Is photoshop cs4 the reason my vaio laptop constantly crashes?

Hi, i have read through lots of forums about the Open GL 2.0 and Shader model 3.0 being necessary in order to run CS4 photoshop.  I have the Adobe Web premium Cs4 package but i have never run anything but photoshop on my Sony vaio laptop,  I see that maybe my intel card might not be enough to run it.
The question thats really bugging me though is that my system crashes whenever it wants sometimes 4/5 times a day and somedays it doesnt happen and i always have to force it to shut down.  Im not using adobe photoshop and i could be just using microsoft word or watching windows media player.  i have recently disabled the open gl option and nothing has changed.  The laptop is brand new and i have already system recovered it also.  Could this be a Adobe Photoshop issue ?  or is it nothing to do with it as it happens randomly, regardless of whatever program im using if at tall

To expand on Johns' comments, this ARTICLE might help you gather clues, as to what is happening, when the computer crashes. Usually, there is a breadcrumb trail left behind in Event Viewer. Your job will be to find the clues in the warning and error messages, both in Applications and System. Be sure to follow each link, in each message.
Also, this ARTICLE, while written more for doing video editing, might have useful tips on doing an image editing session.
Last, though it's far less an issue with programs, like PS, than with programs, like PrPro, with the recent Windows updates and hot-fixes, I'd go to your vid-card's mfgr's site, and get the latest video driver.
