Is my videocard an MSI?

Hello,
I bought a new assembled computer. I ordered it with a MSI GeForce FX5200-T128 videocard. Recently I opened the case and found out that the card is GREEN (not red) and much bigger than the card shown on the MSI homepage. Windows XP does not recognise the card if the drivers are not installed. After I instal them the card works properly
The card looks exactly like a FX5200-TD128 (MS8911) but without the DVI connector and the memory chips above the cooler.
I thought all the MSI videocards are red - am I wrong? How can I be sure I've got the card I payed for?
Thank you in advance!

Also, if you look at the part number on the card in white ink, it may show a MS-XXXX number, then you'll know it is an MSI card.

  • MSI GAMING 9 AC

Hello, im spanish my english is really bad. But ill try post a question about this motherboard, recently i bought one and all work fine.
Except the SLI this isn't work, Nvidia panel tell me what i have 2 videocards and MSI afterburner too, but i cant see it in options.
The problem is what this both videocards " msi nvidia 670 gtx power edition " was working in sli in another pc, but here with this motherboard i cant.
    the videocards are the same.
    Thanks in advance.

have you enables SLI (Set SLI Configuration) in the Nvidia control panel under 3D settings?
can you download GPU-Z and take a screen shot of it please for both cards so i can see if there is a reason it will not work there? (GPU-Z is a free program that just gets data on Graphics Cards)

  • Booting problem / memory clock change

I changed memory/core clock under MSI Clock tab in Display properties and now Windows XP starts on a black screen. For instance, I reduced the memory/core clock and the problem appeared. It´s because a week ago I raised the memory/core clock and some gif or jpeg images had some spots, then I reduced the frequency to fix it and at the first reboot the new problem of the black screen appeared.
The videocard is MSI FX5200-TD128, motherboard Athlon AMD K7M, PSU is ATX500W, OS Windows XP.
    Thank you.

What you want to do is not possible with the memory that you have, so buy some memory that cope with what you are trying to do.
That's not MSI fault that you would want to use a 300mhz HTT with memory that is rated to work at 200mhz DDR...but that is just my opinion
    Be well....
Ehhhhhh???? Didn't he state that he had a problem running his memory on a LOWER frequency? What kind of memory is having a problem running at a LOWER speed??? /Me just don't get it....

  • Difficulty seating atx 24 pin & atx 12v on eclipse

I ran into a bit of a snag while connecting the atx 24 pin and the atx 12v power connectors to my eclipse mobo. They dont seem to want to seat properly. Im using a corsair 750 watt power supply and I cant detect any defects in the male and female parts. Im afraid if I push any harder im gonna crack the mobo. Has anyone else experienced this as well? I had to RMA the board already because of that damn d-led 2 not working and the no posting crap everyone seems to be dealing with. You would think if your throwing down 350 bucks the least MSI could do is check their product before they ship it.

Thanks for the input. Since my mobo's  on R.M.A. it makes me feel better knowing other folks have a grasp on this problem. Hopefully When my board comes back it will actually start up instead of just light up. I kinda jumped the gun as far as sentencing my mobo to R.M.A. status. Ive had several videocards from MSI that haven't had a problem so this really shakes my confidence in the company when I spend close to $400 dollars for a board that won't start.
I have faith that MSI will honor its components. I hope they don't prove me wrong.

