Is my camera bad?

I'm wondering if I have a bad camera in my Iphone or if all Iphonne 4S cameras work like mine?
It only takes good pictures outside and in very high-light situations.  If I am inside the pictures are OK at best.
The other thing is, if there is any motion at all the pictures are blurry.  The only time it takes great looking photos is when I'm outside and the subject of the photo is completely still.
Is this how all the cameras on the Iphone 4s work, I did I just get a bad one?
Thanks,
Ehren

  • Camera - bad sound quality - Iphone 4

I've no idea what's wrong with my Iphone 4 (iOS6, no jailbreak etc.) . When I used IOS 4, everything was fine but after update ios 5, and now ios 6....my sound in movies (recorded on iphone) is very weak. I've checked recording using Voice Recorder - microphone in my device is correct - sound is very clear with a high quality so the problem is no with iphone hardware! What should I do to repair that problem in camera mode?! It sounds noisy and blur. Help:/
    [sorry for my english;]

I have the same issue.  The "crackling" gets so bad that I cannot hear anyting else.  This issue comes and goes, if i wait a few minutes usually the crackling will go away.   I don't think its an "area" issue, since it happens all over town.  Could it be an AT@T issue?  They don't know......"we will look into it"
I have restarted my Iphone several times.....thinking about restoring to factory settings and starting over again with upgrades.....

  • Mid 2009 13" MBP iSight camera bad picture quality in photo booth

My daughter's stock mid 2009 13" MBP 2.26 ghz intel core two duo has a problem with the isight camera. The isight camera is built in to the screen. The isight camera works some of the time flawlessly and other times it comes out real grainy and with small colored pixels all over the screen like colored static (about 20% to 30% of the photo booth screen is affected but the rest of the screen outside of the photo booth app is unaffected). She only uses it in photo booth but we've tried the iChat app and the same thing happens there too, once she couldn't get the MBP to connect to the isight camera (it just showed a black photo booth screen), so she closed the lid of her MBP and reopened it and it worked. All of the software and firmware is up to date and we've tried resetting the PRAM and the SMC, it didn't do anything to fix the problem. It seems like there's a wire loose in the computer from the screen to the computer base, only because I can move the screen back and forth and the picture quality changes, the amount of static on the picture will move, go away or get worse. I had the screen changed in early 2010 (January or February) (the MBP was about 5 or 6 months old then) at the apple store under warranty due to dirt under the screen's glass (manufacturing defect). The photo booth picture static problem comes and goes, but here lately it comes more than it goes. The screen in general is in good shape and doesn't have any detectable problems with it, it has a good picture and no dead pixels, the problem seems to be only isolated to the isight camera. Can some one help with this problem? How long of a warranty is given on the warranty repairs (like the screen change they did in early 2010)? If apple does a repair on it and finds a wire that has rubbed the insulation off of it on a hinge causing a short and the isight problem, as a result of a sloppy repair from the first warranty repair, will they cover it under warranty again even if it's been over a year since they changed the screen? Also how honest will apple be if they do find out it is a problem caused from the first screen replacement, will they own up to their mistake? If I don't agree with apple's repair decision, can I get a second opinion from an outside source, third party, and if it's diagnosis different than apple's and can be proven, can I still get apple to do and pay for the repairs and labor if it turns out to be their fault from the first warranty screen replacement?
The reason why I'm asking is, I took my wife's white macbook in about a year ago for the famous cracked top cover replacement (under warranty) and when I got the computer back, the isight camera didn't work, so I gave it back, they took it apart a look at it and said there was nothing wrong with it and gave it back, then the screen wouldn't come on so after 4 hours at the Apple store they decided to send it to Austin, TX. for repairs (I'm in Ft. Worth TX.). Apple in Austin said it needed a new main board. They said the old one had water damage to it. We never had water anywhere near the computer, not even in the same room. It was working fine when we took it in, we took it in just to get the plastic top case, that cracks all of the time, replaced under warranty. And then they wanted us to pay for an $800 main board because some how while they were doing the top cover replacement it got water damaged. I argued with them and they finally gave me a one-time offer of them paying for half of the repair and labor or if I disagreed or left the store I would have to pay the whole amount if I chose to have the repairs done. So I ended up having to pay $467 for a year old macbook main board that was water damaged in their possession during their repairs. I like Apple and their products but I am worried about giving my daughter's MBP over to them for repairs because of this incident, it's an honesty issue with how honest they will be with what they find because they won't give back the old parts for analysis by a third party to verify their diagnosis.
Thanks for any info and advice anyone can give.

