Is MBOX compatible with logic pro?

I was offered to buy an MBOX at a very reasonable price, and I have been looking into getting a preamp. Is the Mbox compatible with Logic express or just with pro tools? How would I benefit from this hardware?

Hi,
I can't speak for the mbox1. But I own an mbox2 pro, which is a GREAT box.
It's also highly acclaimed by folks who have put it to more scrutiny than me.
Being made by Digidesign is, IMO, a quality mark in itself. Say what you want about ProTools etc. (I prefer Logic by far), but hi-def audio is what they know.
I just had to download and install Digidesign's CoreAudio drivers to make it work properly - no prob.
It's not poor just because it's been on the market a few years. But whether you should get the (oldish) mbox1 or get something newer, is up to you

Can i use my mini Mbox 2 with logic pro 9 on iMac os x lion?

    Hi there,
Did you find out anything more in regard to this?
I have been using Pro Tools 8 with the MBox 2 connected to my iMac operating Leopard. It worked a treat for nearly four years.
However the hardrive has just been replaced on the iMac which now has Snowleopard.  I don't want to have to update to Lion and then fork out £500 for Pro Tools 10.
I would be content to get Logic Pro 9 if I can attach the MBox 2 to it.
    Your advice would be appreciated

  • Mackie onyx 1640i digital mixer compatible with logic pro x??

I have a macbook pro 10.9.1. And was curious about purchasing a mackie onyx 1640i digital mixer. Is it compatible with logic pro x DAW?? Feed back would be much, much appreciated!

Well I got the 13 mackbook pro retina, mackie onyx1640i three days ago and havent got the onyx and the mac to talk to each other.  Problem is, mackie had a firewire 400 output and the Mac has a thunderbolt input.  So i guess you got to use adapters?  I have an old macbook pro and it does have a 400 firewire input.  I dont know what they were thinking, they need a 400 firewire and one end and a thunderbolt cable at he other.  Marco805

  • Korg nano séries it compatible with Logic Pro x ?

Korg nano séries it compatible with Logic Pro x ?

It's usually not about if the hardware is compatible with LPX.. It's if it is compatible with Mountain Lion that matters... as LPX needs 10.8.4 to run...
So, if the Nano series is compatible with Mountain Lion, you should be good to go..
To find out, see Korg's website

...and download the compatibility chart found there...

  • Is GarageBand iOS 2.0.1 compatible with Logic Pro 9.1.8?

I run Logic Pro 9.1.8 on a Mac Pro 1,1 (Snow Leopard 10.6.8) and GarageBand 2.0.1/ iOS (7) on the iPad2. The songs are built on the iPad, then opened in Logic on the Mac. This worked like a charm until recently when the iPad was updated w/ the new GB. Used to just click on the ".band" file, exported from the iPad to the Mac via iTunes, and it would open in Logic (the only audio software on the Mac), but now it asks me to save the file instead of opening it. Then when trying to open the newly saved GB version in Logic you either get a blank arrange screen or Logic crashes and says it needs to be updated.
9.1.8 the latest version of Logic Pro 9, so is it asking me to get Logic 10? If so, it would seem that I need a new Mac as mine is 32-bit and Logic 10 is 64-bit.
Does Apple keep the GB and LP versions concurrent? Meaning that the current GarageBand is compatible w/ the current Logic Pro? The least expensive solution might be to go back to the 8 track GB for iOS, but how can I do that? I do not have that purchase on my app store account any more as it was purchased from a different account that I no longer have access to.
I don't ever remember having to first save the file in LP9 and then check a bunch of boxes in the Advanced section when saving it, but this does work to open the old files (8 track version of GB iOS) . So, I tried again w/ the new GB files (16 track version of GB) and Logic crashed again and said the file was "created on a different version of Logic" please update Logic. With no more updates for Logic Pro 9, it wants LP 10? Which I can't do bc of the specs of my computer.
Your thoughts and ideas are welcomed and appreciated. Thank you.

