What is mean by IS - Mill Product? what is purpose of IS-Mill in SAP plz give me sutiable example releated to this
IS-Mill? What is need for this customizing suppose i am not customizing then what happen?

Hi,
SAP R/3 is the central enterprise version. It is not specifically designed for any inducstry sectors and it can cater many of the industry types.
Is is developed for specific industries an for SMB's (small and medium business). It will have components specifically for the industry.
The SAP Mill Products component adds sector-specific functionality to an ERP system to satisfy the complex requirements of mill industries (e.g. metal, wood, paper, textiles, construction materials, and cable sectors).
These industry segments differ from others primarily in that the materials used have a large number of characteristics and variants. The materials in the segments listed above are also predominantly area-based (e.g. paper, textiles, plastic film) or length-based (e.g. cables, piping). Account must be taken of these material characteristics throughout the entire supply chain.
To cater for the particularities of these industry segments, SAP Mill Products features processes and functions that cover the entire supply-chain cycle from product design and configuration, through planning, order processing, capacity planning and production, to final delivery. Additional functions are available in costing and inventory management. SAP Mill Products are also integrated into Quality Management, Financial Accounting, and Controlling.

What are the solutions offered to handle length based or mill products?

We are on 11.5.10. Current version treats beams as each, we have 30 feet beams, 20 feet beams etc.
We do not want to set-up different items for each length of beam.
We need ability to tell we have 10 pieces of 26 feet beams in inventory.
Currently we can only tell we have 260 feet of beams.
Current solution treats it discretley. We need ability to sell length based items, receive length based items, do inventory management based on length based items.
a) What are the solutions offered by Oracle in latest releases for Length based products or for Mill products.
b) If there are any solutions offered by Oracle to handle length based or mill products, can these be back ported to Oracle 11.5.10?

At the time of entering orders, item inquiry, receiving, inventory transfers etc...You can enter the lot attributes during receiving because you create a new lot number.
On Item onhand inquiry, you can enter lot context and lot attributes to limit your search to specific lots.
You may have to write personalizations on other screens.

Thanks for your reply.
as i checked in IDES , facility to activate the addtional packages are there.
with transaction SFW5, i can select the required package and activate it.
but during this process system is giving some warning,

Read the note on installing/activating the industry solution before beginning activation*
so i want to know what will happen if i click I agree for this warning message.
just by following this process its possible to activate the required bussiness function...?

Dear experts,
I need to understand the multiple item header concept in Mill products.
Could you please share some documents if anyone has implemented.
Is this functionallity available in standard ECC or it is a seperate licenced version.
If it is available could you please guide me with the necessary configuaration required.
I need this process for metal sheet cutting process. Where multiple semifinished parys are recievedin single order.

the multi item order concept is the technical foundation for various solutions in the context of mill products, like the trim order created through the trim optimization interface in APO, or the combined order in in IS-MP or similar industry specific special cases.
What would you need to know specifically and for what kind of process?
There are already a number of use cases realized and available in standard SAP ERP with the IS-MP extension.
You may want to take a look at the PP section of the IS-MP help at:

Order combination(mill product) to be used in normal production environment

Can you please tell me whether we use can use order combination fuction from Mill products in normal manufacturing environment. if so can any one tell me what are the seeting we have to do. When i am trying to do it is giving me a error on the controlling side. Any help will be much appreciated.

If you are talking about capacity calculation while creating/releasing the production order, then that can be stopped through Config settings for the checking control (OPJK). In this tick the "No Avail check" under Capacity availability section for 1 and 2 business function.
Try this and revert back.

In DIMP (SAP R/3 - Mill Product system), You must have activated the function in Customizing of Sales and Distribution at Basic Functions --> Availability Check and Transfer of Requirements --> Availability Check
Once it is doen in CFM1 transaction
In the Material Independent Objects Area of CFM1 select the ATP Customizing.
It is one time activity.
Once it is selected using Core Interface functionality ATP Customization will get transfer to SCM 5.0.
We are assuming here that basic required setting of the Core Interface has been done in R/3 as well as in SCM 5.0.

Previously, I had installed on this server includes ECC 6.0, NetWeaver 7.0, IDES-CWM....etc. All of them is OK when start scripts ./sapinst
But when i install IDES MP 2009 in this server and i have a problem below :

Great fun and productivity tool

I don't know why Best Buy does not sell the Matrox DualHead2Go or the TripleHead2Go. IF they did they would sell many more monitors. All they would have to do is set up a few extra monitors connected to the equipment and run a few games to show multiple monitor displays of the use of the products and they would HOOK folks on them. The TripleHead2Go and DualHead2Go are used like crazy at the goverment offices I visit all the times. They increase productivity and make using multiple monitors easy without the use of docking stations or multiple video cards for desktops. Connecting multiple monitors to a single video output is much easier.
NOPE, don't work for the company just think the product is cool and wish I could get one through BB when needed.
