so know the basics. Have had iBook G4 for almost 5 years, it came with Panther Discs and later added Snow Leopard. Never had even the slightest issue until about 2 months ago. Kept getting "browser no longer supported" on websites and eventually could no longer edit my own Jimdo website or publish on YUDU, so downloaded Mountain Lion and installed it on my iBook.
Straight away it was much slower to start up,  wasn't that keen generally, but used it for 6 weeks hoping I would get used to it. At that point my older Mac Mini (also running on Snow Leopard) died and as I wanted to continue using my printer and scanner (neither had drivers to work with Mountain Lion) I went to Time machine and restored my iBook to the day before I installed Mountain Lion.
iBook was better immediately and started faster again, everything fine for about 3 weeks and then last wednesday my iBook would not come back on. The grey start up window showed the apple and whirly wheel for between 5 to 10 minutes, then just a blank blue screen. I could move the cursor but that was it. Tried to start up again many times, eventually the grey apple was taking up to 15 minutes before the blue screen. Refused to go beyond that blank blue screen when holding down C and starting up from either Panther or Snow Leopard discs or from Disk warrior disc. Disc Warrior and Utilities said nothing was wrong with the hard drive but always showed the HD icon with a yellow exclamation sign over it.
Because of work pressure, after 48 hours with no improvement, I wound up buying a new iMac, so can work but still would love to have my iBook back, plus use of my Printer and scanner again. Last night finally managed to Panther reinstalled after erasing 4 times and many failed attempts at install. Everything seemingly fine but Snow Leopard first reinstall failed so erased once more. Second time SL installed but gave a warning in red saying something to the effect that as I am installing an older OS over a newer one, there will be issues. This leads me to believe that somehow, despite Time Machines and now 5 separate Hard Drive erasures through utilities, Mountain Lion is STILL on there? How on earth can I get rid of it and return just to Snow leopard. Any help really welcomed as I am at the end of my tether but don't want to give up on my old faithful (until now) iBook
PS: Sorry if I post in the wrong section

First, that cannot be an iBook G4 as that machine cannot run Snow Leopard let alone Mountain Lion.  To run Snow Leopard it has to be an Intel processor, not a G4.  What does it show as the Model Identifier in About This Mac, More Info, System Report, Hardware, Model Identifier?
Second, if you have erased the hard drive there should not be remnants of any prior content.  Even though Disk Warrior is saying nothing is wrong with the hard drive, it sounds as though there are problems.  You may want to consider simply replacing the hard drive so there are no questions about faults.  A good source is OWC, http://www.macsales.com where they also have on-line videos showing how to do the replacement.
Third, you could also try again to restart using the Snow Leopard DVD/CD and use Disk Utility on that install disk to erase again, and do it a couple times, then try to install.  If it continues to refuse, then it sounds as though there is a fault with the hard drive.

  • How to Create a Bootable Flash Drive to do a clean install of Lion.  I have tried to use the InstallESD.dmg but it still will not do a clean install so that I do not have to do a reinstall from the Recovery (That just re downloads and takes over 6 hours)?

How to Create a Bootable Flash Drive to do a clean install of Lion.  I have tried to use the InstallESD.dmg but it still will not do a clean install so that I do not have to do a reinstall from the Recovery (That just re downloads and takes over 6 hours)?
The system I'm have is a Mac-mini that had SL on it and no SuperDrive.  I have also call Apple Support and they have really have not been to much help over 1st did my up grade to Lion and Installed the Lion Server.... it lost my SSL that I paid for and kill almost on of my server setting, plus kill all my web servers (using apache vhosts), and not to say the LDAP will even let remote users login to your laptops.
PS: There is no way that I'm going to buy a Install USB from Apple... They have over billed me over $300.00 because the Apps Store still has bugs (Glad I did not write that App/Service)
If there is anyone that can give in the information to create a USB install stick, I would be very thinkful.

