Is my iPhone 5 4g ready

Hmm, I read it depends on your network.
Are you US or UK?
In the UK apparently only the network EE has the bandwidth to supply 4G to an iPhone 5.
The 5s and 5c can access 4G on the other networks (ie Vodafone and O2).
Source: Well, I was just told by my provider that I cannot have 4G on my iPhone 5 despite them saying yes a couple of days ago and sending me a new sim...

  • Getting Iphone 4 ready vs Mac OS X

I want to get my new Iphone ready but I cannot download the latest version because I have on my IMac OS 10.4.11

You will have to update your computer to OS X 10.5.8 or greater in order to update iTunes to 10.0 or greater. That is the only way you can update your phone on your computer.

  • Iphone on Ready-to-be-locked state

Hi, I'm trying to unlock my iPhone 4S with Fido (without success).
I just got a reply from them saying that my iPhone is on "ready-to-be-locked" state and I should contact apple.
How should I proceed? Any advise?
    regards

    Hi Pogster,
Thanks for your reply. I'm trying to unlock my phone since July 7th, they just sent me the following e-mail.
I just got a reply from our network support team and I’m told that your device is not locked to any provider, it’s on a ready-to-be-locked state. Cases as such must go through Apple directly as we are unable to unlocked such devices.
I apologize for the trouble this causes and thank you for your understanding.
    Regards,
    Any advise?
    Thanks

  • How do I get my iphone 4S ready for traveling abroad (from Canada to Mexico)?

I want to use free wifi at the hotel and that's it. Do I turn off data roaming and 3G and then put into airplane mode? Then connect to wifi when it is available? I do not want to incur any extra costs!  Thanks!

Airplane mode powers off all radios completely.  If you then selectively turn on just the wifi radio, the cellular radio remains completely powered off - no cellular voice or cellular data connection of any kind is possible until you disable airplane mode and the cellular radio is powered back on.

  • IPhone 5 says "No Service" after unlock

    Hello,
I recently bought a secondhand iPhone 5 from my girlfriend which was locked to the Vodafone UK network. I'm currently with Virgin Mobile UK so I looked into getting the iPhone unlocked to use with my current SIM.
I came across a seller on eBay who unlocks iPhones and has very good reviews, so I purchased an unlock request through them. Yesterday morning I received a message from the seller informing me that the iPhone was ready to be unlocked and gave me instructions on how to complete the process.
When I connected the iPhone to iTunes, I was greeted with the "Congratulations, your iPhone has been unlocked" message. However, when it comes to inserting a SIM from a different network, it just says "No Service" in the top left of the screen.
I've seen quite a number of threads about this issue and I've tried several different methods of resolving it. I have tried:
Trying multiple SIM cards (it will work with the Vodafone SIM I have but not with ones for other networks)
    Toggling Airplane Mode on/off
    Resetting the network settings
    Erased all content and settings
Restored the iPhone via iTunes (iTunes is up-to-date)
I'm quite stuck on what to do now. I've contacted the seller who's assured me that the phone is unlocked and send me a "GSX Report" (whatever that is). Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks

Just wanted to give an update on this for those who may be experiencing the same problem.
I spoke to someone from Apple a few days ago who tried to help me resolve this. They confirmed that the phone was unlocked. After going through some of the fixes I've tried already, they suggested it may be a problem with the SIM cards I was using and recommended getting a brand new one to try.
I got my new nano SIM through from Virgin Mobile yesterday, transferred my number and contract across and now it's all working perfectly.
I'm not really sure why people on here were so reluctant to give me advice on what to do. When I told Apple that I got the iPhone unlocked through an eBay retailer, they didn't question it at all. They said nothing about it being hacked or that I should have gone through the carrier, and they assured me that the phone was completely unlocked.
Oh well. I'm glad it's working now. Thanks Apple!

Your iPhone is not recognized by iPhoto or by the Image Capture application on your Mac?

  • How to recover photos, video and notes from iphone 3G?

