Is Nokia Maps 3.0 for free?

Could someone of the knowing please enlighten me? Since weeks I look for the promised Maps for Free for my N82. If I look here
http://maps.nokia.com/ovi-services-and-apps/ovi-maps/downloads?ca=navq1&intc=nokiacommaps-fw-ilc-na-...
I can't find my N82 in the list. But following the link below the list
http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/maps-support/compatibility-and-download#/default/
leads me to another page. Here it is absolutely not clear to me, whether this version is free or not.
Could somebody clarify?
Regards

I paid the 10 euros and then they make it free for my phone within 2 weeks - that makes me angry
Exactly the same happened to me! I paid 9.99€ for a full year of navigation for my E66 just a week or two before they offered free navigation! The nerve of those guys! All the dreamy things I could have done with that 10€... now they are gone, forever!
Nokia, I demand my 10€ back instantly, in a paper bag left at my door!
I'm a desperate man!
And second, I want some fresh coffee.
And third, I want a recount. No matter how it turns out, I want my old job back!

  • Nokia Maps/ N95: Support for network links?

    Hello,
I have a GPS tracker device I would like to monitor in Nokia N95's maps. On PC I am using Google Maps with a network link, to see it's position in real time.
Does Nokia Maps support network links like in Google Earth?
Feel free to try - here's a sample URL from TrackingTheWorld:

The beta has been out for your phone for a while now and licenses from previous versions do work with the beta.
You need to ask about availability of the final product on the maps 3 beta forum.  You will most likely will not get an official answer here.

  • Nokia Maps no useful for job

I downloaded Argentina maps for a friend, but the map at my province (San Juan) is only CAPITAL and around. No has Jachal, San Martin and other far minor cities (100+ km) then cant drive to those cities and no roads available (even when no sections of national roads!)

Thanks for your replies. After more tests on the Nokia Store, it seems it will only allow the download of the latest version of Nokia Maps (v3.08) if you register a Symbian Belle device (700 / 701, etc). All Symbian Anna phones can only download the older Ovi Maps (3.06) software.
This is very strange as the beta labs for V3.08 accepted help from all Symbian Anna devices and as confirmed above, I have been running the beta of v3.08 for a couple of months now without any issues. It seems strange that now this has been promoted to a full version they then restrict access to the devices that tested this software.
I have written to Nokia customer services and they say the reason it will not install is that my phone only has Anna version 022.014 installed and that I should update to 025.007. I have tried to do this on my phone and using Nokia Suite but both confirm my phone is up to date and there is no new update available......apart from that pesky Nokia DAB software that I do not need as I don't have the DAB headset or DAB software installed. Having read the forums it seems that this 025.007 update is not for all phones (mine is 059D496) so I assume I will not be getting it.
    Hope this get resolved soon.

  • Is Nokia maps free to use? 90 day license question

I was led to believe that Nokia maps driving use was free and you didn't need to have a license or pay for a subscription once you forked out for a phone.

I have started my 90 day free license not knowing what this is for, is this just for the walk service? Isn't the GPS always free?
Cheers for any advice on this.

What is the difference between subscription and other licence types in Maps 3.0?
Did you know that the latest Ovi Maps 3.03 offers navigation and other services for free? There is no need to use any license on this release. Check if your device is compatible and download the latest version of Maps 3.03 from www.nokia.com/maps/download.
A subscription fee is charged monthly with a phone bill or credit card. You should receive a new licence for the following 30 days automatically in the end of previous licence period. You can cancel the subscription at any point, after which the you are no longer charged for the subscription and don't receive the licence anymore."
Can somebody explain, is it free or not?