    iPad2 w/ GarageBand 2.0.1/ iOS 7

    Hi Lee,
Thank you. That is a great work around! Yes, where is 1.x that I paid for? Exactly! That would have helped immensely.
I tried to get Garageband iOS 1.x, but could not. Contacted Apple and they said I could book a service call w/ their technical department for about $30USD! For a $5 app that I already paid for?! Are they serious?! I don't even think (even after the $30) they could have done anything. I know, it was just a poor customer service rep and they are just following protocol. I even thought of trading my iPad to someone who hadn't updated their iOS. Then I should have seen the old GB (compatible w/ the old iOS 1.x) in the app store.
    My work around:
    - Bought a used 2008 64-bit Mac Pro tower on eBay ($700USD w/ shipping).
    - Installed Mavericks and GB (free)
    - Paid for Logic X ($200)
My 2007 Mac Pro is for sale on eBay! I won't get all of the $ back, but will get some.
Imported my first GB iOS 2.0.1 into Logic X - it wouldn't open! Yet another download was needed for compatibility. So, I just opened the iOS song in GB on the Mac Tower w/ Mavericks. Saved the file in GB then opened it in Logic X. I did download the 1 billion gigs for compatibility for LPX, but have yet to try it. So long as GB does the job, it only takes a few extra secs.
I now have access to LPX Session drummer, which is pretty cool. Sometimes your original beats can work better for the song, but session drummer can help w/ fills, mixing and "real drummer" feel sometimes. Now I combine my ideas w/ theirs. One can even take the orig iPad created drum track and use it as a loop along w/ Session Drummer (which can be a bit more of a live drummer feel).
I too write on the iPad when on the road then dump to the Mac Pro Tower when I get home. I had tried a MIDI device to dump the data from the iPad to the Mac. Didn't work. Spent hours researching which software to use for MIDI. Time is $ so I shelled out the dough. They got me! Sort of I didn't buy a new Mac. I'm selling a whole bunch of old studio gear, that I don't use anyway, to make up the difference in cost.
Thanks for your input. This is my 2 cents. I could write a book about this experience!

  • M-Audio Fast Track USB interface not compatible with Logic Pro X and Yosemite

    Hello All!
I've been trying to simply record some guitar and vocal tracks onto the latest version of Logic Pro X. It worked before I downloaded the update of Yosemite, however now, I can't find a solution to my problem. I've tried everything! Installed new drivers onto the M-Audio and even tried to search for a later update of Yosemite. I have read a few things online about how Yosemite doesn't accept 3rd party drivers. So any USB plugged in to the macbook/mac that isn't mac based it doesn't accept.
Please can someone help me solve his issue!
    Thankyou!
    Felix

I know many, many of us who are running things just fine.
I have to be really honest with you Ben and say... Where are you getting that idea from because it simply isn't so.....
I have a quite large client list of Logic users from all over the world... and of those that have attempted to use Logic Pro X and Yosemite together... over 80% have had to revert back to a previous configuration because of performance and/or stability related issues...
I personally, have on test here at the studios...  7 different Macs  ranging from 2010 Mac Mini i7 Servers to 2011 32GB 3.4Ghz iMacs.. to a maxed out 2013 i7 MBP to a top of the line 2014 Mac Pro and all have demonstrated issues regarding performance and stability with LPX and 10.10.x using a variety of different Audio/Midi interfaces, all of which have supposedly 10.10 compatible drivers... and all of which have no such issues running LPX under Mavericks...
Just a quick scan across the various forums.. indicates that very few people are successfully running LPX under Yosemite without performance problems.... so that's why I am asking where you are seeing 'many many people" because I am just not seeing that myself...
    Cheers..

  • Mbox 2 with Logic pro x?

    Hi!
I currently have an Mbox 2 which i've used with Pro tools 7.1LE, but i cant use pro tools anymore since avid doesnt make updates to support Yosemite. So my question is, can i use my Mbox 2 as an interface for logic pro x? Or is it required to have another interface? And if i can use the Mbox, do i need to get any converters for it to work?

That is an ancient version of Pro Tools.  Current versions run just fine in Yosemite.   Mbox 2 has issues with Yosemite, and Avid won't be updating or testing it out with 10.10, either.  But here is a thread with a workaround.

  • Using MBOX 2 with Logic Pro 8.

I have downloaded the core audio files, and I am stuck. I'm not really sure how to open it up in Logic, and control it. If anyone can give some advice, or post a tutorial that would be great. Also, the MBOX2 seems to only power on every other time I plug it in. Its very inconsistent to power up. Any explanations on that? Thanks for all the help.

When I switched from PC/Pro Tools LE to iMac/Logic, I tried to work with my MBox2 but gave up. It's just not well suited for working with Logic. I bought the Duet for $500 and it works great and sounds much better than the MBox2. Better pres and converters. I'll upgrade to an Ensemble soon, but for $500, if all you need is two channels, the Duet is a great way to go. Also, latency is much better with Duet than with MBox, at least in my experience. I keep my buffer at 256 and can barely discern latency at all while getting all the plug-in power I need. If I need to truly knock out latency, I can still go down one or two more buffer sizes.

