Is my replacement iPhone 5 refurbished?

I had my iPhone 5 since it came out. I took really could care of it, but recently I had an issue with it and the Apple Genius told me they would replace the device as I had applecare. I asked the genuis whether the replacement would be a refurb to which he replied no and assured me that Apple doesn't replace iPhone's refurbed. However after coming home and searching online, I found out that Apple MAY replace your device with a refurb. I did a serial number decoding on the Chipmunk site or whatever and the iPhone I currently have was made in February 2014. Can this mean that it was remanufactured on February 2014? Thoughts? I am extremely upset that I may have been lied too, and honestly I would not have gone through the replacement if I knew the phone could be a refurb.

Well, I paid $700 for the phone and I dont expect it to be a broken phone. I do not now where its been or who had it.
Neither does Apple that is why they get refurbished.
And why do you say refurbished phones are better than new?
It hs already been thru an inspection (when it was first built).
Then parts are replaced and it is completely reinspected. There are people who will not buy anything brand new and only buy refurbished.

I am facing lot of issues with my iphone 3gs.Please i request you guys dont buy any apple products here.its waste.I bought my iphone one moth back when i use GPRS(internet ) on my phone .it will shut down and gets heated.Went to imagine(Authorised apple service center)they said will replace the phone when i went to collect the phone they said it a new one when i check the connector it was having all dust in it.WHEN I ASKED THEN AGAIN THEY SAY ITS  A NEW PRODUCT.HOW COME A NEW PRODUCT HAS DUST COLLECTED IN CONNECTOR DOCK.
Replace the phone with a brand new phone.

There should be no way to tell.  The dealer/store shouldn't know either.  It should be good as new.
The warranty clearly states that it can be a refurb unit.  You have no say in the matter.

  • Has anyone ever managed to get a 'new' iphone 4 replacement, not refurbished!

Gone through 3 'replacements' now. First (original) had an antenna problem, the second one had pixel issues and the present one has awful, truly awful battery drainage! Enough is enough! Getting tired of all this. Has someone ever managed to get a new iphone 4 replacement which is 'new' and not been refurbished? I was told last time after complaining to the apple care CS that the express service they provide doesn't use 'refurbished' iphones and has a seperate stock. But thats obviously not true since the 'express' one has turned out to be a dod as well!
No chance in **** I am getting another apple product in the future...

Thanks. I've read the warranty terms and other threads on here regarding it but I wanted to know if someone HAD personally gone through something similiar and escalated the matter to the higher CS at AppleCare. If yes, did you get a different result and what was it? Thing is the last time this happened and I got send my present 'replacement' iphone 4 (one with current battery issues), I fell for the whole 'Express Service' (which apparently doesn't use refurbished iphones). This seems a blatant lie since I find it hard to believe that a new phone would have such serious battery issues. Have I just been really unlucky or is this a common theme with replacements?
Would be interesting to know the views of anyone who received a 'refurbished' replacement and is still going strong. Or anyone who has actually managed to speak to the higherups at AppleCare? (people who would think twice before lying to your face since the CS I've spoken to say anything to end the call).

  • Are replacement iPhone's new or refurbished?

My iPhone 5 developed a fault and was replaced in store, the replacement came in a unbranded brown box.
Could anyone tell me if it would have been a new or refurbished phone?
    Thanks

Replacement iPhones are not mass manufactured.  They are built by a trained & certified technician.  Every component is new, however, with the possible exception of the camera and the processor, which may be reclaimed parts from previous units.  All components are checked & inspected prior to assembly, and the final assembled product is also quality checked.  This is a higher level of inspection that happens to any mass produced iPhone.
Therefore, replacement iPhones have gone through a higher standard of quality control than a 'new' iPhone.  In some rare cases, you may end up getting a new iPhone from the assembly line, but that's usually only if there are no remanufactured devices available.

  • Replaced iPhones in India were Refurbished ones?

  • Could I get another replacement iPhone 4?

I recently got my replacement iPhone 4 about a month ago. I have about a 30 day warranty left from my previous phone. I don't like the way my replacement(refurbished) phone runs. For example sometimes the screen goes from bright to low. I keep it on the low setting. Also the keyboard is slow even writing this out right now. Also apps like safari randomly close. I only have about 20 apps and 130 pics and nothing else.
Could I get another replacement iPhone for this replacement iPhone?
I just don't want to get suck with a phone that doesn't work before my warranty runs out.
    Please help me out!

