Is Mavericks.app for iMac same as that for Macbook Air?
I downloaded Mavericks.app for my iMac and then used the same installer (mavericks.app) to upgrade my Macbook Air 2013. The upgrade was smooth; but the battery life isn't very great.
Can someone confirm that there's Mavericks upgrade for iMac is the same as that for Macbook Air?
Thanks! Haven't had any problems with the software; except that I'm not happy with the battery life my MBA 2013, 13" offers after the upgrade. Looks like time to reset PRAM and SMC.

How can I sync apps from my iTunes on Macbook Air without syncing apps from the iPad 2 to my Macbook Air? (As my Macbook Air is only 64GB and my iPad is 64GB and that my Macbook Air only has 40 GB left...) Or is there no other way but to sync apps from iTunes to iPad without syncing apps from iPad to iTunes(it says Backing Up , then it says Converting files to iTunes, then it shows the name of the app on the bottom...)
Yes, sign in with the same Apple ID as your stolen one in the new iPod Touch.

I just purchased Acrobat XI for Mac, downloaded/installed on my MacBook Air, but the software will not open/initialize. What is the problem?
What is your Acrobat XI version? If less than 11.0.09 I would suggest that you update, then try again. Download updates from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Macintosh
Note that you posted in the forum for Acrobat.com online services; you may get better help if you ask in the Acrobat forum. -

I want to copy my iMac iPhoto files to a MacBook Air. How do I do this? Thanks.
I want to copy my iMac iPhoto files to a MacBook Air. How do I do this?
Do I drag and drop the iPhoto files or should I use a Thunderbolt cable?
Thanks.Connect the two Mac via a LAN or FW cable and Target Disk Mode and copy the iPhoto Library package from your iMac to your Pictures folder on MBA. All it takes is a drag and drop no matter how you connect the two Macs.
If you have an external HD copy the library to it and reconnect to the MBA and copy again.
If you have a library already on your MBA and it has photos you want to save then rename it before the copy. -
we have loaded office for mac version 2008 on a macbook air, and it prompts to make an account, but then you click to register it recognises it as 2011 version and tells you there is no need to register. we cannot get past this point? anyone else?
Yes. The whole process of registering is messed up.
No guarantee this will work, try unistalling and reinstalling. Uninstall has to be done the Microsoft way. Go to Applications / MO 2008 / Additonal Tools / Remove Office / Remove Office.
Then reinstall the usual way. This might work. -
I gave my MacBook Air to a person to use for a while, and now I got it back. I want it to be good as new before I start using it properly. Its okay if I lose data but I dont want to lose the Apps that were onboard. I want to start all over again.
ThanksAssuming you don't have a Time Machine backup before you lent your MacBook out, then you've a few choices.
If you want to set it back to the day you got it, then if it's Snow Leopard, use the micro USB stick that came with your Mac and after boot from it ( hold the Option key on startup) select the USB stick and when booted from it, go to Disk Utility and reformat the HD then install SL. when it's done and started in 10.6, select the install Applications from the USB stick, then your back with iLife apps etc.
If Lion, restart from the Recovery Partition as per the instructions above except you don't need anything plugged into the Mac, select Recovery and again DU erase and install Lion. once Lion is installed the iLife apps will be available to download from the App store as your MacBook will be recognised as coming with these apps.

I am exporting an ePub from a 57.6 MB pages file on my retina MacBook pro and the exported epub is 982.9 MB in size. Exporting the exact same file from Pages on my MacBook Air give me a 97.8 MB ePub file.
Both machines run OSX 10.8.4 and Pages 4.3. And the Pages file resides in my Dropbox.
What is going on here? Also ask in the forum for Pages perhaps:

When I read my roadrunner mail on my iMac, why doesn't my Macbook Air know I read it?
I recently purchased a Macbook Air and I have an iMac desktop, both running Mavericks. How can I get my Macbook Air to realize that I've already read my e-mails on the desktop?
Is Roadrunner a POP email server? You require an iMap server for this function to work, a mail server such as iCloud and Gmail among others.
Check with Roadrunner if iMap is available. -
IMac Core 2 Duo vs MacBook Air i7
hi all,
Q: performace-wise, which is "better"?
iMac:
2.66ghz Core 2 Duo
New MacBook Air:
1.8ghz Core i7
some background:
a few months ago (march 2011) i purchased an 11" MBA (1.4ghz Core 2 Duo, 128GB HD (currently with 80GB free), 4GB RAM) and i love it.
ever since the mba came along, i've been using my iMac (2.66ghz Core 2 Duo, 320GB HD (currently with 120GB free), 4GB RAM) a LOT less - if at all.
and with the release of the new i7 macbook airs.. i'm playing with the idea of selling the imac and my current mba.. and replacing both with a new beefed up mba.
from a (simplified) tech spec comparison i'm looking at this:
iMac:
2.66ghz Core 2 Duo
320GB HD (currently with 120GB free)
4GB RAM
Current MacBook Air:
1.4ghz Core 2 Duo
128GB HD (currently with 80GB free)
4GB RAM
New MacBook Air:
1.8ghz Core i7
256GB HD
4GB RAM
obviously an air-only set up has it's downfalls.. namely: inability to play/burn cds and dvds (unless i buy a superdrive) and a few other monitor/peripheral issues - but obviously these can be resolved with additional purchases... if necessary.
can you see any other pros/cons here?
but i guess the main question for me is - what's the difference between a Core i7 MBA and a Core 2 Duo iMac with an extra 0.86ghz?
Cheers,
Peteoops! my bad.
first off.. i don't use any of my macs for gaming.
a lot of my general day-to-day use is the standard web browsing, email checking, iwork, etc, etc
however, my more "heavy-duty" activities would include:
mixing/editing songs and drum programming using GarageBand (for drum programming/simulation i use a plug in called "EzDrummer")
basic image editing/manipulation with a program called "Seashore". basically a majorly simplified version of Photoshop. i quite like it, and it gets the job done to the point i need it done. however if the work i'm currently using seashore for increases to a point where i need something more.. i may end up needing to use Photoshop.
it might also be worth mentioning i do a lot of browser-based web design/editing with cms and ecommerce platforms like lightcms and bigcommerce.. but doubt you could really consider this to be "heavy duty" in terms of processing power, etc?
there's a possibility i may need to start using iMovie for a new job i'm about to go into. but that would be for editing 5min videos.. not 3 hour epics..
i also use iChat and Skype every now and again. and am required to remotely log in to various places using Remote Desktop and the like... but again.. not sure how "heavy duty" these tasks are. just figured i'd throw all possibilities out there -
App store doesn't upload on my MacBook Air
The app store on my macbook air will not load. Any ideas on what could be wrong?
Hello Nedish,
Thank you for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
If the App Store on your MacBook Air is not loading, there could be a few potential causes.
I recommend starting with these tips to troubleshoot the situation:
If you see a message that your computer can’t connect to App Store, make sure your Internet connection is working. If you can open a web browser and view a website, there may be a problem with the store. Try using App Store again later.
Make sure your computer’s date, time, and time zone are set correctly in Date & Time preferences. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Date & Time.
Make sure your Apple ID information is accurate and that you don’t need to correct a problem with a previous purchase. To verify your Apple ID information and review your purchase history, choose Store > View My Account or click Account in the Quick Links section.
The Quick Links section is located in the right part of the window shown when you click Featured, Top Charts, or Categories in the toolbar.
If you’re still having trouble, click Support in the Quick Links section.

IWork is not for free on 1 day old macbook air
Hello,
I purchased a new macbook air from an official retailer yesterday. I registered it online yesterday and got the newest mountain lion with it. It offered free iWork apps to me, but I decided to wait untill the mavericks update downloads so I can install it and then download all the essential things I need. After I installed mavericks, the iWork apps in appstore were no longer free. I don't know why, whether it is a bug and how do I get them for free since I have the right to. Can you help me out?Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Open the Mac App Store, go to Purchases and accept the iWork applications.
If they don't show up, have a look at this website > http://www.apple.com/creativity-apps/mac/up-to-date/ -
i've tried using the Migration Assistant and it was supposed to download the "applications" "settings" and "others files and folders" but I can't find them anywhere in the MacBook Air that's why I can't find the music either
If you created an account on the MacBook Air before using the Migration Assistant, it'll create a new one for the migrated files. You can also use an external drive or network to move the iTunes folder in the Music item of the Finder's sidebar over.
Rented movies can't be moved through these methods.
