300watt should be enough for basic systems
but you got a lot toys plugged in aswell id say
get a min. of 400watt or add another 300watt.

  • Is My Current Psu Good Enough?

I had purchased my current PSU when I was using an AMD 1700+ . But I have rescently upgraded my comp with the config shown below. I plan to overclock but was wondering if my current PSU can handle the power requirements. I currently own a CODEGEN PSU with the followling specs
    CODEGEN 350W  Model No : 300PA
    +3.3 V = 20 A
    +5    V = 30 A
    +12  V = 12 A
    (+3.3v) + (+5v)  = 185 W Max
    -5 V     =  0.5 A
    -12V    =  0.8 A
    -5 VSB =  2A
    (-5 v) + (-12 v) = 9.6 W Max
I have the gutt feeling that it is insufficient for my current rig. Since I live in INDIA, its next to impossible to source a descent PSU. I plan to get myself an ANTEC True 480 . Is it enough for my current rig, or should I go for a 550 W PSU??
Thanks for all the advice in advance.

    Codegen 350Watt SMPS

You PSU is definately going to die off very soon or even immediate as the system you've got is very demanding on +12v rails.
I would suggest that you get a decent 480watts or above PSU and if you have enough to spend for, you can go for the top of line PSUs like, Enermax 465watts/470watts(dual isolated +12v) or Antec TruePower/TrueControl 480watts/550watts.

Cas, you have the coolermaster extreme power. There has been an issue with some models of coolermaster Realpower PSUs.  I could re-state the reasons, but Bosskiller has addressed this several times.

The Cooler Master has been working just fine for more than a year with a ASUS P5N32-E SLI Plus and an Intel Q6600. The Antec P450 works fine there too. So why should I believe you (no disrespect intended)? What is the specific grounding issue with the Cooler Master? Can you give me a URL to the issue at their support site?
    Thanks.
    Yep:

Wow are you serious..? Man that sucks...I hope I can get a return on it, damn.
EDIT: I spoke with there customer support line, they said they could RMA the power supply with a new revision that works with the board, I don't know what I'm going to do though.
Regardless if you get an updated model which has addressed the compatibility issue, you are better off with a single +12V rail PSU like the ones I suggested.

I am trying to download lion with the thumb drive how do i back up my files is time machine good enough or must i transfer everything to my hard drive

A erase of the drive or boot partition is not always necessary.
Flashing question mark at boot could be a easy fix, sometimes it's the firmware that simply forgot what bootable volume to boot from.
Try holding the Option key down while booting the machine, a choice of bootable options appears, select your OS X and boot up.
When you get in, head to System Preferences > Startup disk and set it again new. This will tell the firmware what to boot from. Test it to see.
Now if you don't have a selection of bootable options, it could be that the drive is dead, or OS X is erased or corrupted so it can't boot.
You'll have to run through this list of fixes to see what's going on, if you need a hardware fix or what, I've also included links if you can't fix it and need to recover your data etc.
(If it's not remmebering your boot selection then also run through the list to reset things.)

  • Looking for help in making my computer good enough to play games

I bought a computer from Best Buy right after Christmas. It's a HPE-410y. I'm pretty happy with it in terms of speed and ease of use. I'm glad to be finally done with freaking Vista and blue screens of death.
Anyho, a buddy of mine wants me to play Bad Company 2 with him. I don't know much about the game other than its a shooter. However, I did read in the editoral review that the ATI 5570 my computer came with is weak. Also, 300Watt power supply needs to be upgraded as well? Do you think a graphics card/power supply upgrade is all I need? hmmm
I have glanced at the graphics cards at Best Buy when I've been up there, but not exactly sure what will work, what is good. Looking for any advice and help on what I should possible buy to get this computer good enough to play games.  I wanna do this maybe the end of next month. My budget is 450 bucks. I don't need to pay to have any upgrades I decide to get installed, my brother can help me do that. I just need help in what to buy.
    Thanks for any feedback.

Agreed that it's an above average computer. If you still want to do the upgrade:

Like so many others I have not been able to access or send emails on iCloud.  This is now loosing me business! Not Good enough Apple and your lack of information is poor customer service.

Unfortunately, Apple does not yet allow merging of Apple ID's. if you were once using [email protected] as your Apple ID then there is no way to link that ID with the new one to avoid losing the previous data under that old ID. You will have to either go back to using the old ID to save the old data or just keep both, which you arfe allowed to do.

