Is my OLE DB installation done correctly on Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit?

I have installed Instant Client thru Instant Client option in Oracle Database 11g Release 2 Client (11.2.0.1.0) for Microsoft Windows (x64) NOT thru Instant Client package.
Then I installed the oledb from 64-bit ODAC 11.2 Release 3 (11.2.0.2.1) for Windows x64 by executing install.bat oledb c:\oracle odac.
I find the following values in registries:
under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle\KEY_odac:
NLS_LANG has the value AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252
OLEDB has the value c:\Oracle\oledb\mesg
ORACLE_GROUP_NAME has the value Oracle - odac
ORACLE_HOME has the value c:\Oracle
ORACLE_HOME_NAME has the value odac
under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle\KEY_OraClient11g_home1:
NLS_LANG has the value AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252
ORACLE_GROUP_NAME has the value Oracle - OraClient11g_home1
ORACLE_HOME has the value C:\Oracle\product\11.2.0\client_1
ORACLE_HOME_NAME has the value OraClient11g_home1
I wonder whether I have done the installations incorrectly since some keys have different values between the 2 registries.

I have no doubt that the problem in the OS localization.
But, taking into account some facts:
World population is estimated to number 7.126 billion people.
Anglosphere is about 740 million people.
I have not found information about the supported OS languages.
I'm worried about losing my non-English data.
I am for the licensed software, but a trial and registered OS has the same functionality, and displays messages/data in the same way.
I doubt that the OS registration will allow installer to properly finish and even display the error correctly. (Java strings is UTF-based, so, developers should set correct code page. Probably, because system code page can be different with console code page (cp866 for Russian). Current codepage could be view by executing "chcp" in console).
In any case Enterprise-class product should operate correctly on each supported systems, or inform about problems before.

  • OBI11g installation on Windows Server 2008 R2 (64bit)

    Hi,
Sorry to pick up this topic again, but my research in the forum and other inet sites doesn't help me so far and my installation will not work.
    My Situation:
    I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 (64bit) default installlation. The server (HyperV-managed) has 4 GB RAM.
I added a Loopback adaptor and set for the loopbackadapter a fixed IP (10.10.10.10 Subnet: 255.255.255.0).
Entered in the host file (127.0.0.1 localhost and 10.10.10.10 servername)
    Installed JDK 64bit
    Installed Oracle Client 32bit
Then I tried all three options:
    1) Default OBIEE Installation --> start of coreapplication_obips1 has failed. Everything else was fine. I was not able to start the obips1 manually
    2) Enterprise Installation --> start of coreapplication_obips1 has failed. Everything else was fine. I was not able to start the obips1 manually
    3) Manually installed WebLogic 1033 --> SoftwareOnly installation of OBIEE --> manually start config of OBI Installation --> same result as above!
Perhaps you have some hints for me.
    Cheers
    Wolfgang

Not in the slightest - I installed five just the other week
All our virtual machines, running 2008 R2 x64. We went for Enterprise Edition, but I believe in CF9 they're both 64-bit anyway. These are the from the build notes I built up:
      Install extra roles:
        Application Server
        Web Server (IIS)
          Application Development
          IIS6 METABASE Compatibility
      Install extra Features:
        SMTP Service
Other than that nothing else needs doing. It's worth noting (as a slight but irritating aside) that in 2008 R2 the SMTP service is set to Manual not Automatic, so you'll want to change that unless you want your emails to stop every time you reboot the box.
But the actual install itself was far simpler than CF8 on 2008.
    O.

  • Installation 12c R1 on Windows Server 2008 R2

    Hello,
I had a bad idea - try the new database.
    So:
    1)            Downloading oracle DB files, but download interrupted (lost Wi-Fi - my fault), but auth token was expired and I have to redownload 90%.
    2)            Installing Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition (I want to install English edition, but I had only Russian one)
    3)            Spending a lot of time to install, and wont install.
I made some attempts (each with new OS installation):
with/without UAC, from network/local drive, desktop/server class, existing/new user, each editions, both charset... But all of them were unsuccessful.
Installation show popup errors like that:
    "DIM-00019: create service error
    O/S-Error: (OS 1387) ?? ??????? ???????? ??? ??????? ????? ????????? ??????, ??? ??? ?? ?? ??????????. "
    Ora error
Log file have a lot of useful information, like this:
    "[main] [ 2013-11-22 17:16:12.449 EST ] [KfodUtil.kfodOutput:333]  Cannot run program "null\rdbms\bin\kfod.exe": CreateProcess error=2, ?? ??????? ????? ????????? ????
    java.io.IOException: Cannot run program "null\rdbms\bin\kfod.exe": CreateProcess error=2, ?? ??????? ????? ????????? ????"
Any ideas what should be done for success installation?
It works as well as installed?
Interestingly, does Oracle have any testing stuff

