Is Photoshop Elements 8 capable of reading RAW photos?

I have a Canon EOS Rebel T2i DSLR camera and just started taking photos on a setting for RAW and JPEG. My Photoshop Elements 8 program copied the JPEG photos but not the RAW photos. Do I need to purchase another program?

You probably need to update your camera raw plugin to 6.2
windows:

mac:

If you have pse 8 on a mac then bridge can only be updated to version 5.7 which
should still read your raw files and i believe you can update the bridge camera raw plugin
by Help>Updates from bridge.
In case you can't:

Using photoshop elements 6.0 - converting raw photos files to dng, how/where do I add metadata?

Metadata can be added in Properties panel. select a file and hit Alt+Enter. It will open up Properties panel. You may drag drop tags on the media and do File > Write tags info to files to write tags in file metadata.

  • Will Photoshop Elements 13 automatically download Raw photos?

Will Photoshop Elements 13 automatically download raw files (photos) from card reader or do I have to use
Capture One, Adobe DNG converter ?
I am planning to buy the Sony mirrorless Alpha A 7 II
I read - there can be problems with down loading raw files from the Sony A7II camera to Photoshop elements.
Someone suggested if I upgrade to Photoshop Elements 13 it will automatically download raw files just like it did with Jpegs.

    Hi,
Could it be referred to as the Sony ILCE-A7M2 - that appears in the table and requires Camera Raw 8.7.1
If that is the case, Photoshop Elements 13 (with updates) will import the raw files. When you plug in the card into the reader, it can be set up to launch the Elements downloader.
You can download the trial version of Photoshop Elements from here
    Download Photoshop Elements products | 13, 12, 11, 10
Once you have installed it, you need to go to the Help menu and select Updates to install the latest Camera Raw.

  • Photoshop Elements 8 not reading Raw files

I have an old version Elemnts 8 running on Mac OS 10.6.8 that I have used mosty for jpg  files in the past. I now have a new Nikon D7000 and am shooting in Raw only PSE 8 will not recognise my raw files, I have been on numerous plugins to try to update PSE and see if I can get the right plugin to interface with the D7000, not much information out there to help me. I just installed  Camera Raw 6.2 as it appeares to be the most untodate that can still be installed in PSE 8 but my Raw files are still a blank icons and PSE will not recognise them. I rang the Adobe Tech people and they would love to help if I put some money into their pocket.. I don't see why I should when it is obviously a fault of their software that it wont read Raw, other wise they wouldn't  have so many update plugins out there to try to fix the problem.    has anybody been able to find a solution to this, and can you help me.

a fault of their software that it wont read Raw, other wise they wouldn't  have so many update plugins out there to try to fix the problem.
Just FYI, every single camera model has a unique raw format, so every time there's a new camera release, adobe must update the raw plug-in with the information necessary for that format, and they need the necesary info from the camera maker to do that. Raw isn't a generic format, unfortunately, and adobe also makes other changes to the raw converter from time to time, so there's a limit to how long you can continue to get new versions with your older software. (In CS, they deliberately cut you off when a new CS version is released, but in PSE it's true compatibility that mostly determines when the upgrades stop. Your version of Bridge was also part of CS4 so it got stopped when CS5 came out.  )
Another option would be to use the software that came with the camera to do your raw conversions, save as Tiff and edit those in PSE.

  • Using Photoshop Elements if shooting in raw

I shoot in raw.  Can I use Photoshop Elements 11 for processing raw photos?  or do I need a plug-in?

PSE11 comes with the RAW plug-in and can be updated to Camera RAW v7.4 via Help> Updates. Check for your camera at http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html. Providing it is supported by ACR 7.4 or lower you'll be fine. Otherwise you'll need to use PSE12, or the free Adobe DNG Converter to convert the files to the DNG RAW format PSE11 can use, or the software that came with your camera.

I just bought the canon 5d mark iii and my photoshop elements 10 won't read my raw files. I want to buy photoshop elements 13 but want to make sure my camera is compatible with it first. Thank you for your help!

Photoshop elements 10 should be able to open those files if you update to camera raw 6.7
Which operating system are you using?
    windows
Adobe - Photoshop Elements : For Windows : Camera Raw 6.7 update for Elements 10
    mac
Adobe - Photoshop Elements : For Macintosh : Camera Raw 6.7 update for Elements 10
Also, photoshop elements 13 will open those files as well.

