Is my car kit box broken?

hi all
i have just tried to re-install my nokia 616 bluetooth kit into my new car, using the proper wireing harness, but it doesnt want to work any more.
it seems theres no power comming out of the control box(connected the loom to an older ck-7w and it worked)but when i plug in the 616 box i'm getting nothing!!
theres no power going to the control button or the screen.
could anybody help me with this or is it knackered?

Is the blue wire connected to a positive supply when you turn the ignition on. Without this the kit will not work.

  • Car kit problem HFU-5 control box

I recently installed my car kit for my nokia 6230i and it worked great no problems.... now my radio is on constant mute and the phone is not connecting up when I put it on the cradle.........any suggestions

The car kit may be frozen. Try disconnecting the power to it for a short time to reset it. That may work. If it is too difficult to disconnect the power, disconnect the car battery instead.

  • Nokia Car Kit compatibility

I have just updated from a 6610i to a 6230i and was told by my service provider that the new phone was comatible with my 12 month old car kit.
When I received the new phone I had the error message "enhancement not supported" when I phoned my service provider I was informed that a CA55 cable would do the trick. I contacted Nokia before buying the cable and was told this cable would not work, in fact there was not any other phone that would work with the phone kit I have. I feel a bit agreived that the car kit is now rendered useless, having had it for only 12 months.
Check with the phone provider about compatibility before changing your phone rather than rely on your service providers information.....

I assumed, but shouldn't have, that because I had the kit fitted at a reputable auto electricians, that because the phone holster was a Nokia that the rest of the kit would also be Nokia. When I removed the main box of the kit I found that it was not a Nokia part. I have now got a proper Nokia kit and this works fine, although not bluetooth I got it at a good price, so it should be good for 12 months till my next upgrade. Next time I'll not assume!!!!

  • Car kit in Saab9-3

I have just acquired a Saab 93 registered Jan 04 on a 53 plate, so not very old. It has a Nokia car kit fitted to a built-in system with antenna, mike and steering wheel controls. There is a box under the dash labelled Nokia type HFU-4 with sockets for DC/Phone/Mic/Speaker and Handset (not used).
The only Nokia 'phone I have is a 7600. On plugging in the connector I get "not supported" message. The 'phone holder is not an issue as the connector can be removed from it and plugged straight into the 'phone. Is the problem to do with software within the 'phone??
    Thanks for any help.

None of the car kits supporting you phone have HFU-4 handsfree unit.

  • Interface or converter for 1st generation 10GB iPod to car kit ?

Hi, replaced my old but well doing 1st generation 10GB iPod by a new 4GB nano because the old accu is almost all down. Have as well installed a bn iPod car kit instead of my car CD player. My idea was to use the old 10GB iPod in the cars glove box, because the weary battery wouldn´t bother any more since it´s connected to the cars electric supply.
The PROBLEM is: the connecting plug of the car kit fits all new iPod models, but not to the old 1st generation iPod.
Is there a converter or sort of interface available?
Or does anybody know how to solve this?
Thanks in advance for any hint and tip! Would be a pity to use it simply as a storage HD...

Yeah, 1st gen came with Firewire port, you can try to find a firewire adapater which is not easy at all. However, you can plug an audio fm transmitter with the headphone jack of your iPod

  • Problems Car-Kit CK-7W Bluetooth connection not st...

    Hello,
I have the following problem :
I have in my Car a Nokia CK-7W Car-Kit. The phone i use is a Nokia N73 with the latest software 4.0736.3.2.1.
the only connection i use is the bluetooth i dont use the cable connection.
Verry often when i am calling someone the connection is suddenly not good anymore. there is suddenly a lot of noise so the person on the other side is just hearing noise and could not understand me anymore.
Calling again will not solve the problem they cant understand what i am saying.
The only solution is to turn the ignition key to 0 so the car-kit is turned off and then restart again.
Also has to power off the N73 and back on --> problem solved for a while.
I have tried with my older Phone Nokia 6280 there the problem is not the same. Sometimes it is also not good but not the same as with the N73.
With the 6280 i have also a different problem that it is not posible to disconnect the line when calling. so when i push the CK-7W button for a disconnect the line keeps open the only option is the read key on the phone.
So i dont know exacly what is defective , is it the car-kit or are both the phones not good.
Does anyone has the same problem.
Someone told me that it is because i have one of the first CD-7W car-kits so they have software that is to old. I dont think that it is normal that there are so much problems. They have told me that i have one of the first versions because my paing key is not 0000 but a nr in my case 1819.
When the CK-7W Module is defective , does anyone know if it is possibe that i just buy a Module without the other accessories.
    Thanks for the advice.