    Hi
I just tried to back up my iphone from the last couple of weeks and it crashed while syncing and now says I need to restore factory settings.  When connected by USB to my MacBook Pro it says
"iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes".
It then says I will lose all my media etc if I restore settings - but I'm hoping there's a way to retreive the media before I do this or after I've done it.  Can anyone help.   I've just been upgraded so I have an iphone 4 ready to go on my desk - this was just my last back up before I swapped over.
    Thanks for help

Restore the device from your iTunes or iCloud backup.

  • Does BB care that customers are unhappy about the iPhone 5 pre-order process? Should they?

It is obvious that there are more than a few customers who are unhappy with the iPhone 5 pre-order process. In my case I was unhappy with it. BB kept pointing the finger at Apple. It is well documented in the press that Apple has redirected supply to Apple customers then to phone companies. So, although still unhappy, I was buying BB's explanation.
Fast forward to this past Saturday. I received an email that my iPhone is ready for pick up. Due to prior commitments over the weekend I planned on picking up the phone on Monday. On Sunday I get an email stating that if I don't pick up my phone by Tuesday my preorder would be canceled. I gave it no thought. This morning (Monday) I got a reminder email. Still everything is good, because I'm going to pick it up today.
I walked into the store seconds after the door was unlocked. I hand my paperwork to the salesman in the mobile department. He asked me if I had received a phone call. I said no. He said there was no iphone for me. I showed him the emails on my phone. The net result is that I do not yet have my iphone. I am expecting someone at BB to blame the emails on Apple.
Does BB care about the fact that there are disgruntled customers? Should they? They no longer have any brick and mortar competitors. Since they have a monopoly in most markets, should they even bother to care? Caring would probably eat into their profits.

They absolutely should care.  The thing about the iPhone is that it is a product that makes a large splash.  People can instantly talk about it since it is statistically a good ice breaker.  One of the first things I talk about when I discuss my iPhone with other's is where to buy it and I have not recommended Best Buy for the way they have handled this exact scenario.  When they found out what had happend they could have at the very least offered to price match Walmart for the 16GB version.
As far as the competition is concerned.  I say that I will be purchasing the more costly electronics online or Costco.  I am through with Best Buy.  I will stop in periodically and "play" with the item's I am interested in purchasing but no longer will I buy from them.
By blaming Apple for this and given that Apple has done this to them in the past, I can only wonder how they did not see this coming.  If I were in a situation where I knew the supplier would even consider Shorting me on supply I would demand a written and legally binding statement by that supplier that I would not get stiffed for the devices.  It only makes sense that if you have a contract to sell then you have a contract to secure your supply.
If this contract existed we would be hearing about a lawsuit against Apple by Best Buy but they don't have this agreement so they just look amature and naiive.
Good luck to you in getting your phone.  I simply walked into an Apple Store in Cupertino CA on 09/21/12 at 5PM and walked out by 5:30PM with all my contacts and email set up.

  • Buying a factory unlocked iphone from US(Apple Store) to use in india.

Hi one of my friend is bringing me an iphone 5s to India.. yayy
it would be factory unlocked and will be purchased from apple store.
my primary concerns are do i need to activate iphone via itunes(or is it ready to use).
And do i need to have a backup file of an iphone(for first time activation) . Because this is my first iphone and i do not have an iphone backup file.
But i do have an ipad. Will the ipad backup work to restore(for activation)
Or is it that iphone is ready to use out of the box?

    Hi Kushalroxx
You can use the device normally in India just bear in mind that if the device need a repair for any reason the phone can only be set up to repair in a US Apple Retail Store or Authorised Reseller.
You can still contact Indian Apple Care line at (91) 1800 4250 744 for phone support, but setting up to repair require the phone to be serviced in the country of purchase.

  • Can I upgrade a deactivated iPhone 4 to IOS 5?

I was on vacation last week and was using my iPhone 4 on the trip.  Then on Friday, I was lucky enough to find an Apple Store with plenty of 4s phones in stock so I bought one.  Everything is working fine with the new phone and now I want to get my old iPhone 4 ready to sell.  However, I still have a lot of photos and video from the trip that I want to download before wiping out all my personal stuff.  I also want to upgrade the phone to IOS 5 since I figure that having the latest OS will be appealing to buyers.
So now that I'm home, will I be able to sync the old iPhone 4 to my iTunes on my PC to download the photos and do the IOS upgrade without messing anything up?  Since the SIM card was deactivated at the Apple Store when they transferred my phone # to the new phone, will iTunes try to reactivate it again?  I've never tried anything like this before so I'm a little apprehensive.

