Is Mobile Power Inverter Output  large enough for my iBook?

Hello. I have a 12 in iBook and wonder if it can be powered from a Mobile Inverter with the following specs:
175W Output Power Maximum 150W/1.3A Continuous. Output is 115VAC 60 Hz.
It indicates "Caution-Output non-sinusoidal" which I really dont know what that means as far as running a computer goes.
Thanks for any assistance on this.

If you are considering matching input specifications of the iBook's
power adapter and having the mobile inverter run the computer
via the power adapter, since the iBook AC power adapter can be
run per the written specifications on the unit itself, there should
be no lack of information.
The AC Adapter can run from 100-240v 50-60Hz 85-120VA input
and the output is 24VDC 1.875A (per 45 Watt adapter 12" iBook.)
You could just purchase an appropriate DC-to-DC adapter and
not have the heat generation and power wastage of using an
inverter to convert power to AC and then have to go back to DC.
A company by the name of Lind Electronics has some examples.
You may want to double check your power inverter specs and
compare them to the input requirements for the iBook.
Good luck & happy computing!

  • How can I make a photograph large enough for large format printing?

Is there a way to make an image larger on photoshop or illustrator? I will be printing on a large format latex printer. So the printer itself is excellent but its the image that i am struggling to acquire.
I have basic knowledge of the programmes but if you could explain it to me i could figure it out.....
I am aware of rasterize and vectors, but please  could you explain how they work, and if that is my solution.
I want to keep the original photograph as realistic as possible (would prefer not to have it traced on illustrator) and from research it says simply increasing the image size amount of pixels on photoshop does not help...perhaps it does, if you know please help!
This will be a print for an interior wall of an exhibition trailer, and we want to cover all the walls. Plus in future we will be printing for vehicle wraps so I need this knowledge! Help me

Let e try to explain briefly...
"Is there a way to make an image larger on photoshop or illustrator? I will be printing on a large format latex printer. So the printer itself is excellent but its the image that i am struggling to acquire.
    - The actual resolution necessary to print grand format depends on the printer.  Most of the large-to-grand format inkjets print at 600dpi.  Photoshop is the better application for sizig images, while Illustrator is the better application for sizing graphics ( ie., logos ) and type.  Use Illustrator to layout both the images and the graphics.  You typically would send the print vendor an appropriate PDF file ( that can be scaled ).

    - You most certainly can use photographs in large format.  The problem is you will have to setup the file scaled down.  In some cases, the output will have to be assembled in sections.  Let's take a section of 10 feet high x 36 feet long.  You'd setup your Illustrator file 2.5 feet high x 9 feet long ( 25% ) or 30 inch x 108 inch to be enlarged at the printer 400%.  Each time you enlarge an image 2x you cut its resolution in half.  So, an image starting at 300ppi will end up at 75ppi.  So, your image file would need to be 300ppi at 25%. 75ppi sounds low, right?  In actuality, it is enough to print grand format and the image appears smooth. Now the question becomes, how do I get an image large enough in Photoshop?  Remember, you'll need a 30" x 108" image plus bleed at 300ppi ( Placed in Illustrator at 100% ).  There are applications like Genuine Fractals or Image Doctor's "Blowup" which will enlarge an image file without degradation.  I use Genuine Fractals and the results are phenominal.

    - It'll become easier as you do more of this type of work.  The amount you end up scaling is up to you.  There are limitations as to how big a document can be in Illustrator.  I like 25% because it is similar to working on a print ad that is high resolution.  Another thing to remember is set your raster effects to High in Illustrator.  They will be retained in the PDF which will be enlarged 400% and the ending raster effects will be 75ppi just like the image.  Also, feel free to contact the print vendor and ask them questions.  You could send them what I've written here and see if they agree.  Let me know if you have any further questions.

  • Looking for belt holster large enough for iPhone4 with bumper/skin

The few belt holsters I've seen for the iPhone 4 are for a "naked" phone.
I want to protect my investment, so I bought a 2 piece silicone case from ifrogz. But the case makes the phone too large for any of the holsters specifically made for iPhone 4. (And Belkin apprently stopped making the slim-line holster I've been using since the original 2G iPhone!)
Has anyone found a reasonable vertical holster (NO Magnets clasps please!) that is large enough to fit the iPhone 4 with a plastic case over it?
    Thanks in advance.

I have this one. It works well (if you're willing to give up your bumper.