  • P6N Diamond and Wolfdale E8400 Decision

I recently built a new machine with the Intel Wolfdale E8400 processor, 2 sticks of 2GB (5-5-5-18) OCZ Reaper DDR2800 RAM and the P6N Diamond motherboard. I thought that since the motherboard supported
Core 2 Duo and a 1333 MHz FSB that surely it must support the Wolfdale.
Silly me. Initially my system locked up and rebooted with artifacts whenever I tried to run 3D Mark 05. At first I blamed my new videocard, the MSI NX8800GT and RMA'd it. Since I got back the same card I sent, the problem must not have
    been the graphics card.
Sure enough, it turned out that I hadn't plugged in 8 pin ATX12V connector! I thought that surely the 24 pin 12V connector would be enough, right? How the system even POST-ed on my first attempt I don't know. Once I fixed that, the system was able to run 3DMark 05 without locking up and rebooting. I then played Oblivion for about an hour with all the settings cranked up ( 1920 x 1200 x 32 w/ everything set to high but no AA ).
Then I noticed that under 'System Properties', Windows only listed 2.5 GB of RAM when I had 4GB of RAM.
I was aware of the 32-bit Windows XP RAM limitation and expected to see at least 3 GB.
I then found out that the latest BIOS 1.3 could fix the  problem.  After the BIOS update and loading the fail-safe defaults, I reran 3D Mark 05 and sure enough it hung and reboot (this time with no artifacts.)
I set Windows to not reboot on system error so I could actually see a BSOD if there was one, but the BSOD would flash on the screen too fast before the system rebooted.
I then cleared the BIOS, re-loaded fail-safe defaults in BIOS, and reinstalled Windows.  Windows then reported 3.0 GB of RAM and the machine finally completed a run of 3D Mark 05 without locking up and rebooting.
    I learned 2 lessons there:
    1) Don't update your BIOS unless there's something REAAAALLY wrong
    with your system and
    2) If you do, make sure to clear your BIOS afterward.
Then I decided to try Prime 95.  I selected 'Blended Tests' and a few seconds later the machine would again lock up and reboot. It was at this point that I decided to send the MSI support people a message.
My response was that the P6N Diamond does NOT support the Wolfdale E8400 processor.
Anandtech.com even says that it does!!!
A coworker of mine has his machine working with the EXACT SAME PROC AND MOBO!!!!!
I tried underclocking the FSB to 1066 MHz, which reduced the proc to 2.4GHz and the DDR2-800 memory to 533MHz and Prime 95 ran overnight.
Just when I was about to give up hope and try to sell the 'officially incompatible' P6N Diamond, I stumbled onto a forum thread involving the P6N Platinum.  Apparently, someone with a similar problem with the P6N Diamond
figured out that if he increased the voltages (CPU to +0.0250, Memory to 1.85 V, NB Voltage to 1.35, SB Voltage to 1.55 V and FSB VTT to 4%) then the system would be stable.
On a lark, I tried those settings and now the system is stable at 3.0 GHz and a 1333 MHz FSB and my DDR2-800 running at 667MHz.
Overall it seems as if I am having to overclock my system just to get it to run at STOCK speeds!!!!
This doesn't seem right given that other overclockers are getting at least 3.6 GHz with their Wolfdales.
Should I try the P7N Diamond?

a problem with a power supply with multiple rails and passed on a recommendation
that for the sake of simplicity, a PSU with a single rail was best.
The PSUs with multiple rails seem to involve more care in plugging in components as far making sure that
the parts are getting the right amount of current(?)

  • MSI K8N SLI Platinum crashed with my videocard

Hi. I don't speak english very vell, so sorry
A bought an MSI K8N SLI Platinum mainboard, 7800 GTX Videocard and I don't know use it with NON SLI mode   If the SLI card there in NON-SLI mode, my pc isn't run. Just black screen, and the D-Bracket is show, that the booting is stopped in memory-control (second LED is red.) If I turn my SLI card for SLI mode, accordingly the PCI-E bus is 8x and my PC is run.
My problem is that, that I don't know run my pc in PCI-E x16
I tried 6 BIOS, but always was this is the problem

First, search the internet for a free translater program and cut n paste.  Second, you need to place the graphics card in the pcie slot next to the cpu.  Third, you need to make sure the SLI switch card is placed "non-sli" with the arrow pointed towards the graphics card.  Finally, you need to make sure your SLI switch card is fully in place so the copper teeth dont show (I made that mistake and my rig didnt boot either).  Just my 2 cents.
    1st -- ok
2nd - the video card is there next to the cpu in 1st PCI-E bus
3rd -- the SLI switch card is placed non-sli with the arrow pointed towards the graphics card.
fin --- well, i have no idea about this, 'couse after i've removed the card, i could not push it back to its place fully anymore, so the copper teeth show up. I also tried to force it with a screwdriver, but it didn't work. but i can turn on the card holder

  • MSI Z68A-GD65 (G3) videocard running @ 8x instead of 16x

    MSI Z68A-GD65 (G3) bios v23.4b4
Videocard MSI GTX 580 Lightning Xtreme Edition 3072MB 290.36 beta drivers tryed other ones as well still the same.
Asus Xonar Essence STX Sound Card this is pcie and is in the other blue videocard slot could this be the reason why my card is not running at 16x

Ok what ive done now is fit my videocard in the second blue 16x slot and put my soundcard in the pcie 3 and it still says its running at 8x will remove the soundcard and report back.
Edit:videocard is back in pcie2 running 16x but now i cant fit the soundcard in pcie1 cpu heatsink gets in the way,pcie3 is covered by the videocard as it takes up 2 slots amd pci34 the videocards fans come into contact when the soundcard is installed there.
After spending £140 on a pcie soundcard i would need to get a pci one and thats not going to happen so ill have to run @8x
Panic over all running ok now installed the soundcard in pcie3 and moved the bracket over just enough to miss the fans on the videocard.

