Is my JVM capable of checking out countable options?

or does it depend on the computer it self?
hi,
I've written a program that needs to check out numerous options to arrange 1024 values in a matrix of 32*32. It doesn't need storage room for more than that, but it does go through the process of checking out countless options. (It's for physics needs).
I've used a rather primitive version of Java, a tutorial version "Forte4Java" with JDK 1.2.2, given to me in a SUN course a few years back.
Assuming the program itself is valid (and there's basis for that assumption) why does it get stuck? is it because I need a different version of JVM? or is it a computer dependent thing? maybe I need a faster, more capable CPU?
any advice is most needed, and urgently so,
so I'll appreciate any help,
thank you

In fact, I've been trying to eliminate options and now it's 1E76*964! options...Okay, so, do the math. If you can do 1e9 operations per second, how long will it take to process the whole thing.
But my question is: Does it really take the JVM 1nanosecond to check each option? That depends on a lot of things. How fast your CPU is, how many machine operations a single test takes, what else is going on on your machine.
Note that I didn't say that one test will take 1 nanosecond. I said even if it can go that fast. Most consumer grade PCs in operation today have a CPU clock speed of 1-4 GHz, so one operation per nanosecond is a convenient upper bound estimate for how fast it can process.

New to the forums, new to Dreamweaver. I was recently hired
to manage a small companies web site. They use Dreamweaver MX. I
have hardly used Dreamweaver but its generally simple to catch on
to. My boss lives in another state so we communicate via emails and
phone calls. He currently manages the websites which I am taking
over. He will still poke into the site off and on and we are trying
to find a way to not overwrite each others files.
I noticed the check in and out from remote and have been
looking for more information on how it works and how to use it
along with any issues we might have. It seems pretty straight
forward but we are looking for some sort of documentation to see if
it is what we need to use. I work on the site during the day and he
works on it at night so I dont think it will be too much of an
issue but on those rare occassions we want to know what will be
    best.
If I modify a file during the day whats to say he has or gets
my current file then modifies it rather than me making changes and
uploading it then he makes changes then uploads it then finds that
a newer file exists so he would have to update the file then make
changes to it after wasting that time and effort.
Hope this makes sense, looking for information and feedback.
    Thanks!

When you check a file out for modification, it then lives
    ONLY on your local
site. Nobody else can check it out to edit until you check it
    back in.
It's primitive but it can work if you can tolerate the
    overhead of checkin
    and checkout.

  • Editing XMP metadata in Bridge for checked-out files?

Our custom connector does not implement the WRITE_XMP_METADATA Capability because we do not want to change the XMP of a file in our DAM system without checking in a new file version.
However, when a file is checked out through Adobe Drive, we would expect to be able to edit its XMP metadata in Bridge just like we can for local files.
It looks like this is still not possible with Adobe Drive 3, i.e. if your connector does not implement the WRITE_XMP_METADATA Capability you cannot edit XMP for checked out files either.
It seems weird that you can edit XMP metadata for checked out files with regular CS applications but not with Bridge. Is this something that is expected to be fixed in a future version?
    Thanks

In our design, editing XMP data in Bridge and in regular CS applications is different, the former one will be routed to SetXMPHandler in you connector, in the latter case, CS applications take the normal file writting ways to embed XMP data in the file content.
The purpose of this design is to offer similar user experience for normal users when they edit XMP data for AD assets and local file assets, they don't need to check-out files first.
To address your issue, I think you can add some codes in SetXMPHandler to auto check-out files before real XMP operation, and check-in them before exiting the handler
We will consider to make some enhancements for this part, that's, to allow editng XMP data for the checked-out files in Br, in the next release, thanks for this advice.