  • Is a 16gb ipad large enough for general use

I am buying the new ipad and wondering if there is a substantial advantage to the 32gb over the 16gb

I would actually buy as much storage space as you can afford. I started with 16gb and ended up with 64gb. While I'm not presently using it all. It is nice to know it's there and I don't have to worry about deleting things to make space. Keep in mind video and magazines take a great deal of space so if you plan on downloading and storing movies or magazines, I have Vanity Fair, that gobbles up storage. If you have a large music library on iTunes, it is nice to have it resident on the device as you may want to access it when you don't have wifi or cellular connection rendering the cloud inaccessible. The same is true with photos and depending on the size of the photos themselves and how many you have, they can add up. Apps, books and documents don't really take that much space.
I have found that this has worked well for me and I've used about half my storage on the pad. My iPhone is 32gb and I store much less on it, no movies or magazines and that works fine.
    Hope this helps!

  • How do you know if an image is large enough for print?

    Hi,
    Hope you are doing well.
I am designing a flyer that will be printed. I would like to use the attached photo of a mug in it, but have a question.
I know I can convert it from RGB/72 DPI to 300 DPI/CMYK in Photoshop, but is that wise? It's okay if the image gets smaller BTW.
    Thanks very much!

  • Error message: the image is not large enough for the operation

    Hello,
I am doing some image processing using NI-IMAQ. I got this error message everytime I run my program. A dialoge box would pop up to show this error and i can choose to stop or continue the program. if i choose continue, my program works fine. it only happens when the program just starts to run. I am making a program to see the differece when i use 'imaq subtract' from 'absolute difference'. so i have two input images. i connect both of the two images to the two imaq functions i am trying to compare. at first, i was only using one of the two functions. everything is fine. but i want to see the difference of the two functions, so I put them together at the same time instead of watching the difference individually. so I put a second function in. no matter which of the two is the second i put in, the error message shows up.
I tried to copy the images to avoid the double use of the original images. but got the same error. anyone has ever met this problem too? or have any advice to solve the problem? I appreciate any suggestions from you. thank you very much.
    gigiyi

thanks for your answer. I didn't quite understand the link you gave me. but i have solved my problem. I just connected the error cable through each vi. I guess the by doing so the program knows the sequence to run the vis. the messages you forwarded to me do help me to think. however, i am still not sure about the reason. any further explainations would be appreciated.

  • Is my power supply enough for an athlon xp 2000+?

Hi, I have a TurboLink 350W powersupply, it came with my case, AND I'D LIKE TO KEEP IT
I have a Athlon 1.1ghz rite now, and i want to upgrade to an Athlon XP 2000+, and i was wondering, my power supply should be enough for that, right??
    +3.3/24A
    +5/35A
    +12/12A
im not sure about the +12, but look at Dell.  My dad has a 4600 w/P4 2.4 + Sapphire Radeon 9800 PRO, and dell only ships with 250W power supplies!! and P4's use more power than Athlon Xp's, and i dont have a radeon...i have a FX5200.  My dad even has SATA, so....i think my 350 is fine, but i dont want to pull my hair out [STRIKEOUT]if[/STRIKEOUT] my athlon doesnt work and i think its the motherboard or something, when its the P.S...., so.

I'll tell you how that is powered with that crappy PSU.
    1. Dell sells computers.
    2. They have an average 1 year warrentty.
    3. When they quit, see No. 1
A few years back, my mother bought an E-Machine (AKA: the green E of death) that came with a 185W PSU. The PSU has already gone out once, and due to the way it mounts, there was nothing more powerful that would fit in that case, so I replaced the crappy PSU with another crappy ($20) 185W PSU. Next time the PSU fails, I'll pull the drives, and toss the case/mobo, and start over.
As for Antec PSU's, well, look at my sig, you will notice I have a 300W Antec. While it is rather weak, the KT266A/KM266 chipset boards and eariler, generally do not power everything except memory from the 12V rail.
While other manufacturers still use the 3.3V and 5V rail to power most of the board, the 12V rail will soon be the most used rail on almost all motherboards.

So why should I believe you (no disrespect intended)? What is the specific grounding issue with the Cooler Master? Can you give me a URL to the issue at their support site?