  • MB RS480M2 will not boot with MSI videocard R5450

I purchased R5450 vidocard via internet, put it on MB RS480M2 and the latter did not boot afterwards.
(Tried everything). (It worked in another computer.....)
I cannot sent it back: waited to long.
Is there something with my BIOS?
I have the latest official BIOS:   V3.9
What can I do: I expected that a PCI-E card from MSI should fit on a MSI MotherBoard with a PCI-E slot.
    Can anyone help me?
    Kind regards: LGM

Yep, problem is the PCI Express x 16 slot which supports only PCI Express Bus specification v1.0a on RS480M2.

  • Problems with MSI R5670 Videocard?

    Hey there,
I bought a new computer a month ago and several weeks and trips to the shop later I still cannot use it :/
The problem is that after 5-15 minutes of starting to play the game frozes and a message from Windows pops up: El controlador de pantalla dejó de responder y se recuperó (my translation is: the screen drivers stopped answering and they've been restarted successfully).  Then I need to restart the game/the computer.
I took the computer back to the shop and he sent the videocard to the main supplier, who claims that tested it and is working properly (I say claim that tested it because I live in Argentina and Ive sadly learnt to not trust anyone... maybe they just put it in a computer saw that it was working and declared it ok whithout actually trying to play any games which is with the only thing Im having troubles).
Ive already tried to reinstall drivers and I was wondering if anyone has any other ideas because the guy that sold me the computer claims that it has to be the videocard but I am not all that sure and I am tired of waiting... I really want to start using my new computer! :(
The specs of my computer are:
    AMD Phenom II x4 965 processor 3.40GHz
    Motherboard ASUS M4A87TD
BIOS Version American Megatrend 1005, 24/08/2010
    Memory 4Gb DDR Kingston 1333
    Videocard ATI Radeon HD 5670
Hardrive: 500Gb I do not know the brand
    Monitor: Viewsonic VG2021m
    Windows Professional 7 64bits
    Direct X10 installed

I didnt dare to build it... the last one was a huge pain because since I do this once every two/three years I always find new slots and what not and makes me very nervous.
The shop is responsible but I dont think they are compentent enough: since I bought the computer I took it to their shop four times and a month later Im having the same issues.  They said that on monday they'll buy a new videocard from their own pocket but What if is not the videocard?  Then I'll have to go back to the shop once more and I am sick of coming and going (I dont have a car and there's also the extra detail that every time I travel with my computer to the shop there's a chance of being stolen)
That's why although it is true that they are responsibles for this I'll try to point them out in the right direction.
My power supply... mmm I'll have to open my CPU to see that... I dont think is an overheating problem because this case has a temperature controller and by the time of the crash the temperature was of 40ºC (104 F)
If you think that knowing which PSU I have will help I'll open it, but I'll need a few minutes...

  • MSI Z87 MPOWER Not displaying through Videocard

I cant seem to get my motherboard to recognize and display through my graphics card. I have a MSI N770 Lightning GeForce GTX 770 which light up and seems to be getting enough power but never displays anything to the monitor. I have tried the card in a friends desktop and it ran just fine which leads me to think its the board causing the issue. My Specs are as follows.
PSU: CORSAIR HX Series HX750 750W
    Mobo: MSI Z87 MPOWER
CPU:  Intel Core i7-4770K Haswell 3.5GHz LGA 1150
    RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3
    OS: Windows 8 Pro 64-bit
    SSD: OCZ Vertex 4 VTX4-25SAT3-128G
HD: Western Digital WD Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM
    CASE: Corsair Vengeance Series C70
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have already tried switching out the PSU with a more powerful unit (850w) to no avail. Everything runs fine though while running my friends GeForce GTX 560 Ti .

