Is Photoshop Elements (11) similar to the old Photo Deluxe Business Edition?

I'm still using Photo Deluxe Business Edition, but I've heard you'd have to use the XP emulator to get PD to work on Windows 7.
Obviously, PD's clock is counting down.  I'm figuring one or two Windows versions down the road, you won't be able to use PD at all.
Someone suggested Elements 11.
Does anyone here know if it has all the features that PDBE had, or if there are some features missing?
Does Elements 11 have a text feature, where you can add words to photos (or to other types of .jpg files, .bmp files, etc.)?
Does it have a "paintbrush" to add streaks of color to a picture?  Can you also fill even an empty canvas with color?
Can you change the picture resolution?  Change the measurement size of a picture, and so on?
I'm assuming if I'm familiar with PD then it won't take long to get used to Elements 11?
If anyone can help out here...
Thanks.
EDIT:
Does anyone know if Elements can still open the old .pdd file format from Photo Deluxe?

Yes you can do all that.
Why not download the trial version of PSE11 and use it free for 30 days.
  Edit
You may need to convert the PDD file to another format in Photo deluxe or another converter.

  • Is Photoshop Elements 8 capable of reading RAW photos?

I have a Canon EOS Rebel T2i DSLR camera and just started taking photos on a setting for RAW and JPEG. My Photoshop Elements 8 program copied the JPEG photos but not the RAW photos. Do I need to purchase another program?

You probably need to update your camera raw plugin to 6.2
    windows:

    mac:

If you have pse 8 on a mac then bridge can only be updated to version 5.7 which
should still read your raw files and i believe you can update the bridge camera raw plugin

You should probably just download the trial version of pse 12 and see if you can live with it.
Download a free trial or buy Adobe products | Adobe downloads
That being said, have you tried to install pse 1 on your computer?
How much free space is on your hard drive?
Do you have Internet Explorer 10 or 11?
Pse 1 can run on windows 7 x64, provided certain conditions are met.

  • I'm moving an internal hard drive from an old computer to a new computer.  How do I transfer the catalog data to my new computer so the Organizer of Photoshop Elements 6 will find the data on the hard that has been moved to the new computer?

I'm moving an internal hard drive from an old computer to a new computer.  (My new compute runs Windows 8.1) How do I transfer the catalog data to my new computer so the Organizer of Photoshop Elements 6 will find the data on the hard that has been moved to the new computer?  Is this possible or do I have to use the procedure of copying the catalog along with the photos to a back up hard drive and then restore them on the new computer?

The 'normal' procedure is to do a PSE organizer backup (not a copy or a backup from external tools) to an external drive, then a restore to the new location.
The advantage is that you have a backup of both catalog and media files and you don't have all disconnected files, which would happen with external backup tools. Also, if you restore with a more recent elements version, the catalog will be automatically updated to the new format.
The drawback in your situation is that you'll have either to overwrite all your files or restore to a custom location, creating a duplicate photo library (which supposes you have enough free space).
It would be possible to simply use the organizer in the old PC to move the catalog to a new 'custom' folder just under your C: root drive. The catalog would be accessible once the drive will be installed in the new PC. Then you would have all files 'disconnected' due to the fact that all your media files are now on a drive with a different letter. Reconnecting a whole library is a hard job with PSE6, less so with PSE11/PSE12.
If the idea of fiddling with the sqlite database with external sqlite manager tools is ok for you, I can describe the process more in detail. You only copy your catalog folder (as suggested above) to another location. Instead of trying the 'reconnection' way, you install the sqlite utility on the new computer. When the old drive is installed in the new computer, you simply edit a given record in the catalog database, catalog.psedb, and start the organizer with your copied catalog by simply double clicking the 'catalog.psedb' file.
Even if the last solution is much, much quicker, I would still create a new PSE backup : you have never too much safety .

Hi I have the old photo shop elements 10 on my computer and want to update and was wondering what the differences between photoshop, lightroom and photoshop elements are?
Also when I upgrade does it have to be with a monthly membership or can I just purchase the product out right like you use to be able?

