Is my device secure logged into someone else's icloud?

We have Ipads at work that we can use for work related things. All teh devices are logged into one persons Icloud. Is this secure? The VP for our department wants to use it for email adn stuff and I am concerned taht if someone else is logged intot eh cloud that her device is not secure. can anyone clear this up for me? is it secure or not?  Thank you!

This article discussess iCloud security: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4865, but the primary issue you'll run into sharing a single account is that when you do this, everyone's synced data is merged, and the merged data appears on everyone's device(s).  Also, any action on one device is replicated to all other device.  If, for example, one person deletes a contact on their device, it is then deleted from all other devices sharing the account.  You would end up seeing, for example, each other's contacts, calendars, email, etc.  Each iCloud account also comes with a single iCloud email account and 5GB of free storage, up to a maximum of 55GB with purchased upgrades.  With a number of people sharing the account you would quickly run out of space and may not be able to purchase enough to accomodate everyone.
Furthermore, iCloud is designed for personal rather than business use.  As such there are limits imposed on services like email that may not be sufficient for a business environment (see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4863 and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4489).

  • Automatically logging into someone else's network

There are several networks in my office complex, including my own Belkin N wireless. Every time I start up my G5, the HWUN1A Wireless utility automatically connects to somebody else's open network, rather than to mine. Mine requires a password, the other one doesn't. Is there a way to set network preferences or otherwise prevent logging onto my neighbor's network -- and always choose my network instead?

Yes, it appears as "USB Ethernet (en1)"
When I click on "Advanced" there are several panes available, but none allow me to do anything about network preferences. (I'm familiar with how to do this with Airport, as I also have a PowerBoook I use at the office.)
I've written to Hawking Technology's support people about this issue, thinking there may be something I'm missing in their network utility, but have never had a reply from them.

If you are using your main account for iTunes, you should continue to do so, otherwise you will lose access to many of your purchased items made that account.
You can delete the AOL account for iCloud only on your iPhone and first iPad, by going to settings > iCloud, scrolling down and hitting delete account button. You will then enter your me account details into the iCloud settings.
When you delete your AOL account from the iCloud settings, the phone should give you the option of keeping your data on the phone, you need to make sure that you choose this option, and also choose the option to merge when you add your new account back.

To sign out of what ever Apple ID is signed in, go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores and then tap the Apple ID and you will see an option to sign out.

  • Strange device permanently logged into my account ...

    Hi,
    Question:
Is there a temporary file on the server in my skype accout? I mean, an obsolete file that should have been deleted at the end of one of the skype sessions? And if yes, then is this file causing me problems calling certain overseas numbers?
    The problem:
I noticed today that I can't call certain mobile numbers of abroad operators and phones are physically located abroad. Instead of an intermittent signal, I hear voice message "The number you selected is incorrect. Please review and try again." or something like this.
Interestingly (not sure if related), that when I tried to call those two mob. numbers from a landline I had the same result.
Started googlind and found skype chat comands (something happens when you enter them into a chat window): https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10042/what-are-chat-commands-and-roles
    One of those comands:
    /showplaces
displays all instances of skype currently logged into an account:
    /showplaces
    You have 3 online endpoints:
    {abcdefgh-ijkl-mnop-qrst-uvwxyzabcdef}) mypc Linux Skype
    {f8a5a8af-xxxx-bcbe-yyyy-zzzzzzzzzzzz}) localhost Android Skype
    {d022f523-xxxx-3f23-yyyy-zzzzzzzzzzzz}) localhost Android Skype
First device (fake ID of course) is my PC, second is probably my phone, third one might be a result of a corrupted temporary file.
Please note that sections of ID sequences marked with "x", "y" and "z" are identical between each "localhost Android Skype" devices. Only the first and third sequences are different.
I changed the password 3 times (incl. skype account recovery where you have to put quite specific data, whilst i another tab of the web browser, where I had logged in before, I was still able to manipulate the account). That did not change the list of logged in devices (and I didn't check if I was able to make a call to those two mobile numbers).
Then I switched the phone completely off. Checked again with
    /showplaces
and I still can see the above 3 devices, despite there should be only one now. However, I can call those two numbers now.
Unfortunately in the end of that play I typed another coman:
    /remotelogout
which kills all other sessions except from this one, from which such comand is executed.
So looks like my problem is solved FOR NOW, but I still want to know what the hell happened.
    Please advise.