I don't believe any pins where bent during socketing, and I really don't want to mess with that unless I absolutely have to. It runs perfectly fine with my friends older card. I just installed a higher wattage power supply (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139034. Re-installed the card and attempted to boot up, which sadly it failed to to post and showing d6 on the mobo with the new card installed and hooked up correctly.
Could there be a compatibility error between the card and the board? Like I said the card ran well in my friends rig (comparable to mine just using a different mobo), The machine runs fine with the older (http://us.msi.com/product/vga/N560GTX-Ti-Twin-Frozr-II-OC.html card installed. But Never displays anything or gives signal to the monitor.

  • New system, MSI X800XT PCI-E Issues

    Hi there!
I just bought a new motherboard, new ram, new cpu and new videocard and was eagerly wanting to set this stuff up.
My system is now as follows:
    Motherboard: MSI 925X Neo-54G
    CPU: P4 3.40Ghz (1 Mb L2 Cache) (Socket 775)
    RAM: 1 GByte DDR2 533
    Video Card: MSI RX800 XT-VTD256 (ATI Radeon X800XT PCI-E)
I put everything up and working and installed Windows XP w/ SP2. Installed every driver needed from the motherboard CD, went to ATI's site and downloaded the latest Catalyst Drivers, etc.
After having everything apparently working as it should, I downloaded 3dMark 2005 to see how it went. I had never used the 2005 version before so I wasn't too shocked to see it only got like 3200 points although I was kinda suspicious after seeing some of the tests going at like 1 fps.
I went back to another PC I have at home (a socket 478, P4 3.0Ghz, Asus P4C800 mobo, 1 GByte DDR400 Ram and a GeForce 6800 Ultra). Ran 3dMark 2005 and to my amazement, it got like 4400 points.
Well, double checked everything on the catalyst control panel (nothing really useful there)... then went back to the BIOS setup to investigate what is not working as it should. MSI boards have that nifty Dynamic Overclocking thing and so I turned it on. My BIOS settings are now as following (only listing settings I have doubts on):
DDR2 533 (Dual Channel Mode Enabled)
    DRAM Timing Selectable: By SPD
    Memory Hole: Disabled
PCI Express Root Port Func: Auto on all 4 ports
    PCI-E Compliance Mode: v1.0a
    DRAM Data integrity mode: Non-ECC
    PCI IDE Busmaster: Enabled (I have a 250GB 8MB SATA HD,fyi)
    Init Display First: PCI-E
    Maximum Payload Size (PCI-E): 4096
High performance mode: Optimized (Manual is the other option)
    Dynamic Overclocking: 5% (0-15% range)
    Adjust DDR Frequency: Auto
    Auto Detect PCI Clock: Enabled
    Spread Spectrum: Disabled
    CPU Clock: 200Mhz
    CPU Voltage: By CPU default
    Memory Voltage: 1.8v
    AGP/PCI-E Voltage: 1.5v
Ok, so, can anyone tell me what is wrong (if anything)? I mean, I think this PC should be faster than my other one...
I'm not really interested in overclocking and I am really convinced this hardware should be able to beat my other one easily with default operating status.
Also, I tested this PC's performance with Rome: Total War and it is just as 3dMark had showed, it performs worse than the other pc I mentioned, with the same exact settings.
    Any help please?
    Regards!

  • MSI NEW P.E. Series Video Card - GTX670 Power Edition 2GD5/OC with Twin Frozr 4

Glad to be back in the forum and I was been busy for awhile. By this time lots of PC hardware already came out especially from Nvidia. Just like today my share would be MSI's N670GTX PE 2GD5/OC video card.
First of all lets talk about the GTX670 GPU chip. This GPU is the younger sibling of GTX680 which uses the same 28nm GK104 chip but with one disabled shader cluster/core.The reference or standard GPU clock is 915Mhz with a turbo boost of 980 and as for the memory is concerned, it has a 256bit memory bus connected to a 2GB GDDR5 memory with speed of 6008Mhz. Just like with any Kepler based architecture, the card would also have all the goodies like "Adaptive V-Sync", "AA TXAA (Temporal Super Sampling)", supports "DX11.1" and improved 3D Vision Surround.
Moving on, let's check out now what MSI did with their GTX670 SKU based video card. The card is under a new Series named "Power Edition" (series comparison table below) and it comes factory overclocked from GPU clock of 915MHz to 1020MHz and Turbo boost of 980Mhz to 1080Mhz. It also comes with the 4th version of Twin Frozr Thermal Cooling design with a theme color of Black and Blue which matches the color of MSI's midrange to high-end motherboards as well. The dual 8cm PWM fan based cooler are equipped with Propeller Fan Blades which draws air better and now has the so called "Dust Removal Technology", basically as you startup your PC the fan will rotate counter clockwise for 30 seconds clearing the dust from the cooling heatsink. Adding a finishing touch, MSI equipped the video card with their Military Class III components ensuring the best performance, efficiency, higher overclocks and durability.

