I wonder if anyone know about the third party software that does not adhere to security settings and what degree of security breech that render the publication unsafe, I only meant to secure my animated sequence in swf not the action script, I know screen capture can record all activity but I will make it troublesome to delay if not deter from piracy.
I can't understand why we pay thousands and didn't get protected by software developer.

While you may think I am shallow by asking for something that is not possible, I choose to publish it free of charge and paid by sponsorships. Wonder if anyone has dealt with this issue before. I have a catalog that is 170 pages long, filled with .jpgs, .pngs, and a few .psd's. I need to make a .swf with hyperlinks
on each of the 1500 images,
If I export the whole thing as a pdf, then make a new file with the flattened pdf, then draw rectangles bounding boxes attached to hyperlinks around each image, would that make my .swf
considerable smaller for load time online. Or should linking the original files images individually be the way to go. Guess I am asking if there would be any difference in file size.
Just wanted to get some insight before embarking on this tedious task.

I hope you won't see this as rude, but what you are missing is the obvious point that Adobe are in business to make money. So they put as little in Adobe Reader as they can, so people are motivated to buy stuff. Every development intended for Reader has severe limitations on feasibility and techniques for this reason; it's a huge (but very common) mistake to just develop for Acrobat and assume Reader will follow.

I have some questions on Adobe forms and any help would be greatly appreciated.
1. Is there a way to save the PDF that into my desktop from the "PDF Prview" tab of the Form builder (tcode: SFP) ?
2. I currently do not have ADS installed on the server but I am still able to see the preview perfectly. From Help documentation and other SDN posts what I understood is , ADS is used to converted the Form to XML data so that the ABAP program can work on the data of the form. But is ADS also repsonsible for Rendering the PDF onto screen?

You should be able to save your from from preview, because the "rendering engine" lies in the Adobe reader + LiveCycle designer. You don´t need ADS to do this for you at designtime. Of course if you would like to use the form, "print" it from SAP, then you definitely need to have ADS installed/ configured.
ADS is used for both way:
a) the form exists as a template XML file (this is what you save in SAP), for example a XDP file (what you can save from LCD to try out) and the data coming from the ABAP program (according to the interface structure) as a XML as well. The ADS merges these two files into one and then renders a PDF "around" it.
b) if you have a form with internal structure (not only a printform, must be at least dynamic or interactive) and data filled in this form, then you send the PDF file to ADS which split the file into two - the PDF envelope which is thrown away and the XML data file (like the one you send into the form generation process at a) phase) which is returned.
Is that enough?

I am hoping others in the community have some experience with protecting their Captivate output (EXE and SWF files) from piracy. We will be selling our eLearning products developed with Captivate through our online store and want to protect them against file sharing and other forms of piracy. I have found several companies online offering DRM (digital rights management) and SAS (software activation services) that require users to enter a license key to use the products. I am looking for any recommendations from users who have implemented these types of services. What provider did you use and what issues did you encounter. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Most of the tools I have seen are geared towards extracting
resources from swf's. I use one myself (eltima.com) for
"harvesting" manufacturers content for my motorcycle dealers. They
are authorized to use this content, but finding someone at Yamaha
of Kawasaki or any of the majors who even knows where to find these
resources is next to impossible. I have also used it to learn from
by viewing scripts, but as you say, at the end of the day, I think
the concepts and best practices are about the only thing worth
taking away from others efforts, not the code.
Unlocking a protected file can be done as well and I remember
using a product over a year ago to get at the scripts within an swf
(I wanted the URL's that pointed to media - it was legal for me to
do this). It ran from the command line and output the scripts.
There aren't too many of these types of programs to be found, but
they exist.
My personal opinion is that it's not worth the effort. My
java classes can be decompiled and if someone wants to go to that
trouble, more power to them. To my knowledge, there isn't anything
out there yet that is perfect for backwards engineering an swf into
an MXML file, but a competitor of FLASH Decompiler says that they
can decompile Adobe 9 PLAYER swf's. For what it's worth, I plan on
posting the majority of my code on my flexdev.org site once I get
it established.
For people who make components for sale, this could be an
issue of stolen revenue if the decompilers get sophisticated enough
to reverse engineer the swc into a usable MXML file. I would be
against anyone who stole code for this purpose, for sure.

Ahh, but that's the design function of any PDF viewer add-on to a browser.
To avoid -- Use the browser feature that saves a file to the local machine.
Then open the file with the appropriate application.
If your machine/device does not support this then you'd want to change to one that supports what you want eh.

I'm still learning applescript, but I need a good one really quickly. I have several images that I need to save as PDF. Is there a way to do this through applescript? It will save me many, many hours of work over the next month.

Well i have 2 ways to do that, i did one action from photoshop that will get the image inside folder and will convert this image in pdf. Abouve the line of script
that you have to attach to folder action and the action for Photoshop.
About the action for Photoshop give me your email address and I send you, or do it your self. You have to do this: open one image in JPG, go to action, go new set, put your name of set, put the name of action if you like you can change the name, go print with preview, print and set save as PDF close your file and stop the action.
Now that you have to do is put all your files inside your folder and leave the Photoshop do it for you, ok?

Trying to open swf files from cd-rom

I'm trying to open some swf files from a cd-rom. I have
downloaded flash player for my mac OSX version 9,0,115,0 but it
wont do anything when I double click the files. The darn thing
keeps trying to open as a powerpoint presentation and wont
recognize flash player as an option. I'm really not sure what I'm
supposed to be doing with this to view to cd-rom files.

I use iMac desktop. I can't save web pages as PDF file by using Firefox, but by Safari is fine.

I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.4. Today, I tried to save my email content as a PDF file. However, I only got a PDF file that have partial content of email. Then I adjust the printer setting and did it again, then I only got a blank PDF file. There was nothing inside. Then I tried to save email as a PDF file by using Safari browser. And I got a complete and sucessful PDF file. I usually save web pages or web mail, online receipt as PDF file by use Firefox. But since I have updated to the new version, there were many problems with my Firefox. I tried to restore all my application and made Firefox in the old 3.6.3 version which I used to have no problem. But now still not working.

I solved it for myself: it was my HP smart-web printer crap that was a plug in and add on for firefox that somehow automatically got installed when I upgraded to 5. I disabled both in the add-ons manager, and voila, printing is working.
It seems there are many things, like this and the Google toolbar, that were screwed by the oddly fast update to 5. Looks like Mozilla didn't give anybody any notice! Must've been some really bad security hole.
