Is my Photoshop CS6 legal?
Is my Photoshop CS6 legal? Under "Help"; "Product Registration", "Deactivate" and "Updates" are grayed out. I have a legal CD & serial# (& Adobe receipt/packing list). When someone else reinstalled Windows7 on 12-04-12, CS6 was reinstalled. Since we had discussed deactivate/uninstall, etc at the time I assumed all that was done properly. I just discovered (4-1-15) that these 3 items are grayed out.
I discovered these missing entries after I couldn't open jpg files in camera raw. I got "Camera Raw is not enabled. Camera Raw editing requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature." I rarely use Camera Raw (apparently, last time was over 2 years ago). Have I been using an unauthorized copy of Photoshop all this time?
Is there a way to inquire at Adobe to have my legal serial# deactivated (if necessary)? Or can I use my legal# to legitimize what's already installed? Do I just uninstall/reinstall/activate Photoshop CS6? I'd really like to talk to a live person, to be able to fully discuss & understand the problem/solution so that I don't complicate it further.
Which "Preferences" (actions, plug-in folders, etc) should be saved prior to uninstalling?
As I'm sure you can tell by now, I'm paranoid about making things worse.

However, that doesn't appear (to me) to address my particular problem. Maybe I just don't understand the workings of the registration process. I thought, if I install/activate Photoshop, it checks to see if it is already registered/activated & if so won't let me install again (after installing on 2 computers). It is also my understanding that a code/setting/whatever is checked to allow reinstallation on the same computer, but I'm not sure about that. I'm afraid that reinstalling/registering might not work, because it doesn't know it's the same (desktop) computer again. I haven't yet, but one day I want to also install CS6 on my laptop.
My CS6 is already activated, but I can't update because that choice (along with registration & deactivation) are grayed out in the program. How do I make those choices available?
I'm afraid to just play around with uninstalling/reinstalling. If my reinstall gets rejected, I'm totally screwed. At least, now I have a "mostly OK" running version of CS6.
Does Adobe have a chat line or whatever for discussing such problems?

You can start work on your game from the moment you download and complete the installation of the Trial version.
No-one will be standing over you watching what you do or monitoring you remotely or noting when you pay for the software.
You can buy the software at any time during the Trial period. However, after a maximum 30 days of using the Trial, you will have to pay to keep using the software.
Other than that, do what you like with the Trial.
(If you somehow finish the game after 20 days of using the Trial then you can start selling the game even if you have not yet purchased the software.) -
Reinstalling photoshop CS6 extended
I have to reformat my hard drive and reinstall photoshop CS6. Will Adobe recognize that I am not just installing the program on another computer but that I am using my legal software and let me use the program?
I hope I am making sense.If your computer isnt yet completly dead and you have the ability to boot up Photoshop you can deactivate it from the help menu giving you back one of your activations. That is assuming you can access your computer (which I realise you may not be able to do).

Trouble Installing Photoshop CS6
I have not had any success with installing Photoshop CS6 trial. I have probably tried installing it a dozen times. I've spent the last two nights either waiting for tech support or getting poor suggestions from them on how to fix my problem. I have a new Dell windows 8 PC and yet I get between 50 and 100 errors codes after the installation takes place. I've tried many different online suggestions and tech support offers a lot of the same and they never are willing to stick around to see if their suggestions work. They say comeback if it doesn't work. The latest suggestion was to simply change the name of the OOBE folder to OOBE.old. Gee that didn't work, what a surprise. It shouldn't be this difficult to install some software. Each time I try to install I first run adobe cleaner, so I can start with a clean slate. PLEASE HELP!!!

How do I download a font that I had on my older pc version of photoshop onto my new mac and mac version of photoshop CS6?

