Is mime encoded mail broken on the iPad?

I guess the subject says it all...
One of the mail lists I read sends out a mime encoded digest of the
daily messages.
My Mac and Linux boxen can read the rascal ok but the iPad
shows a list of attachments than the iPad cannot read or load.
I have goodreader installed but I cannot get it to talk to my exchange
account.
If I forward the mail to my gmail account the attachments are just
html files with no 'payload'.
So...what is the word on mime encoded mail on the iPad?

You probably know as much as anyone at this point. I suggest you report all the details of your experience to Apple so they can take any action required:

I did just that...

  • Itunes could not sync mail accounts to the ipad beacuse the mail accounts are in use by the ipad

hi all  just syncing pc and ipad after 7.0.3 upgrade and get the message that itunes could not sync mail accounts to the ipad because mail accounts are in us eby the ipad.  i know i have seen several older threads on this,. but now cant find them.  any ideas how to get over this problem message?  many thanks

When my icloud account is attached to my device I go to mail, contacts, calendars, and there is absolutely no way to remove my mail account. When I deleted my icloud account it suddenly gave me a way to delete and readd my mail account, and synching became feasible again. Synching wasn't possible for me, when I had an icloud account. I suppose the icloud idea still isn't feasible, at least Ican't figure out how to use it.

  • How do I stop receiving Mail alerts on the iPad? E.g when browsing Safari a Mail alert box will pop up when I receive a new email. I don't want this alert. Thanks.

How do I stop receiving Mail alerts on the iPad?
e.g. When browsing in Safari I will be interrupted by a 'ping' sound and a Mail alert box every time a new email comes in to my Inbox. This is irritating. How do I stop this? To see if I have new Mail I just prefer to go to Mail and my Inbox at convenient intervals.
    Thank you.

The same way you'd change any notifications: Settings>Notifications>Mail. Change it to "Banner" or "None".

  • Sending mail on both the iPad (1) and iPhone (4) is extremely slow.

Why does it take so long to send a simple e-mail message (with no attachments) using either the iPad or iPhone?  I have had this problem on both devices.  I don't experience the problem using my MacBook Pro on the same WiFi connection.  The problem is the same on different WiFi networks and also on the 3G wireless network.  Sometimes it can take up to 15 minutes for the message to be sent, and in the meantime, I can send several messages from my laptop.  I'm using an iPad1and iPhone4, both using version 5.0.1.  This problem has existed since I bought them, before updating the software, so I don't think it's a software issue.

I can't explain what your problem is but I don't have any slowdown in sending email on my iPad.
What are you using to send the email? The Mail App? Safari?
Have you checked your email account settings?

  • HT1430 I have an iPad and iPhone. I have had both devices set on the same Outgoing Mail Servers but the iPad has stopped sending emails. I have tried everything without success. The iPhone is still working properly.

I have an iPad and iPhone. Both devices have been set with the same outgoing mail server. All of a  sudden the ipad stopped sending emails but the iPhone still sends emails. I have tried everything but the iPad will not send.

    Try this out:
You delete your Mailaccount on your iPad and then add the same new...
At the most times it helps...

  • Can you mail groups from the iPad mail program?

OK I am going out of my mind trying to send an email using one of my contact groups. I have a group with about 100 emails in it that I send email to once or twice a week and I can't seem to find a way to select the group and send the email. I know it is probley me, I must be trying to hard or over thinking it. Cause this is a basic feature of any email program since 1990. So I am sure I am just missing it.

There is an app called Mail2Group. This works fine if you compose your email however you can't use it to forward an email that you want to resend. They say that it should work both ways once Apple makes some kind of fix. I'm not sure it's Apple responsibility.
Group mailing is important for iPad's further success. It will allow people who aren't computer literate to send group emails, such as the elderly who never had or wanted a computer but want to communicate their groups of common interest e.g. tennis or stitching etc.

  • I cannot read S/MIME encrypted Mails on iPhone and iPad

I have a Certificate for my email address by Comodo. It is installed in Thunderbird on PC and iPhone and iPad with iOS 7.1.2.
Thunderbird on PC behaves like expected, i can send and read encrypted emails.
On iPad and iPhone i cannot read encrypted emails.
I imported my S/MIME Certificate via email attachment (p.12-File) and activated it in the mail section for my account. I also enabled signature and encryption function.
    1. When i receive an email that is signed but not encrypted, the certificate of the sender is trusted & installed.
    2. When i receive an email that is encrypted, the same sender is now shown in red color. I cannot read the email, because my profile allegedly does not contain my identitiy.
    3. When i try to reply to the signed but not encrypted email (1.) then the message i send is signed but not encrypted, even though the address is shown in blue with a lock (which text info: encryption is possible).
    4. When I send an encrypted email to my own account via ipad or iphone, i can read it on both ipad and iphone. This makes me think that the iOS Mail App uses S/MIME encryption a little bit different then Thunderbird.
All of this does not fit together. It think I correctly installed my certificate but there are problems in the Mail Program on iOS.