  • Checking Out MSI's N680GTX TwinFrozr III 2GD5/OC

The nice thing about the MSI N680GTX TwinFrozr III 2GD5/OC is the high clocks you get out of the box. Speed is pre-overclocked from 1006MHz Core to 1058MHz with a turbo boost as high as 1.1GHz. Aside from this, the card is equipped with a very nice and silent Twin Frozr III cooler.   With this, you could still push the N680GTX clocks higher while keeping down the temps and worry not of component overheat.
The card is equipped with Solid Capacitors which lasts up to 10 years, better efficiency, lower temperature and no cap explosion.
MSI Afterburner on the other hand is bundled with the card for software overclocking but I suggest you to download the latest version of it in the internet.
Twin Frozr III cooler with 2x 80mm Propeller Blade Fan Technology which provides 20% more airflow. The aluminium brushed gunmetal color of the TwinFrozrIII heatsink cover looks really cool.
Like all GTX680s, tri-SLI is capable with this SKU/model and additional 2x 6Pins for power. I’m not sure if I mentioned this before but the minimum PSU requirement for the video card is only 550W 30A for the 12V.
I just noticed it now and I’m quite surprised that there are two heatpipes on the top area of the card thus for better heat dissipation.
3x 8mm heatpipes at the bottom area. Check out the solid capacitors - all lined up.
Back area of the card. Very clean and neat.
Just curious about this embedded chip at the back of the card.hmmm…….

Bernhard, how come your graphics shows as the IGD and not the GTX 580? To be somewhat apples and apples comparison, this is what I get without MVP and a reference GTX 680. This is the GTX 680 @ 1006, same mainboard, same RAM speed of 2133, and CPU as the OP. The CPU was running lower than the OP @ 44X to his 48X, but I also note that his VGA bandwidth is 8X and mine was 16X. I can't run MVP as I don't have a monitor that will adapt (or an adapter) to the onboard 15-pin connection. Mode Screen Res. was 1680X1050 (max for my monitor) along with the AA set @ 4X.
Settings make a world of difference. Same except Tessellation is set to 'Disabled'.

  • After userA check out a page, edit the page and save, Sharepoint prompt userA have checked out the page

In one of site collection at our SP2013 farm, we have "SharePoint Server Publishing" site feature and "SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure" site collection feature activated.
One of user (UserA) create a page in a page library. The new page is marked as "checked out by UserA". It is fine.
Then UserA open the page -> edit page -> key in something and "save". Then the page prompt him "The file Pages/subfolder/test001.aspx has been modified by i:0#.w|test\userA on 8Aug2014 xx:xx:xx" and ask him to choose "Leave
this page" or "say at this page".  The date time is exactly the time he was editing the page.
Whatever he choose will save the page and return to "View" mode (non-edit mode).
It is not the only problem. When userA want to edit the same page again and save, it prompt him that "The page could not be saved because your changes conflict with recent changes made by another user. If you continue, your changes will be lost."!
When userA choose continue or "check out". Follow screen show up:
What can we do? In summary, userA cannot edit a page because userA have checked out! We have tried for different users have exactly same issue.

We are having the same problem, the one thing we have found is if we use the Save Icon on the top right hand side of the page in the ribbon (next to follow), that Save works just fine.  What is causing the issue is when trying to use the Save Icon on
the left hand side of the ribbon that has the dropdown options to 'Save', 'Save and Keep Editing' or 'Stop Editing'.  It doesn't matter if you just click on the main Icon or choose any of the dropdown options, they all cause issues with the pages.
    Thoughts?

  • "Unable to Check Out File Error" Message

I'm new to using Adobe products, so forgive me if this is a dumb question! My graphic designer sent me a INDD file to edit the text in and when I try to open it in both InDesign and InCopy, I receive an "Unable to Check Out this File" error message. I just downloaded InDesign CC and InCopy CC (the free trial versions). She said that all settings on her end should allow me to view it. Any help is much appreciated!
    Thank you!

I've just experienced the same error message in CS4. I got rid of it by going to the Links panel, selecting all the links to Incopy, and Unlinking.

  • Items greyed out after upgrading and migrating to Sharepoint 2013 - Open and Check Out + Manage Document Option

    Hi there,
Following a migration to SharePoint 2013, the follow options have been disabled (Open and Check out + Manage) (see below). These are critically important functions and make it very hard to make SharePoint a useable interface. Any guidance on how to resolve
these issues is greatly appreciated. This is not a branded website, and there has been no changes made to the standard interface.
    Kind regards
    Jarrad Koppen

I'm not sure what the easiest way is either.  First, I would try to create a new site collection with a new library and see if you get the same behavior.  If not, then its something in the upgrade process.  If it does that also would point
to something being wrong in the way that javascript is being executed.
If it is happening everywhere I suspect you'll have to start tracing javascript using something like IE developer's toolbar to see why the status on those buttons isn't changing when you select a document.  I'm not sure what else to suggest.

