Is newsstand available in Canada? It doesn't do anything on my iPad.

IS Newsstand available in Canada? It is on my home page but nothing happens when I choose it. How does it work. Do I have to check any of my settings before it will work? I have a new iPad Air.

You should be able to access Newsstand publications in the Canadian iTunes Store. Try this step to browse and buy magazines:
To find and buy Newsstand magazines and newspapers, open Newsstand and tap Store. When you buy a Newsstand publication, it's added to your library and billed to your iTunes store account.
You can return to your Newsstand library from a magazine or newspaper by pressing the Home button. To arrange Newsstand magazines and newspapers, tap and hold the publications to arrange them in your library.
If you need help with a specific publication, go to the app's built-in Help or App Store listing.

IBooks author 2.1 available in Canada?

I just uploaded a completed book (IBA 2.0) to Apple's site, but they told me the book needs to be in IBA 2.1. However, this software download doesn't seem to be available in Canada?

thanks KT. The message came up at the end of the upload validation. Two 'problem' items were listed (one being the cover file was incorrect size). The actual message has disappeared, but it said the book needed to be in IBA 2.1. I just checked the file, and the book now seems to have uploaded (despite the wrong size cover?). Not sure what gives. Presumably IBA 2.1 is part of the Oct 21/13 announcement in which IBA will allow iBooks to be read on any Apple device? Note that my 'live online' date was Oct 22/13.

After today's announcement I'm wondering when this feature will be available in canada? They didn't mention which countries the textbook feature would be supported in, and after a quick look Canada doesn't as of right now.

Movies Now Available in Canada

In Movies:
- Trailers
- My Movies
What gives...I go on Itunes at my PC and I can rent, buy etc. and the movie info page says it's also available to buy/rent in HD from your Apple TV - No it isn't.
So, I rented a sample movie - didn't care what it was.... it's downloaded to my PC itunes...now I need to transfer it "MOVE" (as apple TV itunes text calls it)over to my Apple TV in itunes....so it's doing that now, and I'm typing this as I wait. (so hold on)
Ok, I'm back...My apple TV didn't show a thing different-until I got out of the apple tv movie section toggled around a bunch of times, checked for downloads - none... came back to movies - and the rented movie was there! yey! but where is everything else, the "top movies", "search", you know all the good stuff the canadians were going to get like the americans. Ah, yes, left the screen again, toggled around - did nothing really - then went back to movies and viola - all the bells and whistles are there.

If it's not available in your country and you do not have a copy of it in iTunes backed up on your computer, you don't.

I'm trying to complete my order. I'm on the site Lenovo Canada-English, and when I try to pass to the 3th tabs : Payment, I see that Error message : General note regarding shipping addresses:

but I can enter my canada adress in the form. Is it a bug or it's again a Lenovo system not available in Canada ?

if you're on the canadian site and seeing that error then it sounds like a bug. your quickest and easiest solution would be to call sales and purchase through a rep. let them know the website has a bug and it will be investigated and corrected.
if you still run into issues then please post your results and it can be looked into further.

HT3069 Can I purchase a TV show only available in Canada?

I am really addicted to a TV series that is only available in Canada. I was wondering if I can purchase the series and watch it on my ipod. It sent me to itunes Canada but won't let me purchase it. Wil it ever be available in the US or is there a way I can still purchase it. The name of the series is Heartland.

This is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Why are we not able to purchage a digital series from Canada? I found this because I had the same question. I did not understand why it would not let me purchase. Seems they would want us to buy it - makes more money for them.

Hi beep119: If you are looking to buy online, you need to go to the Apple Canada site. It is here: www.apple.com/ca I've ordered mine from there and it should be arriving on Monday or Tuesday. The local stores I have talked to suggest it may be 2 or more weeks before it is in the retali stores.

ITunes store item availability in Canada

I realize this isn't really the right place to ask this, but there is no where else to go! I want to buy a movie that is available only on the US iTunes store - not listed as available in Canada. My question is - can I get around this somehow (and I suspect the answer is no). As a supplementary query, I guess I want to know WHY I can't buy a movie in Canada.... Who makes these decisions and why?
And while I'm at it there seems to be no way to find out from iTunes (Canada) when or if a movie or TV show is going to be available. Anyone with any comments, suggestions?

Your suspicion is correct; no, you can't get around this. The content owners do not allow cross-border sales, so Apple is forced to restrict each country's iTunes Store to those in that country.
As a supplementary query, I guess I want to know WHY I can't buy a movie in Canada.... Who makes these decisions and why?
Whoever holds the distribution rights for Canada makes that decision, and the Canadian media companies have been notoriously reluctant to allow any US-based company access to sell content in Canada.

I am having a similar problem. Running Xp.
Latest revision of firefox.
After using firefox for a while if I exit, parent.lock is locked and i have to reboot to reload firefox.
I have killed all firefox applications from task manager (usually there are none). and I have tried 3 different "file unlock" programs including unlocker to no avail.
I also recently installed a program that shows -all- open files, and parent.lock is not listed, and thus not closable/unlockable from there.

Why does Apple insist on issuing iTunes update advertising that Music Match is available when it is not available in Canada. How about employing some effective communication skills. Let us know who the update is for, i.e., USA only!!!!

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

2 factor authentication avail in Canada?

Two weeks ago I started the process of using 2 factor authentication on my AppleID. Today I received an email saying that the waiting period is over and I can proceed. According to this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5570 page I should see 2 factor authentication under Password and Security page. Well I do not see anything re 2 factor authentication. Apparently that happens when
" When your country is added, two-step verification will automatically appear in the Password and Security section of Manage My Apple ID when you sign in to My Apple ID"
In other words it appears that 2 factor authentication is not available to Canada. Sigh if this is the case then why allow me to initiate the process and then email me to tell me its available when its not???

I have a couple of AppleIDs. Both have Cdn addresses registered.
One started life as a mac.com account. It got converted to an AppleID when mac.com folded years ago. It don't use it much. That account has the two-factor authorization available. i haven't enabled the feature, but it is available to me on the Password and Security page.
The second is my primary AppleID account. Two-factor authorization option is not visible on that account.
The lack of 2Factor on Canadian accounts has nothing to do with difficulties in dealing with the wireless carriers or SMS aggregators, as suggested by mjdl above. It's purely an Apple administrative issue.
