Is pages 3.0.3 compatible with pages 5.2?

Hello,
Is Pages v 5.2 compatible with v3.0.3? I have scores of documents written in Pages v3.0.3 that I would like to open in Pages v 5.2, but cannot. The documents were composed on a 2008 iMac (which died) and transferred to a 2013 MacBook Air running Mavericks. When I try to open the documents from  version 3.o.3 in version 5.2, I get an error message telling me that the document is too old.  Thanks

Pages v5+ (including v5.2) no longer open Pages ’08 documents. Pages ’09 v4.3 is the last version that enables you to open these documents, though Pages ’08 and Pages ’09 will work if installed on Mavericks.
Without either of the earlier Pages applications installed, you will have no way to open your older documents and export to MS Word (.doc) format, which is compatible with Pages v5.2. Also, Pages v5+ no longer supports RTF.
Pages ’08 v3.0.3 is the version required to work on Mavericks. If  you have that on installation media, you are good to go, and if not, Pages ’09 is available on E-bay. You will find that Pages v5.2 has far fewer features and functionality than present in either Pages ’08 or ’09.

A reply to similar question (Q & As , in product page Apple Store) says:
"...dissable the internal reader hardware from devices setup. Then plug the external usb superdrive and that's it."  Answered by Enrique T from Lima Oct  25 2013.
If you can locate an external Apple USB 'Air" superdrive for earlier model MacBook Air, that should work. The newer one for the Air is the same as for iMac, now.
You may be able to use other brands of external USB optical drive with your older intel-based iMac, as some of them function capably. A few should also be able to see system discs or other bootable utilities on DVD.
    Hopefully this helps.
    Good luck & happy computing!

I would like to go from Microsoft Office for Mac to pages and numbers so everything is Mac engineered. Will Pages and Number work on my 10.8.5? I dont want to upgrade to Maverick, 'cos it will not be compatible with my Vectorworks 11 cad software

Just found this, I should have looked before the last post, system requirements. It appears you may need the earlier version.

To Reactivate again the feature, follow the above steps.
    http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/Blogs/15338/invalid-splistitem-the-splistitem-provided-is-not-compatibl.aspx
1.The simple thing is to try deactivate and reactive the publishing features both at site collection and site level.
    2. If the above doesn't work then proceed to below PowerShell script.
     $site = Get-SPSite "http://www.mysites/  "
    $web = $site.openweb()
     $correctId = $web.Lists["Pages"].ID $web.AllProperties["__PagesListId"] = $correctId.ToString()
    $Web.AllProperties["__PublishingFeatureActivated"]="True"
    $web.Update()
    3. The key point is PublishingFeatureActivated bag which has to be true .

  • Is pages 11 for iOS compatible with pages 09 on my Mac?

Is pages 11 for iOS compatible with pages 09 on my Mac?

There is no such thing as Pages 11 although the new versions on both the Mac & iOS could be referred to as '13.
Pages '09 cannot open files from the new versions. If you have ugraded to Mavericks you should see an update for Pages in the Mac App Store. Post back if you need help doing that.

  • Pages compatible with word?

hi. I'm just wondering if pages is compatible with word. Example- if I type a document on a PC in word, save it to a flash drive, and then plug the flash drive into my macbook at home, can I open the document seamlessly in pages? A while ago, I tried typing a document in the mac version of word, and then opened it on a PC with word, and I got either strange symbols instead of letters or an underscore between every letter in the document. Will this happen between word and pages?

You cannot open it seamlessly in the sense that you just open it, make some modifications, save it, make some more modifications, save it again and then bring it back to the PC. To bring it back to the PC you have to go through a number of dialog steps and give the file a new name.
However, the import of Word documents to Pages works fine for almost all documents, and the export it decent.
You will most probably not encounter the problems you describe above, if the Word documents come from a PC with Office XP, Office 2000 or Office 2003.

  • The SPListItem provided is not compatible with a Publishing Page.

    Hi Everyone,
I know there are a few previous resolution to this issue on TechNet.  Secifically:
here... but i'm not convinced by the resolution of this issue.
Basically we have exactly the same problem, but over hundreds of pages that were moved by a 3rd party.  You can see my dilemma, I dont want to have to go and recreate all the pages.
Anyone got any new ideas about how to fix this?
    Cheers,
    Michael

    Hi,
I understand that you get the following error message when checking in a publishing page.
"Invalid SPListItem. The SPListItem provided is not compatible with a Publishing Page."
This issue is typically a SharePoint Publishing feature issue on the site/site collection. You can deactivate and reactivate the feature and see how it works.
Alternately, you can activate SP 2010 Publishing Feature using PowerShell. Check the following link for more information:
    SharePoint 2010 Publishing Feature Activation

  • Would pages '09 version 5.1 be compatible with Mac OS 10.7.5?

Some pages files I got require Pages 5.1, but my Mac Pro could not be upgraded to Mavericks, so I am stuck with Mac OS 10.7.5.  Would pages '09 version 5.1 be compatible with Mac OS 10.7.5?

Pages 09 isn't 5.1. It is 4.x. Pages 09 works on your Mac but Pages 5.x doesn't. You are better off using Pages 09 as it has about 100 more features than PAges 5 has!!!

  • Pages and key note not compatible with word and powerpoint

    Dear members
I have received valuable help here, but still pages does not open word documents, I am having problems because I am the only person in my organisation who uses Mac! All the documents are in word format. Yvan kindly helped me and told me to use some tests. I wonder what kind of tests are, I spoke with Apple care, they spent 40 min on the phone doing the following after explaining:
I have a new Mac pro laptop which came as a replacement because the first one had a problem with bluetooh.
The previous Mac pro could open word and powerpoint using pages and key note
When I received the new mac pro I passed the information to the previous one to this one using time machine
I noticed immediately that the new mac pro could not open word using pages
After this I have received snow leopard , installed it , the problem remains
I explained this to the technician on the phone
    Then:
    put caches on desktop
updated the snow leopard to 10.6.1
created a file and saved as a word file using pages, but pages still not open the same doc created by it
The technician tried to contact a senior member and I was left waiting for 20 min to speak with a senior and never happened, I called again and they did the same
Of course that there is something wrong with my system because the previous faulty mac could open word and powerpoint
    Any ideas?
    Best Regards
    Omar

I love iWork, but honestly, if I were the only one in an organization to use a Mac, I would get NeoOffice or Open Office, which are intended to be directly compatible with their Microsoft equivalents. Or, you know, buy MS Office for the Mac.

Firefox 6.0 is the current version.
Get what denoted in what properties link.
You can get the version number in Help -> About Firefox,
and in '''about:support''' typed into the Location bar, and you can use JavaScript to list the user agent -- javascript:navigator.userAgent
I'm not aware of any version of Firefox from Fx 2 on up to Fx 6 where "AVG Safe" is not a problem. Crashes aren't the only failures caused.

Is there any option available to make Weblogic Portal Pages compatible with Mobile Browsers & IPad Browsers.
    Thanks,

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
No, you don't need Office installed. That's the whole idea. Go to File > Export & choose Word (or text, rtf or pdf). The option to "save as" Word has been added in Pages 4/iWork '09 as well as in export.