  • EPM 11.1.2.1 Installation problem on Laptop (Windows Server 2008 R2 x64)

    Dear All,
I hope someone can help me here with EPM 11.1.2.1 installation problem on my notebook - Windows Server 2008 R2 x65, 8 GB RAM, running SQLServer 2008 Express.
I installed Hyperion Foundation. The installation and configuration went through successfully.
    I am facing two problems:
    Problem 1
When I try to access the workspace through the URL http://hostname:19000/workspace/index.jsp, I get error:
    Quote
    Failure of server APACHE bridge:
No backend server available for connection: timed out after 10 seconds or idempotent set to OFF.
    End-quote
    Problem 2
Also, the service "Hyperion EPM Server" service not able to start. When I try to start, I get error message:
    Quote
The Hyperion EPMA Server service on Local computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs.
    End-quote
I tried checking everything but can't seem to figure out what's going wrong.
I have uploaded (1) EPM Config Manager screenshot (2) EPM System diagnostic report (3) EPM Registry editor output and (4) system services listing at
    http://www.mediafire.com/?pr9l1v99w4d9u4r,c3vggxeibqkxbo2,lyzclu2aggbn8qh,8kur9gxal5b361z
It would be very grateful if someone can have a look and help me.
Many thanks in advance for any help / pointers / suggestions.
    - Neil

    Hi Pablo,
Thanks to your suggestion for database, problem #2 seem to be resolved. I am now able to start EPMA Service.

  • What happens if I don't activate Windows Server 2008?

Hello. I currently have some Windows Server 2008 virtual machines that I use for school labs. They're legitimate copies (they came with the MS 70-642 lab manual), but I forgot to activate them at school and I remember that I only have 12 days left to activate.
Will I still be able to use the Windows Server 2008 machines after the activation deadline? Will any features (AD, IIS, DNS, etc.) be lost?
    Thanks.

I am sure once the trail period has expired it won't allow you to log on. I think after you put username and password it comes with the activate screen and won't let you pass untill you activate it.
You might able to increase the trail period with the following method. I hope you still have some time left.
Click Start, and then click Command Prompt.
Type slmgr.vbs -dli, and then press ENTER to check the current status of your evaluation period.
To reset the evaluation period, type slmgr.vbs –rearm, and then press ENTER.
    Restart the computer.
I think you can do this 5 times.

  • Installation of Client Access role fails on Windows Server 2008 R2 (Execution of: "$error.Clear(); Install-ExchangeCertificate -services "IIS, POP, IMAP")

    Hello
I am trying to install Exchange Server 2010 beta 1 onto a Windows Server 2008 R2 (build 7000) machine which has also been set up as a domain controller.
However when attempting to install the Client Access role, setup fails with the error below.
Does anyone know of a way to get around this please?
I have already searched for this error and not found any similar threads.
Also every time I press the code button on this forum it crashes the browser and I keep losing the message! (IE8 from within Server R2). Also the message box is very small, will not expand and keeps jumping to the top.
    Thanks
    Robin