Solved: the problem was that the emails were encrypted with an old public key.

  • I can't set up a rocketmail (yahoo) e mail account on the ipad mini. Works fine with the iPhone 4s

I have reset passwords. The e mail address is correct, the server details match that on the iPhone. I have even created an iCloud e mail address. All with no success. I would appreciate. Simple how to resolve the issue. Thank you.

I had exactly the same problem when I was trying to set up the Rocketmail account as an 'other' account. When I changed to setting it up as a 'yahoo' account it now works. Hope it works for you too.

  • I am looking for an email app for the iPad other than Mail?

Two business people are sharing an iPad and we want to be able to both use email on the same iPad, but if we set up our Mail accounts on the iPad as I understand it, Mail may merge our contact lists.  (Our email accounts are hosted by our domain registrars using each our respective domain names.)

Are you sure that the "On My Mac" folders weren't empty? If all your mail accounts are IMAP, they may have been.

  • Using the ipad with ios7, cannot open mail links

I cannot open mail links on the ipad using ios7.  Anyone else having this problem?

I can confirm that I'm having the same issue on my verizon iphone 4 on ios 7. If I click a link in an e-mail sent to me through the IOS mail app, safari often does not open. I've noticed that some pages will open. For example. A friend sent me a link to a story on imore.com. The link to the story would not open in safari. Dead. However, a separate link in the e-mail to the main site, imore.com DID open in safari when I tapped on it. I've had this issues with links not working for the last 2-3 weeks, and for whatever reason a reboot of the phone (hold down on/off and home, wait for logo, release buttons) has temporarily fixed the issue.

  • Why must I force quit (double press home and slide off) Mail on both my iPad and iPhone in order to have Mail access on my iMac on the same wifi network. Fetch is set to manual and my ISP is Charter.

Why must I force quit (double press home and slide off) Mail on both my iPad and iPhone in order to have Mail access on my iMac on the same wifi network. Fetch is set to manual and my ISP is Charter.

I don't know about the "3" but it's a POP account. I've always suspected that Charter isn't letting go using their mobile apps for iOS. Puzzling that it doesn't block the other way. That is if Mail is open on the iMac it doesn't block access to Mail on either the iPad or iPhone. I'm guessing it's their mobile apps that are the problem but they won't admit it to me.

  • HT4484 My e-mail address changed. Now I can't access my Apple store account to change it there...it still wants my old address.  How do I access my account to change the address there for the iPad?

When trying to access the Apple store for an App purchase, the Apple store keeps offering me my old e-mail address and no longer recognizes my password...because the e-mail address has changed.  How do I change the e-mail address on the iPad for the Apple store?

  • How do I set up mailbox folders within the IPad mail system (similar to the mailbox folders that I have in Microsoft Outlook)

In Microsofr Outlook, my email is sorted into folders; how do I set up similar folders in tha mail application of my IPad??

You can't do it at the moment in the Mail app itself. If you email account is an IMAP one then you can create extra folders by logging into your account on a browser and creating them there - they should then appear in the Mail app on the iPad. If it's a POP type email account then unfortunately you're stuck with what you've got.

  • I "reply"ed to an e-mail message. The next time when I chose to write a new message and type the first letter of the person I replied to earlier, that name and e-mail address appears as a choice included in a pop up list of my contacts.

I "reply"ed to an e-mail message. The next time when I chose to write a new message and type the first letter of the person I replied to earlier, that name and e-mail address appears as a choice included in a pop up list of my contacts. The persons name is not in my contacts and I would like to delete it from popping up. Do you know how I can do this?

The Mail app on the iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch does have an option to clear previous recipients. You can learn to live with it.  But if you want to get rid of it, the only way to remove these cached email addresses from the Mail application is restoring the iPhone/iPod Touch as a new phone/iPod.  If you restore from backup, the cache is also restored.
This article shows you the screens you will see during the restore:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

  • How can I make personalized mailboxes like work, personal stuff on the ipad

How can I create a folder or personalized mailbox to the mail feature on the iPad...... I have my email with verizon.....there is nowhere to press a plus sign to create a folder or mailbox for work related emails, personal emails, expense emails or such.....can anyone help me!!!!

You can only create additional mailboxes if your email account is an IMAP account. You tell this by tapping on your account in the mailboxes window -  and in the window that shows your inbox, sent folder, trash folder, etc - there will be an Edit button at the top of that window. If there is no edit button - you do not have an IMAP account and you can't create new mailboxes. If the Edit button is there - tap on it and the tap New Mailbox at the bottom of the window.
