Is Pentium 4 2.8GHz compatible with Satellite P100?

Hi
I have an 18 month old Satellite P100 with a 1.6GHz processor (not dual core) and want to know if this laptop will happily work if I fit a 2.8GHz Pentium 4 processor or will it damage the motherboard?
Cheers
Wacky

May I ask you why do you want to replace the Intel Dual Core 1.6GHz with the old Pentium 4 2.8Ghz?
For me this make no sense because the Dual Core 1.6GHz is much faster as the P4 2.8Ghz.
The name says everything; Dual core means that two CPU cores run at 1.6GHz. SO if you would add performance of the both cores you will get a higher performance as the Pentium 4 2.8 GHz.
By the way; as far as I know the P4 supports an different layout so its not compatible with the board!

  • What WLan Router would be compatible with Satellite Pro A300D-13E

I am really new to laptops and I hope this is not too basic a question but I am looking for a Router for my A300D-13E. I see lots of posts on Broadband forums regarding problems with so many different routers I just thought some knowledgeable forum member might point me in the right direction please.
    I am using ADSL Max.

    Hi
I dont think that a Satellite A300D would not support some WLan broadband routers.
The point is that the notebook uses the newest generation of internal WLan cards which should be compatible with most WLan routers.
Sometimes the WLan driver must be updated to get the full functionality but to be honest I never had any WLan issues
Of course, if the WLan card does not support for example the 802.11 G standard then you will be not able to able to connect to such wireless lan

  • What CD/DVD drive is compatible with Satellite A10-S103

I am using portable computer Toshiba Satellite A10-S103 and I am about to replace original CD/DVD-ROM drive with a new one which can also write CDs and DVDs.
However, I have been given a notice, that after installing new DVD drive the "IDE #1 error" message may appear. According to my knowledge, this error can be avoided by replacing the old drive with a new one that requires the same Primary/Secondary Master/Slave/Cable select settings as the old one.
Can you recommend me a DVD-RW drive that could replace the old DVD-ROM drive and would work without any further HW adjustments?
The new DVD-RW drive should be similar to i.e.
However, I was not able to decide whether this device will or will not work in my computer as I do not know settings of the original DVD drive.
My original Toshiba DVD drive information as follow:
    1. 'Model No.' SD-C2612
    2. 'ROM Ver.' 1315
    3. 'Serial No.' 394N002659
    4. 'Ver. No.' 302.
    The computer is already out-of-warranty
    Thank you.

You are right. The IDE #1 error appears because the BIOS doesnt recognize the new internal CD/DVD drive due to the wrong master/slave/c-sel settings.
Usually such settings are fix and cannot be changed like on the external ODDs using other jumper position.
The firmware controls the internal notebooks ODD settings.
Therefore the usage of the supported and compatible ODDs is very important.
Sorry, but I didnt find any details about compatible CD/DVD drives.
Did you take a look into the user manual of your notebook series???
In my user manual I found some info about the compatible drives with my notebook.
So maybe you are a lucky man and your user manual will provide some useful informations.

  • Which CD ROM drive is compatible with Satellite 1690CDT?

    Hello,
I own an old Tosiba Satellite 169CDT notebook which still works well for me. Unfortunately the buid in CD ROM drive is broken. Does anybody know, where I can get a repacement drive for less money?
Can anybody tell me the model no or model description of the build in CD drive, is it a Teac drive?
Also any hints how to dismount the drive are welcome.
    Thanks for your help!
    Regards
    Sergeant

    Hi,
because your machine is pretty old, maybe looking by ebay or something similar could help you.
So I cannot help you with dismounting your drive, because I dont know, but you can try to loose some screws on the bottom of the machine which are exactly there, where the drive has its back.
Just try to imagine where the drive can be fixed with that screw, it has to be around the middle part of the bottom of your machine.

  • What CD/DVD drive is compatible with Satellite 1400-103

    Hi
I Have Been Looking For A Replacement Dvd Rom For My Toshiba Satellite 1400-103 and I can't Find Any one.
Due To It Been So Old So I Just Wondering If There Are Other Compatible Dvd Drives That I Can Buy For My Laptop?
    Thanks

I think this CD/DVD drive could be compatible:

    - Matsu****a UJDA720**
    - TEAC DW-28E**
    - Toshiba SD-C2502**
    - TEAC DV-28E-B34

  • What optical drive is compatible with Satellite A30

    Hi,
My A30-104's builtin DVD/CDRW drive seems to be on the way out (fails to mount most disks, just clicks a lot and tries/fails to spin up) so I need to go about replacing it. I have two questions:
    1) The drive is listed as "Toshiba SD-R2412" and I found plenty of matches for this on eBay. However, some listings mention an additional 3-digit number (e.g. 202, 209 etc.) after the designation. What does this mean, and how can I find out the number for my drive (and is it i that important)?
    2) Is there a DVD-writer available in teh same form-factor, and would it be likely to work with my laptop?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi
The additional notebook drives numbers are not know to me and I dont know the meaning.
However, you have to know that not all drives can be used in the notebook. The CD/DVD drive supports different master/slave/ c-sel settings which are not changeable and sometimes dont match with the notebook.
Therefore you have to use only the drives recommended by Toshiba! As far as I know the different compatible drives are listed in the user manual. Please take a look there!
I found a several supported drives. For example:
    TEAC DW-224E
    TEAC DV-W22-85
    Toshiba SD-C2612
    Toshiba SD-R2412
But as said above, check the user manual. All drives listed there

  • What lightscribe CD/DVD drives are compatible with Satellite P300

    Very fast.
What optical lightscribe drives i can mount in my Toshiba Satellite P300.
At now i have pioneer dvr-kd08 but i wont lightscribe.

