Is Oracle 7.3.2 server compatible with later client release?

Hi,
We have an Data into an Oracle 7.3.2 server. A new application will be added that require an Oracle8 or greater client tool.
I searched and couldn't find any kind of server/client interoperability matrix. Can you please inform me what client version is compatible with that server version or which one is best suited? Can we use 8i, 9i, 10g, 11g?
Regards,
Alex

The 8i docs have a matrix so you should check this doc first

Vincent Rogier provide this information in a thread last year but didn't give the source
Database Version not supported, Oracle 8 access from Windows 64 bit

9iR1 client can connect to any server from 7.3.4 to 11g
9iR2 client can connect to any server from 8.1.7 to 11g
10g client can connect to any server from 8.1.7 to 11g (with some sub version not supported)
11g client can connect to any server from 9iR2 to 11g

I concur with Matthew.  The release notes for sun cluster and oracle for solaris might tell you.  oracle 9.2.0.8 is out of support on solaris and I recall needing a number of patches to get it to a fit state ... and that is without considering sun cluster.  Extended support for 9.2.0.8 ended about 4 years ago ... this is not a combination I would currently be touching with a bargepole!  You are best to seek on MOS.

  • Is OSX Mountain Lion Server Compatible with Snow Leopard

Is Mountain Lion Server compatible with Clients running on Snow Leopard?

We haven't had any problems with Home Directories hosted on 10.8.2 on a small number ol 10.6 clients. The only issue is that you can't use Workgroup Manager 10.8 on the 10.6 machines to allow 10.6-only apps. If you have a mixture of 10.6, 10.8 or 10.7 clients the user's prefs for things like Mail get screwy due to the different schema.

  • Is ORACLE DB 7.3.4 compatible with VPN systems?

Can any body write as needed detail where I can find the information about that (Is ORACLE DB 7.3.4 compatible with VPN systems?)
Thanks in advance I need the answer quick answer

VPN is virtual private networks. This means (baldly) running secure private applications using the Internet as the platform. This has nothing to do with databases.
Did you mean VPD (virtual private database)? If so, the answer to your question is "No". Oracle's implementation of VPD uses Row Level Security, which was only introduced into 8.1.7.

  • Could you recommend a Web Host Server compatible with Mac? Thank you

Would you please recommend a web host server compatible with Apple? Thank you.

Please see this for starters https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2014/04/05/faq-on-ceo-resignation/
Brendan made the personal decision to not only step down from CEO but to also leave Mozilla. This has lead to some individuals and article writers assuming he was fired or forced to resign.
I get the feeling that you came to the (wrong) conclusion that Mozilla only found out about his support prop 8 donation (made in 2008) after he went from CTO to CEO and the board then must have fired or forced him out after. This is not true as Mozilla knew about this donation since March 2012 due to a article that was written at time. Thanks to California law where such donations require name, employer and it be public record somebody found it and wrote about then. If the board did not support Brendan for who he is then perhaps he would not have been made CEO right?
You should keep using Firefox as Brendan Eich would want that and because Mozilla did not fire nor forced him out.
In fact he could probably come back to working at Mozilla in some role if he wanted to as the Mozilla board encouraged him to stay in some capacity when he chose to leave.
Chris Ilias made a long post about what happened and the support that Mozilla and people at Mozilla have for Brendan. Was going to quote it here but the forum software does not quote very well.

Oh and Mozilla is hardly closed minded as they support equality which includes LGBT. https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2014/03/29/mozilla-supports-lgbt-equality/

  • Connect SQL Server 2012 from Windows Server 2003 with native client 9.0

    Hi,
I currently have a setup where ETL tool Ab Intio, running on a Linux server, connects to the SQL Server 2005 through a passthrough Wintel server with Windows Server 2003 OS using SQL server native client 9.0
Now I have the requirement to upgrade the SQL server from 2005 to 2012.
My question is, will it be possible to connect to SQL server 2012 through Windows Server 2003 with native client 9.0?
As per the specs, I need native client 11.0+ to fully support SQL Server 2012, but then, as per specs, native client 11.0 doesnot run on Windows server 2003. OS upgradation is currently not on the cards.
So will it be possible to the run the basic queries we use currently, if we can connect SQL server 2012 through Windows Server 2003 with native client 9.0/10.0, without updgrading the OS of the Wintel server?
    Thanking you in advance!

