Is my Mac an early or mid? Hdmi with audio?

I am going to purchase a 17" MacBook Pro model FC665LL/A
I want to know if I will be able to play both audio and video thru my hdmi output. It mentions it will work with models. If not what are my options?

FC665LL/A is not the order number of any MacBook Pro, as far as I can tell. Give us the Model Identifier instead — that will tell us what it is and what sort of output capabilities it has.

  • I tried to install OS X Mavericks but my Mac Book Pro (of mid-2009 with OS X 10.7.5) crashed

I tried to install OS X Mavericks but my Mac Book Pro (of mid-2009 with OS X 10.7.5) crashed. I had to change the Hard Disk. How can I install OS X Mavericks on my Mac laptop safely without going to another crash? I checked and found that my lap top is eligible for the upgrade to Mavericks. Can't understand what happened. Please help and advise how to do the upgrading. Thanks.

I could not report the crash as my lap top was out of order. So now it's working. Should I report the crash and to whom? Do you have any link for that?

  • Thunderbolt update V1.2 is not supported on my system: Mac Pro 12 Cores (mid 2012) with Mac OSX 10.8.3

I'm trying to connect an external 8 Tera thunderbolt hard drive to my Mac Pro 12 Cores (mid 2012) with Mac OSX 10.8.3, and it is not recognizad, so I tried to make the thunderbolt upgrade V1.2, and a windows appears and says: "this software is not supported on my system"
Please tell me waht to do.
    thanks a lot.

Thunderbolt is a revolutionary I/O technology that supports high-resolution displays andhigh-performance data devices through a single, compact port. It sets new standards for speed, flexibility, and simplicity. And it’s on MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac mini.
I don't see mention of the Mac Pro.

  • MiniDP to HDMI with audio for Imac bought in february

    Hi
I want to know if there is any way I can output videos using HDMI with audio with an Imac bought in februaary 2010? I saw the Moshi cable but apparently it does not support audio for early 2010 macs. Any suggestions or info on this? What could I do?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
as far as I know there seems to be two versions of that Moshi adapter.
An earlier one without audio and a later one with audio support.
But I don't know how to distinguish one form the other. Maybe the Moshi website can offer some hints.
Since Apple lists the later one in the document plus sells it in their own Store I assume they tested it with the various Mac mentioned in that document.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • Mini DVI to HDMI with audio. Where can I find it?

I'm looking for a cable adapter (mini DVI to HDMI with audio) to my mac book air (2010). Where can I find it?

DVI and miniDVI only transmit video-signals but no audio-signal.
Regardless of the cable adapter you get (I don't have any recommendation) you always have to make a audio-cable connection between the MBA and the TV.

  • Did my Mac Pro (early 2009) come shipped with built-in Wi-Fi?

I was pretty sure when I first started using my Mac pro (early 2009) that I had built-in Wi-Fi capabilities. I know for sure I was able to print wirelessly to my Brother HL 2070N B&W laser printer. I have always used Ethernet to my modem for internet mostly because I believe to get a more reliable signal strength. Over the years I have upgraded from the factory OSX to mountain Lion and then to Mavericks and somewhere (not sure exactly when) I have lost any and all Wi-Fi capabilities. Thinking perhaps Mavericks was the problem I have since Downgraded to Mountain Lion. Much to my dismay - after a clean install - It was clear to me Wi-Fi was no longer available. It was shaded during the set-up process after start-up. The Wi-Fi Icon does not show up in the top tool bar on the mac screen and the option for Wi-Fi does not show up in System Network preferences. I even went as far as try to re-install the top toolbar icon via "Library, Core Services, Menu Extras". It now shows a hollow icon when clicked on says "WiFi: no hardware installed".
Is it possible I need a new card installed?
or, could it be something as simple as changing my internal battery? can I do this myself?
I have already tried re-setting SMC. I don't think it worked because I have difficulties with my power button (another problem over the years) in which power & light doesn't always come on right away. It takes several tries and plugging / unplugging USB devises. This has been a whole other issue; perhaps for another discussion.
I have also tried re-setting NVRAM / PRAM.
I have run out of ideas (and USB ports) at this point - could use some expert advise.
    Thank you in advance.

Some info at the above link on various wifi upgrades. If you are having USB issues, maybe the Asus PCIe card would be worth considering. Otherwise, I'd suggest one of their USB adapters (I have two).

  • W510 - DisplayPort to HDMI with Audio

    Hi,
I am wondering if the new Calpella solution in W510 offers DisplayPort to HDMI conversion with audio-support. Is there any information so far regarding this issue?
Would be nice to get some official statement.

  • HOT HOT HOT HOT!!! Mac Book Pro Retina, Mid 2012 with 2 external Displays HOT HOT HOT HOT!!!

