My printer died and I need a printer that is compatable with OS 9.1/9.2. Some printers say they are compatible with OS 9.1/9.2 but do they need a driver or is it included with the install disk that comes with the printer?
As long as the printer is accurately described as being compatible with OS 9.1/9.2, if it needs to have software (such as drivers) installed that software should either be included (usual) or downloadable from the net(usually from the manufacyrer's website).
Not all non-Apple printers need drivers installed. Some, such as many Postscript ones that connect via ethernet, are quite comfortable using the LaserWriter 8 printware that's part of OS 9. Some of those, though, may need to have a model-specific PPD (Postscript Printer Description) installed, a small document that informs the printware of the capabilities of the printer. -

i have a mac os x version 10.6.8 is that compatible with CC? koz i cant download it & it tell me: You are running an operating system that Photoshop no longer supports. Refer to the system requirements for a full list of supported platforms.
If you look thru the requirements for the applications you are likely to find 10.6 does not meet the tech specs.

Printers compatible with C4191A printer cartridge
How can I find out which other printer are compatible with cartridge C4191A ?
(This cartridge is for 4500, 4550 but I ended up with ~20 cartridges sitting on my shelf after 4500 series printer died (horrible printer, took forever to warm up). )With the following link you can find the compatible models, looks like only the 4500 series though.

NirmalHi @nirmal007,
Welcome to the HP Support Forum! I understand you're having cartridge issues with your HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 5525 e-All-in-One Printer. I would like to assist you with clearing up that error state and have some troubleshooting steps that may resolve the issue.
I recommend you try the following steps before you consider purchasing a new black ink cartridge. Firstly after you've confirmed that your ink levels are not the problem (example - the level is above 10%), try a 'hard reset':
Secondly:
Make sure that the ink cartridges are properly vented and seated correctly
If the vent on the top of the ink cartridge is clogged or obstructed, the ink cartridge might not work properly. Follow these steps to make sure that the ink cartridges are properly vented and seated correctly.
Press the Power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already turned on. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before continuing.
Open the cartridge access door. The carriage moves to the access area.
Figure : Open the cartridge access door
Press the tab on the front of the cartridge inward to release it, and then pull up on the cartridge to remove it from the slot.
Figure : Remove the cartridge from the slot
Examine the vent area on each cartridge, above the HP logo on the top of the cartridge.
Figure : Vent area on the top of the cartridge
If the cartridge still has the orange pull-tab attached, pull to remove it.
Figure : Orange pull tab
If the vent is clogged, use a straight pin to gently remove excess adhesive from the vent.
Figure : Clean the clogged vent with a pin

With the nozzle and contacts facing down, slide the cartridge into its slot. Press down on the cartridge until it clicks into place.
note:Make sure that each cartridge is installed in the correct slot. Match the shape of the icon and the color of the cartridge with the slot that has the same shaped icon and color.
Figure : Reinsert the cartridge
Repeat these steps to inspect the vents on each of the cartridges.
Make sure that each cartridge is firmly in place in its slot. Run your finger along the top of the cartridges to feel for any that are protruding, and if any are, press down firmly until each cartridge snaps into place.
Close the cartridge access door.
Figure : Close the cartridge access door

Thirdly, try cleaning your cartridge contacts:
Manually cleaning the print cartridge contacts
Follow the steps below to manually clean the print cartridge contacts:
Gather the following items to clean the contacts:
Distilled water (tap water may contain contaminants that can damage the print cartridge)
Cotton swabs or other soft, lint-free material that will not stick to the print cartridge
Open the print cartridge door.
Remove the print cartridge and place it on a piece of paper with the ink nozzle plate facing up.
caution:
Do not to touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzle plate with your fingersFigure : Do not touch copper-colored contacts
caution:Do not leave the print cartridge outside the printer for more than 30 minutes. Ink nozzles exposed to the air longer than this may dry out and cause printing problems.
Lightly moisten a cotton swab with distilled water and squeeze any excess water from the swab.
Gently wipe the copper-colored contacts with the cotton swab.
caution:Do not touch the ink nozzle plate. Touching the ink nozzle plate will result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until no ink residue or dust appears on a clean swab.
Insert the print cartridge in the printer, and then close the print cartridge door.

If you've tried all of the above noted steps and you're still unable to use the black cartridge, you may need to pick up a new one. Let me know if this helps. Best of luck!