If you still have access to your older PC, you can take the fonts from that computer by following these directions. You should be able to put them onto a flash drive or external hard drive, then install them on your Mac from there. Depending on how you got the fonts in the first place, you may be able to download them online (be wary of font licenses, however—make sure it is legal to be using them). To install a font onto your Mac:
1) Locate the font file on your flash drive/external/CD/downloads folder (I'm installing a downloaded font in this example). Double click to open the folder.
2) Double click on the font file (typically a .ttf or .otf file) and the following window will pop up. Click "Install Font."
3) This automatically opens FontBook, which is the basic font management software that comes with your Mac. You will then be able to see the font in your installed fonts list, which will make it available for use within Photoshop.

Can I purchase the Photoshop CS6 student version in this educational stage? When does it expire?
Hi! I'm from Spain. I'm in a educational stage that would be more or less equivalent to what you call high school. This stage here is called "bachillerato". Does anyone know if at this stage I have rights to buy and use legally the Photoshop CS6 Extended student version for learning and earning money with commercial projects like games with some elements made with that version of Photoshop? Please only answer if you really know the answer, please don't simply say "yes" because in other countries you can get the version because of beeing in high school, because this is not exactly the same as high school.
And, if I can get the license and use it legally that way: when does it expire in this to cases?
A) I don't go to University. Would it expire when I finish "bachillerato". Or when?
B) I go to University but I don't study anything related with Photoshop.
I know that if I study something related with Photoshop in University I can use the student version then.I would contact Adobe España Customer support, as they should know the full qualifications for "educational" accreditations there.
As for the university qualification, one does not normally need to be pursuing a degree, that would use Photoshop, to qualify for the "educational" discount - just full student, or teacher, accreditation - but that might differ in Spain?
Also, for many years now, Adobe has removed the restriction on doing commercial work (for pay) with the educational version, and that should be universal, and not just limited to certain countries, but it might pay to ask that question of Customer Support.

How to desactivate photoshop cs6 ?
I want to uninstall/reinstall photoshop cs6.
When trying to desactivate it, it asks me to connect to the internet.
But I am connected and the other help menus of photoshop (update search, customer ervice help...) connect to the internet without any problem.

There is no doubt that there is a limit of the number of allowed re-activations.
You can contact Adobe customer service to verify that and to see what the current limit is—wich at this time I think it's four (4). Beyond that you have to go through Adobe customer service to ask for one additional reactivation, kind of like asking the Pope for a "dispensation" or something.
If you think about it, it's a reasonable protection Adobe seeks against users installing the application on several (more than 2) computers and then deactivating and reactivating one or more.

JJMack in post #3 very timely reminds us of the ephemeral nature of Adobe Activation Servers. Perhaps Adobe would have a minimum of decency and provide alternative serial numbers and modofied downloads if they decide to decommission this server too, like what they did when they deprecated the CS2 activation server; but, again, given their abusive nature as revealed in their cloud contract, this may turn out to be mere wishful thinking. -
Upgrade from Photoshop CS6 Student to normal version?

Last year I bought Photoshop CS6 Student as I was a student back then. Right now I started a business and want to keep using photoshop legally. Is it possible to upgrade from a student license to a normal license? What is the price of this upgrade? Or can I just use my student version for business purposes? (I guess not)

RegardsPrimarily a budgetary concern. At the time, I had $199 to spend on the upgrade. The extra $200 wasn't going to happen before the end of December when the pricing was said to increase so I went ahead and picked up CS6. The 3D capabilities would be nice to have and probably would be helpful in future projects, but the need right now was to get the upgrade to the standard with the (now presumably false) assumption I could upgrade when I had a few more gigs show up.
If it's another $400 to upgrade, it won't be worth it for me. My primary job is programming, I only do side work for photography and some simple design and while it'd be nice to have some basic 3D ability in Photoshop, it's not $600 worth (400 for the upgrade + the $200 I already spent). -

