Is Man mini any good for gaming?

Hi everyone !
I'm planning to buy a 2014 Mac mini (16gb, corei7). But i'm not sure if it's good for hardcore gaming (GTA V, Battlefield 4...) because of the graphics (Intel Iris Graphics). I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me if I can run good games without any problems.

tons of people play minecraft on the Air, yes.
Is the Air an idealized gaming machine?  NO

  • IMac any good for gameing?

I've just returned my faulty Powermac G5 2.3GHZ Dual Core with the nvidia 6600 256mb graphics card and am thinking of replaceing it with a 20" iMac Core Duo with the 256mb Graphics card upgrade.
I currently have Quake 4 and Doom3 both of which ran ok on the G5, does anyone have any experiences of these and other games at reasonable quality settings etc?

I have bootcamp on an iMac and its awsome.
I have unreal tournament on both OSX and XP, on XP it is around 50% faster, don't believe the hype apples graphics handling for games is appalling compared to XP, simple fact when its there on the same computer. Open GL is broken compared to Direct X, even MacWorld admitted it.
I am currently running Oblivion on XP and it runs well (Although frankly I don't know what the fuss is about if I look at someone funny I am slammed in jail and its starting to get tiring!)

  • Just purchased the new Macbook Pro 13-inch: 2.3 GHz, Is it good for gaming?

Right, so I just purchased the new Mac Book Pro 13-inch: 2.3 GHz, Is it any good for gaming, On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best) how good?
Can I run games like The Sims 3 flawlessly? Will I have problems with lagging and speed .etc?

Sims 3 will run on medium setting with approximately 33 fps (which is ok).
Most other games will run on low settings, some on medium. Its definitely not a gaming laptop but it can handle some games.

  • 15" Macbook Pro i7 4GB Ram good for gaming?

Hi, I'd like to know if the 15" MBP i7 4GB Ram good for gaming? I'm not gonna be an intense gamer I would just like to play games during my down time. All I will be playing is like 1 MMORPG and maybe 1 or 2 FPS games. I will not be doing this all at once. I will be using bootcamp. I have some friends tell me that they wouldn't play games on the MBP because it could ruin it? Is this true? They tell me that it's not wise to play games on this laptop.

It would depend on the games and how demanding they are, but generally laptops make for horrible gaming platforms in general. Apple laptops in particular tend to be among the thinnest of the bunch. A MBP can be thinner than plenty of netbooks out there while packing considerably more punch. That doesn't leave a lot of room for any excess heat that may be generated while gaming.
If we're talking older games, that probably aren't all that demanding, then maybe. If we're talking newer games that are pushing the limits of the laptop's specs, I'd recommend against it.

  • Which notebook model is good for gaming?

    Hello!
Prompt me please what better to take notebook for games from your firm?
    In advance thanks!

    Hi Dmitriy
Well, it's not easy to say which notebook is good for gaming.
A friend of mine has bought a Qosmio notebook and was satisfied with the performance. Also the newer Satellite notebooks are pretty performance strong.
In my opinion if you want to play only the games and the portable factor is not very important for your so I would recommend to use the desktop PC.
The desktop PC is easier for device and part upgrading. You can change the CPU and the graphic card. The notebook upgrading is not very easy and some parts like graphic card or CPU cannot be changed.
Also the graphic card drivers are very important for the gaming. Notebooks manufacturers use not original graphic card manufacturer's drivers. They design own graphic drivers because of the graphic card overheating protection. Sometimes such drivers are a little bit older then newer original graphic card drivers and not compatible with the newer games.
    It's your choice.

  • Is the MacBook Pro with retina display good for gaming?

I was looking at the MacBooks and I was thinking about the one with retina display.  I wanted to know if it was good for gaming also. Just something like skyrim or maybe WOW.

If you're not a heavy gamer, then yes it will be great.
I play WoW at full retina display with the performance I noted above - if you have trouble, you could always revert to 1440x900 just for WoW and Skyrim.
I know WoW lets you choose a resolution within the game so nothing wo worry about outside - not sure about Skyrim but maybe so?
I am a light gamer. I used to have a 2011 MBA, just an off the shelf model with no upgrades, and it played WoW very well for its size etc.
An iMac would be great too. For the price of a rMBP you could go for an iMac for games/home use and a base spec MBA for working on outside...?
However iMacs are pretty outdated atm - not allowed to say much on here but might wanna wait for something to happen...

