  • System hangs under OS X 10.5.8 when using some applications

    When looking up help on a Time Machine issue today, a 'fail to backup' notification from TM, the Help application hung, unresponsive. After failing to get Force Quit to work I did a hard restart.
    I've recently installed the comprehensive OS X 10.5.8 update over the original 10.5.6 OS that came with the new iMac. I did this initially to overcome a problem with the iMac losing contact with the new BlueTooth mouse. The update has fixed the BlueTooth problem.
    The issue of the machine hanging has occurred twice before when using other aps, in those cases a hard restart was necessary and in one case I had to unplug from power and wait 30 seconds before restarting the whole system. Certainly the Force Quit ap doesn't seem to be working very well and the iMacs inability to recover from hanging, unresponsive like this, is a real problem.
    Nevertheless the machine is a pleasure to use, except when it buggers up in the middle of my trying to write a story.
    My system is a 24" iMac 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, bought this month, Aug 2009.
    Bluetooth mouse, new external 1 terrabyte LaCie HD for Time Machine backups, current OS 10.5.8.

    Dear MacBook lover,
    I will try the new 'account option' if the machine doesn't settle down.
    There is another option, to wait until I install Snow Leopard later this week.
    This could clear up any issues, but maybe create others?
    I also feel that when I migrated all my stuff from my G4 power PC to the iMac that some of the old software could be causing problems - power pc/intel issues? I am keeping a log of any weird events to try and track the problem down.
    Meanwhile I can still work on the new iMac, its a pleasure to use.
    Have fun in Singapore,
    Cheers

  • Blank screen for few seconds when using "bright applications"

    Hi
    I have my MSI GF5600 VTDR256 for almost a year now and still facing the same problem (after various driver updates still existing :-( )
    When I use application with a lot of bright colors, like Apple iTunes for example, the screen goes blank for 2 or 3 seconds and then returns to my application. Sometimes the screen isn't built up like it should be (pieces of text unreadable, desktop showing "through" some parts of the application). Problem also occurs when quickly scrolling websites with a lot of white in it.
    I connected my Philips 170B4 17" TFT using a DVI cable to the MSI card. Don't know whether the problem occurs when using a VGA cable to connect my monitor.
    The following screenshot illustrates how my screen looks after having another blank screen:
    Somebody any suggestions?

    I recently reinstalled my computer, so I started with the latest driver at that moment and the problem occured.
    I have a 400 Watt dual fan power supply feeding:
    - Gigabyte GA-7VRXP Mainboard
    - 1024 MB PC2700 memory
    - MSI FX5600 VTDR256
    - 1 onboard RAID controller with two 20 GB Harddisk RAID 1
    - 2 additional harddisks
    - Sound Blaster Live Drive
    - Plextor PX2410
    - Plextor PX708A
    - Floppy drive
    - LeadTek TV Card (2000/Expert)

  • Visibroker Bind Error When Using Sun Application Server

    I have a servlet that utilizes Visibroker 3.4 to access CORBA objects. My servlet works fine when using Tomcat; however, when using the Sun Application Server 8.2 PE, the same code does not work. After a few second delay (timout?) then the following exception is thrown.
    org.omg.CORBA.NO_IMPLEMENT:
    Could not locate the following object:
         repository id : IDL:A3Server:1.0
         object name : mobile5A3Server
    vmcid: 0x0 minor code: 0 completed: No
         com.visigenic.vbroker.orb.ORB.bind(ORB.java:1282)
         com.visigenic.vbroker.orb.ORB.bind(ORB.java:1361)
         com.visigenic.vbroker.orb.ORB.bind(ORB.java:1171)
         A3AppGen.A3ServerHelper.bind(A3ServerHelper.java:31)
         A3AppGen.A3ServerHelper.bind(A3ServerHelper.java:27)
         A3SessionConnection.connect(A3SessionConnection.java:74)
    Has anyone experienced this and better, found the solution. Interesting fact is that this only occurs when using the .bind(orb(), serverName); call.
    Another servlet packaged in the same .war file receives an IOR and is able to successfully access the CORBA object using orb().string_to_object(serverIOR); with both Tomcat and Sun Application Server.
    Thanks for the help.

