Hi navendukumar100,
Welcome to the Microsoft Mobile Community. Regarding the touch screen technology, the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL has a capacitive multipoint touch screen. You can control the screen by touching it with one or more fingers. This type of a touchscreen relies on the conductive properties of the human body and can sense even the slightest touch. While the Lumia 1320 has a super sensitive touch screen. It can detect touch even if you are wearing gloves.
Regarding the battery performance, the Lumia 1320 is much better. The battery capacity of this phone is 3400 mAh compared to the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL that has a battery capacity of 3000 mAh.

  • Please help; What makes the 2nd Gen iPod Touch better then the 1st Gen?

I am thinking about buying an 8gb iPod Touch, should i save some dough and buy the 1st gen iPod Touch or pay a bit more and buy the 2nd gen?
Also, what makes the 2nd gen iPod Touch better then the 1st gen, what has been improved, changed, etc...?
    Thanks in advance.

I had the 1st gen touch since it first came out and just got the 2nd gen touch last month. I'll list a few things I like about the 2nd gen touch.
    1. internal speaker. makes a huge difference in my opinion.
    2. new design. alot nicer to hold in your hand than the 1st gen.
    3. seems faster overall than the 1st gen touch.
4.display no longer has blue tint. now has more of a yellow tint. makes pics and movies look a little better.
If you can afford the 2nd gen touch I would highly recommend it.

  • Should these System Preferences match or is it better that the System sets 'Sharing Prefs' (set-up-name's-macbook-pro.local) and Networking/Advanced/WINS name MACBOOKPRO-****) *=numeric digit or letter

I'm now on another fresh OS reinstall which reverted back to the OEM Mountain Lion 10.8.4 after an upgrade to OS X Mavericks 10.9 When I first thought that the failed OS X upgrade could have been the caused by some conflicting networking settings that I discovered in System Preferences. I tried to match the computer name which I gave at setup which the File Sharing section users i.e. name's-macbook-pro.local with the WORKGROUP name which is generated in the System Preferences/Network Preferences/Advanced WINS section uses MACBOOKPRO-****.
However I am not using a Windows PC at the moment and don't expect to be sharing with anyone else using one so I'm a touch uneasy seeing these SMB WORKGROUP settings being established by the System and realising that these settings are not allowing the Administrator user (me) override as. If I do unlock my Networking Preferences settings to edit the WINS WORKGROUP name which is automatically generated as "MACBOOKPRO-****" whatever I enter reverts back to the settings the System has chosen, if I delete this generated name the default System WORKGROP name is reset even after pressing 'Apply' and locking the Networking Preferences again.
The symptoms which make me uneasy are random visibility of a sharing server named as the first half of my Wi-Fi routers SSID ie: BTHub5 not the random letters and numbers that follow BTHub5-****.
Problems setting up Lexmark and Epson printers. Suggested update from AppStore for Remote Desktop Client, I never purchased Remote Desktop but can see that there is a folder Remote Desktop Management in System/Core Services.
Unexpected permission changes appearing all over the System, example being that the user group 'Wheel' changing to 'Staff' I don't employ people and don't want or need filesharing with other computers.
Lots of System crash reports that mostly are listed as 'Exception Type:  EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)'
Is any of this normal or am I being stalked by a very persistent user? Thanks in advance for any tips you guys can give me.

  • Is the current version of AirPort Extreme better that the version I purchased two years ago?

Does the current Airport Extreme have better
range than the one I purchased 2 years ago?

    Not in regards to range.
If you have a new Mac purchased in the last year or two, you may get a bit faster connection on the 5 GHz band if the computer is in close proximity to the router.
If you need more range, you will do better by adding an AirPort Express or another AirPort Extreme to "extend" the wireless signal of your current AirPort.

My on-off button rarely works. I can power off with assistive touch. Is there a way to power on without the on-off switch?

Depending on what you mean by power off.  If you mean putting the phone to Sleep, you can tap on the Home button to bring it back. If you turn it off completely, then the only way to turn it on is to use the physical Power Button.

Does iTunes 11 still offer the radio streams that the previous editions did? For instance I could listen to Canadian Brodcasting from all over Canada, or NPR stations in different cities. I know they've added a Pandora like feature, but I'd like to keep the streaming radion feature as is.

Most concerning for this this writer is the removal of the user generated iMix ecosystem.  I am asking iTunes to bring back the iMix and I encourage you to do the same at their feedback page http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
I believe honest word of mouth  is the best recommendation and the iMix ecosystem contains plenty.  There are over zealous self promoters and fanatical fans in there  too but at least the content its real opinion and generated by real people.  Which is far better that the beefed “Listeners Also Bought” box which just looks like machine generated advertising to me."

