Is macwasher a good product?

I have a friend who has had good luck with macwasher, but the on line reviews are mixed.,
He swears that it has sped up his imac and is a great value.
Any helpful thoughts from other macwasher users?
thanks

Without even looking at the website, this is a definite NO!
These types of apps are more like malware and most here consider these types of so called "cleaning" apps, "Crapware"
This is "crapware"
DO NOT INSTALL!
Why do you think you need this?
What are you trying to accomplish on your iMac with this?
There are better, safer ways to deal with clearing out unwanted or unneeded data off of a hard drive.

  • Analog to Digital Converter-- What's A Good Product For My System?

What would be a good analog to digital converter for Final Cut Express HD 3.5 on a Mac OSX 10.4 system? I've used a Canopus on a MacPro with Final Cut Pro before and liked it, but wasn't sure what would be a good product for my macbook. I've looked at the Canopus advc-110 and 55 but am not clear on the difference and if it would work with what I have.

The ADVC-55 is capture only. It includes composite & s-video inputs and stereo audio inputs. Firewire output.
The ADVC-110 is bidirectional (meaning you can both capture and output through it - this is a very good way to monitor your video during production as you can see the actual quality on a monitor/TV rather than just your computer screen, which has limited capability to show you the actual video quality.) It includes composite & s-video inputs and outputs; stereo audio inputs & outputs; Firewire input & output.
The ADVC-300 is also bidirectional and includes composite, s-video and component video i/o (D1 connector) inputs & outputs; stereo audio inputs & outputs; Firewire input & output; and software that enables you to tweak its video settings. Helpful in cleaning up particularly bad analog videos.
I've used these things for years and they all work great. I do not believe there is any difference in the internal conversion hardware ... The primary differences are support for one-way vs. bidirectional conversion; input/output connectors; and the software that comes with the ADVC-300.
If you have basically clean analog video, any of these units will be fine. You can use any analog source (VHS deck, camcorder, DVD player, etc.) and would typically use iMovie or Final Cut Express to capture your video on a Mac.

  • What is a good product to connect laptop to the tv

I'm looking for a wireless way to connect my laptop to my tv anyone know of a good product

I work for a very large MSO (cable company) and would recommend going with the Motorola 6121 from Best Buy.
This modem is extremely reliable and is a workhorse in the cable world. While all modems would work fine, I have noticed the 6121 continually outperforms every other modem (Arris, Ubee, SMC) that I work with daily, both on maintaining bandwidth in areas with poor signal and at recovery from outages. The other good news is being Docsis 3, it is somewhat future resistant, meaning the next 5-7 years of speed increases, you should be compatible. Also, it has a gigabit ethernet port, which matches the highest output of your Airport Express.

  • Can someone tell me if this is a good product for the mini?

Go to this website (you have to copy/paste into your web browser):
    http://cgi.ebay.com/Apple-MAC-mini-80GB-HD-Backup-Firewire-USB2-0-HUB_W0QQitemZ5 808009357QQcategoryZ80044QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem
it's an external 80 GB hard drive for the mini, and the mini sits on top of it perfectly. do you think this would be a good product to buy if i get a mac mini with only a 40 BG hard drive? thanks and please reply! i'll appreciate it a lot! i promise i will!

Sounds fine to me. However - the price is rather high. Pricegrabber shows the same product for $125-140 along with lower shipping rates.

The 160 GB and 250 GB versions can be had for about the same as this eBay seller wants for a 80 GB version.

  • Is Integro a good product?

Is the anti-malware product Integro a good product?

You are likely to get conflicting opinions in answer to your question. about Intego.
I'll start by saying you don't need it and is also often implicated in kernel panics that users report on here.
If you absolutely feel the need to install an anti-virus program the one that is consistently recommended on here as working well with Macs is the free/donationware clamXav

  • Any suggestions for what to look for in a good production monitor?

I'm in the market for a production monitor and I'm looking at B&H's online catalogue now. Any tips on what to look for and if anyone has any recommendations or favorites? Thanks.