    Hi,
As a personal note I find long posts like this hard to read if they are not broken up in to paragraphs.
As I say it is  a personal thing.
I can give you some information about the camera and laptops over the past few years.
Basically in early Laptops of the MacBook Pro and MacBook range the cable did tend to fray at the point where it passed through the hinge.  It did take a well used laptop that had the lid open and closed frequently to cause this.  (your 2009 model might just be in that group - I have no firm dates or models I am afraid)
Later models have this rerouted so that this does not happen.
However the cable has then tended to get pulled from the camera end and become loose.
This On Line Self fix site has pages about some models  (The one I have linked to may not be yours)
I have linked in to later pictures in the sequence but there are navigation points to work back to the start.
Note:- they use pretty specifc specialest tools as well in these pics.
Doing this would certail Void any Warranty you have left.
From Posts mainly in the iChat and the iSight areas I have gathered that it seems common for Apple to replace the Screen as a whole rather than fiddle with getting solely at the camera.
Apple has this article on Trouble Shooting an iSight
Basically it says try several apps then try logging in on another Mac User account to see if it is App based or User based or in fact System wide.
If System wide then resetting the SMC/PMU is the only suggested fix.  (Which I did read you had done)
In addition to that I would add that testing should be done in different lighting conditions.
Lighting in the evening or dark that is good enough to read buy is not always good enough for the camera or is not illuminating the right areas.
Some people have reported that Starting the computer in Safe Mode (then Rebooting afterwards) seems to help.  (it clears out some caches and starts up with reduced extensions)
As to actual Repairs and any Warranty that may still be in place I cannot say.
I can say that when people post about problems with repairs a certain stores someone else will tend to post that their experience was different.
You seem to report two different experiences with the two computers yourself.

  • Best Camera for $1500 or less

What is the best mini-dv 3ccd camera for $1500 or less? I wish I could spend more but that is my limit at this time and I need a camera bad. Any suggestions?

    Hey,
Keep in mind that the XL-1s is somewhat clumsy and awkward to handle. If you are used to ENG style... the Canon has no comfortable way to rest it on your shoulder. If you like to hold it out front, using the top handle, while framing your shot with the flip-out LCD... the XL-1s has no flip out LCD. Just a big eye cup style viewfinder.
The up side is the interchangeable lenses available for the XL-1. But if you are test driving one this weekend, be sure to ask how many lenses that price includes. Also, is there a wide angle adaptor included as well.
For my money... a used Canon GL-1 or a GL-2 if available, (the GL-2 is the newer version, with a better audio section). Being Canon devices, they already have superior optics. Both camcorders feature optical stabilization and [real glass!] 20:1 built-on lenses, and good sized flip-out LCDs. Since 2000, our church has been using 3 GL-1's for recording the services (via long S-Video runs to the switcher) as well as on remotes for the special dramatizations which are shown on the big screens during the actual services. Never a down day. The GL-1 is able to record in 30p as well as 16:9 anamorphic, and download via Firewire into any NLE. I've owned mine since 2000 as well. Never a glitch in the beginning with iMovie, later with FC Express, or now with FCP 5.1.4!
So... get yourself a used GL-1 and one of those Beechtek DXA-2S mic/line adaptors, so you can use pro mics in the field, and for under $1,500 you have a formidable, light-weight shooting rig.

  • ILife 08 Photo Import hangs.

