Is my ipod that old?
I have a second generation iPod touch, 8gb. Is it just that old that I cant update it? I have games on it from a couple of years ago as well as music but thats about it. Can I trade it in with apple or what should I do? I mean I can just use it for music otherwise, its useless. The apps on it dont stay open for more than a couple of minutes and I cant download anything because itunes or the app store wont open.
That's just wonderful… I have an ipod given when I purchased my second Mac after first one failed when 1tb Seagate hard drive took a crap. Now I find out that the second Mac needs hard drive replaced because too or it may take a crap. So now I find out that my three year old ipod is nothing but a paperweight!? My son tried to use it for school and it will not support any apps. I have a two year old $600 ipad that is giving me problems with not supporting apps. You know how I found out? I updated my kindle reader as advised and now I cant even get to the 200 books i purchased. Kindle fire is much more affordable if this is how it works!

I have an old Ipod that won't show up on Windows Explorer but shows in Itunes., I have an old Ipod that won't show up on Windows Explorer but shows in Itunes.
In iTunes, select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES. Over to the right, go to the Summary tab.
There should be a checkbox that says Enable disk use. Check it and Apply the change. It should now appear in Windows, when the iPod is connected.
NOTE: When Disk Use is enable, you have to eject the iPod (in iTunes) before physically disconnecting it from computer. -
If I create a new apple id account on my ipod, will I still have all my music, apps, books and other stuff on my ipod that I downloaded and bought with my old account or will I loose everything; will I be able to still do the updates to those apps?
I really need help!I don't think you understood what I wrote. You don't HAVE to pay for everything if you are happy with using the other account for updates, etc. But if you don't want to do that then you will have to buy new copies of everything for the new account. There's only one purchase item per account, but you can redownload an item in the account many times.
The idea is this:
One computer, multiple devices, one Apple ID.
One user, multiple devices, one Apple ID.
The basic idea is that each user has an Apple ID under which he/she can manage multiple devices on a single computer.
Once you step outside of that model you create such problems as not being able to use or update apps purchase under one Apple ID when using a different Apple ID. Or not being able to easily sync one device on more than one computer. -
I have found my old ipod that I would like to sync to a different itunes account that it was not set up, how do i sync it to my current account. The old account information is lost and do not have it
If you used automatic syncing, an iPod syncs with an iTunes library, not to an account, such as your iTunes Store account (Apple ID). So, if you still have the same iTunes library, it should still work with that library, even if you no longer have access to an "account."
However, it can only sync with one iTunes library at a time. If it is currently set up to sync to an iTunes library that you no longer, you can set it up to sync to your current iTunes library. But when you do that, the iPod's existing content is replaced by content from that iTunes library.
If that iPod was previously set up using the Manually manage music setting (you dragged songs to it in iTunes to load it), instead of automatic syncing, it is NOT syncing to a particular iTunes library. In that case, you can add new items to it from your current iTunes library. But you cannot set up automatic syncing without replacing its existing content.
You can post back to clarify your situation, and what you ideally want to do. -

Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Or maybe:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I have a Ipod that has my personal music on it from a previous computer. I would like to sync the music from the Ipod to my new computer. How can I do this?
The music sync is one way - computer to ipod/iphone. The exception is itunes purchases: File>Transfer Purchases
Use your backup copy of your old comptuer to put everything on the new one. -
I have an old iPod that has all of my music and use my personal computer to keep iTunes on and store all of my music. Recently my old computer died and had to get a new computer. I got my iTunes restores on my new computer and see all of my music, but when I tried to sync up my old iPod (love it!), I ended up erasing all of my playlist. In my "manage my device" I see my iPhone, my iPad, but I do not see my iPod. How can I add my iPod to "my manage my Devices" and get it synced up? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
BTW - Somehow I was able to restore my iPod back to Factory Settings. There are lots of ideas floating on the web for this particular issue - all of which I tried. I had the same problem and it turned out to be my USB cable. I thought the cable was fine as it would charge my phone and play but the data transfer pin was bent. I replaced the cable and it fixed the problem. Worth a shot as it is an easy fix!

I have an ipod that is synced with an old PC, and now I have a Mac and I want the ipod to sync the photos on it with the Itunes on my Mac, but it says it was synced with another ipod. How can I accomplish this?
Is it the same user/iTunes account or...?
Syncing to a new computer should give you the opportunity to replace the exisiting contents with the new. -
I have an Ipod that is about a year old which was connected to an old computer that has crashed. I just downloaded itunes on a new computer, hoping to download my music from my ipod, but it won't let me. Any ideas how to sync them?

how do i transfer music from my old ipod, thats not authorized on my laptop, to my new ipod?
if you bought from Apple see this

if from 3rd party you have to put songs on computer and sync from itunes. Apple doesnt support syncing from ios to itunes so you will have to already have the songs on pc.

I have a ipod that had photos synchronised to an old computer that has sinced crashed and the data can not be recovered. How do I recover the photos stored on the IPOD to my new computer?
You'll likely need the assistance of some sort of 3rd party software. Keep in mind that the photos on your iPod are only scaled down thumbnail versions of the originals. So even if you do manage to copy them backt to your PC, they will not be in their full original resolution.
Do a simple Google search for "copy photos from ipod" and you should get a number of hits that can assist you.

In iTunes, how do I switch to an Ipod nano from and old ipod that doesn't work any more
in iTunes on your computer, how do I switch to an Ipod nano from and old ipod that doesn't work any more? It has all the folders and songs I had on my old ipod, but does not recognize my ipod nano and cannot sync with it?
Hi bob12345S,
If your iPod nano does not appear in iTunes when connected to your computer, you may want to troubleshoot using the steps on this page -

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

I found my old iPod that I haven't used since about 2010, and I no longer have the computer that the library was synced with. Is there any way to get my music off of it so that I can put it on my new iPod? The old one is a 30 GB from 2005.
CS2 is very old and reached its "end of life" a while back. So probably won't run on modern operating systems. If you can still run it, you'll need to uninstall what you have and re-install with the download link below to activate it.

When attempting to purchase a song from i-tunes that was on an old ipod that I had to replace, the song is marked as 'purchased' and grayed out. Is there a way that I can download these previously purchased items onto my new ipod?
Lori,
If you upgrade to iTunes 10.3, you can redownload your past purchases from the iCloud. Just go to the home page of the iTunes Store and click on "Purchased" under "Quick Links." It will bring up a list of your past purchases that are not currently in your library, with a little arrow icon that lets you download.
