Is Pages 4.3 compatible with iCloud?

I have Pages 4.3 on my Macbook Pro with Yosimtee OS. When I try to open an existing iCloud document, it tells me I need a newer version of Pages. But, I can see all my iCloud documents in the Pages document viewer. The app store tells me my software is all up-to-date.
Am I missing something?

Pages '09 v4.3 can read and write documents in Yosemite's version of iCloud after you enable iCloud Drive. Pages '09 v4.3 cannot open any documents written by Pages v5 (including v5.5 or later). It sounds like you are attempting to access a v5 document with Pages '09 v4.3, and receive the alert panel that the index.xml file is missing, please download the latest Pages from the App Store message.

  • HT4597 Only one of my devices is compatible with iCloud.  If I update that device (my iMac) will I still be able to get just emails on my old iPhone classic (as I can now)?

Only one of my devices is compatible with iCloud.  If I update that device (my iMac which is OS 10.7.4) will I still be able to get just emails on my old iPhone classic?  At the moment I have just updated to icloud 'emails only'!

Oh, ok.  When I moved over I clicked the 'not all my devices are compatible' button and was told that I would continue to get my emails only.  Perhaps I'l now be brave and click the “Complete Your Move to iCloud” alert - and see what happens.  Many thanks for your help

I wish that I could offer some help, but I'm about to post a topic with a similar problem.  I posted it on the iCloud discussion board a few days ago.  Since then I've upgraded to Yosemite, so I can get iCloud Drive on this machine and hopefully be in sync with what's on my iPhone & iPad in Pages.  But alas, the problem remains.  The files are not up to date on the desktop running Yosemite and just the same as they were when they were on Mavericks.
My other topic is posted here:Trouble logging into iCloud.com on Mac running Mavericks
One thing you might do, although I'm not sure is log out and back into iCloud (System Prefs) and see if that updates things.  You could delete files off of iCloud Drive, but I am NOT going to do that nor am I recommending it.  Just trying to think of solutions.  Stay tuned for a similar topic in the Pages board here.
    Thanks and keep us posted!

  • Is pages 5.1 compatible with OSX 10.5

I would like to go from Microsoft Office for Mac to pages and numbers so everything is Mac engineered. Will Pages and Number work on my 10.8.5? I dont want to upgrade to Maverick, 'cos it will not be compatible with my Vectorworks 11 cad software

Just found this, I should have looked before the last post, system requirements. It appears you may need the earlier version.

No, the iPod classic has no means of connecting to Wi-Fi, thus making it incompatible with iCloud.

  • Pages quits on startup with iCloud turned on

After upgrading my iPad Air 16GB to 7.0.4, iPages would no longer run. The app would start to load then quit. Reloaded the system and restored the software to the iPad and then started Pages. Without iCloud the app would start and run. Turning on iCloud would terminate the app.
I reloaded the system again and this time set it up as new and loaded only Pages. Same behavior. Pages quits on startup if iCloud is turned on. I found references to similar problems with iCloud and Numbers, Keynote and Pages going back to September. I tried logging in with a different account on iCloud and Pages ran okay. So some problem with the iCloud account. I logged into the account using safari and tried to open some of the files using the Pages web version. Some of the files would not open. I tried to download the files using select all and got non-sensical messages about different devices modifying the files and asking me to resolve the conflict. I did this for hundreds of files one at a time. I ws finally able to download some files and I then decided to clean out all the files on iCloud. I slected all and hit downoad and waited, after a while Safari reported a communication error and I was back where I was with no files downloaded. So I startd downloading them in small batches. Out of each group of 7 or 8 one or two would be bad. They could not be opened on the web or from another instance of Pages running on an iMac. the double step of downloading the file then deleting it in the web browser was taking too much time - I had over 700 files in iCloud. I started to use the Pages app on the iMac to move the files to a local folder - one at a time. Moving them also removed the file from iCloud.
Threre was no way to deal with folders so files that I had grouped into folders had to be moved out and then moved to the machine one at a time. Eventually I moved all the files over and was left with a strange structure that looked like a folder but was more like a bundle containing a plist and other system files. I was able to delete that using the web interace and my iCloud was empty!
I got pages running on the iPad and was finally able to get it to burp one time and continue to run with iCloud enabled. It moved a file I had created on the iPad into iCloud and I was able to access it on the iMac. I then moved twenty or so files from the iMac into iCloud and they eventually sunk with the iPad and I was able to open and edit the file.
My conclusion. iCloud is broken and not fit for professional use. The files you have in iCloud are not backed up and you are in danger of random corruption of your data. The tools you have to deal with the iCloud store are non-existent. Having to open each file in Pages and move it to a local folder one at a time is unacceptable. The lack of any folder level support is ridiculous. Of course maybe I just couldn't find the tutorial on doing file management in iCloud, Is any body else having this problem?