This is not that easy to say as compatibility depends on the slave/master settings and therefore you would need to ask an ASP.
Maybe check some lightscribe ODDs and ask the guys from ASP.
But honestly, would you really want to waste your money on this feature? I know, those discs look pretty nice when used ligthscribe on it, but is it worth it?
I have one in my other notebook but I have only used it once.
And you will need special blank CDs/DVDs with this surface to use lightscribe feature.

  • What CD/DVD brands are compatible with Satellite A300?

    Hello,
I have a big problem when I burn the media (cd or dvd) on my laptop toshiba satellite A300.
I have already try different mark (philips, sony, tdk, ...) but for the tdk it works one time on five.
Here I bought the sony cd recordable and when I wanted to burn, i received the message "media incompatible or bad quality" :-(
I use the soft "cd burner xp"
I don't understand which mark should i buy ? of is this a problem of softwer ?
thank you in advance to bring your lights.
    EG
    (Belgium - Soignies)

    thanks for yours responses.
in fact i use only DVD+R (tdk, philips and sony).
I had problems with tdk and mainly with phillips.
All my media (cd/dvd) were in the trash :-( it's not normal
I am going to try clean the lens with alcool and buy verbatim.
with the media CD-R sony no media work :-( it's crazy.
It's strange because the burning goes well (successfull) and when i put the cd on my cd player it doesn't work (run for a moment and print "no disk").

  • LARGEST HDD COMPATIBLE WITH SATELLITE 2595CDT?

    HELLO,
I am new to this forum.
    I have this problem.
I want to upgrade my 6.4Gb hdd of the Toshiba Satellite 2595CDT (acquired in U.S.A.).
I e-mailed to Toshiba America and their Storage Devices Division but they keep passing me on to local representatives. I ain't getting any answers from them so far.
My question is if the Satellite 2595CDT BIOS (updated to ver 8.20) can recognize natively larger hdd drives. My intention is to buy a 60 or 80 Gb drive.
Does any other Satellite owner have this problem?
    Thanks for your help.
    Radu

    Thanks Miro,
    Well big surprise here.
The local Toshiba Service said the Satellite 25xx serie can hold no more than 20Gb hdd.
    WRONG!
So I called Toshiba Laptop Division in USA.
They CONFIRM without any doubt that the Satellite 2595CDT
can support up to 80Gb hdd. No more.
You just have to upgrade your BIOS to ver 8.20
I hope this is usefull for many of Toshiba satellite 25xx series.
All the best to you all.

  • Screen problems with Satellite P100-429

A few months ago I noticed a thin pink vertical stripe had appeared near the left hand side of my screen that bisects the entire screen and does not disappear whatever else is on the screen. Well I kind of let it slide and now there are hundreds of vertical coloured vertical lines all across the screen. The IT help guy at work states that it is because my toshiba drivers need updating. I have visited their website and tried to download some, but they appear to make no difference or else don't work.
Is this a recognised problem? What causes it? Could it be some physical damage?

If you see the problem *before* Windows starts (for example in the BIOS or at the Toshiba splash screen), then its not a driver problem.
Sounds like it needs a new LCD if the lines are single pixel in size.

  • Satellite P100-221 - where can I buy it?

    Hi,
I am looking for a shop in London with Satellite P100-221. Do you know where can I buy this model?

I dont live in London and Im also not from England but I can believe that you are not able to buy this notebook in London.
You will find in London definitely a notebook store. Am I wrong?
The guys should be able to order it from the Toshiba. The other possibility is to ask the Toshiba service partner for a notebook ordering.
Please visit the find the authorized service partner database.

  • Satellite M70-354 - Is the mainboard compatible with another one?

    Hello guys,
I have to replace the mainboard of a Toshiba Satellite M70-354 PSM70E.
The inbuild mainboard is a K000033860, so is it compatible with any PSM70E mainboard avayable (K000XXXXXX)?
    Thanks for any help
    5urprise

    Hi
I think you should ask this question an authorized service provider. I mean here its an user to user forum and nobody can check which mainboards fit in which notebooks.
The technicians can order all spare parts and so I think they should know if this mainboard also fit in Satellite M70.
By the way, here you can search for the nearest authorized service provider:

  • Satellite P100-347 - problem with shutdown during gameplay

i have a problem with my Satellite P100-347(pspa6e)
After about 10 minutes playtime with games like battlefield 2, the SIMS2 and so on.. my pc shuts down...
I suspected it was shutting down because of high gpu or cpu temp...
i could feel that my notebook was hot, but after playing for a while its normal...
so i installed HWmonitor to check my gpu,cpu and hdd temp...
    this is what i shows:
    THRM: 61.C - 141.F
    CPU: core0\1 - both 64.C - 147.F
    GPU: runs at stable 85 - 90.C
    this at normal use...not games....
    HDD: 39.C
Something has to be wrong!! gpu temp has to be too high?!?
i have tried a fresh OS install....
thnx for all answers and help!

    Hello
I agree with Akuma. The fact is that suddenly shutdowns are mostly caused by too high temperature and shutdown is actually reaction for ??hardware protection??.
So what you should do is to clean up the cooling grill.
There is just one problem: if this should be done properly the notebook must be disassembled. So the question is how you want to do this?
At the moment, try to place your notebook on higher position, maybe on 4 books to make more distance between the notebook and the desk. I just hope the air circulation will be better and you will be able to play a little bit longer. Please test it and let us know what will happen.