    Please list the content of 'asadminenv.conf'
    Alternatively, you could just manually create the instance as follows:
    asadmin.bat create-domain user admin adminport 4849 domaindir C:\Sun\AppServer\domains instanceport 8080 domain1

  • Workspace no longer works when using flex application as Form

    Hi,
    I've got a problem in the Workspace with one of my process that use a flex application as form.
    I used the tutorial "Creating Flex® Applications Enabled for LiveCycle® Workspace ES" to create the flex application and it works well in the workspace (displays ok and datas well passed to the process).
    The task completes well because my process fires the next step with all the datas filled in the task.
    But after the end of the task (when I click on the submit button of the form) the Workspace is no longer usable.
    I can no longer access preferences, messages, starting process panel... when a click on an item in any Menu nothing occurs. Everything is blocked.
    I must restart the Workspace to be able to use it again.
    Can someone help me please?

    I think I have it solved, will check...
    When modifying, the P3 in the go url was left out. what was P2 should be P3 and the correct P2 would have the table.column name.

  • How to fix an error has occurred with your microphone/speaker.(104) when using line application

    Haloo,
    I am an iphone 5 user, while using the line application for calling with my girlfriend,
    suddenly this error happened
    an error has occurred with your microphone/speaker.(104)
    anyone can help me fix this problem?
    thank you..

    So I tried the trial version but my serial number didn't work I guess because it's for a CS5.5 Web Premium product. I also tried uninstalling my current version of FB4 Standard, uninstalling CS5.5 and starting from scratch without any copies of FlashBuilder in my Applications folder and that didn't work, same error log message. I ended up reinstalling my original copy of FB4 Standard so I could continue working.
    The odd thing is when I went to my MacBook Pro and uninstalled the copy of FB4 Standard I have on there and installed the CS5.5 FlashBuilder 4.5 Premium it works and started up fine. So I'm guessing there's something specific about my iMac setup that's preventing launch.
    I was looking at my FB installation details, don't know if this matters but I'm running the standalone version:
    Adobe Flash Builder Localized Standalone Feature 4.0.1.277662 com.adobe.flexbuilder.feature.standalone.nl1.feature.group
    eclipse.application=com.adobe.flexbuilder.standalone.FlexBuilderApplication
    Unfortunately it's the weekend (holiday in US too). I like the weekend for trying to get these things setup but I'm on my own and feel I'm out of luck until the work week starts.
    If anyone from Adobe is reading this with a beer in one hand and hotdog in the other (or burger or veggie burger or bbq chicken leg) on a hot memorial day and have an idea on how to fix this I'd really appreciate your advice. Thanks!

  • Is cflock necessary when using #Session.URLToken# to append CFID and CFTOKEN to a URL?

    Title pretty much says it all.  I'm in the process of making my application friendly to folks without cookies.  The site uses a login.  I'm in the process of appending Session.URLToken to every URL and form action, to track a user session without cookies (if necessary).
    Do I need to place a CFLOCK around EVERY code block that contains a URL, since I'm referencing a session variable?  I assume not since that would be utterly impractical (plus I'm not modifying any information)... but I thought I should check, 'cause if I'm wrong there's probably potential for all SORTS of issues here.
    Thanks!

  • X high CPU when using Java applications

    Only recently, my Freemind program has become extremely sluggish and unresponsive (big lag) when moving my mind map around. Freemind is made with Java. If I move the mind map around, the X process shoots to 20% CPU, doesn't seem a lot but something between X and Java programs are really bringing their performance down.
    I can barely use Freemind now. Freeplane is also affected.
    I noticed if I keep the Freemind window really small, it's responsive. If I maximise it, everything slows down within the application. Adding new notes, or move the map around, shoots X to a high CPU and there is a 5+ second lag in anything I do in the app.
    Is there anything I can do to improve performance? It's only started recently, everything is up-to-date.

