Is Oracle JDeveloper 12c Studio is an all-encompassing SOA suite?

Hello,
Need some clarification on this whole SOA puzzle.   Turns out there are more than one "current" version of Jdevelopers.
Oracle SOA's latest release is 11g.   Jdeveloper Suite latest release is 12c.    When you download SOA Suite from OTN, you get 11g not 12c.
So the question is, in order to learn latest of SOA suite and FMW,  which one should be downloaded?
If 12c is not SOA suite than, is it supported when used with SOA suite 11g.
Please advise.
Darsh

Hi Darsh,
Oracle recommends you use the version of JDeveloper which correlates with the version of SOA Suite you are using. So if you just want to "learn the latest of SOA suite and FMW" I suggest downloading the 11.1.1.7 version of JDeveloper and SOA Suite.
Event though there are later versions of JDeveloper they don't have the necessary SOA add ons required.

  • Cloning all of SoA Suite -11g

    Hi,
    a quick question.
    I want to take a copy of our Pre-Production environment, and clone it into a development environment. The architecture is the same between all environments.
    When I say clone, I mean a similar concept of an eBusiness Suite clone whereby the technology stack and database are included in the clone, and the source environment can be copied in it's entirety to a target environment.
    Does the Oracle cloning tool update the target database with the correct values? Please see link below.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/core.1111/e10105/clone.htm#ASADM318
    There is no problem, taking the database from the Pre-Prod environment and manually recreating the controlfile myself, but will the SoA cloning process be able to update the values in this new copy to those of the target environment?
    Any information out there?

    Hi Shomit
    As far as I know, the Domains Hostname is stored only in config.xml file. So IP Address is same just Host name is changed CALTP8BB13 to CALTP8BB16. Check for some basic things.
    1. If on Windows OS, try adding this new Hostname and its IP address in hosts file located at C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc. If on Unix Env, I guess there should be a similar file to set the hostnames mapped with IP addresses.
    2. Since the machine is moved to a brand new location and incase kind of different network, check the firewall settings to see if firewall is blocking this new hostname.
    3. To make sure the domain is still good, I guess you already tested with old hostname after moving to new building. Try testing by giving the direct IP address also. This is just confirmation test to make sure domain is not messed up. If both of these works, it simply means issue is with Hostname and IP not getting mapped or new hostname getting blocked over the network. May be network folks can pitch in.
    Hostname or IP addresses should not be in any startup or env scripts. Domainname, servername will be definetly there in lot of files but not the hostname or ip address as far as I know.
    Thanks

  • Need help installing Healthcare adapter in Oracle SOA Suite 11.1.1.5.0

    Hi everyone,
    I am fairly new to SOA Suite and am trying to learn it out of self interest.
    The problem is that I want to do some POC for healthcare scenarios, since I am currently working in a Healthcare based project.
    I have already installed Oracle SOA Suite 11.1.1.5.0. As part of SOA Suite installation, following components were installed.
    1. Oracle Database
    2. Weblogic server
    3. RCU
    4. SOA Suite
    5. JDeveloper
    6. SOA extension for JDeveloper
    From this point on, to enhance SOA Suite for building healthcare scenarios, I am stuck up with following questions:
    1. What all to install ?
    2. Where can I find the required downloadable ?
    3. How to install it?
    Thanks everyone.

    The problem is that I want to do some POC for healthcare scenarios, since I am currently working in a Healthcare based project.If you are going to work on a POC then please use Oracle SOA 11.1.1.6 for Healthcare Integration. It is not recommended to use PS4 (11.1.1.5).
    For PS5 (11.1.1.6), instructions are here -

    I have downloaded and installed two versions of JDeveloper 12c and 11.1.2.4.0 on my MacBook. Aim is to start developing applications for SOA Suite 11g, however I am unable to add support for SCA/SOA Suite via JDeveloper Updates.
    No options are displayed in the menu. Downloaded an offline ZIP file as well. It does not works.

    Hi,
    At current SOA Development is available only in JDeveloper R1, However in Future Oracle Will add this functionality to Oracle JDeveloper 12C. So to Develop SOA Based Applications use
    Jdeveloper 11.1.1.6, 11.1.1.7 or below
    Here is the list for SOA extension according to JDev version you downlaod

  • JDeveloper x SOA Suite

    hi All,
    I have a question...
    in another thread I read JDeveloper and SOA Suite should be in the same version..
    however.. I found JDeveloper in 10.1.3.4 and SOA Suite in 10.1.3.x....
    is it correct?
    Thanks,
    Fernanda

    Yes this is correct.
    This OTN page (http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/101310.html) for example has the SOA Suite 10.1.3.1 plus a patch to 10.1.3.4 for Windows and Linux.
    Ie. download both, install SOA Suite 10.1.3.1, apply patch 10.1.3.4 and use JDev 10.1.3.4

    I can see BAM node under connections node but i do not know how should i add the bam server connection.
    so my questions are :
    -should i install the bam server seperately or it come with ORACLE SOA suite?
    -if i should install seperately, where is hould find it?
    -if it is inside the SOA suite How i can activate it and add it to my Jdeveloper?