  • 24" iMac any good for games (compared to Mac Pro)

    Hi,
I'm on my second Mac Pro and after no end of trouble so i'm hoping to exchange it for a 24" imac but i was wondering if it's any good for games?
I would probably configure it with the 7600gt and maybe the 2.33ghz proccessor.
My mac pro with the x1900xt ran Quake 4 and Doom3 etc at full stettings really well but i've just had to much trouble with it!

The iMac would be fine for games for now, but you are stuck with the configuration that you purchase as there is no way (for now) to upgrade the video card.
There is a thought that some OEMs might make an upgrade card, but as of now there are none.
The big advantage of the Mac Pro is that it has the PCI-express video card that you can remove the stock card from and add a newer, better card.

  • Is the 802.11 ac good for gaming?

we have 3 xboxes in my house and I was wondering if this device would be good for gaming?

If you are trying to run 3 xboxes at once to online games you will find it well neigh impossible without a router that is fully Microsoft Vista UPNP spec and above.. due to the nature of NAT routers each xbox will need the same ports opened .. this is not possible.. only using upnp can xbox negotiate a different port.. and apple did not include upnp in the apple router.. so I think you are going to run into big problems.. you cannot simply use port mapping..
I would strongly recommend a router on the xbox compatible list.
here is the comment about apple routers for mulitple xbox connection.

  • Comic Life?  Any good for photos?

Found this on my iMac and I wondered if it's any good for making photo montages?
I use an online lab for photos so wondered if the files it creates would be good enough for uploading for poster prints (some up to 30"x20")?
    Any users know?

No, Comic Life is only good for making comics, it can't make any montages. As of today I deleted it, seeing as I won't make any comics on it. Also, it can't make poster prints because of the way the printing would turn out (think a lot of colored dots with no real picture).
So in short, deleting it would not harm anything, nor hinder anything. Just save up some space.

  • Is Virus Barrier x6 any good for virus protection/

Is Virus barrier x6 any good for virus protection?

I have never used it personally.  I have seen people here having kernel panics, and removing VB cured the problem.  But then, that's not good data, because I don't know how many people might be using it with no problems, and why those kernel panics might be occurring.

  • Good for gaming??

I am getting a laptop for college and I was wondering how the 17 inch macbook pro is for gaming. I play City of Villains, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead, Age of Conan, Lord of the Rings Online, and I will be playing Global Agenda,The Old Republic, and Champions Online when they come out. How can the new macbook pro handle these games?

Dont get a laptop with a videocard much stronger than the 9600 or 9800m. Any laptop with SLI cards will overheat and also weigh at least 10 lbs. If you really need a gaming machine then build a PC desktop. I would certainly agree that the 13" with the 9400m is all you'll need for laptop needs since you want something that's portable, has a good battery, and wont overheat. If you want power and dont care to carry a computer around, build a desktop. If you want a laptop, get the 13" MB or MBP. With a $2000 budget you could buy the MB AND build a desktop to run all those games flawlessly. In reality, a laptop will never run a game as nice as a desktop in the same price range.
Coming from a college student, the more portable your laptop the better it is. You will never carry around a 17" laptop no matter if it's Mac, Alienware, or w/e.

  • Is the New Macbook good for gaming?

I am about to buy a new MacBook Pro. I was planning on getting the MacBook Pro without retina with the i7, 1tb HDD and 8gb of ram. I am wondering if this will work for gaming. I am going to bootcamp with Windows 7 as soon as I get it. Is this a good idea or will I have problems with graphics or any other issues?

Okay, so here's my opinion on this as I have the MacBook you're planning to purchase. I have the 13 inch which means without the graphics card.
It's a decent gaming machine. It's okay for gaming here and then.
As OGELTHORPE mentioned, Mac's aren't meant for gaming. The machine will just get really hot, and won't give you the best performance.
Now as for me, I came from a 2008 sony vaio. The increase in performance was amazing, but for me.
So, go with a macbook air, and then build your own desktop. It's going to be much more beneficial. Although seeing your budget though, you won't be able to build a super powerful gaming PC, rather a standard, with simple graphics card gaming machine.
However, it's better than buying a MacBook Pro and gaming on it in my opinion.
