Is Maya working on Mac-Pro yet,

And if yes what Graphic-Card?
Or is there Animation on FCP platform as i am working with a few developers that as been asking for this, as well as something like a Konal-Card for running RGB at the same time with any of the new card set to come, anyone!
Fr.BlayZay.

All EIDE / ATA (Parallel) devices (drives, opticals) allowed for two such drives or devices on one bus. The old style was "master" and "Slave" but CS is a "smart" approach, however, the master or only device must be on the end position. Also, the end connector will be black, the middle (slave) is gray.
Eject sends signal to master
To eject the "slave" device you use a modifier key.

  • IMessage and FaceTime not working on Mac Pro and message stating to contact Support came on

iMessage and FaceTime not working on Mac Pro and a message stating to contact Support came on with a verification code.  It was working on 8/29 but stopped on 8/30.  When I called support to even speak with anyone they wanted $19.  I don't want to pay $19 for an Apple problem.  I cleared my key chain, also reset my apple ID password but still not working.  Works fine on my iPhone.

There is no official public documentation of that error message as far as I know, but according to reports, it can mean (at least sometimes) that the same Apple ID is being used with the iTunes Store or one of the other Apple content stores, and the payment method is invalid. Sign in to the store and review your account. You do not, of course, have to provide any billing information to set up an account to use only with iMessage, as it's a free service.
Otherwise, do what the error message tells you to do. According to reports, you won't be charged for the call if you select "Apple ID" as the product you need support for, and cite the customer code in the alert as the "validation code" to the support representative.

  • USB superdrive not working with Mac Pro

Is there a trick to getting a USB Superdrive working with a Macpro?
The drive in the Macpro no longer ejects and have tried connecting the USB drive to both the front and back ports - does it not work with Mac Pros?
Any pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.

I had a problem my superdrive. It would play dvd's and cd's that were already burnt but would not burn blank DVDs or CDs- in the recent past it had no problems burning. In addition, the Finder would not display the superdrive. When I put a blank disc in it would go to Disk Utilities and would not allow burning. With help from Apple I discovered the problem-- The settings in CDS & DVDs had been changed from When you insert a blank DVD/CD "Ask what to do to  to  "GO to Disk Utilities". If this sounds like your problem try changing the settings to this:
Try going to; System Preferences/ CDs & DVDs
Change these two settings to this:
When you insert a blank CD: Ask what to do
When you insert a blank DVD: Ask what to do
NOTE: If they are already set to this you probably have a different problem. If they are set to Go to Disk Utilitiy this is probably a solution.
    And
    Then go to Finder Preferences
Make sure that under "Show these items on desktop:" that the checkbox for CDs, DVDs, and iPods is checked.
Try to burn the DVD again (reload Disc- perhaps restart) and try again.
Don't know how these setting changed but they did. It worked for me.

  • Seagate Backup Plus Slim External USB 3 Hard Drive Not Working with Mac Pro

Hi, I have just purchased a brand new Mac Pro.  I have three 2 TB Seagate Backup Plus Slim External USB 3 hard drives that just don't jive with the new Mac Pro's.  When the drive is connected, I cannot access the drive, read/write or even format.  Finder completely locks up and the drive cannot even be force ejected. When I try to format, Disk Utility either spits out an error that the drive cannot be read, or simply locks up.  This happens regardless of the OS on the Mac Pro.  I am currently running 10.10.2
I have ruled out an issues with the drives, as I have tested all of them on a variety of systems and OS's, including Power Mac, Mac Book Pro, PC, OS 10.7, 10.8, 10.9 as well as on Windows.  I have tried formatting in every file system including Mac OS Extended, Mac OS Extended (Journaled), NTFS and exFAT.  ALL other systems have no issues with the drives. Apple has replaced my Mac Pro with a brand new one and the drives still behave the same way.  Furthermore, I have tested the drives on three other Mac Pro's at work and they all reject the drives. So, on their own, there is nothing wrong with the Mac Pro, or the drives. However, the configuration of them together is wreaking havoc.
I have contacted Seagate, and this was their response:
The most recent version of the Backup Plus drives use the USB Attached SCSI (UAS) standard to increase transfer rates.  It's possible that the drivers being used currently on your Mac Pro are having issues using this feature with the standard USB 3.0 drivers installed.  I would recommend contacting Apple to check for any driver updates or see if they any suggestions for issues involving drives using UAS.
I have also started a case with Apple Support (Case # 755934373) and am waiting to hear back regarding Seagate's response.  I've spent DAYS trying to troubleshoot this and am now at a complete loss.  If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears (or eyes in this case).
    Thanks!