Purchase a couple of these when they go on sale.
Start burning all the photos onto DVDs.
At least you'll have all your photos if your computer, time machine or any other backup you use goes bonkers.

  • IBook G4...Video Card good enough?

On the 14" iBook, is the ATI Mobility Radeon 9550 with 32MB of dedicated DDR SDRAM good enough to be handle Photoshop CS2, and other high-end graphics software? I'm looking at getting an iBook for Graphics creation and other Media, but I'm not sure if the 32MB will be able to handle it. Can anyone help me out here?
Also, Can I get the Video Card upgraded at a later date? Incase I buy it, realize I need a better card, can I go out and buy one or would I have to get a whole new system?

As long as you are talking about 2D graphics which photoshop, illustrator, etc. are designed to handle, 32 MB of Vram is plenty. Even 8 MB of Vram would do the job. I have been working for years with photoshop on a power Mac 7600 with 6 MB of Vram.
3D graphics call for a lot of Vram, especially in up to date games. The latest iBook graphics card also supports core image technology.

  • Is (4770 3.5 i7 qouad core 8 mb cach) good enough for premier and after effect?

    Hi guys,
am buying the new imac 27" with its maximum features: 32 GB, 1 TB ssd, NVidia gtx 780 with 4GB, but I am worried about the cpu (4770 3.5 i7 qouad core 8 mb cach) is it good enough for premier and after effect?

Thanks John, but I've already read that page. I have just a simple question about the performance of "4 core" and "6core" if anyone had already tried both of them.

  • Is the iPod touch camera good enough to use Scanner Pro?

I'm thinking of downloading this app but I believe it's designed for the iPhone. Is the camera on the iPod touch good enough to scan documents? I mean, I don't expect a perfect scan but if I scan a regular sized page is it readable?

I do not recommend this. While the camera is perfectly capable to film HD movies, it strangely is crappy when it comes to Pictures.
The iPhone 4 has 5Megapixels , the iphone 4s has 8MP and the iPod touch ( current version is still the 4g model ) has 0,7MP.
For snapshots ok, but not for OCR/Scanner purposes.

  • Is the new macbook's performance good enough for me?

    Hi,
I didn't see any topic for the new MacBook, so I just put this question here, hope you people don't really mind, sorry for that.
My plan for next couple years on was to build a PC by myself, and buy a new laptop that have a nice design but can deliver enough performance for my need.  Here is what I was thinking about.
Sometimes I need to do something hard and intensive, also need playing video games for fun, which these are not quiet often.  Which is exactly why I want to build a desktop PC for.  Other times I need to use GIMP and I want to learn programming, knowing to use commands, or creating something new just for fun, also playing games that is not very intensive on performance (Minecraft, Left 4 Dead 2, GMOD(which could be intensive sometimes)).  But most of the times, I am just taking to my friends on internet, watching videos, or making a document maybe checking e-mails.
Consider about that, my laptop will be the primary platform, and only uses Desktop PC for heavy works.  It might also save some money for electricity :-)
My current Dell Inspiron 3000 was good, but sometimes I thought the N3530 was under-power, that does not benefits me on performance.  I have a mid-2012 MacBook Air from school which is faster, and is more than enough to do schoolwork and web broswing. The new MacBook I checked was pretty impressive and I like that design, but a lot of people have argued that performance, afraid that performance could only do light tasks.
These days I see the report that New MacBook was on par with mid-2011 MacBook Air on performance, so I guess it could benefits me.  If the performance is good enough, I will go with this one, regardless about price-performance thing.

Think of the new Macbook as a powerful iPad that can run OS X.....is that powerful enough for you? Sexy as they are, and I want one too, they're just an entry level computer.

  • Is my laptop good enough for adobe premiere cs6?