    Hello,
I can ubderstand if yo have installed more than 100 CK-7W that you are sure that the passcode must be 0000.
I am 100% sure that on my original box there is CK-7W and on the manual the passcode is 1819.
I have also a POP connector + cable (wich is not installed ) to connect the phone with cable. Has the CK-1W also this possibility ?
What i dont can see is the correct nr ont the main unit because it is stiil someware behind the dashboard.
The only think i can think of is that i have received a ck-1W like you told but is was in a CK-7W box. The manual deliverd was also CK-7W but the passcode was on a label that was put on the manual so they have the possibility to make a misttake.
I dont think that after +- 3 year i can go to Nokia an ask them for the correct one ?
So someone had made a mistake , maybe at Nokia or maybe in the shop. Why i dont know . the only thing i know is that i have a lot of problemens with this stupid thing.
If you have installed 100's of the CK-7W can you advice me if the stupid thing is working fine or that i be better of to buy another one ?
I only need a goed stable working Car-Kit not with display,....
    Thanks

  • Advanced car kit CK-7W

I have just bought one of these kits, installed it and all works fine BUT the instructions suggest there should be a data cable ( CA-27) included which plugs into the phone and bypasses bluetooth.. Does anyone know if this cable will plug into the bottom of a N 70 and indeed where i can get this cable from? The dealer has 3 unopened boxes all not including this cable.. Does it come with a cable normally?
I would rather use cable as the bluetooth seems to interfere with a gps bluetooth kit causing it to drop out regularly
    Many Thanks
    Ian

The CK-7W car kit should have come with the data/pop port lead which will plug into the bottom of your N70 phone and function ok, i do suggest that if you do want to use this option that you also add a cradle due to saftey reasons and the pins may bend.
I would go back to this dealer and demand that lead, i can be a difficult part to aquire later if needed.

  • Nokia car kit

Hi there i have tried to make my own car kit using parts i bought on e-bay but i havn't been very successful and am hoping somebody can help.To date iv purchased a hfu-4 , a cu-7 remote button,hfm-8 mic, hfs-12 speaker, mbc-15s hands free holder, ca-27 lead and a pcu-4 power cable.i've put all togther and all i get is a rectangular shapeed icon on my phone which is a 6230i,can someone please tell me where im going wrong thanks chopperk.

I cant tell you what the rectangular shape means, dose the kit power up and can you find the ck-7w when you do a bluetooth search?. Sounds to me like someone has sold you a duff box or you have wired it incorrectly.

  • Nokia 3210, which Car kit?

My mother has bought a car with a Cark 91 kit installed.
I have bought her a 6310i to use with it but wants her 3210 back.
Which Cark number, or cradle do I need to get?
    Many thanks.

if you have connected the amplifier wires and the nokia output wires together then you could have damaged the nokia. you would need to put the outputs from you amp to the inputs of the nokia unless the is a very powerfull amplifier.
I need to correct what I say before. Carpc and amplifier was not powered on when I try to get sound from Nokia to speakers. Because I didn't get any sound out from Nokia, I disconnect car kit's speaker wires and I plug in Nokia SP-3 speaker to junction box. So I have not been able to damaged Nokia. Also I don't wanna connect amp outputs to Nokia's inputs because then it cut sound from carpc which I don't want.

  • Upgrading a Car Kit from Nokia 6310i to Nokia 6680

I drive a Mercedes E320 which has a fitted car kit which takes a Nokia 6310i in a cradle. This works very well and is integrated to the car radio etc, it is not a Mercedes kit as it does not integrate to the Mercedes Command System (i.e. I can not push the button on the steering wheel to answer calls etc). I think it is Nokia Car Kit but I can not be sure as it is hidden under stacks of plastic and leather and it will be a devil of a job just to find the box.
Last year I upgraded to a Nokia 6680 (my trusty 6310i having decided to retire) and given the law on use of phone in cars I thought it about time I put a new car kit in the Merc, (I cant do with things in my ears, so headsets are out of the question). I have bought a CK-7W and the cradle for the 6680 but as it is going to be a difficult job to locate and replace the whole system (or expensive if I have the dealer do it) the question I want to ask is simple. Is it possible to just CUT the cables between the different cradles and thereby join the new 6680 cradle to the existing 6310i car kit, (I am quite proficient with a soldering iron and heat shrink tubing). OK, I know this is a bit Heath Robinson but if it will work then it will save me a whole load of time and inconvenience, or a whole stash of money as I don’t relish the thought of ripping out a Mercedes dashboard just to find the car kit
If it is possible does anyone know the cable colours (if they are not the same, between 6310i and 6680).
    Thanks
    David