  • Why do I read everywhere that the new edition ***** (is so bad)?

why do I read so many angry posts on the new edition of FCP X? The ratings are so low by experts. Who can help me out?

Basically, FCPx is for complete n00bs, and gives a legion of bedroom 'film makers' and 'editors' the delusion that they are now working with a professionally acceptable application.
FCP 7 / studio 3 on the other hand, is a functioning tool that professionals and post-production facilities have dedicated their time and creative energy to, only to be dropped at the click of a finger by Apple.
The standard of 'professionalism' that Apple had nurtured over the years I'd dropping each month. You can witness the decline on this forum, with some of the enquiries and questions being embarrassingly amateurish, reeking of lone-wolves trying to figure out what a codec is, or asking 'So, what is XML?', or blasted questions about 'Ken Burns effect'.
Call me a snob, but to be brutally honest, anybody who likes and favours FCPx as it stands at the moment, the vanilla release, is a pure amateur who has no clue what is involved in working in a truely professional environment.
Up until the release of FCPx I never said a bad word about Apple, apart from when they dropped FCP server and released QTx. I bet that the majority of people who purchased FCPx, this so-called 'professional' application, don't even know the significant differences between QT7 and QTx. As long as they can 'share' (puke puke) their masterpieces to Youtube and Facebook they're happy, and even happier now that they can kid themselves they're learning a Pro App.
The damage is done. FCPx is a PR disaster for Apple, who turn out to be little more than a toy manufacturer, making cute little gadgets and well designed stuff that you really don't need.
Personally, I feel quite gutted that they rolled out FCPx with this iMovie type GUI. I love the complexity and depth on NLEs , and would rather have a screen gull of digits and confusing tools that take time to master.
I don't want the many years I invested in FCP to be washed aside at the blink of some corporate suit's whimsical eye.
I've used FCP for many many years, and when I work with clients, in big post production houses, it's often said that it looks like I'm playing the piano. I work extremely quickly, using every keyboard shortcut and trick of the trade that can only be learned through dedication and many years as a craftsman. FCP is how I earn my living, it's how I bought my house, it's how I could afford to have a nice wedding and go on a nice honeymoon, but now with the release if FCPx, and the fact that Apple will likely kill FCP7 , mu earning power has been completely undermined.
All thanks to a generation of Youtube users who want to share their life stories with the world, and that market that Apple has chosen to tap into.
I'm thinking of dropping editing altogether and focusing on After Effects and Cinema4D. At least those applications demand respect, whereas editing just seems too accessable and n00b friendly to be taken seriously now.
    Just my 2 pennies worth.

  • How can I create a playlist that syncs with my ipod touch 5 that plays both podcasts and music? Before updating to itunes 11 I was able to do it and now it seems that the power is gone. (I do not have the podcast app on my ipod touch 5)

When apple first introduced the podcast app for my iphone I discovered that installing it took away the option to have a playlist (smart playlist or regular) that mixed music, audiobooks and podcasts. I therefore quickly uninstalled it and was happy to have my iOS devices happily mixing music and podcasts.
With the push to itunes 11.1 and iOS 7 on my ipod Touch and ipad mini I no longer have mixed playlists. I do see (according to itunes) that the podcasts are copied to my devices but there doesn't seem any way to play them. Nor do my mixed format playlists contain them.
When combined with the change to the podcast tab in itunes that shows all available by default and doesn't seem to offer any way to Turn it OFF so I can easily see what new unlistened to podcasts exist it seems that the way I got used to using my itunes since my ipod nano first generation has been eliminated. I haven't read why so if someone could point me to their logic on how come I would want the changes they keep trying to force on me I would at least understand their motives.
If no one has a better fix I have discovered that I can declare the podcasts to be audiobooks and get them to play that way. One downside to that approach is that it doesn't clear them out of the podcast folder thanks to the change to the iCloud friendly format or whatever they were hoping for.

And what is the wording of the error message?

  • I was gave an Apple iPod Touch that was disabled and I called the Apple Store and they emailed me what to do and I plugged my iPod up to the PC and now it's saying that the iPod is unable to be recognized and I don't know what to do now

I was gave an Apple iPod Touch that was disabled and I called the Apple store and they emailed me how to fix it but now when i plug it up to the PC it's saying that the iPod is unable to be recognized and I don't know what to do?

