Is periodic maintenance required for app deployed on OAS on Windows?

Hi,
We have an application that uses 7 BPEL processes and one web service deployed on OAS. Application is into production from the last 4 months.
We are bringing down the App server once in a while due to applying break fixes, etc.
But, now, considering the App is quite stable, we won't be planning to bring down the app server for few months. My question is, do we need to schedule planned downtime and restart the application server once in a while in view of memory leaks etc as the App is deployed on Windows Operating System?
It would be a great if I get some info/links that will give me the exact information.
Thanks,
Sasi Bhushan.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the reply.
Yes. Infact we have taken care of log files. But wondering if memory leaks etc could cause total memory consumption and making the app server hung etc.
So, I am looking for some suggestion on whether we need the app server restart periodically or it's not required at all.
Thanks,
Sasi Bhushan.

  • Blackberry 8800 - does not meet system requirements for app world

hi, i have recently boght a second hand blackberry 8800, which was o2 and now has a tesco sim card in it, running V 4.2.1.101.
The problem is that i can't get app world to download.  I can browse, and use BBM so my blackberry browsing is on?
I have phoned and checked with Tesco, and as far as they can see i have the data plans etc, just possibly need to update my OS.  But when i plug in to the PC and run an update check it says there are none available.  Also, the requirements for App world are V4.2 which i have, so i am getting a bit stuck now.
Any help would be great as I'm getting a bit annoyed now!!! TA
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The requirement for running AppWorld is not  OS 4.2, it's OS 4.5 according to the download page on www.blackberry.com .  That's where you're running into problems.  Updating your OS would solve that.
    Here's the link stating that:

  • Hardware Requirement  for APPS 11I and R12

    Hello experts,
i want to purchase new laptop for practice oracle 11i or r12.
please suggest me what should harware requirement, mainly processor and operating system.
as i want to buy I3 processor with window 7 4 gb ram. 500 gb hard disc.
but my frnd told me that apps do not work with window7.
    thanks
    yash

I would not recommend installing 11i at this time and your choice would be R12 (12.1.1) -- You may upgrade to 12.1.3 later if you want.
For the hardware specifications, please make sure you have at leave 8 GB RAM.
For the disk space, the total space required for a standard system (not including the stage area) is 85 GB for a fresh install with a production database, and 233 GB for a fresh install with a Vision Demo database. For the stage area directory (where you will run the installer from), you need at least 47 GB to accommodate the file system and database files in the stage area.

  • Is Reverse Proxy required for Hybrid deployment

    Hi everyone,
We plan to deploy a new infrastructure on prem attached to O365.
The aim of this deployment is to create lync meeting on the on prem FE server which will be accessible by O365 Lync users. (FI: these meetings will be created on prem because the customer wants to cascade Lync conference with his Polycom video conferencing
    infrastructure).
Some users are homed on-premises and some users are homed online, but the all users share the same SIP domain. Is Reverse Proxy on prem will be required for O365 users to join meetings created on the on-premise FE or the O365 architecture
    can handle it?
The only functionality needed is meeting (not mobility). I saw this (https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/cf4f63f9-355f-475b-8148-608633adfe86/is-reverse-proxy-necessary-for-lync-hybrid-deployment?forum=lyncdeploy) but the functionality asked
    are different.
    Many thanks for your help.
    Thomas

You'll need a reverse proxy on premises to publish the external web services FQDN of your on-premises front end pool.  Meet will use this behind the scenes regardless of where it's pointing.  If you're hybrid, the DNS URLs should typically point
to your on-premises deployment however anyway:

  • Is ISA required for exchange deployment?

I just read the iphone exchange/enterprise pdfs on apple website and the documentation said that ISA is required for exchange activesync to work. Is this true? Why? What if my company uses another firewall technology? Anyone have any success without ISA?

Easy...port 80 and port 443. If you force SSL only, then you only need port 443. Open that port up on the firewall.
Otherwise, you can do port 80 to the OWA server via firewall rule. Although data is sent unencrypted.
You need a valid SSL cert from one of the major players for SSL to work correctly. People with self-signed internal SSL don't work often.
ActiveSync is just a Virtual Directory on the Windows Exchange Server under IIS and your Activesync on the phone knows which one it is to navigate to for mail sync and authentication.

We are definitely not deploying as an EAR and this is not production mode. This
is happening on our developer workstations as we test on local copies of our application
    running in exploded mode.

  • Session Timeouts for Apps deployed on separate domains

    Hi,
    Jdeveloper : Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.2.0 , Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.2.0_GENERIC_091029.2229.5536
    Platform: Linux, Windows
I am observing something strange with session timeouts when 2 apps are deployed to 2 separate WLS instances.
Here is what I had done :
In JDeveloper, I create 2 Fusion Apps.
I create a simple JSPX page having a Tabbed Pane with 2 tabs in each of these apps.
I create a separate WLS domain with Admin server in it, using the weblogic's config tool.
I deploy one application in the embedded WLS instance and another application in the newly created domain's Admin server instance (for testing only) .
I access the jspx page in each of the app in 2 tabs from the same browser window.
When I click on the one application (i.e click on tabs in the tabbed pane) , the other application is timing out immediately. (definitely, the configured timeout limit of 6 minutes has not been reached)
    Has anybody observed this ?
How can I circumvent this behavior ?
    Thanks in advance
    Sivan

The server set the session id, but its up to the browser to decide to use it or not.
If the browser sends a null session id, the server will generate a new one.
IE is well-known for sending null session id frequently to force renegotiation with the server.
Not sure what is the purpose of this, but it is annoying when doing stickyness.
    Gilles.