My troubles began several months ago when I upgraded from a Canon Elp 2.0 MP camera to the Canon G7 10 MP. First I noticed that since the G7 now used a 2GB SD card rather than a CF card, I cold not longer use the Firewire card reader that I had enjoyed. No matter, I plugged the G7 directly in the USB 2.0 port and attempted to download about 250 photos. After about 50 photos, the whole process hung and came to an abrupt halt. the 50th photo only imported about halfway down the image and then the whole process hung. The work around was to abandon the import, save the photos that had been imported so far and then continue in batches of 50. Not exactly life threatening, but annoying to say the least.
iLife 08 had been announced so I thought that perhaps it might solved the problem. In the meantime, I purchased a Lexar Media USB 2.0 multi card reader at the suggestion of "Old Toad" on this forum thinking that might solve the issue. I wish I could say that my troubles were over but I can't. When I plugged the SD card into the Multi-reader, the G5 will not even recognize it. Just for fun, I tried plugging in an old CF card and it showed up right away.
To make matters worse still, I received iLife 08 hoping that one or all of these issues might be resolved. No such luck. I downloaded about 42 photos directly from the digital camera (Canon G7) using iLife 08 and the thumbnails all showed up on the screen just as promised. However, my problem started when I hit the Import button. After importing 18 of the photos, the 19th photo only came in halfway and the import process hung after that. I re-tried the procedure repeatedly with no success.
So now I don't quite know what to do or which piece of equipment to throw away. BTW - my Dell laptop seems to be able to read the SD card rather nicely so I'm tempted to use the PowerMac G5 as a door stop at this moment.
This is becoming a very frustrating experience. Between ILife 08, The Lexar Reader and the CF-SD converter, I have about $200 invested and I'm no further ahead. do you think perhaps that the Dane-elec 2 GB SD card just isn't recognizable by the G5? I find this an absurd notion since even my Dell Laptop can see it.
Any thoughts and or suggestions would be most welcome.
    John

    Greetings,
If you open iPhoto without the camera plugged in does it load all your pictures and can you double-click on a few and they show up full size just fine?
If so this may be an issue with the camera / bad data on the camera.
Before we go down that road, so basic fixes:
Ensure all your software is up to date (Apple Menu > Software Update).
Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer and try again:
Home > Library > Caches (I remove the whole folder. It will be re-generated upon restart.)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iPhoto (There may be more than one. Remove them all.)
If the same issue occurs try importing the pictures off the camera using Image Capture found in your Applications folder: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=ImageCapture/6.0/en/5304.html
__Assuming this imports fine and the images are working for you, you probably want to reformat / erase the camera's media card using the reformat or erase option built into the camera.
If the images do not show up fine when double-clicked and iPhoto still has issues when the camera is not plugged in try rebuilding your iPhoto Library following this article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2638. Use the bottom 3 rebuild options.
    Hope that helps.

  • How do I count parts with a fiber optic sensor using the NI-1772 and VBAI 2011?

I'm inspecting parts using the NI-1772.  Just after the camera, bad parts are ejected when they pass by a fiberoptic sensor.  I want to use another sensor after that to verify the number of good parts, so that I can be sure the bad parts have been ejected?
I've tried using the READ/WRITE I/O step to read falling edges in sequence with a calculator step to increment the counts for each inspection iteration.  I get a few counts at start up, and then the counts stop.  It's as if the inspection has looped back to the Acquire Image step before or after the cap is present at the sensor.
Once this is figured out, I want to reset the count when a preset is reached.
    Thanks,
    Rob

    Hi Brad,
It seems that the ISO Input is reading all of the falling and rising edges based on the LED, and that the Read/Write I/O step counts all of the falling edges when in configuration mode.  I believe the signal stays low for about 10ms. (It might be important to clarify that I'm not using the camera trigger input for this.  It is a subsequent sensor downstream of the camera.)  I've attempted to attach a section of my inspection.
    Thanks,
    Rob

  • Imovie crashes/won't import

I had a problem importing video from my sony TRV-250 into imovie 5 back when I first got my iMac. I called APPLE, reset PRAM and thought the issue was fixed because I was able to import. Hadn't tried again until now, and suddenly I find I'm in the same boat. It shows that the camera is connected but won't import, and crashes when I try to control the camera from the iMovie controls. I reset PRAM and that didn't work as it did the last time. I unplugged everything from the firewire ports(camera and ext. hard drive), restarted the computer and tried the bottom port with the top empty and it suddenly DID import, but stopped after 12 seconds and then wouldn't recognize my camera at all. It didn't even show that a device was connected in system profiler. I started over, resetting PRAM and restarting the computer with empty ports, and now it's importing. But it will only work from the top port, not the bottom. Does this make any sense at all? Why do I have to reset PRAM every-time I want to import video from my camera? If anyone has a similar issue or can shed some light on this I would really appreciate it.
    iMac G5 20 rev. B   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