Here you are bro, courtesy of "softpedia.com"....brilliant site!!!
If you ever had problems with your Mac OS X installation you know that the first thing you should do is to check the startup volume using Disk Utility.
After the check has ended and, if the errors exceed a certain level of seriousness, the Disk Utility application will require you to restart your Mac and use its Mac OS X Install disc counterpart.
Other users may have to reinstall OS X altogether, but will find, or already know, that their SuperDrive (a CD/DVD reader and write combo drive) is not functioning properly and it will not be able to read the Install disc.
Although this might happen to Mac OS X Leopard users due to faultyhardware, the vast majority of problematic SuperDrives will be encountered inside Snow Leopard running Macs.
This is due to the updated SuperDrive firmware included in either the Install disc or the software updates one has to install to reach the latest version of OS X, namely 10.6.6.
This can be fixed by flashing the SuperDrive’s stock firmware using free command line tools that one can find for free online (I will write about this process also, but at a later time because this article only focuses on allowing you to create your own alternative USB boot disc).
If you are reading this last bit of information with skepticism, than you should know that it happened to me too. Despite all my tries to make it work properly, the SuperDrive kept on munching any inserted DVDs and just popped them out in about twenty seconds.
The workaround to this issue was to create my own Leopard bootable USB memory stick. I am not suggesting a Snow Leopard bootable stick mainly because there are lots of users that have decided to buy the cheaper, Upgrade version, which I have not tested and, therefore, I’m not sure if it will work properly once written to a USB disk.
And now, here are the exact steps you should follow in order to obtain a fully bootable Leopard (or Lion) Install disc.
Step 1 (If you already have the Leopard install disc DMG file you can skip to Step 2)
Launch Disk Utility (you can find it inside /Applications/Utilities). Here select the Leopard Install disc in the list of drives on the left and click on the New Image menu entry at the top of the window. A save message will appear where you will have to select the Desktop as a destination.
    Step 2
After Disk Utility has finished creating the Leopard DMG, insert your USB stick and erase all data and reformat the disk. To do this select the USB in the list of drives on the left and, after clicking on the Erase tab on the right side of the window, choose the Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format and click the Erase button beneath.
    Step 3
After the USB has been reformatted, download the SuperDuper app from HERE and launch it. Once SuperDuper starts, you will only have to select the DMG in the Copy drop-down menu, your USB memory stick on the right and hit the “Copy Now” button.
One can also use Disk Utility for this task but creating a bootable USB stick failed 2 out 4 times when copying the DMG to the stick (with the exact same settings each time). Creating the bootable stick using SuperDuper proved to be the perfect way to do it because it worked each of the 4 times I tested it.
The steps above can also be used to create a bootable Mac OS X Lion USB by using the InstallESD.dmg image you can find inside the Lion installer (named “Install Mac OS X Lion.app”) downloaded from the Mac App Store in the /Applications folder.
To locate the InstallESD.dmg right click the Lion installer, select the “Show Package Contents” entry, go inside the “Contents” folder, and from there into the “SharedSupport” folder. Inside this folder you can find the InstallESD.dmg you can use to create your own bootable Mac OS X Lion USB stick. To do so, go to the third step described above and use the InstallESD.dmg as the DMG to be copied to your USB disc.
That’s it! Once the process ends you will have a fully bootable Leopard (or Lion) USB disk that you can use as an alternative to the Apple’s DVD Install disc that comes bundled with all Macs.
To use your newly created bootable disk you will have to restart the Mac, press and hold the OPTION key until the StartupManager appears. Here, select the Mac OS X Install disk using your keyboard arrows and press return to start from the selected drive.

  • I can't seem to get mountain lion to download.  It just sits in my dock and won't load.  Tried starting in safe mode an reloading - still won't work.

Very frustrated.  I can't sync my music with my phone because apparently there is a bug in the version of iPhoto I have.  So I tried to update to the latest and was told it's incompatible with my OS.  So I decided to shell out the $20 for Mountain Lion (even though I feel I shouldn't have to since the software I'm using isn't working).  Now the download of Moutain Lion just sits in the dock and won't download.  I tried restarting the computer in safe mode and redownloading, still no luck.

Edit --> Preferences --> Media and Disk Cache --> Purge. And you might wanan consider substituting any compressed audio sources with WAVs, too, to avoid such corruptions. Similarly, check your audio in a proper audio editing app. Odd sample rates, weird channle mapping and so on can have all sorts of ill effects.

  • Is Lion (not Mountain Lion) still available for upgrading from snow leopard

Is Lion (not mountain lion) still available for download and upgrading from snow leopard?

Lion is no longer available from the Mac App Store. Even the thumb drive version has been withdrawn. It should be possible to get it by calling Apple Phone Sales.

I have an IMAC and purchased OS X Lion to upgrade from the APP store, and launched the software for downloading, and I have been waiting on this for an hour, and it still says it's downloading? What do I do next?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The OS X Lion installer takes more than 4 GB of space, so it is normal for most Internet connections to take the download more than an hour.
If you want to see the download progress, open the Mac App Store and go to Purchases.
Before upgrading, make a backup of your files with Time Machine and check that your apps are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com

  • Snow Leopard still safe to use?

For some reason my mac always freezes randomly with Lion, Mountain Lion and Mavericks.
Is it still safe to use Snow Leopard for browsing with Firefox and emailing with Mail app?
    Comments please.

Excuse for my bad english (i'm italian) But i will try to tell what i understood.
I too use firefox, with snow leopard, and i think is safe i'm sure of it.
In the page of Apple support
    http://www.apple.com/support/sitemap/
apart from the new maverick that is the current release
than, as you all can see, under the voice of "earlier release" there are all the OS that apple still support ( and this means also that if there will be the need of a security uppdate this will come.
and together with lion and mountain lion they still support not only SNOW LEOPARD but  LEOPARD too, that is older than snow leopard.
Remember that Snow Leopard is still sold by apple so they HAVE TO SUPPORT IT!
When, by the end of february there was the world doubt of "maybe apple stop support to snow leopard" one day a went to ask in a Big apple store in my city. And they told me that all that things that the blogger was telling about apple that will stop support snow leopard was only silly things told to make caos...  They told me that snow leopard is still support by apple as we can see in apple support page sitemap, and that if others OS was updated (for security update) and Snow Leopard last time have not security update this was because Snow Leopard HAD NOT the need to be Updated at this moment. But if in the future there will be the need of an update that wlll come!
Those things they told me in the shop is clearly in line with what Peter Cohen told in this article here...
    http://www.imore.com/snow-leopard-vulnerable-attacks-has-apple-really-abandoned- it-0
So i think we can all be quiet ad use our snow leopard withoud doubt.
The only important things for us that use firefox together with snow leopard is the hope that MOZILLA will go on to make newer version of firefox that CAN run with snow leopard!
Unfortunatly Mozilla stoped give version for LEOPARD time ago so stop to give browser news for a OS that is still supported by apple...
So i hope that they will not do the same with snow leopard, but i hope that they will go  on to give us new version of firefox that run with snow leopard for a long time AT LEAST till snow leopard will be supported by apple (but i hope even more!)
For this i already written to mozilla italian forum asking to the mozilla people "please do not stop to give us firefox for snow leopard!" go on to make us happy and give it to us for a long time!