So you can only get a hardware replacement, when the issue present is caused by problems with the hardware. Your issue specifically, is software related and will require troubleshooting to fix. With that being said, if your problems are similiar to the ones you were having on your old phone, restoring from a backup will generally contain the same problem.
I would go ahead and restore the device as new and troubleshoot / test in it's at most factory default to confirm you have yourself a wonderful working phone.
Side note: A refurb phone is generally 100 times better than a brand new phone as it has been tested and thoroughly gone over before placing into your greesy apple hands.

  • Replacement iPhone 4?

    Hello people/users,
My replacement iphone is going to be deliver tomorrow (monday) and not sure if its refurb or new?
Apple emailed me and said that they shipped a replacement iphone 4 etc but they didnt mention if its new or not?
Will i get new or refurbished? I dont really care, i have done research about refurbished iphone and they said its better than the new.
    thanks

As it was said, there is no difference between the brand new and a refurb.
Something to keep in mind. All refurb iphone have been thoroughly tested to ensure that there will be no problem when they go out to the costumer. I've replaced a few times, and sure enough, there is no way to tell whether it is new or refurb, but I will tell you this, even the refurb iphone is as clean as the new ones.

  • How many replacement iPhones until they give a new one

I have had many replacement iphone 4's from apple. Everytime if get a refurbished one it has problems and i havent had any luck with them. How many refurbished iphones until they let me have a new one?

In Denmark we get new one, if the first one is broken. Thats besures the can't make them for Apple. I Think after 3 times the try to make your iPhone, the have to give you a new one or give back your monet.
Dó you not in your country have a place where costumer have a Place to make complint of product, and there help you out against Big Companys ??

  • Replacement iPhone from Apple used?

I had to send my iPhone in for repair because I kept receiving a message saying:
"This accessory is not made to work with iPhone
Would you like to turn on Airplane Mode to reduce audio interference? You will not be able to make or receive calls.
    Yes or No"
Apple decided that the phone couldn't be fixed so they sent me a new one. Today I received my replacement from Apple, and it appears that they sent me a used iPhone. The current call timer shows 1 hour, 1 minute of use and the lifetime timer show 4 hours and 37 minutes. Quite a bit of data has been used as well: Sent 2.3MB Received 9.9MB. The Statistics were last reset on 1/17/08. The model # is MA712LL so I know that this is supposed to be a new phone and not a refurb. When did Apple start sending out used phones for replacements? ***?

    hexonxonx,
The receipt should have said your replacement iPhone is covered by the original warranty or 90-days whichever is longer.
That is to give you some coverage for the replacement, even if your warranty was about to run out. This is the same as the iPods, or any other repair Apple does on an Apple product.
For example, if you had your iPhone for 11 months, and had it replaced by Apple at that point. You have 1 month of the original warranty left. However, the replacement has 90 days of coverage. The 90 days being longer, that would be the coverage that would apply if you had an issue 60 days after it was replaced.
Any part, or in the case of an iPhone or iPod that is replaced, will either be new or refurbished. The refurbishment process more closely resembles remanufacturing as I personally understand it. Instead of taking the time to do a physical repair on an iPhone or iPod, it is replaced with a service replacement. This allows a 3-5 business day turn around from the time FedEx picks up your iPhone to go to the repair depot. It also allows a 15 minute turn around at the Genius Bar for "repair." The defective one is sent back to the factory. There it is dissassembled, and each component individually tested. Components that pass testing are used in "refurbished" units that are then assembled. The back is new, and has a new serial number.
If there are not sufficient parts available, new parts are used instead. If there is not sufficient parts to even do that, new units are used instead.
There is no way to tell after it has left the factory whether it is a refurbished unit, or a new unit that has been packaged in the service replacement packaging. The packaging for service units tends to be smaller, because it will be the iPhone only.
As for the timer showing any values it is either due to restoring your old profile, or it may have come on during shipment.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • How much would it be to replace iPhone 4 with phone warranty?

Ok I just drop my phone trying to run to catch the bus. I had a case but it didn't work....I don't have the apple warranty I have the 1 year warranty I got from sprint...
How much do you think the copay would be? My mom says she doesnt want tofux the phone herself because it voids the warranty and she said something about sensors in the phone and apple can track whether I opened my phone.