Here are few ways you can do:
    1. If your iphone 4 still has the old deactivated micro-sim card, all you need to do is put your iphone into airplane mode (if not that is), and proceed to update your iphone 4 to iOS 5 and be able to transfer your stuff to your pc. Simply just connect your iphone 4 to your itunes.
    2. Another way to do it is remove the working sim card on your iphone 4S, and put that into your iphone 4 and do the same step as #1 (connect to itunes, update and transfer). Once complete, you can then move your workign sim card back to your iphone 4S.

  • What is likely to be supported longer by Apple, iPod 5g or iPhone 4S?

I'm trying to decide if it is better to give my daughter my 4s or buy a new iPod 5g for her. My iPhone is ready to be up graded, so the cost is basically a wash as I would get a new phone and could get trade- in value for the 4s. I just don't know if it would better from a support view to go one way or the other.  Cost to give her the 4s = roughly $300 for phone (I'd upgrade to the 32G phone).  Cost to get her a new iPod = $300 for phone - $200 for trade-in value of 4s + $220 for new iPod = roughly $320.  I understand taxes and other charges abound!  Main question, should I fear one or the other not being supported by apple anytime soon or one before the other?  Thanks!

In the past it seems that iOS update were stopped based maily on memory avaialbe and then on CPU/GPU performance. Sine the iPhone 4S and 5G iPod both have the same 512 MB opf memory they may both be limited to the same IOS cutoff.  However, the 5G iPod has a larger screen/more pixals and memory is shared between operating system and screen. Thus, the iPod may be limited forst. This was the case for the iPad 1. and the 4G iPod. Both have the same processor and memory (256 MB) but the iPad's larger screen/more pixals limits the amount to memory for the operation system. The iPad was stopped at iOS 5.1.1 wheil the 4G iPod stopped at 6.1.5

  • IPhone 5s selling scam

Me and some of my friends  bought new iphone 5s's from local electronic store in Kuwait  and after opening the binding and unboxing, we turned iphone power ON and we were surpurised the iphone was ready to use with out going through the activation phases and settings or asking us to insert the SIM card .
After that we went to Apple site to check the service and support coverage and entering the IMEI number for the iphone we were surpurised the warranty expiration date ended less than one year from the date we purchased the iPhone approximately  eleven months !!!
We live in Kuwait and there is no Apple store or offices that we can get the right service or support!

Are you saying the phone was originally purchased 11 months ago? It was only introduced in September.

  • Chargers aren't working well for my iPhone.

Here recently my charger(s) have been malfunctioning. It won't charge in certain angles that the phone is laying or the way I
Hold it. It will be charging and if I move the phone just a hair in some cases it will stop charging.
    Help?

There are two posibillities i could imagine: first your iphone is ready for warranty because your lightning box is broken or second your cable is broken.

  • IPhone app submission date?

Has anyone attending WWDC gotten any indication of when we should have our iPhone apps ready?
    Thanks.

Those of us at WWDC are under a NDA and can't really give out detailed information. Obviously getting into the program is the first step. I can tell you that quite a few apps have already been submitted though so if one is in the program I would submit ASAP if you want a chance of being there for the date the store goes live.

Will Iphone and the calenar in Windows Vista ever be able to synce? or will Iphone continue to make you use Outlook?

My real dissappointment is with Apple Support...they should be more upfront on an issue this big...just say it...the iPhone calendar will only sync with Outlook 2003 & 2007 but NOT with its Vista successor "windows calendar".
They do say it. From the iPhone Get Ready page:
+iPhone uses iTunes to sync with the calendar application you already use on your computer — iCal or Entourage on the Mac, or Outlook on a PC+
    http://www.apple.com/iphone/easysetup/getready.html
    No mention of Windows Calendar.
