Is my internal HD too full for recording?

My MBP has a 120 GB HD, and 80 GB is in use. I need to be able to record up to 2 hours at a time, that's about 26 GB of HDV footage. It would just about fit with a little free space left over, but am I better off using an empty external USB drive?

I've done both with success.  However, I would prefer to offload some of that 80GB to the external drive to free up space on the internal and thus remove a possible problem (such as cable failure, power failure to the external, who knows what else) from the signal chain.

    Hello Pushtheriver,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice concerning iCloud storage issues:

    Understanding iOS device capacity
You can sync and download many different types of content on your device. Some types of content (such as music and videos) typically take more space than others (such as notes and books). The amount of space taken by an app depends on the app's purpose; complex or graphically intense apps usually take more space than simpler apps.
If your device is near its capacity, you can remove some of the less used content to make room for more.

  • FBU Internal Job Queue Full for Synchronous Processing of Print Requests

    Hello All,
We are getting a lot of errors in system log (SM21) with the
Error : FBU Internal Job Queue Full for Synchronous Processing of Print Requests
    User :SAPSYS
    MNO:FBU
    =============================================================
Documentation for system log message FB U :
If a spool server is to process output requests in the order they were
created using multiple work processes, the processing of requests for a
particular device can only run on one work process. To do this an
internal queue (limited size) is used.
If too many requests are created for this device too quickly, the work
process may get overloaded. This is recognized when, as in this case,
    the internal queue is exhausted.
This can only be solved by reducing the print load or increasing
processor performance or, if there is a connection problem to the host
spooler, by improving the transfer of data to the host spooler.
Increasing the number of spool work processes will not help, as
requests for one device can only be processed by one work process. If
processing in order of creation is not required, sequential request
processing can be deactivated (second page of device configuration in
Transaction SPAD). This allows several work processes to process
requests from the same device thus alleviating the bottleneck.
Enlarging the internal queue will only help if the overload is
temporary. If the overload is constant, a larger queue will eventually
    also be overloaded.
    ===========================================================
Can you please tell me how to proceed.
    Best Regards,
    Pratyusha

    Solution is here:
412065 - Incorrect output sequence of output requests
    Reason and Prerequisites
The following messages appear in the developer trace (dev_trc) of the SPO processes or in the syslog:
    S  *** ERROR => overflow of internal job queue [rspowunx.c   788]
    Syslog Message FBU:
Internal job queue for synchronous request processing of output requests full
The "request processing sequence compliance" on a spool server with several SPO processes only works provided the server-internal job queue (see Note 118057) does not overflow. The size of this request queue is prepared using the rspo/global_shm/job_list profile parameter. The default value is 50 requests. However, if more output requests arrive for the spool server than can be processed (and the internal request queue is full as a result), more SPO processes are used to process the requests (in parallel), and the output sequence of the requests is no longer guaranteed.
    Solution
Increase the rspo/global_shm/job_list profile parameter to a much larger value. Unfortunately, the value actually required cannot be found by "trial and error" because this queue contains all the incoming output requests on a spool server, not just the "sequence compliant" requests. A practical lower limit for this value represents the maximum sequence-compliant output requests for the above generated output device. If, for example, 1000 documents that should be output in sequence are issued from an application program to an output device, the queue must be able to hold 1000 entries so that it does not overflow if the SPO process processes the requests at a maximum low-speed.

  • Err:Internal Job Queue full for synchronous processing of print requests

    Hi,
We are getting a lot of errors in system log with the
    error :
Internal Job Queue full for synchronous processing of print requests.
    User :SAPSYS
    MNO:FBU.
When we check the document in syslog it states it can be solved by reducing the print load or increasing performance or if there is a connection problem to host spooler , by improving the transfer of data to host spooler..
But not by increasing the no of spool workprocess..
I think any of the one stated cannot be implemented ..
Pls provide your valuable answers and if any of the above can be implemented from your end..
    Regds,
    Satyanarayana N

    Hi Vamshi,
Thanks for your response but would also like to confirm how we can say that spool queue is full and what may be the Max size of spool queue..
When we say Internal queue is full does it mean spool queue...
And also when I run the TEmse consistency check it is giving some errors..
When I check Spool requests there are some waiting process, but when I check Output requests there are only 1 or 2..
Please provide  me your valuable solution regd this..

  • Got a new MBP and old external hard drive is too full for backup

I just got a new MBP and got all my data migrated and everything. I plugged my external hard drive in to run a backup, and it apparently is too full to run a backup of the new computer.  Even though all the files are the same (mostly), I guess it's not going to overwrite anything because it's a new computer.  Should I just get a new backup drive and start fresh for this computer.  Should I reformat my old backup drive (and if so, how?)?  Advice?

You should always have two backups of all vital data in any regard. A good 1TB Toshiba USB is $65
If there is NOTHING on the external HD you cant lose, format in disk utility > erase > format MAC OSX extended journaled.
then apply a Time Machine backup to the old HD of your new computer. That will free of a great deal of space.
However you should still have a 2nd backup of data.  2 backups is 1, and 1 is none.