  • I have this issue, it tells me "the format of this file is not compatible with logic pro x, please load first into logic pro x version 7.2 or earlier to convert

I have this issue, nobody knows why  this happen, please help, I was working for 2 days in that file

...and were there no backups made by Logic automatically?
Assuming the project isn't so badly damaged that this won't work...
Make a new project and save it as say, Temp project...
In Finder... Right/Control click on the original project itself and choose Show Package Contents... from the popup menu
Now navigate to the Alternatives folder and look inside any of the folders in there such as 00... for a Project Backups folder and inside that you should find the backups Logic makes automatically...
You will then need to copy the two files inside that backup folder over the same two files in the Autosave folder of the Temp project you created..... overwriting anything already there..
You may also need to copy over the Resources folder from the original project to the Temp project overwriting the original too.
Now open the Temp project in Logic and see if it works...
Failing all this.. then I hope you have learned the lesson we all learn at some point.. and that is to always make backups via one means or another... because its only a mater of time when and not if.. you will run into these kinds of issues..
    Cheers..

  • Is the Alesis MultiMix FW16 compatible with Logic Pro 7???????

I'm looking for a new interface. I was looking at either a MOTU 828 MkII, (but I need more mic pre's for recording drums on individual tracks), or maybe an Alesis MultiMix FW16. I would also like to be able to insert Compression to the mix prior to the A/D conversion. I guess I could run XLR to 1/4" to the Motu would although I don't know if that would work. I just need help, PLEASE!!

yea should be it uses core audio.

If your info is correct you need to first buy Snow Leopard from the Apple on-line store ($20) install and update to 10.6.8 and then buy Lion from the App Store for $20.

  • Is New Mac Pro Compatible with Logic X

Im interested in getting the new mac pro. Is this compatible with Logic X plugins does anyone have it yet working with Logic pro. I have a Mac Pro 3.33ghz 6 core. Is this 10 times better or just a little. I already have good SSD drive so loading and streaming samples is lightning fast.
    thanks

hi i have another question i don't know if anyone knows. in Logic X when I pen the mixing board the scrolling lags for a second and stutters lags for a couple of movements then it scrolls back and forth normally. but when I shrink the arrange window with the mixer to a smaller size it gets faster as I shrink the screen.
I have a HP 30" monitor hooked up by dual DVI cable. 60hz refresh rate. A GTX-680 2g Video Card.
My friedn has a imac 27" i7. I have a mac pro 3.33ghz 6 core. His mixing board does not lag. also copiny plugins is slow on mine. his did not lag.
is this because my monitor is older and using dvi insted of hdmi or thinderbolt?

  • Using Platinum Voicemaster Pro Vocal Channel Strip with Logic Pro & MBox 3

    Hiya,
I was wondering if you can help me please.
I have a small little home studio that I am currently building (just to record vocals mainly to instrumentals as I am singer/songwriter).
I am currently using Logic Pro 9 and MBOX Mini 3 as my midi interface but my producer who is based overseas told me to get a preamp. Many musicians have suggested I purchase Platinum Voicemaster Pro Vocal Channel Strip. CAN ANY CONFIRM WHETHER THIS WILL WORK WITH LOGIC PRO 9 AND GIVE ANY ADVICE AS TO HOW IS THE BEST WAY TO USE IT WITH LOGIC PRO 9 AND MY MBOX MINI 3?
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP.

Thank you both for your input. I am back on the case again, this time with a fully functioning FCB1010. Right ou of the box the pedal does successfully send volume and pan with expression pedal a and b respectively.
What I would next like to accomplish is to have exp. ped. b now control a plug-in parameter instead, the pedal range on the fuzz-wah plug-in of Logic Pro 7 for expample.
When I use Automation Quick Access to edit the assignment of ped. b as Bryan suggested, Logic appears to be receiving the info from ped. b and creating the new assignment (as indicated in the Controller Assignments window), and yet the actual functionality doesn't change, that is, ped. b continues to control pan.
    Any suggestions?
    Best regards, Dan

Logic Pro 10 requires OSX 10.8.4, which is not officially supported on your Mac Pro (must be Early 2008).
There are, however, unofficial workarounds to install 10.8 on those older models that you can search for on Google.