    Not sure if this helps:-
The music files, were they bought from your iTunes account or did someone gift them to you after buying from the iTunes account? If they are yours you can download them again if you clear or de-authorise the ipod, it has to be done by whoever gave you the ipod to do this (the registered  owner). If they were bought for you on another itunes account I don't think Apple let you use them as they are copyrighted and they don't belong to you, they belong to the person who bought them. If the music files where ripped from music cd's then click and drag them to a new folder on your desktop and have the person who gave you the ipod to de-authorise and unregister it. Then you re register it and put your files back from your desktop folder in your iTunes folder and synch. Hopefully that would work.  Any files which you did not buy, I would not know how get around this, best bet is to take it to you nearest Apple  Store and explain that they were gifted to you and ask how you can use them.  The best way to gift music files is to buy the gift tokens and give these. Hope above helps.

  • Is the iPhone 5 better than the Samsung Galaxy S4/Lumia 1020?

Is the iPhone 5 better than the Samsung Galaxy S4/Lumia 1020?

Like almost everything in this world is a matter of choice, but, if it is to logically make a choice here are a few criteria you should consider before picking up a smartphone:
    Do you really need it? - if not, the money will stay better in your account;
Set up the budget and consider the fact that smartphones get upgrades faster than computers and laptops, will you be able to upgrade?
Which operating system are you familiar with?
What are your needs and expectations from the smartphone?
    What type of person you are (email/chat/SMS/Social Media-man aka. communications, multimedia, productivity, gamer, etc.) this will help you chose the appropriate hardware and check out what are your options regarding the existing applications for your needs;
    Are you always on the run or work in an office? - this will help you decide from the battery life point of view;
If you own a tablet you might just need a simple smartphone.
Samsung does not really innovate in terms of functionality and usability, they only copy what others do and make it their own way. Android is not a mature operating system, yet. I like some of its features, of course, but I can rely on it when it comes to productivity as I'm a person who sends 100's of emails per day and need to easily manage the messages.
You can have the best hardware in the world but that's useless if you operating system is bad at managing those resources, you will not be able to exploit the device to the fullest and you might cry over the money you've spent :-) Nevertheless Samsung has a large market share, makes good phones, but not quite smart, they are rather... intelligent, a smartphone is smart from the day you buy it, you don't have to put it in training mode :-)
As about Lumia, I don't have much to say, it's what iPhone had at the iPhone 4 version minus the 40MP camera and the operating system. If I want a good camera then I buy a camera, a Canon or Nikon :-) Yes, the Krait CPU, so what? That CPU is managed by a Wi*dows OS and that should say everything. I'm not against Micr*soft, they had/have their part in technology progress, but I'm more into stable operating systems, I'd chose Android over Wi*dows, yet Nokia were always great at hardware and batery life. Bad choice for Nokia, look at their sales and you will understand.
That's just my two cents, but iPhone is the choice of millions when they chose their first smartphone: is user friendly, solid, great hardware specs, lovely screen, wonderful support, high-level security, multimedia at its best, a design that catches the eye, looks and feels great in your hand, it's light, you have millions of verified apps in the store and a nice community to tell you all these :-)

  • Is the Facetime experience with an iPad 3 better with the Touch 5th gen over a 4th gen?

I want to buy an ipod touch to use Facetime with my wife as she has the iPad 3.
I intend to use the iPod touch for the following reasons:
    60% - Facetime to an iPad 3 (iOS6)
    25% - Rear camera for photos/video
    10% - Music/Apps
    5% - Other
I've briefly introduced myself to Facetime at an apple store when it was first introduced but never physically seen it in use outside an apple store.
I'm trying to justify why I should buy a 5th gen 32GB touch over a 4th gen 8GB. I'm GUESSING the REFURB 5th gens, when its released from the apple store, will go for $249CAN instead of $299CAN; a 92%/$120 price difference over the 4th gen refurb ($129CAN).
    Just so you're aware, I could easily justify buying a 5th gen 32GB refurb $249CAN over a 4th gen 32GB refurb $179CAN.
Besides the obvious (hard drive space, camera resolutions, future iOS upgrades, etc.) is the Facetime experience with an iPad 3 better with the Touch 5th gen over a 4th gen?
    Much appreciated in advance.

Upgrading to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
    Do this first...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...
    Snow Leopard Tech Specs
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
If so... Purchase a Snow Leopard Install Disc...

After the Successful Install, run Software Update to get the latest updates for Snow Leopard and iTunes.
You should now be able to Sync.
Be sure to make a Backup of your Current System Before Upgrading...

I have 2 touch's that froze when trying to update to the latest ios version. Neither respond to restarting the devices. They are also not recognized in windows or itunes. How do I get these to work. I followed all of the instructions on  the apple website and they still don't work. I have verified that I have apple support for mobile devices installed in itunes and my version of itunes is 11.0.1. I am running windows 7 64bit with service pack 1 installed and all of my updates are current. Is anybody else having this problem with their apple devices?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