    \BAM is part of SOA suite, but BAM should be installed separately, Go to http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/integration/bam/index.html for details.

I installed all the other fusion middleware 11g components including weblogic server 10.3.2 , oracle soa suite components and creation RCU utility for Oracle soa and BAM in oracle XE Database 10.0.1.
    Operating system i used for my system is windows XP Service Pack 2. For JDK location, i make use of the Middleware home directory where already Jdk availabe by installing weblogic server 10.3.2.

    Can you check the setting of your TMP and TEMP environment variables? Change them to a directory without quota or any other restrictions and enough disk space and try again.

    Hi,
    I am desperate for help guys. am trying to deploy a web application in weblogic server, but nothing works!!
    I created a project in jdeveloper and created a jsp page inside the project, all what i want is to run that page!
    I followed the instruction here: Deploying Fusion Web Applications , I don't really know if i did it right or wrong, the document is too detailed and not understood clearly.
    I am a newbie oracle user, and trying to build jsp web application connected to oracle database. application deployment fails it says: cannot run application error deploying IntegratedWeblogic..
    please could you tell me the steps of application deployment in Jdeveloper 12c?
    what deployment profiles I need to create (ear, war , mar)?
    what deployment descriptor I need for my app to work?
    please guys I am newbie to oracle, if you could give me simplified answers and straight instructions it will be appreciated .
    thank you

    hi Timo,
    I am building a local web application, meaning the server is internal and will not connect to the web, only to local pcs via network. the application will insert/select data from the database server. My company wants to embed oracle technology on the datatabse and that what am trying to. I am not that expert in java and oracle in general, my main knowledge are in php, html and mysql programming. through my long internet research a lot has recommended jsp with html to be a good choice.
    At beginning I played around with ADF faces, I found it annoying because I prefer coding than using drag and drop interfaces, which always create unwanted results.
    Also am not that professional java programmer, i started learning jsp and found it easier.
    What I am thinking of is to make a web based application that works in browsers (like php), this application has forms to insert data, and also has forms to output data for printing. that's all. I tried to make it in php, but through my little knowledge and internet researches it seems php does not work with oracle and java is the recommended choice (or it works with php but too complicated to make it)
    any recommendation will be much appreciated
    thank you

  • Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException error JDeveloper 12c

    Hello,
    I am trying to call a java stored procedure in java application. I am using ORACLE database and JDeveloper.
    I am getting error "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException. I have no idea what have I been doing wrong.
    I have a table "Beer" and I want to select all the data out with a stored procedure which I call out of Java app.
    I have a java.class file Store_A.java which I have loaded into the ORACLE database with LOADJAVA :
        import java.sql.*;
        import java.io.*;
        public class Store_a {
          public static void apskatit ()
            throws SQLException
            { String sql =
              "SELECT * FROM Beer";
            try { Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:default:connection:");
              PreparedStatement pstmt = conn.prepareStatement(sql);
              ResultSet rset = pstmt.executeQuery();
              rset.close();
              pstmt.close();
            catch (SQLException e) {System.err.println(e.getMessage());
    Then I have created a procedure which I plan to call out in java:
        CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE Store_a AS
        PROCEDURE apskatit;
        END Store_a;
        CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY Store_a AS
        PROCEDURE apskatit AS LANGUAGE JAVA
        NAME 'Store_a.apskatit()';
        END Store_a;
    And I have a java file that I have created with JDeveloper 12c:
        import java.sql.Connection;
        import java.sql.DriverManager;
        import java.sql.ResultSet;
        import java.sql.SQLException;
        public class Class1 {
             * @param args
            public static void main(String[] args) throws SQLException {
                Connection conn = null;
                try {
                    Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
                    //Izveidojam savienojumu
                    conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc.oracle.thin:@localhost:1521", "SYSTEM", "asdasd");
                    // Izveidojam callable statement
                    CallableStatement stmt = conn.prepareCall("CALL Store_a.apskatit()");
                    ResultSet resul = stmt.executeQuery();
                    while (resul.next()) {
                        System.out.println(resul.getInt(1) + "\t" + resul.getString(2));
                } catch (ClassNotFoundException e) {
                    e.printStackTrace();
                } finally {
                    try {
                        conn.close();
                    } catch (SQLException e) {
                        e.printStackTrace();
    When I try to run the java file, I get this error "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException at client.Class1.main(Class1.java:29).
    So the line I get error in is "conn.close();"
    How to fix this?
    Thank you very much in advance.