Wow are you serious..? Man that sucks...I hope I can get a return on it, damn.
EDIT: I spoke with there customer support line, they said they could RMA the power supply with a new revision that works with the board, I don't know what I'm going to do though.
Regardless if you get an updated model which has addressed the compatibility issue, you are better off with a single +12V rail PSU like the ones I suggested.

I have just installed Photoshop Elements for a MAC. MY photos were in iPhoto, I have 47,000 pictures and my drive on my Mac laptop is not large enough. I store my photos in iPhoto on an external drive. Can I store all my photos on an external drive when using Photoshop Elements? If so, in what format should they be stored in? I do I move them from iPhoto to the new storage location? How do I call them up in organizer? And how do I call them up to Edit? I do not want to store any pictures on my Apple Mac laptop. I want to store pictures on several external devices.

Yes you can store images on an external hard dive and have them referenced in Organizer. It’s best to export copies to separate folders/subfolders and that will ensure iPhoto does not get corrupted.
Alternatively you could continue to use iPhoto with the Elements Editor set up in the iPhoto prefs as your external editing app. Then there is no need to use Organizer and no need to duplicate your images.
You can then call up photos directly from iPhoto as normal with the additional option e.g.
Double-click on a thumbnail to edit in iPhoto editor.
Control (right) - click on a thumbnail to edit in the elements app.

    PSU XFX Core Edition PRO550W

yes its fine but very close to its limits wattage wise but for amps your all good! so that card will work fine but do not get a x70gtx or higher as then you will be in trouble if you do so as they need more wattage to be stable!

    over volt. protection15-16.5V DC
    overload Protection >240W
I have the newest macbook pro 15" 2.2 ghz qua core i7
will this work fine with my mac? or is eit too much power or too little idk haha please help a fellow mac user.

I use inverters extensively and have found that getting a good inverter is not that easy; here are some issues to think about:
    1. you need to have an inverter that supplies enough continuous power (not just peaking power) to your device.  So if you have a 17" MacBook Pro, like I have, you need an inverter that continuously supplies at least 85 watts of power.  One that only supplies more than 85 watts peak power is not good enough.
    2. you need to have an inverter that is large enough in size to dissipate energy efficiently.  Some inverters that theoretically supply enough continuous power still heat up, and then go into an off/on cycle to keep the temperature down.  Trouble is, every time the inverter cycles off, the computer screen dims; which is really annoying.
    3. many of the smaller inverters use a fan to keep them cool.  Trouble is, most of the fans are noisy- which is also annoying.  Also, when the fan turns on, they draw more current, which causes the power to vary, which may affect your screen brightness.
    4. inverters should have a cord- otherwise, they are sometimes difficult to stick into a cigarette lighter plug.
I have not found a really good inverter yet- if someone does, please let me know.  A good inverter would have the following characteristics:
    1. provides enough continuous power to keep the computer charged and running.
    2. dissipates energy efficiently with metal fins so that it doesn't need to go into an on/off cycle to keep the temperature low enough.  If the inverter must go into an on/off cycle, your computer screen will dim every time the inverter is off- which is distracting.
    3. doesn't have a noisy fan that also draws power and cycles on/off, and therefore is also distracting.
    4. has a high efficiency (you should buy one with at least 85% efficiency; most of them do).
    5. has a cord, as opposed to a rigid plug that is pushed into your cigarette lighter.
    6. is as small in size as possible, and as inexpensive as possible- but without compromising the basic need to supply continuous, steady power without having the screen dim or building up too much heat.
There are two basic types of inverters: ones that supply pure sine wave power, and ones that supply modified sine wave power.  The pure sine wave inverters supply "smoother" power (more steady voltage)- but are much more expensive, and, I understand, not needed for powering computers.

  • Using the Kensington Power Inverter w/ iBook G4

I'm going to be going on a trip soon and I was hoping to use the Kensington Power Inverter for use with cars. I'm worried, however, that the inverter will not be able to provide enough power.
When I purchased my iBook, it originally came with a 60W power adapter. A dog kind of ruined that one, and since then I've had to replaced it with a 65W adapter. I'm a little confused as too whether this is 60/65W input out output.
My worry is spurred on by the fact that the Power Inverter can provide 60W continuously, but 75W for only five minutes. I'm wondering if my laptop can be charged or run continuously off of this inverter or not.
P.S. This is the same Kensington Power Inverter that can be found at the Apple Store here. The review apparently hints that it should work, but I'm just a little paranoid, so humor me.

The question should be what is the recommended for minimum free hard drive space.