    •Output: DisplayPort / HDMI / DL-DVI-I / DL-DVI-D
    •Total Draw Power: 200W
    •Card Dimension: 267x117x38mm
    •DirectX: DX 11.1
    •OpenGL: 4.2
    •PCI Express: 3.0
    •SLI: 3-Way Capable
•3D Vision Surround: 3 Output per Single Card
    •Pure Video HD: Y
    •HDCP: Y
•Minimum Power Requirement: 550W with 38A for the +12V Rail

The card is powered up by additional 2x 6Pin power connectors.
    Five 8mm thick heatpipes design
In the future, there might be a GTX670 4GB GDDR5 version as you can see the empty spaces between the GPU memory chips

  • MSI Geforce 4 ti 4200 8x 128mb problems

I have recently purchased a 128mb 8x GeForce 4 ti 4200 video card, and i am having great dificulty geting it to work properly. Here are my computer specs:
Motherboard: Abit KA7-100 (latest bios update installed)
    CPU        : Athlon Slot A 800Mhz
    Ram        : Crucial 512mb PC133
OS         : Windows XP Pro / Windows 2000 Pro (latest updates installed)
    DirectX    : 9
    Harddrives : 1 Segate SATA 120 GB
                 1 Western Digital 8mb cache 120GB
1 Western Digital 27GB ata 66 (boot drive)
                 2 Western Digital 40GB ata 100 drives
Here is my problem: I can install the drivers for the card just fine, but whenever i try to play a movie (avi, mpeg), 3d game (or any game that uses the 3D part of the card, my computer freezes. I've installed several different versions of nvidia drivers for the card on my computer, but the outcome is always the same. The 2D usage of the card works just fine, but whenever a 3D program/game tries to use the video card, the computer locks up. I have noticed this effect when I bought a GeForce FX card as well. My previos Vid card was a Visiontek GeForce 3 TI 200 which runs very well no matter what I use it for (and after the abuse i put it through too...  XD ).  I have tried about 5 different drivers for the ti 4200, and have had the same problems.
I'm currently going to upgrade my motherboard/cpu/ram next week, but I'm dumbfounded on why these newer cards do not work at all on my motherboard. If you can help me this would mean a lot to me.
My current mobo only goes up to agp 4x, but i hardly think that would cause the vid card to freeze whenever i try playing any 3d game.
Can someone help meh?   :D   thnx.

    Hi,
It's been posted a couple of times but since I don't see any success stories yet; here's my problem. I hope you guys can help me out. I have tried to specify the system as much as posible but let me know when more information is needed.
When I play 3D games (and sometimes when I leave my PC without screensaver or 'doing' something) my system locksup after a short time (sometimes after 10 seconds other times a few minutes)and the whole PC locksup, I can't even use ctrl+alt+del to get out. My PC is brand new.
Important! The problem does NOT excist as soon as I install a different videocard, being a a Radeon 9200. However I would like to use my MSI card as it's performance is better.
    Videocard: MSI MS-Starforce GeForce Ti4200 with GP8x (NVIDIA Geforce4 Ti4200 with AGP8x), driver version NVDIA 4.1.0.7, PCI-bus 1.
Motherboard: Asus P4C800 deluxe, Intel 875P Chipser, FSB 800MHz, Dual DDR 400.
    CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2800
    RAM: 1024MB
    OS: Win XP Pro SP1
HD: Maxtor 6Y120M0 120 GB (3 partitions), driver (Microsoft) version 5.1.2535.0
    Soundcard: Blaster Audigy 2
Tried; updated & downgraded drivers for videocard, Scandisk, Defrag, installed all updates from Windows Update, updated drivers soundcard.
