Is PCI-6036E suitable for me to send out analog signal to controll a device?

Hello
I need to controll and generate an analog signal to control a nanopositioning stage and I would like to know which one will be better using PCI-7344 board through UMI-7764 or using PCI-6036E board through SCC-68 I/O connector. additional question, I have actualy four wiring pigtailed with LEMO connector, the LEMO connector have two PINs which will be connected to the device, and the 4 wires which will be connected to the signal conditioner, the two pins Ain+ and Ain- with respect to the device, the other 2 wires one is the shield ground and the other one is ground also, the device is CGND, shall I connect the only two differential wires which will be connected in the analog out at the UMI-7764 snd the other one in AOGND at UMI-7764, and the other 2 will be ignored. please may I get any help or advice with full of thanks.

The XXXXX's means it's recording sys-ex information from somewhere, probably from your Yamaha. It also means you're probably recording onto an audio instrument track, or a MIDI track, not an audio track.
Without assuming too much on my end, I would suggest, obviously, of course, that you spend a day or two really learning how Logic operates. Learn the terminology, really digest it, and take baby steps.
Plug in one MOTU interface, and get audio in and out of that. Then plug-in the Yamaha, and do the same. Once you get that under your belt, set up the aggregate device, and by that point, you should be well on your way.
Focus on the "Getting Started" guide, and after you have a handle on that, try pumping audio in and out of the interfaces, one interface at a time.

  • WRT300N does not sends out WLAN signal to card WPC300N ???

    Hi all,
    Another WRT300N problem
It seems that my router does not send out a signal...
I did update to the latest fimware, all security like MAC, key, firewall etc are disabled, ssid broadcast is enabled, so there are no restrictions no more
LAN intenet connection is no problem, that's the way i work now.
When i scan with the linksys wireless network monitor V.1.09, i cannot trace the router, neither with xp and the integrated wifi card from my notebook.
However just a few times the router flipped on the network monitor, but when i tried to connect , it didn't work : no association with acces point...duh....
A few seconds later he was lost again...
I also tried all channels even auto settings.
I do not know what to do or try for the moment to make the router send out his signal.
Anyone any idea or had the same problem ???
Many thanks to help me out !

Hi…I think you have already tried everything on your router, now uninstall the wireless card WLAN utility and reinstall only drivers for your wireless card, through found new hardware wizard. Or you can even download the latest drivers from website and install them.

  • How do I get labview for linux to send out ascii code to a motion controller?

I have posted part of this problem but I will now try to clearify things. I have an x-y stage that needs motion control. I have to run the motion controller from within a linux system (RedHat 7.1) due to others in the research area. I have found a motion controller card (PCI) that will run under linux. This card is not National Instruments. I understand that they do not have drivers for their controller cards. This other card comes with the companies own software that uses ASCII codes to move the motors on the stage. I was hoping to create a program that could call those ASCII codes to move the stage. An example would be if a user wanted to have the stage move to the right he would press a b
utton on the screen instead of typing in whatever ASCII could that move to the right happens to be. How would I go about programming something like this? I have heard of others doing things like this but I am unsure of how to program labview to send out ASCII codes to a PCI card to move motors.

Look in the manual to see get familiar with the sequences of codes you
need to write, and more importantly, where you write them to. I suspect
a memory location, but it could be a socket or port.
Each of these locations will have a slightly different way of accessing
it. Once you know, search devzone for how to do it on linux, or post
    back here.
After you can send the codes to the right location, you probably want to
build a state machine that simplifies the interface and prevents certain
actions from taking place. Now determine which buttons or
    keys perform
which actions and use either the event structure or the older polling
for control changes to affect state changes in the state machine.
I'm summarizing here assuming that you know what a state machine is and
why you'd want to use it. If I'm assuming too much, do some research
and post again with more specific questions. Also be sure to look at
example VIs as they show how to respond to UI actions.

  • Sending out a signal via Parallel port in interrupt mode?

I am trying to send out a 5KHz TTL signal via parallel port. the CPU should be disturbed at most time. so we can't use loop structure. I guess I have to use interrupt mode to do this job.
In other languages, we might be able to programm 8253, which is a timer and counter chip on mother board. can we generate a 5KHz siganl via parallel port without disturbing CPU?
or can we call another labview program in our main labview program.by doing so, two programs are running at the same time, we may be able to solve my problem
    Thanks

    Hi Sean-
This functionality is theoretically possible, but this might not be the best option if you are concerned about latency in operation. A few references for using the parallel port in LabVIEW are linked in this thread.
If you are concerned about precise timing and operating system latency issues, you may want to consider a hardware-timed PCI counter/timer board instead. This utility is a good starting point for selecting such a card.

  • Can old time capsule receive signal w/o extending or sending out a signal?

I just purchased a new Airport Extreme to replace my old Airport Extreme w/ Time Capsule.  I was wondering if there's a way to have the old AE w/ Time Capsule still connect to my network so I can backup wirelessly without actively sending out/extending a wifi signal.
The new Airport Extreme supplies faster internet to my house and I'm afraid if I have the old Airport Extreme extending the signal it will degrade the speed I'm getting with the new router.
Therefore, I was wondering if there's a way to just have the old machine in a hypothetical "receive only" mode.
I know I can plug in a hard drive to the USB 2.0 into the new Airport Extreme, but I was curious if there's a way I can still use my old machine.
    Thanks!