    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.iWork.Pages
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Quit the application if it's running. Move the selected item to the Trash. Relaunch the application and test.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • IOS Pages Crashes on Startup with iCloud - a solution

After weeks of frustration with iOS Pages 2.0.1 crashing one second into startup when accessing documents in iCloud (yet the Mavericks version working fine with iCloud), and searching many threads on the Discussions forums to no avail, I found a solution that is straighforward though not obvious.
Turns out there were spurious odd files in iCloud that iOS Pages would crash over when trying to list on startup.
Background: In Mavericks running Pages, I select File>Open and a chooser window opens. Clicking the iCloud tab brought up a list of all Pages files residing in iCloud. I found a spurious folder that contained some odd files including .plist .png and a couple of others. (This folder did not appear as a choice when opening Pages in iCloud Pages Beta via a browser.) Don't know why or how those files got there but they were greyed out and could not be opened or selected for deletion.
Solution: In OSX went to System Preferences>iCloud>Manage (in lower right corner) > Pages. A list of files appears including those spurious files which could be deleted.
Now, restarting Pages 2.0.1 on the iPhone or iPad opens and documents are listed and can be accessed normally.
Hope this helps others as there are no tips from Apple on its site and no obvious reason why the app should crash on startup.

  • TS4002 My desktop is not compatible with ICloud yet.

How do I check my Mobifle Me mail via the web after June 30?  I have already selected to keep using my MobileMe e-mail after the change over.
Can I move my IPhone and IPad to the Cloud and still get mail on my desktop computer? When I try to log into ICloud on my IPhone or IPad it tells me that I need to move my Mobile Me account to ICloud on my computer but my computer is does not have Lion on it yet.
    Thanks!

You can check your mail at iCloud.com

You can still migrate to iCloud, you just won't be able to sync the calendars and contacts on your mac via iCloud, although you can access them at iCloud.com
You can also use the Mail application on your Mac if you configure it manually to work with iCloud using the Mail Server Information

  • I use Daylite CRM, but it's not compatible with iCloud.

Nor is Outlook for Mac. iCal and Address Book don't have the functionality I need. Where do I go from here? Can anyone suggest a CRM that can link contacts to appointments and emails, and synchronise with my iPhone and iPad?

    Hi Anthony,
I am new to Daylite and I have Daylite Server and Daylite Touch to sync with my iPhone, although I've had to compromise my workflow in order to get eveything to work together (and i'm not there yet).
    1. As the server is loaded on my mac, I loose real time updates and i have to push my iPhone to sync.
    2. I use a number of iCal calendars that sync with iCloud and therefore can not use these calendars with Daylite, so i have set up a 'daylite' calendar 'on my mac' although at this time i am just using it for logging telephone appointments/conversations as I can't bring myself to loose iCloud support just yet.
    3. Also as my contacts are in iCloud, i have to keep a seperate Daylite contacts list which is also a heavy compromise.
    4. Daylite is very good BUT be warned you will need to invest lots of time to get it right for you and your workflow will be compromised before it improves.  prepare youself for lots of long nights watching youtube tutorials!!
Daylite telephony integration has been a nightmare to set up...although when I get there I think it will rock!
I hoep this helps a bit...

  • IPad 2 iOS 5 Pages will not sync with iCloud

I have my iPad 2 fully updated [iOS 5, latest pages update] and I turned on the options for using iCloud; however, when I go into pages, all I see are a bunch of up arrows in the upper right corner of each document and nothing is syncing.  I have the iCloud setting for doc sync turned "on" and the Pages option to use iCloud turned "on."
It has been over 10 hours since I turned all this on, I connected my iPad to a power source [its connected to a good WiFi] and went to bed - its still not synced.
I have migrated my Mobile Me account over to iCloud, and I click on the 'iWorks" and it only gives me the Giraffe and the "Use Pages with iOS" but nothing will change.
Thoughts? Is it just too soon executus? [sorry bad reference].  It looks so very exciting! I cannot wait for my iPad to live sync through pages!  I've been using dropbox and other word processing apps for so long >< I cant wait to be able to rely solely on pages!!!

Did you set up iCloud on the iPad in the settings?
I set up my iCloud account on my iPad and on iCloud.com and updated Pages this morning and my documents uploaded right away. The up arrow indicates that the documents are uploading or ready to upload - at least that's what I assumed.
Try quitting pages and restarting your iPad your iPad - you might as well restart the Mac while you are at it - and then try it again.
You did update Pages so if you did this should work.
To quit Pages - Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close Pages by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on the Pages app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus (-) sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