    Hi danielsh6,
I recently bought the new Lacie Thunderbolt 2 D2 3TB and I had the same problem as you, i have a macbook pro early 2011, those support thunderbolt but many times there is a bug that doesn't let you connect any thunderbolt drives to your computer. The solution I found was installing this update:
    Thunderbolt Firmware Update v1.0
Before doing this I would recommend you updating to mountain lion (not yosemite yet as there is still some glitches and more on preview's macbook pro's).
    Hope this helped!

  • External iSight microphone not working with Mac Pro

i have researched this extensively to no avail.
i have an external iSight camera plugged into a pci express firewire port (i got one hoping to solve the problem). the camera works fine except for the mic. it shows up in audio inputs in system preferences but will not produce sound.
i have troubleshot it by plugging it into a Powerbook G4 and the mic worked perfectly. i have also tried different firewire cables and plugged the iSight into the firewire ports on the machine.
does anyone know if there are know bugs with leopard and external iSight...seems so weird that it would work on a G4 and not my Mac Pro.
any insight or help would be greatly appreciated!

    Welcome to  Discussions, bigboi78
I do not have an iNtel Mac, but external iSight, including its mic, work fine on my 10.5.6 G5 DP tower.
As I understand, you have checked System Preferences, found external iSight as a Sound > Input device, and selected iSight's Mic. However, adjusting the "Input volume:" slider there while you make some sounds does not effect the fact that the "Input level:" digital VU meter there never flickers regardless of input volume setting.
I also understand that you used the same Firewire cable with your external iSight on both Macs, so we can eliminate a possible cable problem.
If my understanding is correct, I can think of two possibilities that may give you a fix before you seek help from an Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP.)
    (1) Be sure to test with ALL other Firewire devices disconnected to avoid Possible Hardware or Software Conflicts with iSight. If you have any untested third party iSight or AV software, you might even consider whether that could be causing a conflict.
    (2) Applying the latest Combo Updater often solves strange problems. Do it this way:
     • Download http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_6_ComboUpdate
but do not install it yet.
     • Disconnect all Firewire devices (if not already done) and restart your Mac
     • Repair permissions
     • Apply the 10.5.6 Combo Updater
     • Immediately after the restart that finishes the update, repair permissions again
     • Reconnect iSight (only) to test whether the problem is solved
     • If so, reconnect your other Firewire devices (if any) one at a time and test again
     • If the problem returns when you have multiple FW devices connected,
you need to keep the others disconnected while using iSight's mic.
    (3) My only remaining suggestion is to seek help from an AASP.
We will watch for your status update.

  • Gigibit Ethernet Doesn't Work on Mac Pro

I have a Mac Pro (Quad Xeon) and and G5 in my office. Both have Gigabit Ethernet cards. I never worried about getting this performance when I was using an old G4 for a server, but now I've got a Mac Pro also with a Gigabit network card for a server and have upgraded my router and hub to Gigabit capable models. Yet I cannot achieve better than base 100 connections. My hub is showing a gigabit connection to the server, but both Mac production machines cannot obtain gigabit connections. Anyone have a clue. On my Mac Pro, when I set the network to automatic connection speeds I only get 10Mb link speeds based on my Network Utility. I can manually set the ethernet speed to 100Mb and it works, but if I set it to 1000Mb, the network breaks entirely (0Mb link speed). Any solutions will be greatly appreciated.