    Hey !
Sorry for ur broken iphone. The best thing is to go to apple store and talk to them.Tell them this is the very first time it had happened to you. they will replace the phone for free as a one time courtesy. They did mines and my friend phone for free. as far as sprint warranty, i am not really sure what warranty covers. usually they charge you around $200 to replace the iphone but thats for insurance not the warranty. Your mom is right about the sensors. It is kind of hard to replace iphone 4 screen because the digitizer and lcd are attached to each other with glue i guess. I tried replacing one for my friend and ended up messing the iphone. Your best bet is to try apple store if they refuse which I believe they wont than you can go through sprint or buy a screen from ebay and get a certified tech to put it on for u. That will cost you less money but you will void the sprint warranty but to be honest with you. They wont find out if you had replaced the screen or not. Good luck

  • When I open Mail the screen flickers random blue and gray appeared on the screen. I took a video too. Will that happen again? Is it hardware problem? This ipad2 32GB was replaced yesterday and I think it is refurbished. Are replace product refurbished?

I got my ipad2 replaced yesterday. And this new ipad started giving me problem by crashing aps. Then I restored the ipad twice but the problem was still there. I called apple and they fixed it by doing Reset All Settings. But now I have this weird problem. When I open Mail the screen flickers random blue and gray appeared on the screen. I took a video too. Will that happen again? Is it hardware problem? This ipad2 32GB was replaced yesterday and I think it is refurbished. Are replace product refurbished?

There is no way for anyone here to know if your replacement iPad is a refurbished unit.  Per Apple's replacement policy, replacements can be refurbished units.  If you feel the unit is not working correctly, take it back, let them check it out and if found defective, they will replace that unit.

  • My photos on my replacement iphone won't download from icloud

I had to get my iPhone 4s replaced & before going to the Apple Store, I did an iCloud backup. When I got my replacement iPhone, everything was transferred onto the new phone. When I went home, my pictures said "downloading". (I only had 366 photos) So I let my phone sit for a few hours, thinking the pictures would download. Well, they never did and my phone has been saying "downloading" on my pictures for 6 days now. Does anybody know what to do and could help me?

    Hello Kteko,
Connecting your iPhone to a power source and connecting to a Wi-Fi network can help complete the process.
After your settings and accounts are restored, your device restarts and begins downloading your purchased music, movies, TV shows, apps, books, Camera Roll, and other content. You can use your device normally during this time, but if you receive an alert or are having trouble completing the restore, connect your device to a power source and make sure that it's connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi. Then wait until your device is restored to use it.

  • Just had replacement iPhone 4S but my music won't download?

Just had replacement iPhone 4S but my music won't download? All my purchased albums are showing on iTunes Store and my iPad but won't download onto new iphone. I just bought another album on my phone and that won't download either. My phone is on IOS 6.1.3 iPad is on IOS 7.0.4

You can try resetting your iPhone by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

  • Replacement iphone - trying to restore from backup, but iOS v 6 running and won't update from recent backup

Replacement iphone - trying to restore from backup, but iOS v 6 running and won't update from recent backup. How do I ensure I get all my photos etc onto new phone?
    Thanks

If you're old phone that was repalced was a higher version of iOS, it wont be able to restore. Update your iPhone to the lastest iOS 7.0.4 and try to restore it then.

  • Replacement iphone 3gs problem

Replacement iphone 3gs came with iOS 6.0 but on initial set up i am told to use my iCloud i need 6.1.3 onwards. Cannot update iOS as cannot get past the set up stage. Need to recover my 800 odd photos somehow. Do i go the iTunes route on set up? Will this help me to find my photos or do i have to set up with the cloud? Help if you can. Thanks

You couldn't have restored your old backup because in order to do so you have to be running the same or higher version of iOS on your replacement phone.  Since it's running iOS 6.0 in can't restore a backup made on a phone runnin 6.1.3 until it's updated, which is why you got that message.
Update your replacement phone to the latest iOS (7.0.4) by following the directions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4623.  After it's updated, go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, then go through the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup and follow the prompts, choosing the backup of your old phone to restore from.  Be sure your phone is connected to wifi and your charger as it is restoring the backup.