    Hi
    Try to use -Xloggc parameter with the jvm in order to see if problem comes on garbage colector. May be the mem usage is little and the gc thread is in active state. Try, also modify the mem usage with -Xms and -Xmx parameters and see the gc efects.
    You can use the -Xprof to output cpu profiling data.
    Also, find if there is a bug on servlet container / hard /SO you are using.
    Hope this helps

  • N73 turns itself off when using real tone

    When i have an incomming call, and have a real tone selected, my phone rings for 3 rings then dumps and turns itself off. It works again when i turn it on but if i call it again it does the same thing. I have tried using a real tone from the phone and from the memory card and it does the same thing. This does not happen with a polyphonic tone. Any suggestions?
    thanks

    thank you for your advice. I have discovered that most tones work, but the odd one is still dumping the phone. I will just use the working ones now.
    thanks again for your advice.

  • Keep getting "Download Error" when using Adobe Application Manager. Have tried from different areas.

    I'm trying to update my CC Illustrator, as there is an issue that has apparently been resolved with a new update.
    Whenever I try to update Illustrator, or even download a new application, I get an error window "Download Error.  Try again or contact customer support."
    I have tried to download both directly from Adobe Application Manager and from the Creative Cloud website itself.  I have restarted my computer.   This has been happening for 2 days now.  Just can't seem to connect with Adobe Application Manager.
    At one  point I got a window message that said to check the Adobe Site Status, and all looked green and fine there.
    And this forum appears to be the only "customer support" ???!  I don't see any chat help or phone help.  Is that true?
    I can go back to CS4 Illustrator to get the feature that I need (zoom in/out using magic mouse+Option, which is my favorite and essential Illustrator shortcut) but obviously will need to update and download more CC features and programs in the near future.
    Thank you for anyone who can help me.
    Barbara

  • X crashes when using some applications

    First, I realised the problem with Gnome System Monitor... 10-15 seconds after starting it, my X crashes and gives me back the login manager.
    The same problem appeared when I was trying the new KDE 4.2... ~1min after login it crashed.
    Now I installed Gnome Do 0.8.1 and X always crashes when I click on the triangle in the upper-right corner of it.
    I have no clue what to do, but I guess it can be connected with my graphic card (Nvidia 8400M on Dell Vostro 1510), using nvidia-180.29-3 drivers from extra repo...

    Can I somehow fix this problem?

    I´ve had the same problem and what i did was to build the xf86-input-evdev-1.1.3 (1.1.4 and 1.1.5 aren´t working for me at least) with abs, that solved it. here you have the PKGBUILD:
    # $Id: PKGBUILD,v 1.6 2006/12/26 11:41:09 jgc Exp $
    #Maintainer: Jan de Groot <[email protected]>

    pkgrel=1
    pkgdesc="X.org evdev input driver"
    arch=(i686 x86_64)
    url="http://xorg.freedesktop.org/"
    depends=('glibc')
    makedepends=('pkgconfig' 'xorg-server>=1.1.1')
    options=('nolibtool')
    groups=('xorg-input-drivers')
    source=(${url}/releases/individual/driver/${pkgname}-${pkgver}.tar.bz2)
    build() {
    cd ${startdir}/src/${pkgname}-${pkgver}
    ./configure --prefix=/usr \
    --build=${CHOST} --host=${CHOST}
    make || return 1
    make DESTDIR=${startdir}/pkg install || return 1
    i don´t know what the problem is with those two versions. It's not a minor error.

    Regards
    Frdric

    Simple - something is wrong with your C/C++ code.
    You have a pointer/memory bug.

  • Game center makes a lot of hassle when using the application CHESS using  Mountain Lion / Mac Air.