it would help if you could determine a budget and then shop for models within or slightly above that budget.
basically, some necessary items are switchable aspect ratio, underscan/overscan and then some sort of blue check for proper chroma and phase calibration. some monitors have a gray scale blue check which i think completely blows. it's better to have a monitor with viewable red, blue and green guns as the blue gun is more accurate for calibration than a grayscale blue check feature. also, there are other diagnostic functions that are viewable by using the red or green guns to view color bars.
some other nice features to have are horizontal/vertical delay, sdi inputs, hd-sdi inputs.
it's been mentioned in the last larry jordan newsletter than the crt monitor is going the way of the dinosaur and now sony and panasonic are marketing lcd products only. i think this is a very sad trend. as a freelance video operator/camera shader, i am of the opinion that lcd monitors are horrible; they hurt my eyes and the color rendition isn't as accurate as a crt. leitch is now manufacturing an lcd scope which is just terrible to behold. the black area of the vectorscope is a huge, amorphous blob of white light that shows no signal detail whatsoever.
i don't know what to make of larry's statement as a quick check of the sony business website reveals only bvm crt's in their product lineup, no more pvm series. i haven't looked at the panasonic product catalog yet.
although the sony pvm L5 that shane mentioned is a quality product, to my eyes, i would get an ikegami monitor but you'll find that the superior imaging of the ikegami also has a superior price point.
one last point, don't buy an used monitor from ebay, you don't know where it's been or how it's been treated. give jvc monitors a fair shake as well, not a bad product for the price, no matter what their reputation is.
    good luck.

  • Is mac keeper good product

    is mac keeper good product

No, and there have been at least two class action lawsuits filed recently against the company that distributes it.
If you already installed it, please write back for removal instructions.
Never install any product that claims to "speed up", "clean up", "optimize", or "accelerate" your Mac. Without exception, they will do the opposite.
MacKeeper is not the only such product, it is merely the most notorious due to marketing strategies that are as aggressive as they are effective. Avoid all such junk.

  • Is MacBook really a good product? Is it better then Windows, really?

Problems with random shutdowns, heat problems, etc. (Please take your time and read if you got the time and all that, thanks! Your a great person, really, you are!)
I walked went to the Apple Store in my city, I told about the heat issiue and he told me "Just bring it in and will fix it!" I was there to talk about their product since I was\am planing to buy new laptop. And I give it a thought, why would a dude from Apple Store tell me to deliver it to them so they can fix it (what? In 2-6 weeks, that is many hours without laptop at school, bad for my business.) And was there not a update now who would fix that problem? Strange he tells me to deliver and not talk about the patch or update, whatever you wanna call it. So the thing, yes the thing is I have read that it only makes the "air condition" go 24\7, that is what update does to fix the heat issiue, in my opinion that is not a fix. Apple MacBook "air condition" thing that makes noise was like not ment to go 24\7, it feels silly not even doing a thing and you will hear it just go, svsssh svsshh!
Now about one other thing, I tested a MacBook white with probably 1.83GHz and 512MB RAM...
It took about between 1-2 seconds to open a folder in MAC OS X or whatever you call it. Is that good? That scares me, really. If you get delay on 1-2 seconds just open a file, folder, native ordinary program, how about everything else? Heh!
Tell me the best things about MacBook and the worst things?

You really have two questions here:
    1) How good is the Macbook as a laptop computer?
    2) How good is OSX as an operating system?
Answer to #1: Apple computers have rated among the highest and best, including their laptops. They last longer, have a higher resale value, and usually have less problems. The MacBook is a new laptop with a new stuff included--things like a camera and Intel processer. So it is a "Rev A" as it were and like all such computers, especially delicate laptops, there have been hiccups.
These are getting addressed and fixed, however, as said, Apple has sold a lot of these computers--they're incredibly popular and most of them are problem free. So the percentage of problem computers has been fairly low and is getting lower. You have a much higher percentage chance of getting a good, problem free MacBook.
I have a problem free MacBook and it is an EXCELLENT laptop. The best I've ever had. The keyboard is amazing, the built-in camera wonderful, the screen stunning, the trackpad responsive. It's comparatively thin and lightweight. The magnetic plug has saved it from being pulled onto the floor by my clumbsy feet and by the cat. It's fast and responsive.
    2) OSX--OSX has been able to do everything that Visa claims it will be doing when it gets released in '07. And it's been doing it for several years now. In other words, Windows is lagging waaaaaaay behind Apple in the OS department.
I know you say you trust PC's but when it comes to Windows OS...why trust it? 95% of the market uses Windows. That means, no competition. That means, they don't have to give you anything good. They can write up a terrible OS and you're stuck with it--because you buy PC's and they run Windows.
Apple wants more market share, so they have to make their OS better so you'll want to use it.
What's more, because 95% of PC's use Windows, people who create viruses create them for that 95%. But not usually for Apples--the OS of which is hard to bug anyway.
So. Great OS that's not vulnerable to viruses. Why do you trust PC's again?
OSX is full integrated, that means everything works with everything else, seamlessly. And all the software to do all kinds of amazing things comes with your computer. Gratis. You don't pay extra, it's bundled with the computer. Programs for photos, animation, music, as well as mail, calendars, widgets, Quicktime, etc, etc, etc.
As if that's not enough...it can run Windows. So if you want to stick with Windows, you can.
I really don't know what more you want from a Laptop. A good one, that is.