Yes, what you want to do is easy.. until you hit Yosemite.
Plug the old TC WAN port into the new AE LAN port with standard ethernet patch cable.
In the airport utility locate the old TC.. you might need to do a factory reset as this is a major change of network and it is easier to start over.. none of the old backups will be deleted.
    Factory reset universal
Power off the TC.. ie pull the power cord or power off at the wall.. wait 10sec.. hold in the reset button.. be gentle.. power on again still holding in reset.. and keep holding it in for another 10sec. You may need some help as it is hard to both hold in reset and apply power. It will show success by rapidly blinking the front led. Release the reset.. and wait a couple of min for the TC to reset and come back with factory settings. If the front LED doesn’t blink rapidly you missed it and simply try again. The reset is fairly fragile in these.. press it so you feel it just click and no more.. I have seen people bend the lever or even break it. I use a toothpick as tool.
N.B. None of your files on the hard disk of the TC are deleted.. this simply clears out the router settings of the TC.
Now set it up in bridge mode.. that should the the automatic setup default in this case.. and turn off wireless.
You can now access the old TC in TM on the computer.. unless it is Yosemite.. in which case you have a pile of other stuff that might be needed..
    Tell us how you go.
However to make life easier in the new setup.. please stick to these rules.
Then redo the setup from the computer with Yosemite.
    1. Use very short names.. NOT APPLE RECOMMENDED names. No spaces and pure alphanumerics.
eg TCgen5 and TCwifi for basestation and wireless respectively.
Even better if the issue is more wireless use TC24ghz and TC5ghz with fixed channels as this also seems to help stop the nonsense. But this can be tried in the second round.
    2. Use all passwords that also comply but can be a bit longer. ie 8-20 characters mixed case and numbers.. no non-alphanumerics.
    3. Ensure the TC always takes the same IP address.. you will need to do this on the main router using dhcp reservation.. or a bit more complex setup using static IP in the TC. But this is important.. having IP drift all over the place when Yosemite cannot remember its own name for 5 min after a reboot makes for poor networking. If the TC is main router it will not be an issue.
    4. Check your share name on the computer is not changing.. make sure it also complies with the above.. short no spaces and pure alphanumeric.. but this change will mess up your TM backup.. so be prepared to do a new full backup. Sorry.. keep this one for second round if you want to avoid a new backup.
    5. Mount the TC disk in the computer manually.
In Finder, Go, Connect to server from the top menu,
Type in SMB://192.168.0.254 (or whatever the TC ip is which you have now made static. As a router by default it is 10.0.1.1 and I encourage people to stick with that unless you know what you are doing).
You can use name.. SMB://TCgen5.local where you replace TCgen5 with your TC name.. local is the default domain of the TC and doesn't change.
However names are not so easy as IP address.. nor as reliable. At least not in Yosemite they aren't. The domain can also be an issue if you are not plugged or wireless directly to the TC.
    6. Make sure IPv6 is set to link-local only in the computer. For example wireless open the network preferences, wireless and advanced / TCP/IP.. and fix the IPv6. to link-local only.

  • Send out analog and digital signal simultaneously ?

Is there any way to send out an analog signal and a digital signal at
the same time? Time is critical in my application. Milisecond delay is
not allowed. I am using a PCI-MIO-16E-4 board and DAQ 6.0.
Any information from you will be deeply appreciated.

Share what you know. Learn what you don't.

You went a little too far. the while loop I was talking about was the one around the digital write. You've now taken the digital write completely out of the loop and closing it. You can't do anything with the digital when the analog in is running. You've also closed the analog write while the analog in is running. The attached is more like what I was talking about.
Even with the diagram cleaned up, it sounds like you still have a problem. I don't know the details of your hardware setup but I would start by looking at the analog signal you are generating and verifying that it is correct to your hardware. It would help if you had a scope to troubleshoot. If the signal is correct to the hardware, then trace it through to the connection to the DAQ's analog input. If it's correct there and you still don't see the signal, then you may have wired up the DAQ incorrectly. You haven't specified the connection type (differential, RSE, etc) and I believe it will default to differential.

  • How do i send an analog signal to trigger another program

I am trying to send out an analog signal from labView that will start Bioware. How can I do this?

    Hi Orbz,
There are 3 Send modes in Logic:
    • Pre Fader (original signal is sent before it reaches the channel strip's fader etc.
    • Post Fader (sent before volume fader adjustments)
    • Post Pan (send before volume fader and Pan/Balance adjustments).
Click and hold on the Send slot in your synth channel strip and select Post Pan fro the drop-down menu.
Funnily enough I've just finished writing a tutorial about this very topic!! It's not published yet, but will appear on the macProVideo.com blog in the coming days...