    Hello
    Thanks for all the replies.
I have since wiped the system and installed everything again and it all worked this time so not sure what was wrong last time. I did try to uninstall all Exchange components and then uninstall IIS and Application server, reboot and re-install but I received the same error still when it came to installing the client access role.
Walter: I just attempted the standard installation which should have used the default self-signed certificate. Everything was a fresh install done at the same time on a freshly formatted PC.
For info last time when it failed to work:
    - Installed Windows Server 2008 R2
    - Installed Domain Controller role using dcpromo. I set the forest and domain as Windows Server 2008 R2
    - Added a forest trust between main domain and test Exchange domain (set up as ex2010.local)
    - Installed IIS and Application Server role
    - Installed Hyper-v role
    - Installed Desktop Experience feature
    - Installed Exchange and recieved the error
When it worked I set up the forest and domain in Windows Server 2008 mode (i.e. not R2), installed Exchange first and then set up the forest trust and then Hyper-v. It did say it failed to configure dns which was probably because it started trying to do automatic updates half way through the dcpromo! DNS seems to work ok though.
I did notice this time that Hyper-v gave a warning about the virtual network adapter not being set up correctly and the local network did not work correctly although I could access the internet. Not sure if this could have been related to the cause of the problem previously. For now I have disabled the virtual network until I get time to try and get it working and so the mail will work in the meantime.
I also noticed that Hyper-v added an extra 443 ssl binding to the default website so as it had 2 bindings on port 443 it refused to start. After deleting one it worked.
I decided to install Exchange onto a domain controller as it is only a test and I wouldn't do it in a live environment. I am also short of test machines! It didn't give me any warnings about this actually, I think previous versions warn you that it is not recommended.
Andreas and Chinthaka: I did not know about the requirement to run the domain at 2003 mode. The main domain is running in 2008 mode with Exchange 2007 so I assume this is just a temporary beta related requirement. It does seem to be working (second attempt) so far in a 2008 mode domain although I haven't had a chance to fully test it yet.
    Thanks
    Robin
P.S. Sorry it's taken me a while to reply!

  • Installation Server Slow on Windows Server 2008 R2

Previously I had two identical servers setup to service SAPGui installs in our corporate office.  Both were configured for SAPGui 7.20 Patch 3 and the servers were Windows Server 2003 SP2.
Recently one of these servers was replaced with a newer/faster with more memory Windows Server 2008 R2 box.
I immediately noticed installs to front ends were taking longer when run off the 2008 system.  Today I timed installs to two identical front end Win XP computers.
    Server 2003 SP2 installed in 7 minutes.
    Server 2008 R2 installed in 23 minutes.
    Has anyone else experienced this?
    Bob H

  • Error while performing SAP Installation in HA Env on Windows Server 2008

    Hello,
I am performing a SAP Installation in HA Environment on Windows Server 2008. I am at the ASCS installation step.
As per the guide before installing ASCS there are some activities to be carried out on Failover Cluster Management.
I have done all the steps except one as per the guide. I am stuck in the Add FileServer Step. In this step the guide says to go to the Dependencies tab and add the cluster disk resource to the dependencies list. It also says to add the Name:Virtual NetworkName to the dependencies list.
Now in my scenario I have 3 shared drives for SAP and I have added each of them in the dependencies list of the new FileServer. The only problem is how do I add the Name:Virtual NetworkName to this list
When I continue without giving the Network name the system issues a warning "This resource requires dependencies on instances of the following resource types or classes:Network Name. Not adding these dependencies will prevent the resource from working properly. Do you want to save the current settings anyway"
If I click on Yes and bring this resource online it fails with this error message
"The action Bring this resource online did not complete. An error occured while attempting to bring the resource 'SAPECC FileServer online'. The cluster resource could not be brought online by resource monitor."
My question is how to add the Name:VirtualNetworkName to the dependencies list of the FileServer.

    Hi,
I have resolved the issue with the help of cluster admin

  • 64-bit OLE drivers for Windows Server 2008-R2

    Hello,
    Oracle DB=10.2.0.4 installed on RHL=5
Applications access vis Oracle OLE. Currently, we are updating to Windows 2008 Server (64-bit). I have heard that there are no 64-bit drivers from Oracle, right or wrong? If it is wrong, could you please provide me the link to download it.
If it's not possible, what alternative is there, or any directions from Oracle? ... A re-programmed to ODBC or web services, etc is unfortunately not possible.
Thanks a lot for your help

    Hello Greg,
Thank you for the reply. I would appreciate if you could elaborate a bit more please.
There is a 64 bit version of OraOledb that installs with the 64 bit client.Which DB Client for Microsoft 64-bit from the following Oracle site should work for database 10.2.0.4 version? Is the higher version of 64-bit Client version works with lower version of Database Server?
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/winx64soft-089540.html
There is no 64 bit oo4o, and it's not supported to use 32 bit oo4o on a 64 bit OS (although it seems to work). If there is no 64-bit Oracle Object for OLE, then what is the recommended way or workaround when using with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit?
    Thank you very much.

  • Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1 installation on Windows Server 2008

    Hello,
I am trying to install CRS2008V1 on Windows Server 2008 x64 with SQL Server 2008 and IIS 7.0. Installation wizard says that installation is finished succesfull but I cannot access CMC Console and InfoView. Is there anything which shuld be done more? CRS2008 installation on Windows 2003 was trouble free. I'm very confused now... Anyone can help me?
    Regards,
    Seb.

