Is my ipod totally gone?

Alright so, I have an 80gb iPod classic it's almost five years old and it's been working completely fine the whole time until the last couple of days. I noticed it was doing weird things, and acting really slow and freezing up and having lots of glitches not playing any music, and when I restarted it most of the time it would say pick a language and I would pick English and then it would go back to normal, but the freezing up and glitching didn't stop it still continued. Then I restarted it again same thing, and I had the clicking sound turned off before and then it all of a sudden turned on, and still the freezing up not playing music and glitching still continued. So then I starting typing out all the songs and stuff that I don't have on my computer so I could download them later for the new ipod I am going to get tomorrow. So then I thought it would be easier if I connected it to the computer, so I connected it and it wouldn't connect to the computer. So I restarted it again, still nothing. Then I left it on the screen for a while and it was stuck on the logo for quite some time, then after twenty mintues it came on, and all my music was deleted. Everything is gone. So then I restarted it again, and now it's stuck on the logo again and won't turn on. I looked up some more stuff on the computer to figure out how to fix it. I've done a diagnosis to figure out what the Smart Data is of my hard drive and this is what the results were.

Pending Sectors: 5
Power On Hours: 0
Start/Stops: 22
Temp Current: 27c
Temp min: 24c
Temp max: 30c
From what I've read these results look bad.
I did a second test to see if any of the numbers changed at all and the only thing that changed was the Retacts and that number it changed to was 25.
Everything else was the same.
I also went to do a auto test for SDRAM Quickscan.
Everything was working fine until I got to the usb and fw part. The usb works fine, but I don't have a firewire cable at all my ipod did not come with that cable at all, so I don't understand why it's showing up, and I don't have that kind of cable in the house at all. So I am unable to continue with the test.
And I've tried restarting and connecting it to the computer and it just won't turn on, I've tried putting it into disk mode and connecting it to the computer too, but that also will not work. It is stuck on the apple logo, and still is right now.
So my question is what the **** is going on with this ipod, is it completely done?
Am I able to get my files back? Am I able to do anything to connect it to the computer?
The biggest thing is getting my files that's the only thing that I'm trying to do so I can write them all down for my new ipod.
I'm planning to go out and buy a new ipod touch tomorrow but if there's anything anyone can do to help me with this issue I would really appreciate you telling me my solution to my problem. Thanks so much guys, sorry that this is so much to read but I for sure need someone's help.

See Corrupt iPod classic. 5 pending sectors isn't really too bad, but if they hold a directory or part of the iPod's database then you're in trouble. The first link should you give you a chance to rescue the data that isn't stored anywhere else. Once done use the DFU restore method.