The only thing that makes it work is resetting PRAM everytime. Even then, only 1 of my FW ports will work. The other one always causes iMovie to crash. Unless I have a bad camera, bad RAM, or a bad FW port, it's not anything else on your list because I've checked it. My OS is updated from Thanks for your help. I'm lost.
Also I have updated everything. You mentioned that QT and OS shouldn't be updated. Is this what you meant? If so, do I have to reinstall the OS to go back to the old version? THANKS

  • Photo Downloader freezes randomly during download

    Hi all,
I've used Bridge without trouble since CS5 was first released, but this week, it froze during a routine download of about 30 Gb from my Canon 7D.  [I do lots of time-lapse photography.]  When I retried the operation, it failed again, but at a different file.  I launched Task Manager and noted almost no CPU usage, either from PhotoDownloader or any other programs.  I retried again, downloading just one day at a time.  That worked fine (though not fun selecting the files and prone to human error).  Then, I connected my GoPro Hero 4 - also no history of probems - and after a few files downloaded successfully, it failed too, but this time with an error message about failing to communicate with the device.  And this time, I also noticed that all of my external hard disks spun up just prior to failure.  [This might've happened during the prior failures too but I didn't notice.]  Again, I downloaded in batches, day-by-day, and it worked fine.
As such, it appears that Photo Downloader is freezing or failing randomly - the fewer files I download at once, the less likely I am to have a problem.  I have a hunch that another program might be accessing all of the disks on my system and, consequently, temporarily blocking communications between Photo Downloader and the USB-attached camera, but haven't seen any processes spike in Task Manager.  [It may be a hidden Windows thing.]  I wonder if there's a time-out value in Bridge I can increase?
I'm using Adobe Bridge CS5 (4.0.5.11) on Windows.
    Any ideas?

    Bad idea.
This excerpt is from a long-gone post by author Bruce Fraser:
Bruce Fraser - 4:17pm Jun 14, 04 PST (#5 of 21) Opening files directly from the camera is a bad idea for a variety of reasons*, and it most certainly isn't faster than using a FireWire or USB2 card reader.         •
            • Drains the camera battery
            • Runs the risk of the software you're using to open the images writing to the card and destroying the format
            • Runs a small but significant risk of USB power frying the camera
            • Slowest method known to mankind of getting images off a CF or SD card

  • Breaks during video importing

When I try to import video from my Canon ZR40 over a firewire cable, every minute or few the screen the screen goes blue, it says camera playing for a second, and then it continues importing. When I try to re-import, it does this at different places. I have turned the energy saver to "never" and deselected "start a new clip at each scene break".

    Hi Dana
Hard to figure out the reason for Your problem:
    - drop outs from Your Camera
    - Bad FW-cable
    - Your computer is tied up with other programs like
    FileVault, ScreenSavers, EnergySavers <</div>
    I have turned FileVault OFF
    No ScreenSaver
    No EnergySaver
Next change FW-wire and see if it helps
Next - buy a cleaning tape to Your miniDV Camera and use it as stated.
Still problems then I only knows one way. To make a tape copy via another
miniDV Camera + a new tape (which I would "dummy record with nothing
anything from start to end) and get a 4 - 4 pin FW cable and copy on this
prepared tape. Just to fill the dropouts.
    This can work.
Also You can try to turn-off the import as individual clips - under prefs in
iMovie. Sometimes it helps an esp. when recorded in LP-mode (90 min)
    NOT RECOMMENDED.

  • Apple error?

    Hello, I have a question.
If my Macbook Pro came bad from the factory?
The first day I turned on my Macbook Pro 2012 (not retina), it came with a bad pixel (there was a with little line on myy Mac). The second problem was whrn I made my first update, my screen was gray for 3 minutes after the updaten finished (I turn it off and on and it was gray). Another problem was that when I openned it the first time it had a scratch on the back of the screen. The third problem is that my superdrive sounds with no cd on it, it makes an strange loud sound. The last problem was that during the update I made my fan died and lag started.
Im very delicate with my Mac because I really like them, this is the first time that this happens to a Mac I bought.
    This is a factory problem?
Can they exchange my Mac for another one?

You should take your MacBook Pro to your nearest Apple store for an evaluation.
