Is my IDE controler bad ?

I have posted issues relating to my Mac over the last 6 months. I had given up on her thinking it was the LB . I finally took it to a local guy who was limited in Mac resources , but got her running . I then discovered how I think he may have done it . He moved the drives to the first set of IDE cables in the front of the chassis , under the CD drive. It has been running well , but when I moved the drives back to the factory spot , I get the same flashing ? folder icon. I then moved the drives back to the front spot , and she's running fine , except she wont see my second drive hooked up. When I first attempted to connect the second drive , the Mac would boot , but I would get this rectangle black box withina white screen, where the boot info would display , and then she would hang , but when I would disconnect the second drive , all was fine . I had a perfectly healthy machine until this happened back in Oct.
If it is the LB , I just dont understand how it would run fine when the drives are in different areas , and it ran fine when I ran a Live version disk of Linux from the cd/rom. It never gave me issues. I am finally taking to a authorized Apple repair center and getting to the bottom of this. Any ideas guy's ? Dale , you have been very
EDIT: I just unplugged the main drive , and used the second, it was a white screen , with a black rectangular box , and the fan runs like crazy! Maybe it's a bad drive? I will try just the Main drive in the OEM spot on Sunday

I would take a look at the ribbon cable that connects the drive to the logic board, it may have gotten pinched and suffered some damage. You could try swapping the cable from the working drive bus with the malfunctioning bus and see if you can replicate the problem.
I suppose it could be a problem with the drive itself, although I would posit that moving the drive from the faster rear bus to the slower front bus could theoretically worsen the problem. Not sure.
The box you describe sounds like a Kernel Panic. Does the box contain a warning message in several languages?

How copy IBASE in copy control badi

I add some field in an task document for input IBASE and componet and then I want to create follow up transaction , it's a service order , I want to use copy control badi to fill the IBASE and componet fields from task to order , so I write some code in the method REFOBJ of the copy control badi.
But when I debug this programe ,I found it will not call this method ,and if I set a breakpoint in the method ORDERADM_H, it is OK .
I have define copy control for transaction type and fill the copy routine .
Does it have any confingration can let it call the REFOBJ method ?

If you drag a file to a new location on the same volume the file will be moved. If you drag the file while holding down the option key it will be copied to the new location instead of moved. You can also Copy/Paste a file like you do in Windows. You cannot, however, Cut/Paste a file to move it.

Apex and remote database links.... Good idea or bad?

We would like to have one single Apex installation that would be used to develop many applications against many remote databases.
Database links would seem to be the obvious mechanism to achieve this goal, but we have had many issues with db links.
Also, our research indicates this might not be a good idea for various reasons.
Any opinions or experiences around this topic would be greatly appreciated.

It's not really an Apex question. If you can't get db links to work, it's a database issue. If it's performance over the db link, again it's a database issue (assuming modern networks aren't the bottleneck here). Remote views (instead of selecting from remote tables) often increase performance.
If the applications don't have to share data over the db links, you can set up one master application and several sub-applications on the different databases. The master is used to log in once. See:

COPY Control BADI

Hi All,
I need some inputs... I have to updated Opportunity transaction from Lead Transaction.
Scenario is : We are using Copy control. Where when we create a lead and save it, then we select Create follow up document where we select Opportunity.
And now we have to capture all the Z fields value from lead to Opportunity Zfields screen tab.
I am using the BADI CRM_COPY_BADI and in that i am putting the break point in method Opport_H ,OPPORT_I.
But the transaction is not stopping over there. Is there some other way to capture the created lead when we use follow up transaction.
And if someone has done it before can please let me know the step by step procdure.

Appcelerator Titanium? good idea? bad idea?

So in my attempt at learning Objective C and the iPhone SDK to build my own apps i have been directed to The Appcelerator Titanium program for Mac. Is this thing a good idea? It uses Javascript from what i understand is a bit easier to get behind than Object C or Java (which id like to eventually do Android apps to).
So any opinions on this? good? bad? any input would be great.