  • Time evaluation generate check out entry

    Dear Gurus,
How can we generate Check out entries thru Time evaluation?
The sales employees come to office in the morning, they punch in and leave for sales activity. They don't get overtime, but pay / absence quota deducted if they don't check in in the system.
While running Time evaluation, I am getting error in TE03 (delimiting error). I hv tried creating second entry using TF00. Its not working. Has anybody any solution for this?
    Regards,
    Vijay

    Hi Gurus,
I am rephrasing my requirements.  have 2 queries,
    1. Sales Employees make only Clock In entries. System should generate the clock out entry or should not throw any error message. System should consider total working time from daily work schedule.
       - TE30 function is generated the entry in TEVEN table based on planned end time, but we need to create the entry in IT2012 otherwise, while processing next days entry, it generates error.
       - Will TF00 create an entry in Time Events IT2051 ? IF yes, how can I tweak TF00 rule to generate Time out entry.
    2. General Staff working hours need to be calculated from Shift Start even if they come early. Max working time is 12 hours with 4hrs from start of end of Shift period
       - If shift start is 7AM, I have defining Start tolerance as 6AM to 7:05AM, but still the system is considering the Clock In time for hours worked.
I have to write this condition. How to write ?
If Clock-in Time < Start Time
          Then   TIP->From = Start Time
I believe it has to be put in TL10 after rounding the Check in & check outs.. so as to update table TIP,
    Please suggest,
    Regards,
    Vijay

One problem I'm having is find the perfect streaming settings for the movies. I did check them on a fast Windows machine and on a brand new Mac at the local CompUSA store. Things worked well on their very fast Internet connection but the longer concept video didn't seem to want to stream. I'm almost thinking to grab some JumpCut or YouTube code and insert it just to get it to work. I know this will put their logos in but I'm just not sure what to do.
One thing I'm aware of and something I did do on purpose is that I made the background images very large -- to accomodate those wealthy folks with the very big, very wide monitors. I wanted never to run out of background "virtual" world no matter how big one stretched the browser window. Also, the necessity to scroll was intentional. Let me know if this is too annoying.
Appreciate any expert helpful comments and feedback on improvements.
    No I won't update to 10.4.9!   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   I said no!

You do not need to be a designer — but you do need to become more design sensitive or 'design mindful'."

  • [SVN] checking out takes ages..

    Hello all,
Do you have the same problem with it? Arch seems to be the only distro I have this problem on. Checking out repositories just takes several minutes. Downloading the files is just as fast as it should be. It's just the initializing part. Maybe svn has too many unneeded dependencies?
    Thanks in advance,

svn works fine for me.  Perhaps you should mess with some 'verbose' flags or something and try to figure out exactly where the bottleneck is.

Had a strange  incident today where two incopy users had story checked out at the same time. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it for myself. I checked the links, they were going to the same place. One user lost his changes when both checked in the story. How could this happen? Looked like maybe the locked file was disappearing for some reason.

Pretty much covered this in the ID forum.

  • Opening/Saving documents from SharePoint 2013 in Firefox/Chrome bypasses Check Out and Check In

My clients have an Office365 installation with SharePoint 2013.
When I navigate to the site in IE and click on a checked-in document, it opens in Microsoft Word with a message
Server document  To modify this document you must check it out
with a Check Out button alongside.
However, if I navigate with Firefox or Chrome and click on the same link, it just downloads the document to the browser's default download location.  If I then open the document in Word, there is no
Server document warning and it is entirely writeable and it's also lost its link to the document library.
Is the work-around for this that one cannot use Firefox or Chrome with SharePoint, or is there some setting in these browsers that will bypass the download and load the document directly into Word?
    Thanks
    Edward

Does anyone have a better fix for this?  We are attempting to launch support for a second browser - Chrome - but because of the issue with Office 2010 on the clients, the protocol handler from Chrome fails to connect the requested document directly
to the MS Office app, but rather downloads the file.  IE Tab is not an option because it then defeats the purpose of having Chrome altogether since it simply uses IE8's engine.  IE8's performance with large lists on SharePoint 2013 as well as the
HTML5-based functionality is simply dreadful which is the primary driver for an alternative browser.
We are aware installing Office 2013 on a machine fixes it, but that is not an option due to the current licensing.
Hope for Chrome 31?  Firefox seems to work fine in our testing, but the organization wants to go Chrome instead of FF.