  • HT4847 iCloud too full for back up

What is getting backed up to the icloud? Photo stream? albums? camera roll? My phone hasn't backed up in weeks because it says I have no more room. I'm sure it's pictures, but I don't know how to free up room without losing them and still be able to keep them on my devices. i'm confused about what the difference is between photo stream and camera roll, I guess, and where I should be storing photos to keep my iCloud capacity free enough to allow backup. Thanks

Your iCloud backup includes camera roll photos, but not photo stream photos.  You can see how much room they are taking in your backup by going to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap your device under Backups, then look at Camera Roll under Backup Options.
To back up your photos and keep them on your device without having them included in your iCloud backup, import them to your computer, then delete them from your camera roll as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.  Then sync them back to your devices using iTunes by selecting them on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing.  They will appear on your phone in the Photo Library album.  Photo Library photos are not included in the iCloud backup (because these photos are already backed up on your computer) so they won't take up any space in your iCloud account.
The other option is to just turn Camera Roll to Off under Backup Options to exclude it from the backup.  However, if you do this, you'll have to be careful to continually import them to your computer so they are backed up.

I dropped my mac pro. The disc drive plays but will not record. medium drive error. How hard is it to replace the drive my self. i see screws on the bottom. Could I just order a new internal drive and replace it? Or is it too complicated for the average person? Would be cheaper to buy an external drive than to replace internal one? Any advice is appreciated

How certain are you the superdrive ONLY is at fault?
That depends on your skill level, if you grew up tearing things apart and putting them together, its absurd how easy it is.
For some however its too daunting.   On a general skill level for the "average" person its about a 3 out of 10 in difficulty.
    Can you order same? yes.

  • Java.sql.SQLException:ORA-01801:date format is too long for internal buffer

    Hi,
I am getting the following exception when i trying to insert data in to a table through a stored procedure.
oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAException: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01801: date format is too long for internal buffer
when execute this stored procedure from ana anonymous block , it gets executed successfully, but i use a OracleCallableStatement to execute the procedure i am getting this error.
Please let me know how to resolve this error.
Is this error something to do with the Database Configuration ?
    Thanks & Regards
    Meenal

I don't know if this will help, but we were getting this error in several of the standard OA framework pages and after much pain and aggravation it was determined that visiting the Sourcing Home Page was changing the timezone. For most pages this just changed the timezone that dates were displayed in, but some had this ORA-01801 error and some others had an ORA-01830 error (date format picture ends before converting entire input string). Unfortunately, if you are not using Sourcing at your site, this probably won't help, but if you are, have a look at patch # 4519817.
Note that to get the same error, try the following query (I got this error in 9.2.0.5 and 10.1.0.3):
    select to_date('10-Mar-2006', 'DD-Mon-YYYY________________________________________________HH24:MI:SS') from dual;
It appears that you can't have a date format that is longer than 68 characters.

  • 500 Internal Server Error OracleJSP: code too large for try statement catch

We have an application which uses JSPs as front end and we are using Struts 1.1. When we run one of the JSP it shows the following error after executing .We are using OCJ4 server having version 9.0.4.0
    500 Internal Server Error
    OracleJSP: oracle.jsp.provider.JspCompileException:

    code too large public void _jspService(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws java.io.IOException, ServletException {
The JSP/application runs okay on one machine (System Tesing machine)with OCJ4 server having version10.1.2.0 but throughs an error on other machine( Development machine)with OCJ4 server having version9.0.4.0.The question is why it is running on one machine ane giving error on other machine I am aware that there can't be more than 64kB of code between try-catch block .Total size of the generated JSP class in our case is 577KB.
Is the problem because of different version of Application server OC4J?.Is it any fix for this? Or Can anyone please suggest a work around. Or is there a method by which the JSP generated code is split between different try - catch blocks rather than a single try-catch block.Utlimately We don't know the whether is it a problem with JVM or hardware .
It would be really helpful if you would provide me with some suggestion and input.
    Regards
    Shyam

    Sir,
I am aware of the limitations of JVM that it won't allow java code more than 64Kb in method but we are using different versions of Application server .Application is working okay with OC4J application server(10.1.2.0) but gives error on Application server with version 9.0.4.0. Is this a problem with OC4J application server 9.0.4.0. I had gone through the documentation ofOC4J 9.0.4.0.application server but it does not mention about the this bug/fixes.
Please giude me on the same.

  • Using CRM opportunities for recording internal project bids - pros/cons?

We use CRM Opportunities for recording project pursuit of externally funded projects and it works well for this. We have one sales cycle with associated statuses and phases.
I am considering using Opportunities to record bids for internal projects and funding as this also goes through an approval process. I think an alternative sales cycle with different phases and status may be needed as the transaction is currently highly tailored for external needs.
Alternatively to use another version of Opportunities with a different field selection. I'd be interested in views or lessons from your own experience

Your system will likely fit just fine on a small fast 250GB SSD
What you have is lots of stuff that should not be on the boot drive, data and graphics or media files and libraries that should be moved to another drive.
If you are getting a message like this, STOP, off load files, make room, and make sure to have 15% free or more.
Do not try to move anything from system and its library and sub folders. Move your home user account and just leave the essential home library but move all the rest.
A full drive can have trouble finding free space segments and writing out updates to files and to the directory. And loss of directory means loss of where files are located and their segments.