    I am trying to call a java stored procedure in java application. I am using ORACLE database and JDeveloper.
    I am getting error "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException. I have no idea what have I been doing wrong.
    Maybe you haven't read it yet but I told you in your other thread what you were doing wrong and, step by step, how to address the problem.
    https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2611124
    I'm not going to repeat everything again just this one main piece of advice:
    Until you get you code working outside the database don't even bother trying to load it into the DB and create a Java stored procedure.
    You are trying to deal with too many different issues at the same time. Unless you solve your primary Java problem by fixing the code outside the DB you will have nothing but problems loading it into the DB.
    And just get rid of this line of code - you don't need it anymore and it hasn't been done like that for many years now:
    Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");

  • Oracle ODAC 12c Release 3 32-bit supports EF 6.x?

    Hello,
    I have Windows  8.1 64-bit with Visual Studio 2013.  I installed the latest Oracle ODAC 12c Release 3 32-bit which says it supports EF 6.  When add the ADO.NET Entity Framework to my project and choose my Oracle data connection, it doesn't allow me to select the Entity Framework 6.0 version.  It has Entity Framework 5.x selected and version 6.x is greyed out.  It says 'An Entity Framework database provider compatible with the latest version of the Entity Framework could not be found for your data connection'.  Why is that?
    Thanks

    How is your app.config? You need to have the Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client provider in your app.config:
      <configSections>
        <section name="entityFramework" type="System.Data.Entity.Internal.ConfigFile.EntityFrameworkSection, EntityFramework, Version=6.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089" requirePermission="false" />
        <section name="oracle.manageddataaccess.client" type="OracleInternal.Common.ODPMSectionHandler, Oracle.ManagedDataAccess, Version=4.121.1.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342" />
      </configSections>
    <entityFramework>
        <defaultConnectionFactory type="System.Data.Entity.Infrastructure.SqlConnectionFactory, EntityFramework" />
        <providers>
          <provider invariantName="Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client"
              type="Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.EntityFramework.EFOracleProviderServices, Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.EntityFramework, Version=6.121.1.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342" />
          <provider invariantName="System.Data.SqlClient" type="System.Data.Entity.SqlServer.SqlProviderServices, EntityFramework.SqlServer" />
        </providers>
      </entityFramework>
    I have experimented a bit more, and suggest the following:
    1) Remove any Oracle driver references for the various projects. Close Visual Studio.
    2) Uninstall ODP.Net.
    3) Reopen Visual Studio and install the latest version of Nuget package "Oracle Data Provider for .NET (ODP.NET) EntityFramework" (I have "6.121.1-beta (Prerelease)"), and include this package both for your data libraries and the application itself.
    This will make sure that the completed application will have all the necessary drivers, and ensures that all users will be able to compile and run the solution - all the references will point to the dll's included in the Nuget package.
    3) Edit: As the Nuget package I reference above is not authored by Oracle I'd recommend waiting for the correct official Nuget package - I solved it by adding references to Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.dll and Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.EntityFramework.dll located in the local Oracle Home, with "Copy Local" set to True, to ensure that they are distributed along with the package. I added the references after installing the newest version of the ODAC package.
    4) Close Visual Studio and install the latest (beta) version of ODP.Net - this will enable you to run the import wizard. (Currently12C R3 Beta 2 - get the 32 bit version: ODAC 12c Release 3 Beta Download).
    5) Reopen Visual Studio. Make sure that both the application and data library has the <entityFramework> above.
    In this way - any other computer can run and compile your project - they just need to get the Nuget package with the managed driver dll's. But - to run the wizard you need to have ODP.Net, it seems.

    I am new to Oracle JDeveloper 10g.
    I am trying to follow a tutorial provided in an oracle book using JSP and ADF. Except my version of Oracle JDeveloper 10g does not use ADF

    Hi,
    if you downloaded the JDeveloper Studio edition then ADF Faces and ADF Business Components should be there.
    Double click on a project and select "All Technologies" from the top select bx. After this you should see ADF Business Components under the business tier node
    For ADF Faces, open the component palette ctrl+shift+P and right mouse click into it. From the context menu choose "manage libraries". In the opened dialog you should see ADF Faces on the left hand side. Shuffle it to the right and OK it.
    Note that you need to have the Studio edition for this