    Hi Soumya,
Yes, you can use the SQL Server Native Client shipped with SQL Server 2005 to connect to a SQL Server 2012 instance, and there is no need to upgrade the operating system.

  • Could Oracle 10g (in a server)  work with existing Oracle 9i client

    Hello!
I am new in Oracle, and I was wondering if it’s possible to use Oracle 10g in a server with clients using Oracle 9i. Would that work? Are they compatible?.
    Thanks!

my 9.2 client can not connect to 10g server,
It says that "this application requires that you have been granted to select any dictionary privelege".
my 10 g client connecting normally, but i have many terminal computers with 9 client.
Tell me how to connect to 10g server from 9 client please.

  • Server 9.0.1 compatible with 9iR2 client?

We plan a production environment where Oracle 9i R2 clients talk to an Oracle server 9.0.1 on VMS 7.3. However, Oracle server for VMS lacks the oramtsadmin.sql script. We consider to copy this script from a Windows distribution to VMS. Since this script is related to transaction management, we've been recommended to copy it from a 9.0.1 version on Windows.
But: The architecture for Oracle-MTS integration has been changed from 9i R1 to 9i R2. Instead of a single recovery service in the network, a local recovery service is created on each client.
My question: Is the script oramtsadmin.sql for 9.0.1 compatible with 9i R2 clients?

  • Oracle 9.2.0.8 compatiblity with Planning 9.3.1.1.5

Is oracle 9.2.0.8 database version compatible with Hyperion products 9.3.1.x
we have essbase 9.3.1.3,shared services 9.3.1,planning 93115 . and right now we use oracle 9.2.0.6 and are going to migrate to 9.2.0.8
    Is this new version compatible?
    Thanks

This is the gospel as far as compatibility for 9.3.1 goes:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/hsys9_install_start_here.pdf
This being said it doesn't specifically mention 9.2.0.6 or 9.2.0.8 being supported. I'd say your technically on a non-supported platform anyways I doubt it will change how it interacts on a minor "dot" release.
Someone may be on this version although a lot of people will be on 10g and 11g.

  • How to make JasperReports Server compatible with safari 5.1.7 version

    Hi
My JasperReports Server - Pro is compatible with safari 4.0 browser and safari 5.0 browser but i want to make it compatible with safari 5.1.7 browser My jasperserver is having a proxy address like "abc.com" instead of localhost:8080/jasperserver-pro/login.html.
The problem is, Unable to login through Safari 5.1.7 browser, I guess facing a redirection problem. But i am able to log in with my actual address (localhost).
The above problem is only with safari 5.1.7 and is working perfectly with firefox, chrome, IE and safari 4.0 and safari 5.0.
I am sorry if this is not the right place to discuss the above issue.

    Hello,
Thanks for tip. I tried it but unfortunately it still needs 7.08 to work and I'm not sure why. Even worse is the automatic updater that runs just downloads 7.0. So a user downloads the update, then gets another error message saying they need an even newer version of reader. Very lame.
Plus, once you do get the 7.08 update and open the file you get no less than three pop ups about not saving the file, auto fill options, and one other I forget. Overall a very awkward way to view a very simple file.
I was hoping this would make it easier for customers to fill out a form but it looks like it will accomplish the opposite.

  • Can Oracle Fusion(JDE 8.12) compatible with JDE 8.11

    Hi All,
Here we are facing some problem with Oracle Fusion Intelligence (JDE 8.12).
The client having JDE version 8.11 and we are having Oracle Fusion, which is meant for JDE 8.12. And client doesn't want to upgrade to 8.12 as it is expensive for them.
So can these both(Oracle Fusion-JDE 8.12 and JDE 8.11) compatible with each other?
    Appreciated the early response.
    Thanks in Advance
    Rami

See E1 Doc 754249.1 for the workaround, an easier way to do this is already planned for a future release. Also keep in mind that currently the xmlp kernel looks at the default environment from the security stanza in the jde.ini so that if you are submitting from PY and the default environment is set to PD you will need to change the PD data dictionary items as well.