  • Completely new iphone logged into someone elses apple id

So recently I got the new iphone 5s (completely sealed in plastic) as a late Christmas present but when I opened it up and tried backing up from my iCloud it asked for the password for someone elses account (I'm not sure anymore but i think it was amandamcvittie@bt???.com??). Anyway, once that came up I decided to leave it there for then and headed over to Apple's Bluewater branch, where it had been purchased, to ask what was wrong. When I got there and approached a worker I was told that there was nothing to worry about and that I should just skip the step and delete the additional account when I got into the system. Another problem was that when the iCloud had been backed up there was an error or something and it went back to the start up screen again (something I was told was unusual but nothing to worry about and which was also ignored) so I had to go through the first few steps again and yet again ignore the amandamcvittie question. Regardless, when we (we being the worker and I) finally reached the main app page of the phone we went to settings and scrolled down to the iTunes and App Store option only to find that the Apple ID was clearly mine. Having seen that we proceeded to check the iCloud option and yet again the account was clearly mine. Unable to find anything that noted the existence of any other account on my phone I was told that there was nothing to worry about and that it probably wasn't anything major. Still slightly unconvinced I went to the App Store to ascertain whether I could download apps without being asked the password for amanda's account. Having downloaded the featured 12 Days of Gifts app without any problem I decided to trust the workers and headed home.
After arriving home and connecting to my internet I pressed one of my apps to begin the downloading process of all my old data (music and apps) and was asked for my password but once I had given my password another pop up asking for amanda's password appeared. Without giving it much thought I simply pressed cancel and the downloading began. Realising what I had done I regretted not taking a screenshot since I was unaware when proof that the amanda account was still stuck in my iphone would appear again but I was not to worry as when I checked my music I saw that there was an unfamiliar album there called 'The Lumineers'. Once everything else had been downloaded this album stayed grey so I pressed it to see what would happen and if the pop up requesting amanda's account password would appear but instead of that it just began flashing and trying to download or something (it looked pretty creepy). I just checked and it is still flashing. This is a picture of the album when I click on it because I did not have the chance to screenshot anything else when it came up.
I could always upload a short clip of the album cover flashing but I can't be bothered right now
I went to the Bluewater branch again today and was told that I could exchange my phone for another one but I didn't have the original receipt with me so I have to go again.
But more importantly I just want to know why there was someone elses apple id on the phone and why there's an album there? I don't mean to jump to conclusions but doesn't this mean that I paid for a new iphone only to find that it had already been used by someone else before? Has anyone else ever had this happen before?

    Hi
Just got my wife a new iphone 5s phone from Three shop and exactly the same has happened. The Apple ID was [email protected] and every time it goes to download an app it asks for their password and then my wife's password. So weird. Taking phone back to the shop tomorrow for a replacement !

  • ICloud child account - Can't log into Apple ID or iCloud with child account

Nightmare!  Created three kids accounts.  Loaded the ID on iTouchs.
Then went to https://appleid.apple.com/account/home to change info... couldn't log in.
I also couldn't log into iCloud with the new ID's.
After a call to apple (no help) and thinking real hard (and wasting a day)....
The reason is because when I entered the new ID into iTouch (the ID was orginally created on my Iphone)... I had restrictions turned on in the iTouch.
I disabled all restrictions.  Waited a few minutes.  Then was able to log into both sites.
Then put restrictions back on on the iTouch.  Still able to log into both sites.
Apple failed to mention that small detail.
    Hope this helps someone else.
PS. Apple told me that the kids id was not able to be used as an email? or log into iCloud? NOT!
It has full rights as any other ID (other than purchases).

  • Someone else's .icloud address under my apple id

Someone else's contacts, email, etc is saved under my icloud apple id. There is a different email address which is owned by whomever. I had another phone that may not have deleted my apple id information when I sold the phone. What can I do? In settings under icloud, when you select account, the icloud account info is as follows : my email address with password in blank. In the advanced box there is the other persons icloud email address, but my name is in the box.