Usually, when set to auto-negotiate, the host will pick the fastest speed it can reliably support.
If you turn off auto-negotiation and manually set a specific speed, you have to set it on both ends. Therefore if you manually set the Mac to gigabit, you have to manually set the switch to that, too. The how-to for that will vary based on the make/model of switch you're using.
That doesn't necessarily explain why the Mac selects 10mbps as the speed under auto-negotiation. That usually points at either a mis-configured switch (are you sure it's gigabit?), or poor cabling that cannot support/sustain gigabit throughput.
Have you tried a different cable?

  • Magic Mouse won't work on mac pro with d-link dongle

For the first time I am very unhappy with a purchase of an apple product. I today have finally gotten 2 of those magic mice; one is a present for my best friend (who is also excited) and the other one I wanted to keep for myself. Not more to say as an introduction.
Before I went back home I tried my mouse on one of my late 2007 macbooks, and after the mm update everything was great. I loved the handling, the style, simply everything about that kewl new gadget. I couldn't wait to get home to connect it to my "big boy", my mac pro, where I usually work on all my tasks in my office.
Since my "bb" is already a bit older (one of the first intel xeons -- 2x2 dual core engines, already upgraded for several times with drives and RAM) and didn't come yet with the internal bluetooth module I have a D-Link DWB-120M USB dongle in use which always has been reliable and so far has connected anything that cried for a bluetooth connection. Till today...
I installed the software update 1.0 on my big boy and started the recognition routine. The name of the magic mouse appeared, it tried to connect, but then broke up with something I've never seen before: "The pairing attempt was unsuccessful. Click "Continue" to try again."
I clicked "continue" for several times, read all the trouble shootings around the globe, reconnected it to my macbook (where it still worked fine and said, batteries are 100%), and finally must face the fact that maybe the dongle (or the procedure with it) must be the reason for the failure.
I am not really a dull-one; so I finally understand that the D-Link DWB-120M from 2004 might be inoperable in regard of the magic mouse. My bluetooth logi mouse still works with it, but I cannot make the magic mouse work at all.
So I want to ask into the big bubble if there are people around who could make the new mouse work on on a xeon mac pro with only a usb dongle, and which dongle it would be.. I already tried the support pages of D-Link, but, hey, ...should I really install IE6 or 7 on my mac to get support there??? I guess not.
Any hint is appreciated. I gladly will get myself a working usb dongle for my big boy, which would make the magic mouse work on it.
Thanks for your attention. Please add your experiences to my thread; maybe they're more people who would love to take advantage of your experiences.
..Blinky shiny magic mouse awaits its first job on big boy..
    Take care
    P

PS: I run 10.5.8 on all of my macs. I didn't upgrade to snow leopard yet, which I expect would not change anything until the mouse update has been done on all of my macs.
    Thanks again

  • Ok...DVI to Video Adapter will almost never work on MAC PRO, what the....

    ok
Thank you apple for making us all by the grand Mac Pro and upgrade to better video cards (like in my case 8800gt) and then offering no solution to replace the DVi to Video adapter which allows to have video mirroring.
Anyone has any idea how to make extended desktop or video mirroring work since this adapter is no longer compatible?
    Thank you

Yes I know that. my question is regarding what to use for a 8800 card

  • Mountain Lion 1.8.2 update made my dual monitor stop working on Mac Pro mid 2012

Just done Apple's update for Mac OS X Mountain Lion to 1.8.2 and after rebooting my dual monitor stopped working.
If I go on preferences -> Displays it shows me only one of my two monitors, even if I invert the connections the 2nd monitor doesn't shows up and there seems no way to enable it again.
    Any suggestion?
P.S. I already tried to set from "Best for display" to "Scaled", but after rebooting Mountain Lion 1.8.2 reset it to "Best for display"

    Ok,
did some extra test here, but first of all my configuration:
Mac Pro (Mid 2012) with ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB.
2 LCD 24" Wide-screen (1st monitor Hyundai W240D and 2nd Monitor HP w2448hc), both LCD worked perfectly until reboot after installing OS X 1.8.2
After reboot only the 1st monitor wored fine, the 2nd not even listed, so tried to invert cable connections on the 2 miniports on the ATI video card, but nothing changed, still only the 1st monitor working.
Did a second test, disconnected the 1st monitor and connected ONLY the 2nd and now the second works fine.
Tried to connect 2nd monitor on a different miniport, and i still works fine.
Updated my MacBook Pro to 1.8.2 (it as an nVidia card) and connected my 2nd monitor to it and everything works fine, both the laptop LCD and my HP LCD are working fine.
So it looks like Apple screwed up the ATI driver on the latest 1.8.2, now only ONE miniport is active.
To all users with the same Mac Pro configuration: hold to update to Mountain Lion 1.8.2 until Apple fix this driver issue.
More info are on the Console output, so will have to contact Apple on-line support to signal this bug.