    Hi,
i think i have a serious heat problem and i am a bit afraid of melting the mac book (It happend before with an older mac book pro, graphic card melted...yes, it did...)
    i own a Retina, Mid 2012
Processor  2.6 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB
    Software  OS X 10.8.4 (12E55)
in use with 2 external Monitors, one TB Display and one Eizo (27" same resolution as TB) via display port and doing lots of stats with Stata and R on it and it get hot like **** (temperature monitor says around 95-100° degrees on graphic processor diod and around 80° on the chip.
furthermore, it creates kind of random kernel tasks with % CPU usage up to 500% (i read somewhere it does it to keeps internal cooling up...(??) ) and it is getting really slow... almost unusable.
Is this still healthy and the way it should be when i use it with 2 monitors?
Will i ruin it by using it like this all day long?
Apple says it could handle two displays. I think it can`t without killing itself on the long run (if you still USE it)
any ideas what to do? i allready use a cooling pad for it (cheap revoltec) but it does not really help, the macs and the pads fans run like crazy, its pretty noisy and gets really hot anyway
    Any experiences with 2 displays?
is there anything i can do about it?
    Better cooling pad solutions???
    Any other solutions??
    Any ideas welcome
    Thanks & Best
    Franz

Hm, i cannot reproduce the kernel_task thing right now, but this is my temp after working with 2 screens for 10 minutes. is this normal?
100° cpu, 96° on the diode, and 78 on GPU chip? it even was 82 once.
when do i reach critical limits?
    apple?

  • My mac pro early 2009 keeps restarting with an unknown error

CPU will start up and stay in log-in mode with no issues. Once you log in the CPU will stay on for a few minutes and then restart itself for no apparent reason.

Pull the system drive. Or try command R to get into Recovery Mode (or use Option key)
Try your backup clone. If you don't add that to your to do list and for now get out your OS X Install flash drive you saved and made or your DVD if you are on Snow Leopard.
System is one thing. CPU refers only to the processor(s), not the disk drive which sounds to be corrupt, not the gpu which also could be an issue on yoru Mac Pro model (tell us - 2008 3,1 or whatever it is).
Panic or Prohibitory sign could be further hardware issue, or just need to see if it will try with no hard drive and look for "?" a system to boot from.
Reset SMC also in cases like this.

  • Hdmi with audio for MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2009)

    Hi
Have anyone used aa cable to send video and hdmi on this particular model? I'd use a displayport-to-hdmi cable (male-male). but, i've read that this particular model won't send the audio signal over.
    this is my computer: http://support.apple.com/kb/SP541
    thoughts?

Mini display port on that model does not carry audio. To get audio you must also use audio cable as well as hdmi cable.

  • How do I connect a MBP 5.4 to my TV via HDMI WITH Audio

    I got 4 different cables/connectors:
Mini display port to HDMI Adaptor
    HDMI cable
    3.5 mm audio cable
3.5 mm to RCA Audio adaptor
as recommended in this link http://www.macbook2tv.com/
but still get no sound on my TV. Yes, I tryed to change the sound settings but it doesn't show me any other choices than the built-in or headphone?
How do I get the sound to my TV??? Please help!!! THANKS

I make no excuse for the salespeople at the Apple Store (and I don't work for Apple, so my excuses would be lame anyways).  However, you cannot expect them to know everything about everything on the Mac.  It's an obscure point, and if they were hired during the past year, the MDP to HDMI adapter works perfectly.  Think about this:  I use my Mac nearly 24/7, use several programs nearly 24/7, and I barely scratch the surface of this device.  I use an iPhone 24/7, and I hardly ever drop over there, because there's just too many questions about too many obscure issues.
Again, I'm not sure why you're giving up?  This is fixable, it's probably NOT an issue with your Mac or your cables.  It's probably an issues with either 1) input setup of your TV, or 2) older TV with an incompatible HDMI firmware (1.1 say).  You have everything to make this work, so why are you upset with the Apple folks?  You got everything right except the TV setup.

  • Re: Displayport to HDMI with audio

are you serious about " The thread itself morphed into a discussion of what functionality members wish were available.  I realize that you don't like the answer of "no" that the OP got " ??
    look at my post(s)
Let me rephrase the question then
why is it not possible to send out Audio over displayport in W500? why did Lenovo not integrate it or better asked why disabled it as the specs for this chipset clearly allow it ( as you can see on the DELL notebooks).
so , can I open a new thread for that question to get a proper answer? yes? no?
    and/or
or.. let's make it simpler for everyone... point me to a public document on Lenovo´s website where it clearly says it is not supported and we end the discussion here... as long as this is not the case , this whole thread wont just "end" and many other people will keep asking  regarding this.   "
    and/or
Any of the moderators here know if it is possible to get a official statement on the website via Support Incident? I am very interested in this so that other people do not do the same mistake like we did (as stated we bought 10 of these W500s). I would highly appreciate if you can point me to a link or support email.
    need more?
    To summarize:
Yes  I am definitely not happy with the "NO" as answer without further explanation. My aim is to get a official statement on the website so that other customers do not run in to the same issue.
I am an Engineer and I wonder what would happen if I would answer every customer query with NO or YES without further explanation... But that is not part of this topic.
    thanks
    Aydin

Since you are not the OP in the thread, this doesn't change the fact that the answers marked as the solution referred to that person's question(s).

If you do put home folders on a separate volume,  it's strongly recommended that an Admin account and its home folder remain on the Startup volume.  If there isn't one, and you have a problem with the separate home folder volume, you cannot log on to your Mac!  And in some cases it will greatly complicatetransferring to a new Mac.

But I often need to use external monitor to gain control of the OSX boot. It gives tone, shows gray, shows apple and gear the short blue and then strait to black and front LED seems to indicate sleep. Very frustrating. Happens on both use best graphics and conserve battery display settings. Tried the reset pram, safe boot, save boot verbose. All no good.