I had similar issues.  My resolution was...
    - In IIS Manager, create a new Application Pool called "Classic .NET AppPool"
    - For that app pool, set the managed pipeline mode to "Classic"
    - with that new app pool selected, click on View Applications in the right-hand panel
    - make sure that you see all of the Business Objects applications listed, if not...
         - click the Remove Filter link in the top panel
         - open each Business Objects related application and assign it to the new app pool
You may need to do an iisreset at that point, but that cleared up the issue for me.

  • BPC Installation on Windows Server 2008

Does anyone know if SAP BPC version 7.0 can be installed on windows server 2008?

    Hi Harry,
The installation of BPC on the Microsoft platform is tricky enough that for any business-related purpose, you should rely on the guidance of the specialists who do installations.  They will tell you that right now the Windows Server 2003 platform is really the only way to go, and as someone who has worked on these, I can tell you that it is crucial to reduce the number of new platform choices and/or chances for bugs/glitches/changes.
To learn more about the process, you should go to the Technical Installation class, which used to be RABPC7 on the 5.1 version.  It might still be the same course number.
If you'd like a taste of all of the parts of the process involved, there is a document on the SDN called "How to Perform a Dual-Server BPC for Microsoft Install".  It doesn't cover everything, but it will give you a flavor for the process.
In any case, I would strongly recommend that you don't even look at Win2K8 until they update BPC with it.
Sidenote:  SQL 2008 is supported as of 7.0 SP3, I think and we've been using it on a DEV environment without any issues so far.

  • Cold fusion 9 Installation on Windows server 2008 (IIS 7.0) - IIS websites not working ?

I am having a 64 bit machine on which windows server 2008 R2 is installed. IIS 7.0 is configured and running on it. on which I have my organisations main website. I have to install Cold fusion on this machine as some of my site pages are designed with CF.
I used all the default settings for installing cold fusion 9. It got completed succefully. But after I restarted my system and tried accesing my ASP.net website it was not loading the page. Text getting displayed was only as follows '<script> src="'. Later I unsistalled CF and my site was working fine.
Please can any one guide me to successfully install Cold fusion without disturbing my main site deployed on IIS ?

Sarfarajms, I don't recognize what about the CF install would conflict with ASP.NET, but I'll note this:
If you downloaded CF 9 recently, you are still running 9.0--which does NOT formally support IIS 7. If you followed the steps about enabling IIS 6 compatibility and such (in the install guide or some blog entry), perhaps that caused the conflict.
Instead, you will want to install 9.0.1 (CF 9 Updater 1, which is NOT provided in the current 9.0 install). THAT is the first release to formally support IIS 7. And if you read the updater installation guide (http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/coldfusion/901/cf901install.pdf), it discusses how to deal with the upgrade depending on what you had done with respect to IIS, starting at the bottom of its page 8.
    Hope that helps.

  • Installation Support of SAP Kernel Products on Vista / Windows Server 2008

one of the major design goals of Vista and Microsoft Server 2008 is to harden the operating system against unauthorized attacks from viruses, trojan horses etc.
The most important change in Vista/Windows Server 2008 (formerly longhorn)  is: a process running under a user account which belongs to the local administrators group does not run with administrative priviledges as long the process is not elevated to the administrative level.
Elevation can be done by starting the process per Explorer using <b>Run As Administrator</b> or using special APIs, which are new in Vista. Programs started with <b>Run as Administrator</b> will not be able to start subprocesses elevated without additional changes (compared to Windows XP / Server 2003).
Security settings of many Windows system objects like Directories and Registry Hives etc are much more restrictive in Vista compared to Windows Server 2003 / XP. In some functions SAPinst tries to access registry keys and values for enumeration with full access which is no longer possible in Vista.
In other words: without code changes in SAPInst for Vista / Windows Server 2003 there will be no possibility to install a SAP System on these platforms.
If you do not have a SAP note stating the opposit or if you do not have a PAM (Product Availability Matrix) entry promising support for Vista / Windows Server 2008 the probability is about 99.9 percent (or even higher) that the installation will <b>not</b> run.
    regards
    Peter

    yes, that's true.
I know of efforts porting MaxDB to Vista (there are some PTS'ses open) but generally one can say, that products below 7.00 are unlikely to work short term.