    Problem statement:
    You launch  chess through launch pad.  It starts.   You  move a pawn in the chess board.
    Inmediately after,  Game Center appears (I do not have launched it).
    You order to quit it.  It quits.  After few sec, game center appears again.
    You try now  to  cancel the game of game center  that you find in the screen.  You fill the invitation to login to game center with your Apple ID  account which has the E-mail address identification.
    The situation remains the same.
    Game center gets perturbating  once and again.
    No way to  proceed with a chess game.  So annoying!
    You try 3  times.  Shut down and restart, just in case there were something wrong in the sesssion.
    What diagnosis can be done to  identify the root cause?
    Who to report?
    Thank you.

    Yeah, I'm having the identical problem; don't want to buy another chess game when we're supposed to have this one on ML.

  • Use of application Item with conditional validation

    Apex 3.2
    On a form, I have two lists :
    - Items TYPE contains A B C and D.
    - Item MANAGEMENT contains NULL, 1, 2 and 3.
    I want to validate that MANAGEMENT is not null only when the value in TYPE are A, B or C.
    I am using the condition "Value of Item in Expression 1 Is Contained within Colon Delimited List in Expression 2"
    I dont want to hard code these values (A B C) so I put them in an Application Item (I also need them somewhere else).
    If I use my application Item in the condition, the validation is not performed (I dont see it listed in debug mode.). If I use the real values (A B C), its working.
    Here's what I put in the Exp2 when using the application item :
    F126_CONST_BUSINESS_CASE:F126_CONST_PROJ_NON_PLANIFIE:F126_CONST_PROJ_PLANIFIE
    I also tried with the form v('F126_CONST_BUSINESS_CASE'): ...
    Any Idea ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Amelie,
    You should consider centralizing your validations inside a package. It will make your code much more readable. In many cases, you won't have to modify your application to modify a validation.
    If your validations are required across different pages, consider having a main package or build package a package for each module (page or page groups).
    The following condition for a validation is easier to understand than "Value of Item in Expression 1 Is Contained within Colon Delimited List in Expression 2".
    Condition Type PL/SQL Expression:
    p1_valdt_pkg.is_item_mangm_mandt(:P1_ITEM_TYPE,:P1_ITEM_MANAGEMENT)
    create or replace function is_item_mangm_mandt (pva_item_type in varchar2,

  • Real Application Testing/Sql Performance Analyzer Docs in 10g....

    I believed that both the tools mentioned in the subject are a part of 11g and so are in the 11g docs.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/e12253/toc.htm
    But I was just looking at 10g book listing and I saw the same book in 10g documentation as well.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/e12024/toc.htm
    Now my best guess is that this is due to the backporting of 11g tools for the previous releases. Means that we can do RAT or use SPA in pre 11g databases as well so this doc book is added. Is it correct or there is some other reason?
    Cheers
    Aman....

    Real Application Testing was introduced as a new feature in Oracle Database 11g. The documentation for Real Application Testing was released in 4 phases.
    In the initial phase, the usage of Real Application Testing was documented in the Performance Tuning Guide for release 11.1.
    In the second phase, the Real Application Testing User's Guide was released for release 10.2 to document certain backported functionalities. For Database Replay, the capability to capture a database workload was backported. For SQL Performance Analyzer, the capability to capture a SQL workload into a SQL tuning set was backported. These functionalities were backported to Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (version 10.2.0.4 or higher) to support customers who want to use Real Application Testing to test database upgrades from a previous version of Oracle Database to Oracle Database 11g.
    In the third phase, the Real Application Testing Addendum was released for release 11.1 to document the added functionality to read SQL trace files from Oracle Database 9i to construct a SQL tuning set that can be used as an input source for SQL Performance Analyzer in release 11.1.0.7.
    In the final phase, all available documentation for Real Application Testing contained in the above documents were consolidated into the Real Application Testing User's Guide for release 11.1. Going forward, this guide will contain all documentation of Real Application Testing and be updated for each release.