Hello, I'd like to know about ownership and registration of photoshop cs6
Hello, I'm about to buy a photoshop cs6 retailed version on internet. Frankly, CC version doesn't really fit to me.
I'm not a professional designer, and neither my company isn't any design company. All I need is a simple graphic work at my company.
There isn't any body else in my company who knows and even need to use photoshop besides me.
So I think a retailed copy of photoshop cs6 is perfect. I'm about to buy a brand new retailed version of cs6 and register it under my company name.
That way I may use it as long as I work at the current company.
But I have two questions over ownership and registration of photoshop cs6.
First, Is there any regional restriction? I'm about to buy photoshop on internet. I think either ebay or amazon. I live in Korea, and I don't need
any Korean version of photoshop. So I just wonder if this is legal and doesn't have any problem.
Second, I saw a extended version of phtoshop on internet. The seller said it doesn't have any serial number. It is embeded to the DVD.
I think what he meant is ownership of the program is not based on the serial number but on the DVD itself. The seller said it is un-opened and
without breaking any seal of product. They were sold to a company and never used. But company never used it and want to sell it. I just want to
know if this product is still legal.I can probably say with 99% certainty that if you buy Photoshop on ebay or amazon, especially with what you're describing, it is a pirated copy that will eventually (after 30 days?) stop working and you will have lost your money. Just buy it from Adobe and have peace of mind.

I installed the ESD version of Photoshop CS6, instalation was successful. After that, I logged into my Adobe ID to register the software. When I pressed option "add new product" and typed the serial key, information appeared: "This serial key is already registered. You can only register product once". But the problem is, if it says that software is already registered then why section "Your products" is empty and says "No products registered"?
Can somebody please help me with this issue?I bought it from the reseller, not directly from Adobe. I never installed it before, as a matter of fac,t I bought it a week ago . Surprisingly, during instalation there were no issues and serial key was approved. During the instalation I was asked to log into my adobe ID, I only had to give email address and password. But when I noticed that there is this issue with registration, I started to worry. Is it possible that the serial number I have is not genuine and legal? Is there any way that I could check if my serial key is legal and to which account it is registered? The seller does not reply, although previously his replies were pretty frequent.

I am trying to update Adobe Bridge and Photoshop CS6, because it is not opening my CR2 files taken by my Canon 6D. I have tried to go to help > updates, and the software says that it is "Up to Date". However, if I view the plug-in, it says that Camera Raw is only version 7.1. I can not find a direct download for Camera Raw 7.3, only the DNG converter, NOT CAMERA RAW! Please Help!

Set file type associations in Adobe Bridge for Photoshop CS6
Is there a way I can edit the registry so that in Adobe Bridge, under edit, preferences, file type associations, the jpg extension is forced to use the 32-bit version of Photoshop? I can do it manually, but is there a registry key i can export to apply it to multiple computers?
Yes, in theory, but it is generally not recommended. But that location would depend on what OS you are on. I am trying to open CR2 files from a Cannon EOS 1DX camera in Photoshop CS6 and I have already updated the Camera Raw Plug in but Photoshop is still giving me the cannot open files dialog box? Help?
Canon 1DX support was added to ACR in version 6.7, 7.1. An updated CS6 should be at level ACR 8.6. If your ACR is not at level 8.6 try using CS6 menu Help>Updates. If that does not install ACR 8.6 try downloading the ACR and DNG 8.6 converter and see if ACR 8.6 will install into your CS6.

I can no longer use 3D commands in Photoshop CS6 Extended
I have Photoshop CS6 Extended (Ver 13.0.1x64). My desktop is Windows 7 64 Home premium; and Video card is: AMD Radeon HD 5570. The drivers and operating system is updated.
I have been using simple 3D functions like "New 3D extrusion from..." from time to time without any problems until recently. For unknown reasons now when I try to invoke any 3D command, I get the following message: " Could not complete the "New 3D extrusion from selected layer command because of a program error." This ,message gets repeated for any 3D command.
I checked out 3D functionality in Photoshop CS6 32 bit; and Photoshop CS5.5 Extended. Same problem. However, I can access and use all 3D functions in Illustrator CS6. Clearly, therefore, the video card is not the problem. It looks like one of the recent software updates from Adobe must have caused this problem.