  • How to create logs in to diff files for apps deploy on same OC4J instance?

I am using OC4J 10.1.3.5 App server on Windows. I have deployed 2 web applications on the same instance of OC4J where I have defined the shared library. Both applications use Struts, Spring, iBatis, apache commons libraries which I have defined as a shared library. Part of the apache loggins library I had to add log4j jar as well. So indirectly log4j-12.16.jar is declared as a shared-lib as well.
I have log4j.properties for both application pointing to different log file. But still when both applications are deployed and running, the logs are getting populated on only one file. During the deployment, I did check on webapp-classpath-first="true" setting to explicitly have log4j.properties of each individual application being load first. But nothing makes difference.
    Please help.
    Thanks
    Jasmin

    Jasmin,
Dependent on where the log4j library is installed it will use either one or separate configuration files. Placed in WEB-INF/lib then the log4j logger is initialized separately for the applications using separate configuration files. This is not the case when the log4j library is placed under home/applib.

  • Change in technical skills required for APPS Release 12 ?

    Hi all,
My doubt/concern is: In APPS 11i, to become a technical developer, a person must have Oracle D2K + Pl/Sql skills as your basic skills for development/implementation. But I heard that starting from Release 12 onwards, there will not be any Oracle Forms/Reports involved. Instead , we need to develop Oracle APPS using Java only (Jdeveloper) from Release 12 onwards.
Is this true ? If yes, then are exisitng/new APPS Developers required to learn/migrate to Java Technology ? Kindly please advice as I do not have any experience/knowledge in Java and i am preparing to start my career in Oracle APPS.
    Regards,
    Kumar

Thank you very much for your encouragement.
I have 3 yrs of experience in Pl/Sql,Forms,Reports + some experience as Oracle DBA (9i Developer OCP + 9i DBA OCP). I have 2 options now, either become an:
    1) Oracle DBA/Oralce APPS DBA or
    2) Oracle APPS Technical Developer
For Option 1, I need to do some more certifications/gain DBA work experience I am confident that I can become an Oracle DBA or Oralce APPS DBA very soon.
For Option 2, I need to do learn Oracle APPS 11i basics first and then get a junior level APPS Technical Programmer Job somewhere. So It will take 2 more years for me to get comfortable with Oracle APPS 11i. But by that time, APPS Release 12 and Fusion will get released and all my current skillsets will not be enough to cope up with that. So I need to learn/switch to Web Services,BPEL,Java/J2EE,XML/CSS/XSL/JavaScript/ADF at that time. Please note that I dont have any knowledge in these technologies too and so I need to start from the basics only.
So taking my current skillsets into account, kindly please help me in chossing any one of the above 2 options, which will best suit me. Thanks in advance for any help that you would offer to me.

  • Apple id password still required for app updates

for some reason i still have to enter apple id password when updating apps... can some let me know how to turn password requirement off

I found this on another thread. I disabled restrictions on my iPhone and it no longer asked for my password. I have not tried re-enabling restrictions though to see if the problem reoccurs.

  • Why is my password still required for app updates on my iPhone with iOS6?

I've updated my iPhone 4S and my new iPad both to iOS6.  Now when I try to install updates no password is required on the iPad, but my iPhone still pops up the password request window.
I've tried restarting the iPhone after the install but that didn't change anything.  Is there a setting or anything else that I need to change on the phone in order to no longer need to enter my password every time I update apps?

  • Minimum age requirement for apps??

When I created my ID, after buying my ipod it asked for day and month but not year of birth.  I am trying to download an app and it's asking me to connect to itunes.  At this point it asked for my year of birth but I just picked a random year from the list.  I logged into my Apple ID on the internet and corrected my mistake (1980) but I'm still getting the same error on my ipod, that I do not meet the minimum required age.  I spent THREE HUNDRED freaking dollars on this thing and I just want to download a few games... this is SUPER frustrating!!!!  I don't even want to connect to iTunes I just want a few apps/games.

In older versions of iTunes in my laptop, there is a place to click to check for available updates when I see there are updates in the App Store icon in my iPhone.
Then the Apps updates are downloaded to the laptop and then I can sync the iPhone.
But I just can't find such a button to download Apps updates in the latest 11.0 iTunes.
Please help. Right now, I'm installing the updates via 3G which can be slow.

  • J2EE App Deployment on OAS (JDeveloper 10.1.2 used)

I have a JSP deployed that needs to use JavaScript and include tags to HTML but I can only get this to work if they are in the project/public_html folder of the deployed project.
I want to reuse the JavaScript and HTML in multiple projects within the same container without having to include them in the deployed .ear. Is this possible? How? I have read everyting I can find. The common Java classes work without being deployed as part of the project deployment. At least that works. This is my first attempt at J2EE altogether. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Does anyone know how to make .gif, .html, JavaScript available for multiple Java projects without including the files in each project deployment? All are in the same OC4J container. As I gain knowledge I will help others. For now, I'm a newbie. Help?