My iPhone started acting "loopy" in March. Locked up while I was on the road; had to buy a Go phone. After a complete restore... well, it continued to act flakey: would randomly ask for SIM PIN, would randomly restart itself, would loose signal which it regained after restart. Trip to the Genius bar in Tampa: replaced the phone, then had AT&T replace the SIM card. Problems returned. Trip to Genius bar in Orlando: another phone but problems persisted. Call to Apple: conference call w/ 2 Apple techs, AT&T tech and decided to get another SIM card from AT&T store but not turn on SIM PIN. Problems persisted. Another call to Apple on Saturday, May 3. Apple tech Lynn asked "Do you have a belt case w/ a magnetic clasp?" I said "Yes." She said "Get rid of it." Her daughter had similar problems w/ iPod which were caused by case w/ magnetic clasp. So I stopped using the case w/ magnetic clasp and my iPhone has been rock solid ever since. Kudos to Lynn. Note to other Apple techs: That should be the 1st question you ask.

Controlling BADI triggering order

Using filter values we can handel multiple implementations of BADI. if there is nothing like that then BADI's triggering fully dependent on kernel.
Multiple use of BADI defination means that there can be several active BADI implementations. When there ia a call, They are all called up - however, if you have multiple-use BADI definations, the sequence must not play any roll therefore, a typical example is the execution of checks before a save.

Delivery quantity control Badi CL_IM_LE_SHP_DELIVERY_PRO

I want to check delivery quantity not to be greater than Po quantity , so on exit MV50AFZ1 save_document_prepare and badi CL_IM_LE_SHP_DELIVERY_PRO, save_document_prepare method . Both of them I can change lips-lfimg field and also another method of delivery read_delivery is passing on VL02N I see the change but it doesnt written at the screen which is displayed on delivery ,

Designing with video files ... Good idea or bad?

Hey guys,
I have a DVD interface designed, therefore all the idle menus
and transitions are composed of video. I want to design my website
to reflect the DVD... so would it be a wise choice to use all the
videos -- in this case, looping page backgrounds and transitions
(all Quicktime format) -- and then code interactive buttons to
them? Obviously it will have to be compressed, but I don't want to
lose too much quality, yet I don't want the user to have to wait
forever to load up the site. Any ideas, thoughts, and/or
suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I vote against them. Because then you will be hearing audio in a way that NO ONE ELSE will. Often, when we go the final mix of a show, we listen to the audio as it plays out of TV speakers...because this is how a majority of people will hear it. The audio guy mixes using his good speakers, but then the final playback is thru the TV ones so we know audio works there too, and we can hear everything. If you use noise cancelling headphones, and put in subtle audio, that audio might be lost in real world playback.

Sound bars...good idea or bad idea?

I am looking at purchasing a new HT system, but the Sony sound bars caught my eye. I know they can't fully sound as good as a true 5.1 or 7.1, but I like the idea of not having to run wires. Do they sound good with movies or just TV? Any help is welcomed.

The sound bars produced today are actually amazing. While they might not give you the range of a more expensive set, they are perfect for average home theater use. They use 3D sound technology to bounce off walls, creating artificial surround sound that actually impressive - the sort of technology you would of paid thousands of dollars for a few years ago.
I would not recommend sound bars for mainly music use - they are not designed for that. They are designed for home theaters - and if that is your purpose, and you don't wish to run a more extensive and expensive system, sound bars are great. They are arranged so that the speaking voice is louder and the music softer, which is a major failing of a big theater system which isn't properly set up.
Quick, easy, and simple the use is the advantage of a soundbar.
Limited options for more intense audiophiles is the disadvantage.

Camera needs exposure controls - badly

I've scanned this forum and haven't seen any messages that are wondering where the iPhones exposure controls are.
As we all know, the iPhone does a great job of taking images when there is plenty of light on the subject. But if you shoot an environment with a contrasting backlight, the foreground subject is simply a silhouette.
It would be a very simple matter to increase exposure time to better illuminate foreground subjects in these sorts of scenarios. Yes, it MAY require the user to hold the phone extra steady while the shot is taken (or, if the sensor has ISO type controls, it could simply bump up the ISO which would increase noise in the shot but it would be sharp).
Apple - please give us a few manual override presets we can activate with a single touch when needed, or better still an exposure slider. It would increase the usefulness of the camera.