  • Apple Keyboard with number pad doesn't work with Mac Pro?

I have a Mac Pro, and have used an Apple Keyboard with a number pad (not bluetooth) with it for quite a while, with no problems. But then my keyboard broke and I ordered a replacement Apple Keyboard with a number pad (not bluetooth). This keyboard doesn't work with my Mac Pro. I have it plugged in, but I can't get the Mac Pro to consistently recognize that there is a USB keyboard connected to it. What magical stuff do I have to do to get the keyboard to be fit for purpose?

It would not hurt to try an SMC Reset. (But if it does not help, it adds credence to lllaass assertion that the keyboard is not working.)

  • HT5219 did thunderbolt display worked with mac pro 2012 12 core ??

i buy mac pro 2012 12 core with thunderbolt display so how i can maake it work with us ??

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
If you want to use a Thunderbolt Display with your 2012 MacBook Pro, you can do it without any problem because your MacBook Pro has got a Thunderbolt port.
If you need help to set up the Thunderbolt Display, see its user guide > http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/thunderbolt_display_getting_started.pdf
Instead, if you have a Mac Pro (it looks like you have a Mac Pro because you say that it has got 12 cores), you can't use the Thunderbolt Display because the Mac Pro hasn't got Thunderbolt ports. Instead, you have to use the LED Cinema Display

  • Surround Sound not working on Mac Pro (Early 2008)!

I'm writing this as my last ditch attempt to solve my problem.
Recently I bought a 5.1 Onkyo AV Receiver, model HT-R558 as for the audio output of my machine.
I have connected the device components, however when connected to my Mac using a TOSLINK cable, all i recieve is stereo sound through the front left, center, and front right speakers. - The rear speakers give no output, and the subwoofer only works in iTunes.
As far as I was aware the process was as follows:
Mac Pro with output set to Digital Out connected to the digital out port --> Optical/Toslink Cable --> connected to receiver (Onkyo HT-R558 through optical in on receiver.
I have followed several Knowledge Base articles with no success.
Is the Mac Pro actually capable of 5.1 sound output, or is it an added non-working feature?
I have tried a system utility called Perian, but no luck, also i have found articles saying this can be fixed with Terminal, no luck either.
If anyone has any advice on correctly connecting surround sound to my Mac I would be extremely grateful! I only hope there is something I have overlooked.
At the moment i am running the system using Pro Logic II, though it feels like a let down.

I found the problem, the digital out on my Mac Pro is only capable of outputting stereo, this appears to be an OS X 10.6.8 issue that would need to be addressed via a supplemental update.
I know DVD Player can output 5.1 when set up correctly, so can iTunes movies; unfortunately this appears to be a problem that only has few solutions.
    1. Downgrade OS X to a version prior to 10.6.8 (however doing this causes incompatibility with my iOS devices.)
    2. Add a PCI Express compatible sound card, or use an external card (requires additional hardware purchases.)
    3. Use only stereo capable units with the machine (as anything with higher speaker configurations requires use of Pro Logic II from the receiver/amplifier; not to mention sounds terrible.)
Until, or if this is ever fixed I will stay with option 2, as it doesn't require use of additional software just to use audio, allows me to use the respective amplifier fully, and also sounds better.
Thank you for your advice, I just have to remember to be a little more careful when choosing audio products for use with Mac it seems.
    I am closing this question.
    Regards,
    Peter.

  • Help! Multiple Displays not Working. (Mac Pro late 2013).