This question was solved.
View Solution.Hi Willcarter,
It is all up to you. You can use the phone line which came with the printer or you can get a new one. It does need to be a 2-wire phone line though.

External keyboard that compatible with mac
I'm using macbook pro 13 inch with mountain lion installed in it. I want to use external keyboard because i want to keep a distance between my eyes and the screen. But i want a wired keyboard, and for me I will not choosing wireless keyboard because it use some batteries. Also sometime the bluetooth connection not so good (in some cases i read in the review). I know that apple has its own keyboard but for me the price still expensive for a wired keyboard. So, what is the keyboard that suite with mac? Is it all keyboard including windows type keyboard? Any cheap keyboard compared to apple's one?
Jill,
Boy you hit an old thread. I don't know that zikeryn is still around, so I'll throw my thoughts in here. My first Apple USB Extended keyboard lasted about 1 1/2 years - and the I (stupidly) tried to clean it with a very moist (read WET) micro-fiber cloth and got liquid in the keyboard. My bad, so I can't blame the keyboard. I rushed right out (to Amazon) and purchased another. I love this keyboard - I was lost when I had to go back to using my built-in keyboard. It's sturdy like a brick - it just doesn't like water!
I would urge you to go for it - unlike third-party keyboards that may have drivers, System Preference panes, etc., this on just, as I said, WORKS.
Good luck,

How do I find the photo software that comes with J3608 printer?
I recently bought a computer with Windows 8.1 and downloaded the compatible printer driver for my All-in-One J3608 printer. On my old computer, with Windows XP, when I installed the same printer, it came with a photo program. But the new printer driver either doesn't come with photo program, or I can't seem to find it on my computer. I just want to edit my photos. Does the new printer driver come with a photo program or do I have to download one? Can you help? Thank you.
Hi Quinty66,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see that you are having trouble editing photos, I am glad to help you with this issue.
I would try the following steps:
1.) Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
2.) Use the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows, for the re-install.
See if that installs the photo program for you, otherwise try the software on another Windows XP machine. If it works on XP and not on Windows 8.1, then that means, that is the only software available for Windows 8.1.
Hope to hear back, and have a great day!

I just purchase an iMac and an HP LaserJet M1217nfw printer. I could not install with the installation disk that was furnished by HP. This is my first Mac product and I'm just not sure what I'm doing...help! I don't know if it's a mountain lion, a tiger, or a dog! The box says OS X. I really need help. Thanks for your time.
What Mac operating system are you running on your iMac?
Are you certain they're compatible?
Have you checked with HP to see if there's a newer driver?
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=4 075472
In addition, I haven't loaded on any software with my last 3 printers. They just work without them, IMHO.
But a current driver would be necessary. -

Thank you for clarifying your printers model for me!
I would suggest checking and trying all of these steps first: Troubleshooting Print Quality Issues
If you notice the test prints including black, then this might be a software issue, and if that's the case, try these steps on your Mac:
Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
Repair disk permissions
Restart the Mac
Install the printer : OS X v10.9 Mavericks: Installing and Using the Printer on a Mac
If the troubleshooting does not help at all, I would lastly suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you, such as a replacement or trade in.

Saving animation as a GIF thats compatible with serif webplus
this is my first ever experiment with photoshop so apologies in advanced.
basically i have created an animation on AE, of a welder welding with sparks playing. its also on a transparent background. I have managed to learn how to render the video to get it onto photoshop, but ive reached a dead end as i dont know what to do next.
in photoshop, I keep going to save as a GIF but it keeps saving as a picture. how do I get it working as a GIF?
many thanksFirst it is way easier to save as a gif in AE, the render queue can select Animation Gif as an option.
Second you need to open the animation panel {Windows>Animation} Look for a small icon in the upper right hand corner. A menu will pop up. Two things you need to do,
1)Assuming the animation panel is in timeline mode, in that menu select Conver to frame animation
2)In that menu you need to choose layers to Make frame from layers.
In the animation panel Select all of the frame and change the frame rate. The first frame would have a rating, and the remainder would be set to zero, this is not what you want, you want the all of the frames to have an equal time rate for a normal animation, exceptions are stop frames, etc. You may need to experiment to get the rate just right or do a bit of math. Normal animation for TV is approx. 30 frames per second, so count the number of frame and decide on how long the animation should be and do the math. The frames in frame animation mode are in decimal for fractional seconds.
