Is Logic Pro 9.1.8 stable with OS X 10.7?

I run Logic pro 9.1.8 with OSX 10.6.8 on an external hard drive and it runs smooth as anything. Very stable, never misses a beat.
The reason i have an external as my boot drive is because I updated my internal drive from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion, and had continuous issues with stability when using logic. It would randomly crash, get stuck on loop with no response at all, crash when using certain 3rd party audio components, the list goes on.
So once i'd had enough I decided to get an external and start over.
I have native instruments komplete 8, and am wanting to upgrade to komplete 9, but alas, the update to Komplete 9 is not compatible with anything prior to OSX 10.7 (********).
So after a few weeks of researching and procrastinating, im still undecided as whether to update to OSX 10.7.
I don't know if it is stable with logic 9.1.8 because when i previously updated, i went straight from Snow leopard to mountain lion.
Soooo if anyone out there can help me out with any advice regarding logic 9.1.8 stability with OSX 10.7, that would be awesome

LP 9.1.8 tends to be less stable with Lion compared to ML so i would stick with the original combo of 10.6.8 and 9.1.8 if i were you... though of course that may prevent you updating to Komplete 9 though according to several forum posts, Komplete 9 will run under 10.6.8 without issue even though it is not officially supported...
http://www.gearslutz.com/board/music-computers/851152-komplete-9-anyone-using-os x-10-6-8-a.html
If you are upgrading from an earlier version you shouldn't have an issue but if you try and install Komplete 9 from scratch, the installer will not allow you to do so under 10.6.8 it seems..
However, back to your original question... it depends on what is causing the instability in the first place as I ran 9.1.8 under ML without issue here.... though imho, the most stable combination of LP9 and OS X is, for me at least, 9.1.5 and 10.6.8
Usually such instability is caused by driver problems with OS X rather than LP itself..  but some people suffered from graphic lag running under Lion and ML so again, it depends on what sort of instability you are refering to as to what may or may not be best for you.

  • Logic pro 9 on mavericks: problems with kontakt instrument Drumlab

    Hello!
I purchased drumlab on september 2013. It worked properly on my macbook (late 2009, with expanded 8GB ram) with logic pro 9 and kontakt free player 5. Unfortunately, after a few days my macbook suddenly broke.
Now I have a new macbook pro (2.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB ram, 256GB PCIe-based flash storage) and I downloaded and installed again logic pro 9.1.8, kontakt free player (5.0.1.5371) and drumlab (from my "order history page"). Everything is working (even other kontakt instruments) but not drumlab. When I try to load the drumlab instrument in kontakt the message "THIS PATCH WAS CREATED WITH A NEWER VERSION OF THE APPLICATION etc." appears.
I don't think it's a problem of compatibility (these are the latest versions of the applications).
I tried to do what they suggest here http://www.native-instruments.com/knowledge/questions/346/KONTAKT+Error+Message% 3A+%22This+patch+was+created+with+a+newer+version+of+Kontakt%22, but it doesn't solve the problem. Really hope someone could help me with that!
    Many thanks!!

You need to update your Kontakt Player to the latest version which is v5.3.0.. The one you are using (5.0.1) is at least 9 months out of date... which is why you are having such an issue....

  • Logic Pro X is not working with nanoPAD2

    Hello,
I bought the nanopad2, I am using it with Logic Pro X and I am having some strange situation, basically Logic is not respecting the changes that I do in the Korg Kontrol Editor, for example if I set in the Kontrol Editor that the first pad is D1 note when I press that pad Logic interprets that the note is A#1.
I thought that maybe the problem was the device but I have tested it in Reaper and it works perfectly.

Hi Guys, thanks but I have found the solution. Basically the issue was due a wrong configuration on Logic, in order to set up for use it with nanoPAD2 you have to go to: Logic Pro X -> Preferences -> Display -> Display Middle C as: G4 (Roland).
And it is all, the issue was fixed.
    Thanks for your help!!

  • Why is logic pro only showing 8 inputs with core audio?

I use Logic Pro and Pro Tools HD TDM and I have 2 audio interfaces with a total of 20 analog inputs.  It seems that in Logic, I can only access 8 inputs. I suspect this has something to do with core audio and logic but there has to be a way around this that allows me to use all 20 inputs right?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Too bad you're not running an earlier version of Pro Tools, prior to 8.03 or you could use your system under DAE and have access to the HD system in Logic, or at least in some versions of Logic 9.
    http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/Compatibility/en363063
You will be limited to 8 ins under core audio as I recall... this is due to Avid's core audio driver.
    Here's more about HD support.

  • Which Logic Pro interfaces will it be with no compromising?

    Hello
I wanted a round about to which Logic Pro interfaces people think could be the most practical and best sounding with no compromising?
Digi feels like compromising for pro tools sessions, which is fine if you work for the man or have one, but my question is whats the best interface or and mixer i/o in terms of sound and practicallity with Logic not Pro Tools.
So far i only found suggestions hinting to smaller i/os like the firebox or Ensemble which have leeps in prices for example.
    Anyone have insight to share?