The first thing I did was UPDATE. I have all the latest updates available (according to the updater). The Camera Raw Plug-in says it is version 8.0.
The RAW files are from a Canon T3i. It's a very common camera, I can't believe it wouldn't be supported.

  • My photoshop cs5 will not recognize raw photos from my canon eos 70d

my photoshop cs5 will not recognize raw photos from my canon eos 70d

No.  DNG is a RAW format.  There are a few small manufacturer specific items that are left out when converted to RAW (for example, Nikon's Active D lighting) that aren't maintained, as well as some Meta data and focus points, etc.  Personally I never noticed the difference, but perhaps some do.  There is no impact to the image quality, you have just as much post production freedom with DNG.
I did it for a couple years before upgrading to CS6.  It's an extra step, but you get used to it and it's not a huge deal.  I would put my card in my reader, and download to a temp file.  While that downloaded I would go to the fridge and grab a beer [Edit - you can substitute the beverage of your choice ].  Then I would run the RAW to DNG converter, and drink my beer.  It was usually done before my beer (if not I got another).  I saved the CR2 files as a backup at first, but once I got comfortable trusting DNG I stopped doing that.
Another option is to get Lightroom and use that for your developing.  You can then send over a TIFF file with the edits.  But in this situation you couldn't send the image over as a smart object (I think, I assume this would use ACR?).

  • Photoshop Elements 13, the iTunes "Sync Photos from Photoshop Elements" feature no longer works

Photoshop Elements 13, the iTunes "Sync Photos from Photoshop Elements" feature no longer works??? Is had worked with photoshop 9 pretty good? how can I enable this feature?
    thx. francisco

I am experiencing the same problem after upgrading to PSE13, but haven't found a solution yet.
TomWoodbridge proposes a workaround, see Re: iTunes Photo Sync with PhotoShop Elements Fails after PSE Update
Another permanent workaround (which doesn't require to copy the pse database every time you want to sync) is described here: Elements 13: Cannot synchronise photo albums in iTunes after upgrading from Elements 11
    Hope this helps.

  • Will photoshop elements 12 have camera raw 8.6 support?

will photoshop elements 12 have camera raw 8.6 support?

Just a note abour the 8.5 update:
This morning, opening my computer I got a warning message from 'Adobe application manager' informing me of the availability of that update. I agreed an the update started. It soon stopped with a dialog asking me to stop 'elementsautoanalyzer.exe'. I was sure it was not running in the background. After checking that, I simply clicked on the 'continue' button and the update ran normally. The new version is good in the editor and the organizer.
So, if you get that message, don't panic...

  • I purchased Photoshop Elements 11 from B&H Photo on August 13, 2013. Now there is Version 12

I purchased Photoshop Elements 11 from B&H Photo on August 13, 2013. Am I elegible for an upgrade?

I don't think so because only purchases within the 30 days of new release qualifies for free upgrade.  however, some countries have different rules and your best bet is to phone your local office of Adobe and speak to them and be prepared to send them (via email and/or fax) proof of your purchase so that they can consider your status.
Also, it is a good idea to register the product (this is separate from activation of the product) so that there is yet another proof of purchase.
    Good luck.

  • Can Photoshop Elements be used on scanned photos?

Can Photoshop Elements be used on scanned photos?

Yes. It’s also possible to scan directly into the application. In Elements 10, you may need to copy the Adobe TWAIN driver, if your scanner requires it, from the optional plug-ins folder to the Import-Export folder in the main plug-ins folder.
You will need to copy the plug-in Twain_32.8ba
    Copy from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Optional Plug-Ins\Import-Export
    Copy to:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Locales\en_US\Plug-Ins\Import-Export.
On Macintosh, copy the ImportModules folder to plug-ins.
    Copy from:
    //Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 10/Support Files/Optional Plug-Ins/
    Copy to:
    //Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 10/Support Files//Plug-Ins/
N.B. The app store version of Elements has a different file path.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 will not open photo files

You are rude, to say the least.  It is adobe's fault for marketing it as compatible.  Yet another reason why I want nothing to do with adobe.  The fact they marketed it as compatible when it is not is what I have a problem with.  I am not blaming the software, I am blaming the company.
