Is motion compatible with i movie

is motion compatible with i movie?

You will have to export out the movie to Apple Intermediate Codec formatted .mov file. iMovie will not work with the Motion files directly the way the do in Final Cut Pro.

  • Macbook Pro 15" i7 sudden motion sound with no movement of laptop.

    Hey,
Has anyone else experienced the sudden motion parking sound when your laptop is just sitting still with no movement? For some reason, I'll hear the sound. It happens sometimes after rebooting and only once. Then I'll hear it again a couple days later.. and again once. And every time, I'm not moving the laptop... sometimes I'm not even touching it. Do you think I just have an OVER sensitive sensor?
I've taken it into the store and the tech guys hook it up and run their tests and say that the hard drive checks out fine.
It's weird.. I'd feel better knowing that other people have this same problem. Most of the posts here talk about that sound when moving their laptop.

The solution is extremely simple, return it for another. If you bought it from an Apple Store it should be no problem. If you bought it from an Apple Reseller you need to deal with them directly.
    Don't wait, do it today.

  • How do I make itunes purchased music compatible with Windows Movie Maker?

Windows Movie Maker will not accept the itunes format and I cannot find a way to convert the files. I need to convert the format to any of the following accepted formats: .aif, .aifc, .aiff .asf, .au, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .snd, .wav, and .wma
    Please Help!

If your iTunes Music Store purchases are 128kpbs protected (with digital rights management) AAC files, they cannot be directly converted to other formats. If the files are 256kbps unprotected iTunes Plus AAC files, you can convert them as desired for your personal use.

  • Is iDVD compatible with quicktime movies from Final Cut Express 4?

I am trying to find out if iDBD can be used with Final Cut Express 4 output or is it just for imovie?  If it can be used with FCE4 what is the extension.  Thank you.

    Hi
Yes - IF YOU DO IT RIGHT.
    FCE/P to iDVD
    Several things
    • How to go from FCE/P to iDVD
    • Free space on Start-up hard disk
    • Encoding
    • Brand and type of DVDs used
    • Burn speed set
    • iDVD BUG
    • Chapters
How to go from FCE/P to iDVD I do
    • Disable Screen and Energy saver
    • IMPORTANT --> FIRST in FinalCut - Mix Down Audio under Sequence Menu / Render Only / Mix-down
    • Export out as a QuickTime .mov file
    • Select with Mark - Chapter Mark
    • Not as Self-Contained (not important but saves time and space)
    • NO QUICKTIME CONVERSION (IMPORTANT)
This QT.mov file I import into iDVD from within iDVD.
Free space on Start-up hard disk
I set a minimum of 25GB (for Mac OS and iDVDs temp files)
    Encoding
    • I use Pro Quality encoding
Brand and type of DVDs used
    • I use Verbatim
    • I use DVD-R
    Burn speed set
    • I set down this to x4 (or x1)
    iDVD BUG
    • One can not go back to movie-project for any alterations and then go back to
the iDVD project. It will notice and ask You to either Up-date or Cancel. Neither
    of them will work.
Medicine - Start a brand new iDVD project.
    Use of Chapters
    • I only use a to z and 0 to 9 in naming them. NO other symbol/letter !
    • NO Chapter-mark at very beginning - iDVD NEEDS TO set this by it self
    • No Chapter marks in or within two seconds from a transition
(Way around this last one - Export movie as QT full quality and NO Chapter marks
Import this into a new Movie-project and now You are free to set C-Ms where You want
them except at very beginning - still)
    Material used to build movie
    • video - I use streamingDV (or convert all other to this eg .mp4, .avi, .wmv etc)
    • audio - I use .aiff 16-bit 48kHz or from Audio-CD (44.1kHz) - no .mp3 or direct from iTunes
    • photos - I use .jpg - no .bmp etc
Trash iDVD pref. file and run Repair Permissions - and have a re-try.
    from post ??
May not be relevant, but I had the same problem with iDVD, where burned DVDs showed a green screen. It was cured by quitting Quicksilver and Quickeys as well as disabling sleep and screen-saving

  • Is Motion compatible with Mac mini?

    Hello,
We have Motion 3, and the management is considering to buy a new Mac mini.
Here are some specs for the new Mac mini they are considering -
    2.4GHz Intel Intel Core 2 Duo / 4GB DDR3 SDRAM / 320GB hard drive / SuperDrive
NVIDIA GeForce 320M / Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.1 EDR, IEEE 802.11n (draft)
Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard
With our current setup (see info below) I can't use the Light feature in Motion 3 and was told by Mark Spencer4 that,
"Motion isn't supported on a Mac Mini. In particular, lights won't work."
Will the latest Mac mini support Motion 3? How about Motion 4?
Overall, I'm dissatisfied with the performance of Motion on this Mac mini. It's very slow and I've heard that there are still memory shortages even in the latest Mac mini.
    Any advice or suggestions?
    Thank you
Specs for our current Mac mini -
    Model Name: Mac mini
    Model Identifier: Macmini1,1
    Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
    Processor Speed: 1.66 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 2 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 667 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: MM11.0055.B08
    SMC Version (system): 1.3f4

    From the Motion page:
ATI or NVIDIA graphics processor (*integrated Intel graphics processors not supported*)
    From the Mac Mini specs:
It gives you next-generation NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics — the fastest integrated graphics processor on the market today — and speedy DDR3 memory.
So, it's not using "Integrated Intel graphics processors.
My only question would be Motion needs 128MB of VRAM. Would 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory that the mini has, suffice.
As for the lights, I would think since the 320M uses OpenGL 3.2 that Lighting would not be a problem.
Just the memory issue would slow it down.