    Hi
The new cradle (CA27) will not work with the old car kit (assuming its the CARK-91).
But If you can locate the CARK-91 control box behind the dash (my guess is that it will be near the radio of behind the glove box), there is no need for cutting/ joining of wires.
Autoleads make an adaptor from the old Nokia 6-pin to the new 4-pin connector.
Its simply then a case of replacing the phone cradle, replacing the control box with CK-7W, swapping the other connectors (mic, speaker), plugging in the converter, and away you go.
Search for "06-208B Autoleads Adaptors" in Google for the converter (be careful - there is another adaptor that is 4-pin to 6-pin

  • Help Me!!! Re: Car Kit

I'm new to all this. I've just bought a 5 series BMW and it has a hands free kit in there already. I have never used car kits in my life.
The kit looks like a CARK-91 (not sure of the exact model). The holder is wired (can't disconnect it).
The problem is I have a Nokia 6230.
Is there anyway I can change the holder so my 6230 can work on it or do I have to change the whole car kit?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for that seraphim. I just spoke to BMW and they can't help. All they stock is bluetooth kits now.
Someone told me you can clip off the holder with the wire from a box which is usually under the dashboard. Is that true? And then can I replace it with a 6230 holder and wire?
    Really appreciate your help.

  • Fitting ck-w7 car kit to vectra

    hi everyone
has anyone fitted a ck-w7 car kit to a 2005 holden vectra cdxi with standard head unit cdc40 . if so would like to know how to connect the ck-w7 through my stereo speakers. what do i have to join into, which wires from the ck-7w unit are used to connect. any help would be great.
thanks peterMessage Edited by vectra05 on 11-Nov-200710:41 AM

There are two ways of connecting on a vectra, if you have the pre wires telephone lead the remove the glove box and the loom will be taped to the bar next to the radio, you will need a loon adaptor to connect on to this loom, or you can buy a loom adaptor which connects to the back of the stereo, there is no ignition supply at the radio so you will have to pick up a supply at the fuse box on the end of the dash, black wire. I may add that if you do not know what you are doing then get a proffesional to do it, you can do a lot of damage very easily on modern cars.

  • Nokia 8800 car kit connection

I have recently bought a car that came with a standard car kit, i think it is the most popular business kit, the CK-7W. This fits all recent models of nokia pone accept the 8800 and maybe a few others, i was wondering if there is a connection i can get to connect my 8800 to this kit, i am currently using a Nokia PPH-1 car kit that plugs into the cigarette lighter port but this is poor quality and a phone of this quality should surely have some sort of connection available. Can anybody advise me of this...
    Thanks!

the Nokia 8800 should work with a ck-7w, you may have to reset the memory to make room for new connections. Press and hold Nokia button on dash till it bleeps, if this dont work find the brain box and unplug, it may need a power reset.

  • New ipod update breaks Mopar Jeep integration car kit

I updated to iTunes 7 and did the ipod update on my 5G ipod that came with it. It has broken my Mopar ipod Jeep Integration kit to listen to my ipod in the car. I get the message from the car that says "update firmware," which I assume means that the car can't recognize the new firmware. I'm downgrading now, but what I want to know is, are future ipod updates going to break my car kit every time? Is it something apple can fix or mopar? Does anyone have this problem with their car integration and ipod updates? Also, can I run iTunes 7 with the last working version of firmware, or will I lose the new movie and game features? Any other stories/workarounds/information would be great, the documentation with the Mopar kit is horrible...

I downgraded to the last ipod update by downloading it from apple and don't seem to have any problems with iTunes 7 or my car now, aside from iTunes telling me my ipod isn't up to date yet. I still would like to know if I will ever be able to update my ipod again or if I am "stuck" with this version of the ipod software? I don't like that I can't update it again without it breaking my car integration. Hopefully they fix that in next release.

  • Car Kit Queries - HFU-4 replacement needed

Hi, please can I get some help. I've just bought a car with a Nokia car kit, dont known which kit it is but the box says HFU-4.
I do not have a nokia phone so i was hoping i could replace the HFU-4 with the HF5 and use a bluetooth wheel to connect to my Ericsson.
If this is possible, is all the wiring the same and just a matter of swopping the boxes?
The kit is connected to the car radio/sat nav (ISO??)  The car is a Passat with the sat nav MFD Radio.
    Thanks so much
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

the kit you have is a cark-126, the connections are the same on the hfu-5 (ck7w) but you will need the control button to control the volume and answer the calls. You will also need to make sure the ignition wire ( blue ) is connected to an ignition supply to turn the kit off and on as this was not nessassary on the hfu-4
