Is Oracle client 10g or 11g for Windows 2008 R2 (6.1) available yet?

I have not been able to locate this. If this has not been released, does anyone know when? I have tried the Windows 2008 64 bit 11gR1 (11.1.0.7.0) client on a Windows 2008 R2 with no success. Thanks.

This is just an FYI ... (and a great suggestion to post this comment here as well for correction of documentation by an Admin in Oracle XE forum)
Exercise 4.3 in Hands-On Oracle DB 10g Express Ed for Windows is for demonstrating the use loops. According to the text the last example in this exercise is supposed to output the same code as the first two examples. This is incorrect. The code for the last example is a FOR LOOP:
FOR l_loopCounter IN 0 .. 10 LOOP
This example will necessarily take the loop through eleven times instead of the expected ten times according to the text. Thus the output looks something like this:
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 Loop Exited

Can we install Oracle Database 10g 32 bit on Windows 2008 64bit will there be any disadvantages, will all the features of Oracle database work ( Like Data Guard , OEM, Grid Control).

But, u can Install Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2) on windows 2003 (64 bit) server

Oracle Client 10g/11g on Windows 2008, Itanium

Hi, All!
I need to install Oracle Client on test Windows 2008 Server, based on Itanium processors.
11g client is preferred, and 10g client at least.
I know, that Win2008 is not supported yet for Oracle Database, but, may be, there are way to install it on my own risk (its test server).

Sorry for coming back late on this thread... I have installed Oracle 11g on Windows 2008 but it was a Xeon processor not Itanium.
On a side note, am I wrong in saying Oracle should not be bothered about the underlying hardware (whether Intel or AMD or any proprietary hardware)? It is then the responsibility of the operating system to ensure that the product behavio(u)r is same across platforms.

Oracle Client for Windows 2008 R2

is there a 10g or 11g cleint available for Windows 2008 R2? The latest Win64 or Windows 2008 clients all give me an error that saus it supports versions up to 6.0 and I have version 6.1

There is a work around that can help to install 11g release 1 on windows 2008 R2
The installer can be executed in compatability mode by right clicking on setup.exe and select "Troubleshoot compatibility" then "Troubleshoot Program" then check option "The program worked in earlier versions of windows......." then choose "Windows Server 2003 (with service pack 1)" and in the last step click "start the program" button.

Can I use oracle client 10g express to work on oracle 11g database

I have installed an oracle DB 11g, I also installed oracle client 10g express edition to create users and tables. I noticed that the users I created can't connect to db with error message "Error java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied" and tables I created can't access from my program. I get error message "Error java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist". I start to suspect that client 10g express edition can't use with oracle 11g. Please help.
any suggestion is appreciated.

I cant find a free download for oracle 10g express editon or oracle 10g personal editon for windows 7 x64. Any Help?

Could you use the express edition of 11g instead? I don't believe any edition of 10g was supported on Windows 7.

Difference in select for update of - in Oracle Database 10g and 11g

Hi, I found out that Oracle Database 10g and 11g treat the following PL/SQL block differently (I am using scott schema for convenience):

/While in 10g (10.2) this code ends successfully (well NO_DATA_FOUND exception is raised but that is expected), in 11g (11.2) it raises exception "column ambiguously defined". And that is definitely not expected. It seems like it does not take into account table alias because I found out that when I change the column in FOR UPDATE OF e.empno (also does not work) to e.mgr (which is unique) it starts working. So is this some error in 11g? Any thoughts?

The behaviour seems like it really is a bug and can be avoided using non-ANSI syntax. (It makes me wonder why Oracle maintains two query languages while dumb me thinks that this is just a preprocessor matter and query engine could be the same).