  • Niscope for pxi5105, use a digital pulse signal to control analog signal sample

i want to use ni-scope to drive pxi5105. And the PFI1 connect to a digital pulse signal(10KHz, 0-3.3V), to control a single channel analog signal continuous sample(Chan 0). I want a loop when the digital signal falling, the analog singal start to sample, and when the digtal signal rising, the analog singal stop. And by the low level of the digital singal, the analog singal sample (coupling by DC) can get an average and export to txt. I have tried the "start_and_reference_trigger.vi " and it did not work correctly. i need your help, thank you very much.

    Hi Phil,
The SCC carrier is only conditioning your signals (i.e. if your signals are not in optimal ranges, bandwidth or need external excitation). The actual counters and all digital lines are controlled directly by the M-series board. This means you will never be able to refer to a counter in the SCC module.
If you route the signals of the M-Series board, is as if you had done so externally from the SCC. Look at this example and might give you more insight to how to implement it (This is software timing). The hardware timing would be doing correlation DIO. Here is an example that needs to be modified to adapt to your timing: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/4414

  • Is java suitable for hardware related programming?

in general, is java suitable for hardware related programming?

One small hurdle is that device driver writing often requires very specific machine instructions that are not directly available to any high level language. IN, OUT, LOCK (lock memory bus), VERR (Verify for Reading), RDMSR (Read Model-Specific Registers), move from/to memory without going through the MMU address mapping, ... (those are from x86, there are a few dozen of them.)
In C, you'd write assembler glue. In Java, you'd write assembler glue and call it through JNI.
So if you modify the question: "is Java + JNI suitable", the answer changes a bit. Still, threading and garbage collection are issues: often you can't have anything else happening in the computer when you are talking to a hardware device; it's often timing-dependent and any other parallel bus access migh throw the bus protocol off.
Depends on the hardware, the operating system, and the Java (real-time Java may be required). Be prepared to write the lowest levels of communication in assembly; there is no other language for those bits.
Would you consider controlling Lego Mindstorms hardware related? The low level bits are operating system services in C/C++/assembly, and the high level is Java.

  • How do I get labview to send out ascii code to a device?

I am trying to use a device that does not have labview drivers. However, the company has sent out their own program but it is two letter ascii code. I want to make the interface easier than having to learn all the ascii codes when one wants to do something. How would I go about programming labview to send out ascii code to move my device?

Are you asking how to communicate with the device or how to allow user to select from easily understood commands?
If you need help communicating, look at the communication examples that ship with LabView. I'm guessing that your device is serial. To find the examples, from any LabView window, goto Help >> Find Examples >> Search, then enter Serial in the box labeled Type a keyword to find:
If you want to help the user pick a command, there are a bunch of ways to do this. Most typical are using a ring or enum on your front panel and doing the translations from user commands to machine commands on your diagram. Look at the attached LabView 6.1 example which shows a ring and an enum. To initialize the enum or ring, select the text tool and left-click on the
control, then enter your text. To add more items, right-click on the control and select Add Item After (or Before) and type the text for the new command. The diagram will see the output as a number. Use that number to select an index from a multi-line string or to select a case in a case structure. One nice thing about the enum is that the cases are automatically named with the enum string. An easy way to get cases for all items is to put a string constant in the first case, wire it out of the case, then right-click on the case boarder and select Duplicate Case. You'll get a new case named for the next item with a string already wired out. Then you can just edit the string text in each new case for the desired output.

I'm involved in fashion and would like to know which Adobe program would be suitable for importing images and my company logo to design fabric and send as image to fabric printers? Thanks

Adobe Illustrator.  Your company logo should be a vector file.  Image files can be "Placed" in Illustrator.  Artwork created for printing can be drawn in Illustrator and saved as .ai, .eps, and .pdf files which can be imported into your printer's RIP.  But, check with your print vendors and see what they require.  This does not rule-out Photoshop, however Photoshop can be limited.  So, it would be a good idea to have Photoshop and Illustrator loaded in your workstation with Illustrator being the go-to application.

  • Which digital camera is suitable for the pci-1422

when i purchase a digital cam for PCI-1422 , what should i focus on, for example: Resolution, interface, depth of color or etc??
How to classify the a digital cam and how to identify which is suitable for PCI-1422??
Does anybody have recommandation for me!!??
    thanx!!!

There are a lot of digital cameras that work well with the PCI-1422.
Selecting the proper camera depends more on your application than the PCI-1422. You need to look at resolution and frame rate, along with bit depth, color or B&W, etc.
You will also need to select a lens that matches your application. You might just need a fixed focal length, or you might need a zoom, a telecentric lens, or other possibilities.
I would recommend discussing your application with Robert Eastlund of Graftek Imaging (800) 441-2118. He will be able to help you select the proper camera and lens for your application.

  • Need internal register info and map for PCI-6036E

I'm going to be using NI-PCI-6036E Data Acquisition cards using a hard real time extension package for Windows. As a result, we will have to write a driver for the 6036E cards to access them in real time. Consequently, I need a map of and information on the internal registers e.g. a programming model. and the PCI vendor ID and device ID

I would definitely recommend that you download our Measurement Hardware Driver Development Kit (DDK). This is a free download from our website, and can be found at www.ni.com or at the following direct link.
