Is my music lost? Did my flash drive not copy the songs properly?
Dragged all my music files to my flash drive before upgrading my operating system and doing a full wipe of everything, which I did today. The songs won't show up on the flashdrive now...or my upgraded computer. Are my music files lost?
Do you mean sorta like unzipping the folder? When I backed up my contacts, they were saved into an archived (or zip?) folder on my flashdrive, couldn't actually be opened on the flashdrive, and could only be opened to see individual contacts once I actually transferred the whole archived folder back to the new computer. IF so, is that why I I see an "iTunes" folder on my flash drive that I created but don't find any files in it when I actually click?

I have a 20gb iPod that needs music from ITunes. On my new computer I am trying to sync but I get error message "could not copy to iPod because file could not be read or written. How can I import music files from a flash drive to my iTunes library? I put the flash drive into my laptop, selected " add file to library", selected the songs I wanted from the flash drive, and it looked like they were added as the names show under " recently added". Then I removed the flash drive from my laptop But when I select one of the songs and try to play it a message saying "the song could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" So it seems the actual files did not transfer. What do I do? I have done this. With a cd in the past with nsomproble,.

Dragging the files to "Automatically Add..." is pretty easy once you know where to look. Just make sure iTunes is running when you do it; otherwise the files will just sit there until the next time you open iTunes.
(Interestingly, the way you originally tried to do would have worked fine except for one little detail: you have to first go into Edit > Preferences > Advanced, and check the box for "Copy files..." If that is not done, iTunes will reference the files on the flash drive, which of course are not accessible once the drive is removed, as you saw.)

If you subscribed to iTunes match the songs are kept in icloud. If you didn't but you did save the actual iTunes library folder which should include the music, video, etc. you should be able to just drag this file back to your machine in the same place and when you open iTunes it will give you a chance to identify the iTunes library folder.
You can test this to find out if you saved the media files or not and don't need to attach your nano to do it.
You are correct that once you connect the nano it will clear the existing files from it and sync it with the new iTunes library.
If you don't have the media files i'm not sure if/how to get them back on a windows ipod. I have everything backed up regularly because of the horror stories I have seen & heard. -

Hold down the Option key while you boot your Mac. Then, it should show you a selection of devices. Click your flash drive and it will boot from that.

When insert my lexar USB flash drive I get the message that the disk was not readable by this computer. It has worked previous to this and I do not want to lose the data by reformatting the drive. How can I reformat this drive and not lose my data?
You can't reformat it and not wipe everything on it.
Have you tried a different USB port?

I copied my CS5 install disk to a Flash Drive, then ran the "install" on my new computer. I had the ownership S/N, so-o-o-o, CS5 installed and "seems" to respond well. PROBLEM: PhotoShop. The Menu Bar, the Commands, the Tool Bar, the Color Palettes, and etc., etc., are all real small on my display -- I would estimate they are about 1/3 of the normal size. Same problem with Illustrator. I've made all the Screen Resolution and Print-Size settings and nothing remedies the small display. (My working page is fine; it's just the display that is REAL tiny!!) Can you help me? Do you have any suggestions for me to try? Should I re-install from the internet? Am I forced to upgrade my application? I appreciate any comments you might have. Thanks. -- Dennis

Hello everyone,
I purchased a SanDisk Cruzer Micro 1.0 GB flash drive not too long ago and it was working fine. Removed some software that was on it because I couldn't use it.
Used my flash drive today and I receive this error, but still kinda works...
"The disc could not be used because the disc drive is not supported. (Error code 0x80020025)"
The flash drive also does not eject the flash drive correctly. The little light that is on the flash drive does not turn off when I press the eject button in the OS hard drive icon.
I've tried reformating the flash drive and tried downloading the driver on the sandisk website, but it is for the Windows 98SE Operating System and does nothing for my iBook G4.
Any suggestion would be much appreciated.

iBook G4 Mac OS X (10.3.4)Someone on another forum had a similar issue. Basically, you need to connect it to a Windows machine and uninstall the U3 software from it.
The error message you get indicates that the computer is trying to access the flash drive as if it was a CD writer.

For a while now my computer has been saying " Start up disk is nearly full", however I don't have a lot of stuff saved on the computer I moved a lot to a flash drive, and all the other stuff are songs and recently saved essays for school. I have and frequently empty my trash can. I have researched this before and i see a lot of things that say get a external hard drive, but before I go and purchase one I want to make sure there is no other, simpler way, to solve this problem. You need an external drive so you can free up disk space. Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you have a minimum of 15% free disk space.

I recently bought an 8GB USB flash drive, which came formatted FAT-32. The drive was put into a friend's Windoze laptop and had a couple GBs of jpeg and avi files transferred to it. I took the drive home and put it in my white MacBook (4GB RAM, Leopard 10.5.8) and it would not mount. I put it in my G4 MacMini; likewise, it wouldn't mount. I am assuming it also won't mount in all my older Macs with USB, either. I returned it to the Windoze laptop, and it ALSO wouldn't mount this time, except as one pulled the flash drive from the Windoze laptop, for a second a window with the flash drive's contents would flash on the desktop of the laptop. Originally, the flash drive was "properly" ejected from the Windoze laptop.
On the MacBook, both Disk Utility and DiskWarrior do not see the flash drive when it is in the USB port (either port). However, Apple System Profiler does recognize when it is plugged into the port. ASP returns the following information when the flash drive is in the high speed USB port:

Anybody have any idea what is the cause of my problems with the flash Drive and how I can get the drive to mount? I don't think the problem is a function of my Apple hardware, as my USB ports on all my machines function with everything else USB which I have without problems. I've come to the conclusion that the drive may be defective, too, but I was just looking for some possible angle which I'd not already considered. I tried reformatting, but without the drive even being recognized, it isn't even possible to reformat. I can only get ASP to indicate that it is attached.

I copied my iTunes music from an old computer to a new Macbook pro but it did not copy the playlists that are on my Nano. How can I copy the playlists and their content on the nano to the Macbook? If I automatically sync the nano from the Macbook, will it scrub the content and existing playlists on the nano?