Interesting replies. Not what I expected, but thanks just the same. To address some of the replies, in no particular order:
- the purpose of the iPhone is to eliminate duplicity of gadgets. I just want the camera in the iPhone to work a wee bit better than it does now.
- the sensor inside the iPhone is capable of taking better pictures under something less than ideal conditions. If a simple exposure slider would fix this, I fail to see how this would be 'stupid'.
- I don't expect 'award winning' images from an iPhone. I would like to be able to see a persons face if taking the image where the light isn't concentrated on the subject. All of the dirt cheap and most basic point and shoot cameras do this. Its just software to control the sensors sensitivity.
- I'm a professional photographer, I have plenty of cameras. The iPhone could never be a substitute for any of them. But I do know the camera can do a better job, with a simple software tweak. Thats all I am asking for.
- I'm aware that this is a user to user forum, and I've already mentioned sending this to feedback. I said this in my initial post. But its clear that I'm in the minority on the desire for the camera to improve with a simple software update. No biggie.

Spinning beach balls out of control-bad RAM?

I have a late-2006 Intel iMac upgraded with the maximum amount of supported RAM (3GB) and running OS X 10.4.11 + Security Update 2008-001. Starting a couple of weeks ago, I started being plagued with spinning beach balls out the wazoo—everywhere from the login screen to loading pages in Safari to opening e-mails in Entourage. They're not frequent enough to make the system unusable, but they are frequent enough to tick me off. In addition, startup and shutdown have gotten extremely sluggish.
Neither Disk Utility nor DiskWarrior reveals any permissions or directory problems, and my HD's S.M.A.R.T. status is OK. AHT doesn't turn up anything either, though I haven't tried running it in extended mode. PRAM and SMU resets don't seem to make a difference.
My RAM is from OWC—could it possibly have gone bad? I also get the error "Can't create temp image" when I try to update prebinding in Terminal; could that be a clue to a problem as well? Any other possibilities, e.g., a bad power supply?

You could run your Apple Hardware Test to check your hardware. Most here feel the free Rember does a better job testing RAM.

2 instance of iTunes? Good idea, or bad?

I used two iTunes instances to sync calendar at work and music/applications at home. After doing this for the first time yesterday, my iPhone 3Gs did not function properly. Applications didn’t load (the would just pop up a splash scren and then go back to the menu) and I noticed the power indicator never moved from 100% all day. I did a recovery and it all works again.
I've had to re-download all the free applications, but the ones I paid for are asking me to pay for them again. How do I get those without paying again?
Also, what might have caused the issue in the first place? Should I not use multiple instances of iTunes? Both are newly downloaded in the last week, so they ‘should’ be the latest versions.

You definitely shouldn't have to re-pay for apps you already paid for. Are you sure you're logged in with the same account you bought the apps under?
If so: On the iPhone and iTunes it will look like you need to re-buy an app, but once you start the download it will just tell you that you've already bought it and it will download it again for free. Try this on one of your cheapest apps and see if it works.

I'd say you're overlapping the general security solutions here with different things. It probably wont do much of a harm or not impact performance (we're not in 90s), but I'm personally not enthusiastic about such inventions and hybrids. When you use Freedome, it does the encryption for you as you're going through the tunnel anyway. Freedome provides few additional, well coded functionalities like blocking trackers, etc. Using three solutions is like not believing in any of those.

Creation of Vendor Invoice - BADI to control "Payment Baseline Date field"

In the process of creation of vendor invoice in Header Data - Payment Data tab there is a field "Payment Baseline Date" and I want to populate custom value to this field using BADI. But I could not find any BADI to do this.
Can any one please let me know if any idea what BADI I can use.
I tried DOC_CHANGE_BADI and this one does not have this field in the ET_HEADER.

Business Add-Ins
Business Add-Ins are a new SAP enhancement technique based on ABAP Objects. They can be inserted into the SAP System to accommodate user requirements too specific to be included in the standard delivery. Since specific industries often require special functions, SAP allows you to predefine these points in your software.
As with customer exits (SMOD/CMOD Page 40), two different views are available:
In the definition view, an application programmer predefines exit points in a source that allow specific industry sectors, partners, and customers to attach additional software to standard SAP source code without having to modify the original object.
In the implementation view, the users of Business Add-Ins can customize the logic they need or use a standard logic if one is available.
In contrast to customer exits, Business Add-Ins no longer assume a two-system infrastructure (SAP and customers), but instead allow for multiple levels of software development (by SAP, partners, and customers, and as country versions, industry solutions, and the like). The Business Add-In enhancement technique differentiates between enhancements that can only be implemented once and enhancements that can be used actively by any number of customers at the same time.
