Hi I bought a macbook pro just a year ago now and i heard about the java security scare , now my mac is up to date all the time but java wanted me to install a new update but is it now safe to use without the worrys of security ???

Only install Java if you need it, and if you install it, you must keep it updated to the most recent version. OS X Lion and Mountain Lion don't came with Java preinstalled, so you are safe about Java security problems if you haven't installed Java. If you have installed Java, update it.
It's always dangerous to use privative plugins as Java or Flash because they have got a lot of security problems, so although you keep Java updated, developers will discover more security problems

There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps. If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.

For users of 10.6 and later: You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser

Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File: a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected. 3.b.

The Adobe site gave me the impression that I would have this feature after purchasing the new upgrade. I would not have purchased the upgrade, let alone five of them had I know this. Am I missing something?

Acrobat XI comes with the Fromscentral AIR application and the ability to create PDF forms authored in Formscentral. To have more than the free (1 form with 50 responses) level account you need to sign up for a Formscentral subscription.

My account was charged for buying app that I actually didn't buy. I was trying to sort out these mistake by calling the support number given (Russia). There was no other options like sending an email or calling some other number. I was on hold for one hour and a half! Is that normal for Apple support??? So apart from being charged for the app I haven't given my permission to buy, I also got a phone bill for calling the only support number available. Where can I submit my complain and what could be done about it?

I just had Uverse installed. The iMac which was my base station is now connected via my household electric ground connection. Another computer is now the base station. I have connected my Time Capsule to my computer by USB cable, but can't set it up

I just had Uverse installed. My iMac desktop has been the base station for my wi fi, but we had to connect it via ground wire of my electrical system and use another desktop as the base station [with windows op system]. We have connected my Time Capsule to the computer via USB cable. I believe that will require setting up the Capsule to use Ethernet, but the instructiions on the install disc only talk about using Airport. How can I find instructions for setting up using USB cable and Ethernet?

The TC cannot connect to the computer by USB.. it is network device.. it only connects by ethernet or wireless.. usb is for external drive or printer.

My iPod isn't turning on nor is it flat because I've had it on charge for a few hours. My computer isn't picking it up and it worked fine last night.

I've never had this problem before and it was fine a few hours ago!

i'm trying to load XML-data into the database with the following pseudocode:

It works in JAVA with one exception. All characters using more than one byte in UTF-8 are double encoded. That means, if the XML-String contains an german umlaut ä (U+00E4) this character is encoded as "C3 A4" in the string. After submitting the XML to the database the ä has the value C3 83 C2 A4 => the value C3 is encoded as C3 83 and the value A4 is encoded as C2 A4.
Thats no problem if i query the documents from Java because the way back is the same. But if i retrieve the document over the protocoll server (WebDav or FTP) the character encoding is corrupted (2 characters for ä).
I am using Ora 11.2.0.1 on Linux with ojdbc6.jar. My NLS settings are as follows:
NLS_LANGUAGE             GERMAN
NLS_TERRITORY            GERMANY
NLS_CHARACTERSET         AL32UTF8
NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET   AL16UTF16
On the client GERMAN_GERMANY.WE8MSWIN1252, but i also tried with SET NLS_LANG=GERMAN_GERMANY.AL32UTF8 because of the UTF coding of the XML string.
What I am doing the wrong way?

Ask toolbar wont let me open new tabs, got it from Java even when I unchecked it.

You need to check out when an update from Java. It ask to to install Ask. I unchecked it and it still installed. Then wreaks havoc to Firefox.

To remove the Ask toolbar, try here:
Tools menu > Add-ons > Extensions category
If you have a Disable button but not Remove or Uninstall button, you might need to use the Windows Control Panel to uninstall it.
By the way, your post shows Firefox 3.6.6, which is an insecure version. You should update at least to 3.6.18. You can do that using Help > Check for updates.
If you don't have 3.6.6, please indicate which version you actually have.

Reports from Java and Oracle database

I need to generate couple of reports from my application, with Java as front end and oracle 11.2.0.3.0. database . Reports are having very simple select statements, using the criteria users enter from GUI. we don't need to execute a direct select statement from Java, with the where clauses . I did some research and found out about Pipelined functions. I tested for a small set of records and it worked fine. Will this work for large data set? any drawbacks of using this method? Any other methods for this requirement?

Pipeline table functions do not sound like the appropriate approach. It is designed to primarily deal with data transformations. Using it as a rendering engine for report writing? There are fundamental problems with such an approach.
As Dave and Andre commented - the CORRECT means for PL/SQL to pass "data" to Java (or other client languages) is via reference cursors (pointers that the client can use for referencing SQL cursor programs on the server). And Java as a report writer does not really compare with the ease and flexibility that Oracle Apex (Application Express) provides as a reporting framework.