    Hardware:
    Late 2013 Mac Pro
Processor: 3.7 GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon E5
Memory: 12 GB 1867 MHz DDR ECC
    Graphics: AMD FirePro D300 2048 M8
    Software: OS X 10.9.2 (13C64)
    Displays:
    4 LG Electronics S-Class 25UM64-S 25-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor's
    Display Connection:
6 Moshi Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter (4K)
    Issue:
First of all, thank you in advance for taking the time to help!
I just picked up this Mac Pro (as stated above) and I am having quite the time trying to get the monitors to display properly (or at all!)!
Everything is hooked up properly (i'd like to think so), i've run through most of the trouble shooting methods I can think of and have found online... and still, 2 of the 4 displays do not show! The Mac Pro is not recognizing two of them.
I was told that the MacPro could recognize up to 6 Mini DisplayPort to HDMI monitors, however, only 2 are working properly. Is it because of the Moshi Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters? Should I be running MDP to DP cables instead? The monitors support DisplayPort input's, however, they also allow for PIP hence the use of 6 MDP adapters to HDMI. (2 of the monitors are using the built in picture in picture split screen. So 2 HDMI inputs each).
Really pulling my hair on this one.. I figured it would be plug and play.. at least, that's how apple USED to be.
Any ideas?! Am I simply needing to use the MDP to DP cables instead of MDP to HDMI? Please help!
    Thank you!

    See:
Mac Pro (Late 2013): Using multiple displays - Apple Support
Can I connect more than 2 DVI or HDMI displays?
Mac Pro supports a total of two DVI or HDMI displays when connected via the built-in HDMI port or using the Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter. To connect additional DVI displays, use an active DVI adaptersuch as the Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapter. You can connect up to six active adapter DVI displays. This requires a powered USB hub since Mac Pro offers four USB ports and you will need six to connect them all.
Thus, use a display port to mini display port cable

  • No webcams working on Mac Pro, happened suddenly, need troubleshooting.

I have had a Logitech C910 webcam and a Mac Pro (Early 2008) for years.  They both worked well together.  The Logitech C910 worked out of the box as I recall.  I have been using it for Messages and Facetime, and both video and audio have worked.  A few weeks back, I was trying to determine options for screencasting a webinar.  I installed GoToMeeting and tried it out, as well as join.me.  I installed and uninstalled a few others that I can't recall.
At some point during this, my webcam simply stopped working for video.  It still works as a microphone, but Facetime shows no video, and Messages says "no camera is connected."
    - I tried resetting SMC.  It didn't work.
    - I have restarted many times.
    - Repaired disk permissions many times.
    - I tried reinstalling Mavericks (the way that preserves your data and files, just reinstalls the OS).  Didn't help.
    - In "System Report" it is listed there under USB.
    - Webcam works when I reboot into Boot Camp (Windows 7) meaning the webcam is fine.
    - I tried "sudo killall VDCAssistant" as suggested here:  https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4158054?start=15&tstart=0
    - If I plug in my old iSight firewire, the OS won't detect it for Facetime but it will for Messages.
I am at wits end.  It appears that something I did is causing a driver conflict or erased a neccesary driver.  However, I would think one of the solutions above would have worked and it hasn't.  I would greatly appreciate any suggestions!
    -Shahid

I used Carbon Copy Cloner. I swapped it into the main bay, enabled Screen Sharing and can confirm it works 100%. I also swapped my old dying drive that came with the system which was 10.5.x still and no  such luck either.
I tried pulling all drives and putting the disc in, but I don't see how that is going to help unfortunately since I can't see what is going on with no display.
I tried the reset, although I have been unplugging it everyday all week overnight.
I have thought about running Windows again, but it's not really needed right now. I just need Mac to run for the immediate future.
I don't think there is a problem with the RAM. I looked at them and they appear to be fine. They also show up fine in System Profiler and when Screen Sharing, the computer and programs seem to run as they should.
So, I guess, in the end it must just be a video card issue. I hope. I'll look into buying a new card, whether a 2600 or 5770 and see if I can get the display back. If not, then I guess it's a problem with the the logic board which of course would not make sense to replace anymore cause of cost.
Thank you for all your help. I really appreciate it.