There are a few ways at this point. If you want an all in one RME is a good choice with a good balance of sound, I/O and stability. MH does offer their interfaces with and without DSP. You can use aggregation get any combo you like. If you're more interested in recording 2 tracks at once ULN-2 and another interface for your less frequent I/O. I don't recall you specifying your budget and needs so I can only throw out so many suggestions, some may hit the mark. What Sample Rates do you want to record to what devices (Digital Mixer?) do you need to connect? AFAIK nobody can comment on the ensemble at this point. At this point RME and MH seem like your contenders. If you want quality and affordability you'll have to make sacrifices somewhere. Maybe a 2882 and the option to get a decent pre if you dislike the pres built in.
Mark wasn't disagreeing with me and makes a good point, the 2882 pres are usable. I have used them many times. For the features on the 2882 it's a steal (IMO) but the conversion is where the quality lies. Can you find a great 8 ch pre for $1200?-not easily (price comparison refers to 2882 non-DSP). For me, the quality is focused more on the conversion, you'll have the option to buy a pre if you don't find them sufficient. Concerning the pres, many pro recordings are done with them but often they use mics with hotter outs. They are not bad, I think it's a great box, for high quality recordings with ANY mic-you'll want to know a pre is a good idea. ULNs can also remember their boot states so if you want to use it as a master clock and your primary AD/DA then use another interface for the additional outs that's another option.
So I suppose some narrowing down and specifics are need at this point if you can't decide.

  • HT202415 Does Logic pro 9.1.8 work with yosemite?

I installed from retail disks on new internal ssd.

    Hi,
I'm not the best one to help with this as I've used the same installation for a long time and always loaded the operating system in new.
Is the external drive a boot drive with the operation system on it? If so you can copy the Logic "Preferences" file from the external installation to the Yosemite installation.
It's located in the     Users/YourName/Library/Preferences folder, the name is com.apple.logic.pro.plist
This is a different Library/Preferences that is located in the root position of your drive.
If you had a default project you started up with each time you can copy it over as well, it will usually be located here.
    Users/YourName/Music/Logic
These are correct if your external drive is a boot drive and has a Logic install on it.... the files need to be copied to the same location on the Yosemite install.
Have a gig, heading out, someone will jump in I'm sure.

  • Logic Pro 8... not with Mavericks !

Logic Pro 8 gets all black, behind the playhead.
Before, on Lion 10.7.5, it was working fine.
Now, on Mavericks, it is **** !
Mavericks was free... but now I will have to spend $200.00 on Logic Pro X.
I should have stayed with the old system.

You can try reverting to 10.7.5.
Revert to a Previous OS X
Revert to former OS from Mavericks

  • Logic Pro 9.18 32 bit with Tascam US-366 Audio Interface

    Hi
I recently purchased a Tascam US 366 Audio Interface to use with Logic Pro 9.18
I have uploaded the latest drivers/firmware but have a problem with crackling/popping
The problem seems to be that the CPU in Logic is peaking when the US 366 is chosen in the audio section...Pro tools aggregate and built in audio is very low within the CPU! Any ideas before returning the product! Have tried everything!

It records in 24-bit with the check box enabled - this is more than enough for recording and exceeds the dynamic range of convertors.
    16-bit when unchecked.
Do not confuse how an application is compiled (32-bit or 64-bit) with how audio is recorded or processed - they are completely different things.

  • Can Logic Pro 7 Plugins be used with Logic Express

Hello, does anyone know if you can use the instrument plugins in Logic Pro 7 with Logic Express.

The cool advanced features that are part of Logic Pro are embedded in the application and can't be used as plug-ins on other systems such as Express. For good reason, eh?

  • Logic Pro 7 - Audio Track record with Firewire In

System: Mac Book Pro. Logic 7.2.3 M-Audio Firewire 410. Aggregate device created = Firewire Multichannel (as input) & Built-In Output. (Built-in microphone turned off) Using condensor mike connected to F/W interface
SYMPTOM: No Audio being recorded to Audio Track. MIDI interfaces OK.
Any idea how to set Audio track to capture Firewire audio IN? (The set-up works properly with Garage Band)

Have you checked the Audio Input in the Channel Strip? What is it set to? Have you armed the Record button? ... say a bit more about your set up

  • Logic Pro 7 crashes on launch with brand new G5 dual 2.3

I just unboxed my new G5 and did the transfer from my old G4 with the "target disk" mode (I believe that's what it was called). The first couple of times I tried to launch Logic it crashed during Au validation, now it crashed right away (Logic screen displays "setting up memory buffers" when it crashes.
I've reinstalled from my original 7.0 disk, but that doesn't seem to over-write the app. So far I've tried pulling my prefs folder to the desk top and turning off all AU plugs via a 3rd AU manager.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,

Okay, Apple care transfered me to Logic Support who told me there was a file I needed to down load, some sort of "Pro app. support file", now it seems to launch at least.
    Thanks anyway....

  • Logic pro 8 sync problem, audio with Qtime movie  ......Help please....

    Ok.
I import Qtime movie into logic and extract audio track.
I drop extracted audio track into arrange window at start lined up with movie track.
Play movie to test, its out of sync with audio.
Check settings.on hardware and file info of Qtime movie.....48khz 24bit 25fps.
Only difference is audio from Qtime is 16bit not 24, as I understand the bit rate should not make any difference to the sync.
So I decide to sync visually the audio extract to the Qtime movie to check.
Play it back, roughly in sync.
I go to header of track and discover my audio track know starts 12 frames later
than the Qtime movie to be in sync.?? Why?
I export audo back to Qtime movie.
Play movie in Qtime...and....yep... its out of sync. by I guess 12frames
I use sound track pro for the same project and this does not happen. why?
everything is legal bought and payed for,All running on same computer and same hardware G5ppc and digi 002 rack.:(
    Any Help greatly appreciated.