    Chede wrote:
I already went into my Apple ID account and removed the iCloud email.
You mean in System Preferences>iCloud? this just disconnects you from the Mail server.
So what you are saying is that when I want to set up my iCloud email, the "system" will not let me create a new primary iCloud email because I already have one set up?
    Yes.
So now when I set up his iPhone, I will have to choose a different iCloud email name for him?
    I'm afraid so.
Is the current iCloud email then just sitting in the iCloud
    Yes.
I'm not sure I understand what iCloud Alliases are either.
You can add up to three 'email aliases' - these are additional addresses (not accounts) which deliver into the same inbox as the main account. (In fact it's a good idea to give out alias addresses, rather than the main address, because if they attract spam you can easily change them.) (New aliases can only be @icloud.com ones; @me.com addresses cannot now be created.)
You should be aware before you start that once you've created an alias you cannot turn that address into a full iCloud account, move it to another account, or reactivate it if you delete it.

  • How do I log into iChat if my iCloud is set up through my personal email?

I have an iCloud account through a personal email address, but when I log into iChat on my Mac it asks me for an AIM, @mac.com, or @me.com address? Help?

    HI,
I have an Apple ID that is a email from an Dial up service I once used.
(actually I can still download mail from this service but cannot send unless I login using Dial up)
When iCloud came out I linked this to iCloud and was given an @me.com ID as well.
Later Apple changed these to @icloud.com and I got one of those as well.
For iTunes, Logging here to post or accessing iCloud in a  Browser I can use anyone of on the three "names" but with one common password.
In Messages or iChat though this Apple ID does not work.
It has to be one of the ones Issued by Apple.
Changes in iChat 6 and the two Messages version in Mountain Lion and Mavericks  that use a Login to Apple as well as AIM to Verify things before AIM is allowed to "read" the Password means the later IDs issued under iCloud will not work in iChat 5 or earlier.
@mac.com names issued under the .Mac service or as "iChat Names" during the MobileMe period will still work in any version.
If you have the @me.com or @icloud.com IDs use those (even if it says @me.com on the setting in iChat)
Add the ID in full to the AIM setting option.
If you don't then Register a name at AIM.

  • How can erase my information on someone else's icloud?

    Hello,
I was recently a victim of an armed robbery for the first time in my life and had my purse and iphone stolen, but luckily, the authorities came and retrieved it from the home of a suspect associated with the man the next day thanks to the gps of the phone. However, I soon discovered that the man who had stolen my iphone deleted all of my apps and updated my contacts to include my own name and apple id address and when i tried to erase it, I think that i may or may have not updated his own icloud with my own information. I do not know if that is possible but i am freaking the **** out. The man has yet to be caught and is now equipped with my own email, apple id, phone number, and possibly home address as well (and my family's individual phone numbers) on his icloud. All i have, if it would be any help, is his apple id and his first name (which showed up when i connected my usb to my comp). I contacted the police again but they couldn't do much about this type of technological situation. I hope that you all could help me in anyway possible, for now i am fearing for my life and my family's and friends' lives as well.
      Thank You Very Much
                                  -KhacRich

Being robbed at gunpoint is a traumatic event to say the least. I'm sure no one could possibly understand the depth of your concern.
I can only suggest that the felon who took your iPhone with all the information on it really doesn't have anything more than what someone could find out by using a phone book or any number of other records. Try to consider this rationally - your posessions were recovered, but is the thief going to track you down again? Why? It would be the height of stupidity. Not that dirtbags and felons are smart, but I doubt he wants to risk getting caught by going to your home or even harassing you with so much as a phone call. You were robbed for no other reason than to get a few bucks for drugs, nothing more, and the scumbag has long since moved on to his next victim.
Technologically speaking, I doubt there is anything you can do to erase information on someone else's account. However, given the circumstances, I would contact Apple's legal department, explain the armed robbery and provide a copy of your complaint to the police. It would be ideal if they would unceremoniously cancel his iCloud account. I seriously doubt they will do that, unless pressured to do so, since as a rule Apple does not get involved in thefts. Perhaps if you pointed out failure to act as you request could lead to injury to yourself or someone else, leaving Apple in a vulnerable position if that were to happen, might convince them to take appropriate action on your behalf.
I am just speculating though. You ought to consult an attorney to determine if this is advisable.