  • Nokia Maps / Ovi Maps Installer

    Hi All,
I heard that we were now able to get maps and navigatoin for free, is this correct? I have a n95 and when I go to use the navigation feature in Nokia Maps (just updated it), it says that navigation is a premium service and that I have to pay for it.
I thought there might be a new program available so I tried to install Ovi Maps from the Ovi Store on the phone but it just gets to "preparing to install" and then says "Update Error" and quits.
I have tried reinstalling the firmware but get the same response. Does anybody know what is going on, have I missed something?
    Thank you.
    Tom

    Hi Gregorycharper,
As your phone is a S60 5th edition, I believe that the last stable release of Nokia Maps was 3.06. Versions afterwards like 3.07, 3.08 and 3.09 were solely for Symbian^3 devices running Symbian^3, Symbian Anna and Nokia Belle: http://betalabs.nokia.com/trials/ovi-maps-for-mobile-v3-07/download_and_installation  I'm not too sure if 3.06 graduated from Beta Labs into Nokia Store, but you can always check Nokia Store for the latest version listed there.
Yes, you could always switch your SIM card and memory card with your son's phone if you believe it is a software issue, or that it is a hardware issue. Likewise, checking the Maps data and installations when your phone is connected to your computer in Nokia Suite. Apart from Nokia Suite and Nokia Maps on the Nokia website to download the installation files, there is not really any other place to source the installation files.
    Hope this helps.

  • Nokia maps 1.0 - india maps, Maharashtra and Goa

    Hi all,
I want to download india maps and specifically maps of Maharashtra and Goa. I bought a Nokia C2-03 (dual-sim) recently and have been trying to download maps via Nokia Ovi Suite 3.1.1.90 but it has been a failure.
The device itself does not have much memory but do have a memory card. Does anybody know how :-
    a. I can download and install the Maharashtra and Goa map in the memory card ?
    b. A link from where I can download the map. I did see this link given /t5/Maps-Navigation-and-GPS/Maps-Data-File-size-discrepancy/m-p/1166517/message-uid/1166517/highligh... but unfortunately it seems for a different version of Nokia maps .
    c. Am I correct in assuming its Nokia maps 1.0 . This I came to know via Menu > Maps > Options > About where it says Maps 1.0 www.nokia.com/maps/support
    maps.nokia.com

All and any help and clarity on the above would be helpful.

    @shirishag75
    Welcome to the forum!
Unfortunately S40 devices use Nokia Maps 1.0 for which available mapping is a lot less detailed; presumably  you have inserted memory card and opened Nokia Maps application at least once upon your C2-03 to initialise application? At this point Ovi Suite > Maps should recognise memory card and offer you maps to download but not always so.
That said Series 40 Ovi Maps 2.1 is variable in implementation and if device supplied with local maps installed upon memory card there doesn't seem an issue adding more maps but real issues if no maps with it sometimes.

  • Nokia 6700 navigation: What is for free, and what ...

    Hi,
I am planning to buy a nokia 6700 classic and understand that free navigation is not available for this phone, and will not be available in the coming months as well.
So I have tried to find out which is the navigation part that is for free, and which is the part you pay for, but have not been able to find that on this forum
I want to use the GPS-function for the following purposes:
    - look up certain streets on the map (just like google maps on the internet)
    - find my current location on a map
    - track the route I walk/cycle, so that at home I can see where I have been.
I will not use GPS to navigate me in a certain direction (turn left, turn right etc.)
Do these functions come for free? Or do you have to pay for any access to the GPS function of your phone?
    Thanks,
    John

    1. Look up streets: should be free, it was free on maps 3.01 for s60
    2. Yes this one is also free AFAIK.
    3. Maps does not support this. This is done via Nokia Sport Tracker which is not available for your phone AFAIk.

  • NEW FREE NOKIA MAPS (v. 3.0)

    Heyaa.....
I got the Nokia 5800 XM....just wondering if i will be charged for using the new free nokia maps??? if so how much??
    Many thanks

I would still get a data plan , maps 3.03 gives a lot more than navigation if you allow it to use the web ( plus the whole phone experience is vastly improved if the phone is allowed internet access), but it will work purely with built in gps.
    Good Luck

  • Nokia maps 3 month license for the N78? Gone?