You cannot "update" from what you have to any of the applications you mention. It will have to be a straight purchase or subscription at full price.
Photoshop is a professional level application that makes no apologies for its very long and steep learning curve.
Lightroom is all about volume, and very light editing.

I do not know where there is such a comparison table as you seek, but someone else might, or you can google.

  • I just upgraded my old versionj 3 of photoshop elements to v13  when I import photos they are not imported in the same order they are mixeds up

hi can I have a reply to above question: I just upgraded my old versionj 3 of photoshop elements to v13  when I import photos they are not imported in the same order they are mixeds up

In the documents screen - sorry, new to this so not sure if that's the right terminology... Basically the screen showing all documents, if you drag down, there should be two options at the of of the page: Date and Name. Select Name and your list should now be in alphabetic order.
    Hope that helps.

  • If I own Photoshop Elements 5.0 on an old computer without internet access, how do I open the image

If I have Photoshop Elements 5.0 on an old computer without internet access, how can I open the image I created so I can print it?  The new computer with internet is not the one I have registered the Photoshop product.
    Thanks.
    Eddie

    Hi eddie
If you saved the image on the old computer as a project or a PSD file it will only open in Elements. The best thing to do is make another copy and then transfer it to the flash drive.
If you open the saved collage in the PSE5 Editor you can click the top menu Layer à Flatten Image
Then click File à Save As and choose jpeg.
Copy the jpeg to the flash drive and then plug it into the new computer and drag the jpeg collage to Pictures or another folder.

It is not viewable on your old computer.  We may be able to get you a replacement serial number.  Do you still have your proof of purchase for Photoshop Elements 5?

I havev installed a new Hard Drive on my laptop but cannot find my Photoshop Elements product box with the serial number to install Elements 10 or Elememts Premier 10. How can I find out the serial / installation codes for these? I saw a reply however, it was not my name and assumed it was for someone else. Now timed out. If you registered PSE before, go to the main page of adobe.com, sign in and go to your account and you should find the serial number there in your purchases.

  • In Photoshop Elements 11 attempting to blend two photos ( layering one on another) when I click on a brush, I get a smart brush which doesn't do what the instruction say it should do. Instead I can get the eraser to do what I need to do. Why the confusion

In Photoshop Elements 11 attempting to blend two photos (layering one on another) I click on brush and get a smart brush which doesn't do what the instructions say it will do. I can get the eraser to do what I want. Why the confusion???

I click on brush and get a smart brush which doesn't do what the instructions say it will do.
The Brush tool (Keyboard B) has several different brushes in the same slot. Right click on the brush icon and you will see them, or press B sequentially.
The Smart Brush tool (Keyboard F) has two items in the slot.
Since you did not provide reference to "the instructions", it is difficult to remedy the "confusion." that exists.
I suspect that the recipe calls for a mask, and painting with a black brush to mask out certain areas.
It would help if you post the instructions and what your goal is with more specificity.

    Heidi,
Suggest that you purchase PSE v.13. The software is on sale from time to time at box stores and at Amazon.
    Here is their price today:
    Amazon.com: photoshop elements: Software
Note that the boxed version is for WIN+MAC!
Investigate whether or not your machine meets the system requirements.
    Good luck!

After re-installing Win 7 64 on my computer, and attempting to install my copy of Adobe Photoshop Elements, I now get the following message: "This version of Photoshop Elements requires MS Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher to be installed". Does anyone have an idea of what the problem is? It has always worked in the past.

I have found a temporary solution, allowing the previous version of iTunes (v. 11.1.3 (x64) in my case) to be re-installed.  It will allow you to re-establish use of iTunes until the Apple software engineers fix the most recent disasterous upgrade (v. 11.1.4).  Please see and follow the procedure in the following article:http://smallbusiness.chron.com/reverting-previous-version-itunes-32590.html   The previous version works beautifully.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