  • I was surfing the web and got tricked into downloading MacProtector.  It says my system is infected!!  Of course they want almost $80 to register the copy that is on my laptop.  Is this a good product??  Should I get something else, like Norton antivirus?

I was surfing the web and got tricked into downloading MacProtector.  It says my system is infected!  Of course they want almost $80 to register the program so I can then use it to clean up my machine.  Is this a good program??  Should I get something like Norton antivirus instead??

Yes, turning off Javascript works, but turning it on and off is a pain if one has to make a trip to the preferences.
Why many recommend the NoScript Add-on as one can drag a "allow" button to Firefox's toolbar and turn on scripts on a site per site, case per case basis.
NoScript also protects against other web nasties, like Clear click jacking and zillions of other web based trickery.
    http://noscript.net/changelog
Apple Support Forums works fine without Javascript running, I do it all the time, it also supports HTTPS encrpytion too.
It might be that I'm not seeing a lot with Javascript and other things turned off, but the post box functions etc. work just fine.
Maybe Apple is heading towards no scripts running on all their products?
First Flash gets the axe, then Java is coming next and perhaps finally Javascript? hmmmm?
    Smart move possibly.
Nope it's the same with it on or off.

  • Producing Finished Good product by using two different activity alternatively in OPM

    1) Suppose I am producing one material FG1 with Raw material RM1 and RM2. So basically there are two activities involved in this. One is grinding and another is mixing.
Now to perform grinding activity, I am using resource1 of capacity of 10 KG at one run and run time 60 mins.
To perform mixing activity, I am using resource2 of capacity of 10 KG at one run and run time 30 mins.
now I am producing the batch of 50 KG FG1. So practically, to produce 50 kg of FG1 I will be requiring the time of 5 hrs 30 mins.
    1) 1st run  Grinding will take 1 hr then
    2) Mixing will take 30 mins. meanwhile 2nd batch of 10 KG of grinding is started. so in 2nd one hr 20 KG is grinded and 10 kg is mixed.
same way continued and at the end of 5th hour 50 KG is Grinded and 40 KG is mixed. So after 5 hr 30 mins last 10 KG of mixing gets completed.
Now how will I achieve this. Do I need to define 2 different activities in single operation and run both parallely.
I am not sure how can I achieve this.
I am on Oracle EBS R 12.1 and this question is for Oracle Process Manufacturing.
Please treat this question on urgent basis.

    Michael,
    Not linking the tables together will most likely result in a cartesian product which you probably don't want. I would suggest either;
Union the tables together in a stored procedure if possible
    or
Use a subreport passing shared variables back to the main report

    Dear PRASAD
If you want to manage an item by serial number, you should define it in Item master Data -> General tab -> Serial and Batch Numbers->Manage Item by. You could choose 'Serial Numbers' or 'Batch'. • Why do product designers screw up good products like NUMBERS!! and make a new version

The old version of numbers had two functions I used all the time, One is splitting an individual cell and Two is categorizing column.
Now there gone and we don't have the option to down load the old version. it forces us use EXCEL!!!

You can still use the old version of Numbers. Just dig it out from a backup and copy it back over somewhere.

  • Adobe: good products, horrible customer service

Because Adobe let my personal information get stolen, which they notified me of by letter, I decided to switch the card (and bank info) on file for billing.  When they charged it four times for $1 each without any reason, I cancelled my month to month Ai to get this straigtened out.  I then received an email that stated my access was now reduced, even though I have paid until Dec. 22.  Adobe, what is going on?  Can I get someone here to help?

Wow.  I had no idea this was such a major issue with Adobe.  Looks like someone named Bev tried to help one person and has left hundreds of others go unanswered.  What happened Adobe?  Who hurt you?  Someone in house take the money and run?

  • Good Product bad customer service

I have been happily using Infinity for some time and pleased with it, BUT...
I have been without my phone line and Infinity since Oct 11th - its now 25/11 and still dead!
Every time I call the 151 number I speak to a different person - the only consistant message I get is that if its my fault I will be charged £129.99 - This despite the fact that engineers have been to my house and identified a BT network problem, dug a trench through my garden, through my drive and run a new cable to the outside of my house!
all I ask is that they finish the job, but no they tell me the problem is in my house - quite how they determine that I dont know as the cable is still sitting unconnected outside my house!
Can anyone tell me if BT are liable for any penalty for this abysmal performance or indeed am I going to recieve some sort of financial compensation?
I cant believe how many other people on these forums have suffered similar delays in service provision!

BT do not provide or maintain the external network. This is done by Openreach who work for all service providers. BT do not get any special treatment.
I have asked a moderator to provide assistance, to see if they can find out what is going on, they will post an invite on this thread.