My N78 was supposed to come with a free 3 month nokia maps license, I am not sure where is the license is since there is nothing in the box, only a card that say that I have a 3 (DAY) trail.
Nokia maps was working before, until I did a full reset for the phone (Not including the MMC) due to the problems it had.
and now navigation is gone ... it asks about purchasing it.
so how can I get the navigation back??
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Go through the puchase procedure up to the point where it asks you to choose a map pricing option, then press Options and select Update - this will connect to the Maps server and reinstate any valid licences that exist to the phone.
If that does not work, contact Nokia cia the Conact Us link and ask them to check your licence.

  • Free Nokia MAPS with Nokia N95

    Hello,
I have a Nokia N95 device and I wood like to know if it's possible to use the free walk or drive feature with Nokia MAPS on this device
    Thanks for answer

When they say voice navigation they actually mean navigation to include voice navigation, so you have to pay to use your phone for navigation. However, unlike other sat navs where you have to pay for map updates, with Nokia Maps, all map updates are free for as long as your license is valid.

  • Nokia Maps for Australia - big flaws.

I have an N96 and I have to say, the Nokia Maps leaves a lot to be desired.
First of all, it can take a good 15-20 minutes before my phone will even get a satellite lock and tell me where I am.
The user interface in Maps 2.0 is as clear as mud. Nokia needs to go back to the drawing board on this one. Why it cannot take the same, easy process like a dedicated GPS unit I don't know. For a start, to enter a street number, you cannot press the # key to go into number mode, because that key is used for zooming in and out of the map. This defies everything else on the N96 in terms of user interface. I discovered you need to cycle through the letters until you reach the number.
For some reason, some streets that I KNOW EXIST, like Phillip Street in Sydney - one of Sydney's main streets - does not appear in the search when you look it up! It shows on the map, but you cannot find in the search. Ridiculous!
Also, the navigation is not at all smart. I was trying to get to Raglan Street, Balmoral NSW as I was coming out of the city. The navigation software made me turn left at Cremorne, turn left again, and left again, trying to get me to cross Military Road in a way that would have gotten me a ticket (or killed) had I obeyed. Useless. It wasn't even the most direct route either, as I discovered once I'd got to my destination.
Worse, was that the phone rebooted twice while I was trying to voice dial using my bluetooth headset. Not very helpful. Voice System Errors abound in this phone.
Furthermore, the integration between Maps and the phone functions are very poor. Since the voice dialling on the N96 is not good anyway, sometime you hear the bleep, sometimes you don't, so you have no idea when to speak and when the phone is listening, and if you can do all that without the phonc crashing (I'm using 11.101 firmware) then you're a better person than me.
Now, Nokia wants us to pay $130 per year for this rubbish. My advice is to forget using your phone for navigation. It's way too unreliable. Put the money towards a proper GPS unit and just keep the N96 Maps 2.0 for novelty purposes only. It really isn't worth it.
    Ian Nicholson
    Poor Sod/N96 Owner
    Nokia: Connecting People... with iPhones.

The Nokia GPS receiver is low powered and hence not very sensitive. This is why there is an AGPS function which when activated will dramatically time to first fix. AGPS requires data connection to work.
If you press and hold any of the numerical keys on your keypad, it will go straight to the number. There is no need to cycle.
The search is a little funny at times. My tip is to keep the search vague, i.e. search for Phillip instead of Phillip Street. It may have something to do with the fact that Phillip street may be listed as Phillip St on the database.
There are a few navigation modes such as fastest, optimised, shortest. Try them out to pick the one that best suits you.
I use Voice Commands all the time. It is a little bit troublesome at the start while the phone learns your accent. It took me about a month before I could say I was happy. Nowadays it works about 99% of the time.
I use my phone sat nav as a backup to the unit I have in my BMW. I can't say that one is much better than the other. Both have their idiosyncrasies. The BMW unit leads me up the garden path as often as the Nokia. I do use the Nokia extensively when I travel abroad. The N96 was exemplary on my recent fly drive trip to spain.
I pay £200 twice a year for map updates for my BWW unit so I don't really complain about the Nokia charges because all the map updates are free.