I wish to learn video editing, especially adobe premiere. I have copy of cs6 and noticed that my graphic card does not appear in the Adobe list so wanted to know what you think about my laptop before considering if I have to buy another one. My dell laptop is a core i7, 8gb ram. 2.5ghz with Intel hd 4000 graphic card.
Does this suffice for pro stuff? Is this good enough to learn to professional level or should I deep in to my savings and spend cash to buy a new lap top.
    Thanks

Premier Pro is a professional level program with serious ability to handle pro levels of work, including handling many advanced video codecs.   As Bill has mentioned, simpler codecs like AVCHD at 1080P CAN be handled on a newer I7 laptop with a few upgrades...OTHER , more demanding codecs at higher resolutions may require more "horsepower" and hardware, usually found in a desktop computer. So, much depends on the TYPE of material you are planning to edit and the COMPLEXITY of your timelines and workflow...how many layers, how many effects , etc. There is much to learn, before buying any hardware, right here on this forum and over at the PPBM7 website. Other sites can confuse newbies with bad and erroneous information.  Contributors here like Eric Bowen and Bill Gehrke have provided very valuable and correct information regarding appropriate hardware for PPro. You can learn a LOT by reading the results they have posted in testing various hardware configurations with PPro.
Bill and I both have had success using a newer gaming laptop from Asus for editing 1080p material....the G750JW. That model is a little older now, but, well worth it at the time I bought it last summer refurbished for $850, ( normally $1,300). I had to add system memory...the original 8GB was FAR too little....up to 24GB, which works well. The laptop has 2 internal hard drive bays....which is important. I placed a Crucial M500 SATA III SSD in each bay to provide good performance. The original single drive that was supplied was USELESS....it was a slow 5400rpm HDD not capable of use for video editing...you MUST have at least two separate drives at a minimum to run PPro....OS,programs and Windows page file on one drive only....all the rest, ( video files ,media, previews , and cache files), on the second drive. Even 7200rpm HDDs have trouble keeping up with the demand of multi-track editing....SSDs provide WAY better performance and are worth the price difference., if you can afford it.
If you MUST use a laptop and cannot consider a desktop, consider the following :
    1. The current version of Adobe CC 2014 PPro is FAR better in performance while editing...MANY important updates have been made....CS 6 is getting a little old, and out of date...better to use the current version for MANY reasons.
    2. The laptop will ALWAYS need to be plugged in while editing...PPro will be throttled if you try and use it on battery, no matter HOW you set the power options.
    3. A good starting point for a laptop would be to get at LEAST what Bill and I have,or, BETTER.   That means a Windows machine, running Windows 8.1, having an Intel 4700HQ i7 CPU, or, better.  System memory, ( including your own upgrade , if necessary) of at least 24 GB....preferably 32GB. An NVidia discreet graphics card, ( NO AMD ), the 765M, or, better. Drive system....this is IMPORTANT....this is the one area where many users have a "bottleneck". Your "C" drive should be a fast SATA III SSD with the correct controller and type of flash memory for handling video.  Only the Crucial M550,or, the Samsung Pro series are recommended....the Crucial is cheaper and only slightly behind in performance. Either one BLOWS AWAY a conventional HDD.....transferring data read and write at almost 600MB/sec. vs. 130MB/sec. using the best HDD. Your second internal drive should be ANOTHER of the recommended SSDs. You COULD use a larger capacity 7200rpm HDD,but, its slow performance can slow things way down. This means having a high speed external port is also valuable...Thunderbolt is better than USB 3, in that regard. External drives can be used to backup your "D" drive and other tasks. Finally, a 1080p screen is a MUST to see the whole user interface of PPro....17.3" is better than the smaller displays, which are hard to see. You can ALWAYS hook up an external display, like I do, to GREATLY improve the editing experience .
I hope all this helps !!!...good luck !!!

  • Is 96 kbps good enough for iTunes Match?

I have a pretty large music collection (20,000) but in order to save space I converted it all to 96 kbps. My question is whether or not that is good enough for iTunes Match? I've seen some people who haven't had any problems with 96 kbps but Apple says that it has to be above 96 kbps. I just want to know which one it is.
    Thanks

No. 96 Kbps songs are not supported by iTunes Match.

  • Is the MacBook Pro 13 inch good enough?

Is the non retina  MacBook Pro 13 core i5 with 4g of ram good enough for nonprofessional  video editing  making apps surfing the web watching videos ? Or can I get a MacBook Air 13 inch ? is these two good  enough for what I want ? And what is the difference between them and the MacBook Pro 13 inch core i7 with 8g of ram ? Is it a big difference between them ? Which one of these three you advice me to go with ?

That will work fine. I would eventually stick 8G of RAM in it though. I have 8G in mine and have run low and started paging out already. Safari and Flash are big RAM hogs.