  • Looking for a GREAT mini DVD Camcorder that is compatible with my MAC! :-)

Ok. Here it is: I have a Sony DCR-TRV350 Camcorder, which I LOVE. However, the DVI port on the camera is screwed up. I bought a new DVI firewire, alas, to no avail. I cannot get the information from the camera to my Mac. So, making my fun, goofy movies is being inhibited by a fix, that will cost nearly as much as a new camera. I am looking for a new camera, that takes advantage of the firewire port on the Mac. Any suggestions? I would prefer a Sony. I am looking for advice from someone who knows, better then I, (that should be easy) of a good camcorder (miniDVD?) that works well with a Mac. I just want to have fun, bringing in footage to iMovie HD, editing, and posting them to Metacafe. Any and all input is, of course greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!!
    ~ George

"..I wish Apple would tell me "why" a standard MiniDVD camcorder would not be compatible with I-Movie, because I can not think of a single logical reason.."
iMovie was designed to work with "DV" digital camcorders. These were, and are, camcorders which record video in a particular method onto DV, or miniDV, tape. iMovie wasn't designed to import or edit analogue 8mm or Hi-8 recordings, so it won't. iMovie can't handle an incoming analogue (non-digital) signal. (..But if you put one of those 8mm or Hi-8 analogue tapes in a Digital-8 camcorder such as the Sony DCR-TRV350, mentioned in the very first post, above, you can then import it as a digital signal through the camcorder's FireWire connection..)
Various other digital recording methods came and went, and Apple have supported some, but not others: there was the short-lived Sony "microMV" tape format which Apple didn't support, although you can handle that with MPEG Streamclip. Then there was HDV, which Apple does support ..but they did that by creating an Apple Intermediate Codec, into which the MPEG-2 video format of HDV tape gets converted during import.
Then there were various MPEG-2 DVD video formats, and the various movie formats used by solid-state memory-chip camcorders. Now there's AVCHD format, for memory chips, hard drives and DVDs.
These methods of recording video just keep multiplying - because the camcorder manufacturers want to offer "Look! Ours-does-it-better!" claims. But just because they produce a camcorder which records video, that doesn't mean that Apple (which doesn't make camcorders) has to provide a means to edit all these weird formats which keep springing up. Surely, the camcorder manufacturers should be providing Mac-compatible, or iMovie-compatible, editing methods for their devices, shouldn't they?
As Thomas mentions, there's a list of some compatible camcorders (see above) ..but that's a list of camcorders which are compatible with the latest iMovie '08 (..which can deal with some DVD camcorders, but not those which record DVDs in AVCHD format..) and AVCHD format can be handled only by Intel-based Macs, anyway.
So for an MPEG-2-based mini-DVD camcorder and iMovie HD 6, copy the files into your Mac, and then use MPEG Streamclip to convert them to iMovie HD 6 compatibility.
For iMovie '08, some miniDVD camcorders are compatible (those using MPEG-2 recording). For DVD camcorders using AVCHD recording, you may have to copy the recordings onto your Mac, and then download and use "Voltaic" to convert the recordings into iMovie-editable format.
"..I can not think of a single logical reason.." ..the reason is that manufacturers just want you to buy these cameras. But they don't give a hoot that you can't edit the material they record, and so it's left to Apple, and other software developers, to try to devise some way to "unravel" the compressed recordings for you, and make them editable.

  • Which HD camcorder will be best compatible with macbook pro?

Which HD Camcrder will be best copm with Macbook Pro?

There are scores of them on the market at any given time that will work just fine with the MBP. The list changes every week as models are introduced and discontinued. No one has tried enough of them to have any idea which is "most compatible," and since prices range from under $100 into the thousands and you've told us nothing about how much you hope to spend or what features you want, no one can answer your question.

  • Is my Valet M20 compatible with Windows 8.1 - Need to move it from One Laptop to Another

I currently have my Valet on my old Dell Laptop running Windows 7.  The Dell is ready to crash. I tried to load the Cisco M20 on my laptop running Windows 8 with the Key it seemed fine. I rebooted the laptop now it can't seem to find the software. I guess I have two questions:
    1. Is Valet M20 compatible with Windows 8.1
    if so,
    2. How do I move it from an old laptop to a new one running windows 8.1.
    Thanks!

If you’re referring to the Linksys Connect Software, it’s not compatible yet with Windows 8.1 so you won’t be able to move it. However you can still manage it using the router’s web-based setup page. For detailed instructions, click here.

In what file type and compression format did you download the YouTube content? I.e., to avoid such issues, you would normally download the source files as content that is natively compatible with your target player or convert incompatible file type/compression format combinations to files that are compatible with your targeted media player.

  • Are microsoft movie maker files compatible with final cut pro files?

I would like to know if microsoft movie maker files are compatible with Final Cut Pro?
    Thanks,
    elemir

depends on how you're outputting. .wmv I don't think so.That's pretty much a dead end format.  mp4 might be, but i'm not sure if movie maker outputs them. .avi might be, depends on the codec used.
Avoid .wmv, apple products don't play well with that format (never have) and aim for some other output type. Then on your mac, if you don't already have it, if you don't already have it, get the free converter mpegstreamclip and see if it can convert your movie maker output into something final cut will input. DV files are good, as are .mov files.

  • Converting Movie File Types to be Compatible with iTunes

The videos I'm trying to import are .avi files. I know that iTunes needs .mov or .mp4, so is there any way to convert them to be compatible with iTunes?
    Thanks!

This is how I do it:
Open iMovie and import the .avi file
Go to Share and select iPod
There are probably other ways but this one works just fine for my needs
